Wolff

"Are you still there?"

I wanted to laugh, but didn't want what I was going to say to sound like a joke. "Of course I am."

"Just checking," she said for the fifth time since we walked through the front door.

"I know I did not ask you yet, but what is your name?"

"My name?"

"Do you not have one?"

I had to think, the moon goddess never called me anything, she would just talk to me.

"I don't think I do...all I know is that I am a wolf."

"Then I think I have a good name for you. Your name should be Wolff. It would be spelled with two letter F's at the end, because you are the second part of me; Friends Forever." I strangely liked it.

When I first walked inside there was no one in the house, there was a note that said her mom was at the grocery store and would be back soon. I also asked her where her dad was since he also wasn't at home, she told me that he was at work.

I wish that her mom would have been home when I got here, because she is my mom too. The wolf part of the baby goes to the wolf world first while the human stays on Earth, until the wolf is returned, which is today. I have not seen my mom in a long time, I actually have never met her, but I couldn't wait to finally meet.

I was holding down my excitement as I realized this is the perfect opportunity to learn more about my human. She was starting to become a lot more complex then I originally thought.

"So how did you meet the girl in the bathroom?"

"Are you referring to Kimberly?" She asked.

"I think."

I walked into a bedroom with lime green covered walls and posters of singers and movies. There was some things on the floor that did not make it to bins that were pushed up against the walls are falling out of the closet that was only partially closed. The one surprising thing about her room was there was nothing on any table except for a picture frame, not even a lamp. The picture frame was not seeable to anyone since it is faced down. And all I wanted to do was flip it up, but if Mindy doesn't flip it over then it won't be.

I was correct as we walked directly past the frame and sat down on the bed.

Even though there was no one in the house, she still talked to me through the mind link. "I met her the day that you didn't come. Everyone turned their back on me and pushed me around during lunch that I ended up getting kicked out of my table and walking out of the cafeteria. I walked all the way to the back of the school building and sat near a big recycling bin and started eating lunch. That's when a girl sat next to me and didn't say anything. We ate in silence that first day."

"I'm so s—"

"It's not your fault, you don't decide when you come or not."

"I know, I just—"

"It's okay," I could tell she doesn't want to talk about that anymore, so she goes back to talking about Kimberly, and I listen. "After a month when the talking about me not having a wolf declines, Kimberly started talking to me, saying that things would start to get better. There was only one week of the silent treatment from almost the whole school, until the week after when the words weren't enough and the first punch was thrown where I didn't block myself."

I couldn't help myself and let out a whimper. She continued on with her story.

"They wanted to see how I wouldn't heal fast, how long the bruises would be left. Everyone that goes to my school is a werewolf, and someone could have stopped them, they weren't even the strongest kids, but no one interfered. By the fifth punch a group of students were pushing each other to see who got the better spot to see the action take place. Finally, the principle was called down. He pulled me away before my eye could be completely shut." The screen became blurry for a second as she flopped herself on her bed facing the ceiling.

"The principle had to call down my parents and discuss with them what happened. It was humiliating, but my mom wouldn't stop crying and my dad just stared at me with sympathy like in some way he could have prevented it from starting."

"Those assholes," I mumbled.

"I agree, but they got what they deserved. The soon to be Alpha was informed and made sure to punish them, I don't know what he did but the kids never touched me again, not even looked at me. This time it was two weeks that went by and no one talked to me except for Kimberly, then once that time was done the name calling came back, I tried telling the principle, but he needed proof, and there was no proof for the words they spoke." She stopped talking and I saw the screen look down at a pillow before it became dark from her face being smashed into the feathers. "That's when the crying in the bathroom started. I wished so bad that they would just punch me one more time so my pain from the inside reflected to my outside. That would be proof. I could have always inflicted the pain on myself, but why would that have helped? They caused me enough pain that I didn't need myself to add onto it. Besides, I was not going to stoop to their level."

"I'm glad you didn't." Another silence. "I have a question."

"Yeah, go ahead, you can ask."

"Why did you not go to the Alpha for help, I'm sure he would have helped you again."

I hear her sigh. "I couldn't, only high up ranks can talk to the Alpha directly, I'm nowhere near the high rank, I'm not even a rank. The pack calls my family lone wolfs, we are not rouges but we live on the border of the pack land. So if the pack did get attacked my rouges we would be the first ones that die."

"Why would they do that? That's not right! All pack member should be treated the same, it doesn't matter if someone doesn't get their wolf." It's practically never heard of that that someone doesn't get their wolf, but it is possible.

"That's not the only reason that they moved my family's house, but I can tell you that later, you will most likely figure it out yourself."

"Okay, I won't ask any more about your house location, but I will ask why you couldn't get a high up rank to ask for you?"

"I thought that if the principle wouldn't listen to me, and he was a high up rank, then no one else would. Eventually when I was a little over 15, Kimberly convinced me to try asking for help again, but that was the day that the soon to be Alpha announced that he was going on a search for his mate, since he had not found her yet. Everyone was invited to the meeting and the whole pack was there for a going away party. During that party I only got in two words, 'good luck.' He gave me a small smile, but that was it, he has not come back since."

The story made me sad but slightly hopeful. I am paired with an Alpha; the moon goddess confirmed it with me. This Alpha could be my mate! I wouldn't say anything to Mindy though, just in case it wasn't. I also don't want to get my expectations too high just to be disappointed.

"Maybe when he comes back we can talk to him?"

"Sure, at least now I will have you, my parents and Kimberly as support. So do you have any more questions for me?"

"What's your favorite color?" I decided a more light hearted topic would be good.

She laughs. "Grey, what about you?"

"Blue." I thought about my mate's eyes, I really want to see them again. My mates human and wolf eye color won't both be the same, or they could, but I bet they both will be beautiful.

We went back and forth with random questions as Mindy tried to do her homework, I could tell she wasn't really trying by the way she was answering math problems by drawing a face with a frown. Eventually she just gave up.

"So can I ask you a more serious question now?" She asked.

"Of course."

I watched as her hands grabbed all her school stuff and through all of it back in her back pack. "When will I be able to turn into a wolf?"

I was confused how she did not know, I thought all parents tell their children, but I didn't question her. "About one week after I arrive-- six more days."

"I am really excited, in the hallways I sometimes hear students talking about how exhilarating the feeling is, I thought I would never get to know the feeling, and now I do!" I could feel her excitement combine with mine about the thought of running on all four paws.

Mindy zipped up her backpack as the doorbell rang.

She didn't seem hesitant as I would be to have someone visiting at this late at night. When she opened up the door she didn't let the other person talk before saying, "Left your keys again?"

The women smiled. She wore a pair of jeans and a flannel shirt; her hair in a bun on the side of her face, the style was strangely working for her. "You know me too well." The women started to walk inside, but then stopped and sniffed the air, and looked more closely at Mindy like she was looking directly through Mindy to me. Suddenly her eye color changed and I felt an instant connection to the women.

I don't know how Mindy did it, but suddenly she gave me the power to control her body, and the instant she did I wrapped my arms around the women's waist tightly and said, "I came home."

I did post the chapter like I promised. It is Friday and I am posting!

So thoughts on this chapter?

I wrote this today and it took forever! So please don't be too cruel?
