Okay

Neither one of us wanted to break the silence, we just stared at eachother until she spoke up. I bet the girl was just intimidated by the gun that was still clasped in Mindy's hand. I would have been intimidated too.

"So what is your name?" The girl asked.

"Mindy, how about you?"

"Ava." The girl's voice didn't seem as shaken as it had been before, and that might be because the footsteps were getting farther away.

"nice name." I rolled my eyes at Mindy's response. That's the best she could say? How about asking her why she was running. I told Mindy that she should ask Ava that question, and she did. I thought Ava would take longer to respond, but she didn't.

"My mate."

"Why would you do that?" I was wondering the same thing. Did the girls mate do something to hurt her that made her run away? I checked on her skin to see if there were any forced markings on her neck, arms or anywhere else, but there was only the scraps on her knees where she recently fell.

"I'm not ready for a mate."

"Not ready?"

Ava was thinking. "I'm not apart of this pack, and when I crossed over the boarder to this pack I wasn't expecting much."

"Why did you come here if you aren't apart of the pack?"

"I..." Ava looked at the wall where some food was stacked up for emergencies, and then back at Mindy. Her eyes looked more alert. "I know you think I'm a rogue, but I'm not I swear!" Her hands were up in the air like she got caught by a cop.

I looked down at mindy's hand and saw it was gripping the gun slightly tighter and risen off the floor slightly. "Loosen your grip on the gun, it's making her nervous."

She loosened her grip. Ava saw, and slowly put her hands down to her sides.

"So, why are you here?"

"I came for a meeting."

"So you were apart of the neighboring pack meeting?" The girl didn't seem like the type of person people described at school.

"How do you know about that?"

"I think the whole pack knows about it. So who is this mate of yours? He must be important if they sent more than one person to find you."

"yeah, he is." She kept her eyes focused on the gun for some reason, like making sure that Mindy wasn't going to rise it again.

"So who is he?"

She looked down at her lap, as if ashamed with herself. "The Alpha."

The conversation went silent. Mathew had finally found his mate. I had mixed emotions going through my head thinking that it was only yesterday I thought he was my mate, but now he finally found his true mate, and she was right in front of me.

"He has been looking for his mate for such a long time. Why did you run? How did you escape?"

"That's a lot of questions all at once."

"Mindy, slow down," I said.

"Sorry, I'm just really curious."

Ava sighed. "Well, I guess the answer is the same one I told you before. I'm not ready for a mate, especially an Alpha mate, that means that I will be the Luna of this pack."

"Is that such a bad thing? To be Luna of this pack?"

"Yes! I mean..kinda." That answer got me mad for some reason. Just the thought of her finding her mate and not wanting to be with him got me upset. "Okay, let me explain. I am suppose to be the Alpha of my pack since my brother died a year ago. If I don't become Alpha of my pack, then my dad will have to find a new leader, and that will be the end of the line for my family's name as Alpha. I could never do that to my father and Mother."

"I think I understand, but I'm no Alpha."

"I guess what I'm trying to say is I'm struggling with this Alpha thing, and I don't need a mate to make things more difficult for me."

"Have you thought that maybe he could make things more easier for you?"

"An Alpha mate could make things easier...I doubt it," she said.

"He's been looking for his mate for two years now and he finally found you. I'm not that close with the Alpha, but I really do think that you should give him a chance."

"I'll think about it." The conversation was definitely a lot more relaxed than it was at the beginning.

"So how did you get out of pack house?" I wanted to know too, since there is so many guards that surround the place it must have been a mad rush to get out of the place. And I doubt that the Alpha would let his mate go so easily.

"I walked into his office and smelled his scent right away and knew that there was something that wasn't right so out of fright I told my dad that I was going to excuse myself to the bathroom. The Alpha hadn't arrived yet, so it was okay, but when I was leaving the room the Alpha and I bumped into each other. The first word that got out of my mouth was 'Pee' before I went to the bathroom and jumped out the window. The window isn't that high from the ground so I didn't hurt myself. It was a classic move to do, but he didn't seem to notice I wasn't planning on going back to the office. He only noticed five minutes after I jumped, because that is when I started to hear people chasing after me and yelling my name."

"So when you bumped into him he didn't say anything back?"

"I think he was just as shocked as I was."

"I bet he is shocked right now that you ran away from him."

"Well, that's what I do best. When I'm dealt with a tough scenario I run. That's why today was my first meeting, or going to be my first meeting. I'm just not good with difficult situations. It's not the best trait for an Alpha to have, but I just started training to be an Alpha, my brother was suppose to be the one training, but instead it's me. So far I'm screwing everything up. I can't even run faster than a girl that jumps out from behind a tree. I should have saw you were coming! What if you were a rogue? You could have killed me! Alpha's are suppose to be strong, why can't I be strong?"

Ava was shaking, and Mindy did the nicest thing she could have done. She dropped her gun and wrapped her arms around Ava like they were long lost friends, and Ava cried.

"To be honest, I think that girl that jumped out from behind the tree was as scared as you were." They both laughed. "So now I only have one more question for you," Mindy said as Ava was wiping her eyes.

"Sure."

"When Mathew first went to your pack to find his mate a couple years, how did he not find you?"

"I was locked up in my room. If you think I'm terrified now you should have seen me when I was younger. I only ever talked to people in my family, and the Beta, otherwise I would keep to myself. So when my dad heard that the Alpha was coming to find his mate they told him that I was younger than I actually was, and was taking a nap. So your Alpha never asked to see me, and since my parents are neat freaks they sprayed the whole house when he left, so I never got a chance to smell his scent."

"Oh, well that sounds about right, So back to the question I asked you before, will you give him a chance?"

"Yeah, I will." Mindy started to get up off the floor and held her hand out. Ava did not take it.

"Where are we going to go?"

"To the Alpha." Ava instantly shook her head.

"Can we not go today, and instead go tomorrow, I'm emotionally drained today." Her eyes were still puffy from crying and she looked about to collapse if she had to talk to her mate.

"You promise you won't run away?"

"I promise."

"So do you just want to stay here for the night or do you plan to go somewhere else? I think the trackers are gone now and you can cross the border to go back home."

"That's the first place they would go to find me. If it's okay with you could I just stay with you?"

"Yeah, It's okay with me."

"Okay, Mindy, Now I have a question for you," I said as I saw Ava getting comfy up against a wall with a pillow and a blanket that she found stacked up in the corner. She gave a pillow and blanket to Mindy too, Mindy thanked her.

"And what kind of question is it?"

"Why did you not grab your gun right away?" I remember telling Mindy to reach for it, but she didn't and I wanted to know why, although now I'm glad she didn't.

"When I looked at Ava she looked as scared as I did. I knew right away that I had to help her."

"I'm glad you helped her." I looked over at Ava struggling with her blanket and wanted to laughed at how she tried to make it cover her feet, but the blanket was too short.

"Me too."

I posted on time I swear! It 11:50 here and I just finished writing the chapter. I'm keeping up with this updating schedule.

So this chapter was a filler, I wasn't planning it to be, but it just happened.

So thoughts on Ava?
