"Why are you rushing around the house, you have not eaten breakfast yet!" Our mom was chasing us up and down the stairs with a banana in her hand. Mindy ignored her and continued to go up and down the stairs throwing random supplies in her backpack.

Last night, or more importantly, this morning we meant to come home for breakfast, but instead decided to grab the gun from the shed and put it back to its place in the kitchen drawer. Also, making the shed go back to the way it was, without pillows and blankets thrown everywhere. Luckily, our parents were not up yet. So there was no yelling when we came in through the door because there was no witness to yell at us.

Mindy stopped running up the stairs and turned to our mom. "If I take the banana will you stop following me?" Mom nodded her head and Mindy took the banana.

"Now that you have stopped running around can you tell me why you came home so late?"

"Why would you think that? I--" Mindy started to say.

"I know that you came in through the front door early this morning, because I heard the slam of a door and it woke me up. So I was wondering when you were going to tell me when you left or why you left the house so early?"

"My wolf woke me up and said she wanted to go outside for some fresh air, as soon as we left the house we waited a couple of minutes and then came back inside. I'm sorry if I scared you." Mindy lied without me saying anything, and our mom seemed to believe her.

When we left the house last night when we heard the running outside the window. Our mom wasn't as close as us and couldn't hear it. We closed the door softly too when we left the house, but when we came home and opened the door slowly, we concluded that since there was no one there when we opened the door that we were in the clear and shut the door too hard while coming in.

"Okay, but next time can you put a note on the table saying where you are going? Instead of me waiting around the house hoping that you will say something to me?"

"I will, I promise."

"Mindy! How long does it take to grab a folder?" Kimberly yelled from downstairs. I forgot that she came to pick Mindy up to go to school. Kimberly was the one that woke us up this morning, we had forgotten to set an alarm. And the reason for Mindy going upstairs to grab a folder.

"I'm coming!" Mindy bolted up the stairs and luckily found her folder on her dresser and ran back down. "Okay, let's go."

We got to school around second period and again there was some type of gossip. This time it was about the new luna. I chose to ignore it, but I don't know if Mindy decided to do the same.

When the bell rang after 3rd period it was time for lunch, we were going in the direction of the cafeteria to meet with Kimberly , but we got stopped by a girl.

"Do you know who she is?" I asked Mindy.

"I don't think I do."

"Can I talk to you for a second?" The girl asked. She had her arms crossed like a police officer that wouldn't let us cross the street without answering their question.

"Ummm...sure."

"Follow me." She walked past us, and we stayed put.

"Why can't you tell me here? I'm going to lunch right now." The girl didn't look like she cared and instead turned around, grabbed Mindy by the arm and practically dragged her out of the front doors. "Hey, you are holding a little bit too tight." I could see Mindy starting to struggle with getting the girls hands off her arms, but kept failing. By the time the girl let go we arrived at the side of the school, but we were not alone. Five other students, including the girl, were standing in front of us.

"Glad that you could join us," One of the kids said. It was a guy with a muscular build and dirty blonde hair. This guy I didn't recognize either. I didn't recognize anyone.

"What do you want to talk to me about?" Mindy's voice was shaking.

"My dad works for the Alpha, a guard more specifically, and he told me that you kidnapped the Alpha's mate."

Shocked was the only word that came to my mind. They knew that Mindy and I brought Ava to the Alpha.

"I did not kidnap her. She was trying to run away, so I took her back to the Alpha."

"Then why did you not bring her to the Alpha when she was running away, why did you keep her a prisoner and gave her to the Alpha in the morning? Were you making up a plan to kill her, but decided it would be better to make a deal with the Alpha?"

"What are you talking about?"

"You made up a plan for the Alpha to make you Luna and kick out his own mate. That way you would rise in status and get a mate." He was the only person in the row of students that started walking forward.

"Where are you getting this information from! If your dad is telling you this then he is wrong! I never did that. I never planned to do that. That's not true!"

"My dad didn't need to tell me, once he told me you came to the pack house with the luna I connected the pieces by myself," he said.

"That's not--" The last word never left her mouth as the guy swung and hit her straight in the face. I didn't feel the pain of the impact, but I know that Mindy did.

"Your plan didn't work though because you got kicked out of the pack house with nothing. You will never be a high rank, you will never have a mate. And if you ever do find your other half you will cheat on him with a human, just like your mom. Then you can have a child that is as pathetic as you." Without another warning there was another punch and suddenly a foot was going to her stomach.

The screen I was looking at was starting to just become fists with blood. Mindy's screams were all I could hear, and once I heard her scream for the third time I could feel my frightfulness for her come to the surface and I took control of her body, again, and by doing so I took all of her pain.

I saw as another kick came to the stomach and I couldn't block it. My energy was practically gone, and I could feel my eyes starting to close down on me. I tried to communicate with Mindy, but she wasn't responding.

"Ethan, that's enough." He didn't stop. "That's enough!" Two guy from the group of students pulled the guy named Ethan away from me, and dragged him towards the front of the school. The rest of the kids followed them inside.

No one tried to help us after the first punch, no one was helping us now, and I couldn't push our body off of the ground since I knew our leg was broken, and maybe our ribs. All I felt was the sensation of needles everywhere or the feeling of lying under a large rock..

"Mindy! Mindy please say something!" Kimberly screamed.

I waited for Mindy to say something, but then realized that I took control of her body, so I had to speak. "I'm here." It didn't come out as strong as I wanted it too, but it must have been loud enough for her to know where I was, because I could hear her feet running toward me.

Kimberly appeared in front of me, and I didn't get to say one word, before she started speaking again, "What happened?" I saw there was tears trapped in the corner of her eyes. She looked at me from the top of my head all the way to the the bottom of my feet.

"I'm not sure, Mindy and I were dragged outside by a girl , and then suddenly we were hit by a guy named Ethan. He thought that we kidnapped the Luna. You know that we would never do that, right?" I was defending myself when I knew it wasn't our fault, but I knew this is what Mindy would want me to do. She still wasn't responding to me. She was a lot weaker than I thought.

"What do you mean by 'we'? Mindy, stop it. You are starting to sound crazy."

"That's because I'm not Mindy, I'm her wolf." Kimberly took a step closer and I involuntarily flinched which made her stop.

"I'm not going to hurt you. I promise, but Mindy is badly injured and we need to help her." She walked all the way up to me like approaching a baby lion.

She somehow got me to stand on one leg and limp over to her car, which was a huge accomplishment, because walking on two legs felt strange, and one leg was worse.

"Where are you taking us?" She looked over at me weirdly when I said 'us,' but then shook her head and put the keys in the car.

"I need to take you home so I can help you with your injuries."

"Why can't you just take me to a school nurse or the pack doctor?"

"If I take you to either one of those places they won't help you, According to them you are an outsider that isn't allowed to get medical help because according to them you aren't a true werewolf, because your dad is a human and mom is a werewolf."

"That's ridiculous, but how can you help me?" Every Single time I spoke I felt like my ribs would cave into my internal organs.

"I'm training to be a pack doctor. I left some of my supplies at your house a couple of weeks ago, just incase. And once I become a doctor I will treat anyone, even if they are just human, or have a human parent."

I nodded. "Can I ask you another question?"

"sure."

"How did you find us?"

"Ethan and his friends came in through the front door, and Ethan had blood all over him. He usually gets in fights with other kids, so it wasn't a shocker to me that he looked the way that he did, but when I asked him if he had seen you, he smiled and said, 'outside'."

"Why would he do this? Is he really good friends with the Alpha?" He might have thought that he was being protective of his friend.

"Far from it. He thinks that if he fights on the Alpha's behalf, that by doing so he will become one of the Alpha's guards too. It's a big honor to be an Alpha's guard, an honor that he doesn't deserve. He's just an asshole."

"I don't think that he should be a guard either."

"No one does. Except for his friends. And his friends are assholes too. I mean, they just watched him do this to you! This is the worse that has ever happened to you! And I wasn't there! Why am I not there when the worse things happen to you. I wasn't there when you broke your arm from someone pushing you off the playground slide, but I was there when you got a papercut."

I must have looked confused, because she responded. "Oops, I forgot that you're not Mindy. You wouldn't know these things."

"I know I don't, but I would like to learn more about her."

"Well I'm glad. She is a great person to learn about."

There was silence for about two seconds before the pain in my leg started to become worse and I screamed and closed my eyes. When I opened them I was looking back at a screen and Mindy was taking all the pain again.

"Make the pain go away!" The screen was covered in tears as Mindy was gripping her leg, and as I watched closely, her leg it twisted in a weird angle that was no way natural.

There was no one on the road, so it was easy to pull the car over. The hard part was Kimberly trying not to hit a tree. When the car was parked she got out and ran over to our side and unbuckled us.

"Breathe Mindy, just breathe." She wrapped her arm around Mindy's waist and helped her out of the car.

"Wolff, how can I make the pain go away!"

I was happy that we could communicate again, but I was sad because I knew I couldn't help her. Pain is part of the process. "You are shifting."

"I'm shifting?"

"You are turning into a wolf. You are turning into me."

This chapter was going to have a lot more, but I think 2,000 words is enough. I'm continuing what I hap planned for this chapter onto the next chapter.

We are on chapter 10 and the book just reached 700 reads!! Thank you!
