Star's eyes slid open. The recently risen sun shone brightly on the horizon. A brisk wind blew through the trees. The smell of the brook reached her nose. This was her new home.

Next to her in her new den slept Shadowpaw. She nuzzled against his warm fur as he slept. She closed her eyes but didn't sleep. It was dawn, the time at which she would have awoken... a year ago, before the hurricane had erased her prior life. 

After that, in the months they had spent searching for a new pack, a new home, they had awoken early, hoping to cover more distance. Their new pack felt like home, despite its differences from the home they left.

Star wondered why she was taking so much time to contemplate such a simple matter. But then, sleeping in was more of Snowy's thing. 

Next to her, Shadow shifted and opened one eye. "Morning," Star murmured. 

Before she could say more, though, Snowy's voice sounded through the opening in their den. 

"Star! Are you up?" She called. Star sighed. "Yes! I'll be up in a moment..." 

Star came out of the den. Shadow came after her. "What is it, Star?" Shadow asked.

"Well... I never really got to fulfill my promise." Snowy murmured. "And, now that we're sort of settled in... Star, let's go hunting."
