Temple Run

This part is based off the show; "Shroud of Darkness (Season 2, Episode 18) Now, on with the show!

"I'm thinking this planet's not gonna work out as a base after all." Ezra said, dodging the Seventh Sister's lightsaber.

"You think?!" I asked.

Ezra, Kanan, and I were on a deserted planet, fighting the two new Inquisitors.

We can never catch a break from these two... Everywhere we go, they always seem to find us.

"Seeing that the key part of secret base is the secret location, no, it will not work!" Kanan said, raising his lightsaber to defend himself.

"Where's Chopper?" I asked.

"I signaled him. He's either lost or ignoring us." Ezra said.

"Oh, he's not lost." Kanan groaned.

That rustbucket's gonna get us killed...!

I raised my lightsaber quickly and blocked the Fifth Brother's glowing red blade.

"You are quite the formidable opponent, even without your wolves. You would make a fine Inquisitor, you know." he said.

"Trust me, I'd rather be a Hut than work with you Lothrats." I said.

Pushing him away from me, I looked to the boys and we nodded to one another.

"Cross!" Kanan said.

Ezra nodded and ran up to us. Using the Force, Kanan and I pushed our Padawan forward and watched as he connected blades with the Fifth Brother. Then, Ezra used the Force on Kanan and me, and we soon connected blades with the Seventh Sister.

Good thing we trained for something like this.

Seeing Ezra struggling, I ran over quickly blocked the Fifth Brother's blade before it could hit my apprentice. The kid and I dueled the Inquisitor, two against one. Unfortunately, he was holding his own against us. I then heard grunting. I turned around to see Kanan battling the Seventh Sister, but there was a small droid on top of Kanan's head.

I hate those annoying, little things...

"Ezra...?" I began.

"I see it." Ezra said.

Ezra dodged the Inquisitor's attack and fired at the Seventh Sister. Once she was distracted, Ezra was able to shoot the droid off Kanan's head. Kanan fell back and watched the droid fall off the cliff. I was busy dealing with the Fifth Brother. Pushing me away with the Force, the Fifth Brother used the Force to throw Ezra off the cliff. If it wasn't for Kanan, the kid would've been a goner.

That was way too close for comfort...

I then saw Kanan slipping and losing his grip on Ezra. I quickly ran over to then took a hold of Ezra's other leg.

"Ezra, we need you up here!" Kanan said.

"Hold on. I'm busy at the moment." Ezra said.

"Busy with what? Trying to die?" I asked.

Kanan groaned and together, we yanked our Padawan up. Kanan and I managed to fend off the Inquisitors before we had to catch Ezra.

"Up on three?" Kanan asked.

"Fine. One..." Ezra counted.

"Two..." I counted.

"Three!" we all cried.

Kanan and I pulled Ezra up and Force pushed him behind the Inquisitors. Jumping back up, Kanan and I fended off the two Inquisitors.

"I got us a ride. Come on!" Ezra said.

Following Ezra, the three of us started heading for the cliff.

"I don't like this..." Kanan said.

"Just get ready to jump!"

Kanan and I looked at Ezra like he grew two heads.

"Jump!?" I asked in shock.

"You're crazy!" Kanan said.

We soon reach the edge of the cliff.

"Now!" Ezra said jumping.

We followed suit and screamed on the way down. Then, we felt ourselves being pulled up in the air. I looked down and saw that we were on the back of a tibidee.

"This was you?" Kanan asked, looking at Ezra.

"Yeah! Not bad, huh?" Ezra asked.

"This is amazing!" I said.

I looked back and saw the disgusted faces of the Inquisitors. I then looked up and saw Chopper and the Phantom. Chopper grunted and opened the door to the Phantom.

"After you." Kanan said, chuckling.

"Thanks for the lift." Ezra said, patting the creature's head.

The tibidee let out a deep wail with a small smile. We stood up and jumped into the Phantom. We waved goodbye to the creatures as they flew away. Once we were off that Inquisitor-infested planet, we made a jump for hyperspace. Ezra sat down and sighed.

"That was a close one." he said.

Kanan and I glanced at one another and sighed.

"Yeah, another close one..." I said.

"What's wrong?" Ezra asked.

"Everywhere we go we run into those guys, and I don't like it. If this keeps up, we'll never be able to help the rebels establish a base. At least not as long as we're with them." Kanan said.

Breathing out, I placed a comforting hand on the distressed Jedi's shoulder.

I understand his stress completely. He's not the only one...

"So, what are we gonna do about it?" Ezra asked.

"We don't know. But's it's endangering the whole squadron." I said.

Sighing silently, Kanan stood up with a serious expression on his face.

"We're gonna need advice on this." he said.

Understanding his plan, I nodded firmly. Turning my attention back outside, we exited hyperspace and was welcomed by the Ghost. Once the Phantom lodged itself in the Ghost, the boys and I walked out and climbed down the ladder. Hera and Zeb were there to greet us.

"Well, you three seem fine. How's the Phantom?" Hera asked.

"I don't know. Chopper was flying." Ezra said, walking past the twe'lik.

"Oh, boy." Hera said.

I couldn't help but chuckle at the conversation.

"So, kid, you find us a base yet?" Zeb asked, fixing his bo-rifle.

"No, but we did find two Inquisitors." Ezra said.

"Oh, that's nothing new."

Watching the kid exit the room, Hera turned back to Kanan and me.

"She's waiting for you. Why did you have us meet you out here away from the fleet?" Hera asked.

"It's safer this way." Kanan said after a moment of silence.

"Agreed." I said.

Hera nodded in understanding and left us in the common room. Kanan sighed and started making his way out of the common room.

"We can never catch a break, can we?" I asked, following Kanan.

"The Empire won't even let us take a moment to breathe." Kanan replied.

Shaking my head, we stopped in front of a door where we heard Ezra's and Ahsoka's voices. They were talking about the Inquisitors. Kanan breathed out and opened the door.

"Speaking of Inquisitors... Ahsoka, what do you think about us doing the hunting for a change?" Kanan asked.

Ahsoka stood up and crossed her arms.

"When you defeated one, two more came. Who's to say we wouldn't multiply our problems yet again?" Ahsoka asked.

She's right. We'll just make things harder for ourselves...

"And there's Vader." Ezra commented.

"True." I said.

"I don't disagree. But the fact remains, we can't protect our friends from Vader and his Inquisitors. Zelara and I can barely protect you." Kanan said.

Just hearing that makes me feel so weak and hopeless...

"I don't need protecting." Ezra said with a confident grin.

"It's times like these that Anakin and I would turn to someone like Obi-Wan or Master Yoda. They always had the answer. Well, almost always." Ahsoka said.

"If only we ask one of them." I said.

"Then maybe we should ask Master Yoda." Kanan said.

I turned to Kanan with a surprised look on my face.

"How?" I asked.

Before we knew it, the four of us, along with Chopper, boarded the Phantom. Disconnecting from the Ghost, we jumped into hyperspace. As Kanan took the controls, Ezra, Ahsoka, and I stood behind him as we watched the blue streaks fly past us. When we came out of hyperspace, Lothal was there to greet us.

"Lothal? What are we doing here?" I asked.

"You'll see." Ezra said.

Landing the Phantom, the four of us walked out.

"Ezra, you're from Lothal?" Ahsoka asked.

"Yeah, this place is my home." Ezra said.

I smiled at the kid's words. When I tiled my head upwards, I marveled at the massive rock before us.

I've been on Lothal for a while, and I've never noticed this...

"Here it is. If two of you guys stand here, you can use the Force to open the temple." Ezra said.

This rock's a temple...? I'm not surprised anymore by that. This is Ezra's home.

"I cannot," Ahsoka said.

"Why?" Ezra asked.

"Because I am no longer a Jedi."

Confusion hit Ezra like a nail to the head.

"It was my choice; I left the Order." Ahsoka said, placing her hand on Ezra's shoulder.

Looking up at the temple, Ahsoka sighed and looked back at us.

"It's probably best if two of you guys open it." Ahsoka said, stepping back.

"All right then. Kanan? Zelara?" Ezra asked, looking up at us.

I stepped back next to Ahsoka and smiled.

I wanna see this.

Kanan walked up next to Ezra and the two of them shared a nod. Once they held out their hands, the rock started ascending to the sky. Ahsoka and I were fascinated by the sight.

"Hey, where's the door going?" Ezra said.

Looking to the side, I did see a doorway, but it was ascending higher into the sky. Once the rock came to a halt, there was a new door before us.

"This is new." Ezra commented.

"Well, new problem, new door." Kanan said.

"Chop, stay here. Keep an eye out." I said, following my friends.

Chopper warbled and saluted. Ahsoka, Kanan, and I followed the kid as we walked into the temple.

This is pretty cool. I've never seen or been in a Jedi temple before.

The four of us soon descended a few stairs into what appeared to be the center of the temple. Hearing rumbling, we turned around to see the door close behind us.

"How did you contact Master Yoda here?" Ahsoka asked.

"Well, he kind of contacted us." Kanan said.

Isn't that something...

"I thought I was dreaming when I first heard Master Yoda's voice." Ezra said

"And I was meditating." Kanan said.

"Then perhaps that's a good place to start." Ahsoka said.

"I agree." I said.

The four of us soon got in a circle and sat on our legs, closing our eyes, and beginning to meditate. The Force surrounded us like a gentle breeze.

"I see a doorway." I heard Kanan say.

"Where? I don't see anything." Ezra asked.

"Neither do I." Ahsoka said, looking around.

"I don't see anything either." I said.

Kanan soon stood up and looked at this so-call doorway he claims to see.

"Last time we spoke to Master Yoda, we were separated. Maybe this is my path alone," Kanan said, walking towards a wall.

"Be careful!" Ezra warned.

"Don't worry. I wouldn't do anything you would do."

I chuckled and shook my head fondly.

No one would do anything Ezra would do...

Suddenly, Kanan disappeared into the wall.

"Where'd he go? He just disappeared." Ezra said.

"As you know, these temples can be tricky." Ahsoka said.

"Now that I can believe." I said.

After a while, the three of us went back to meditating.

"Zelara..." a deep voice said.

It sounded familiar. When I opened my eyes, I was left with only Ahsoka.

Wonder what happened to Ezra...

Closing my eyes again, I resumed my meditating.

"Zelara..." the voice said.

When I opened my eyes, I was in a field of stars. Looking around me, I saw nothing but stars.

Where am I...?

When I turned back around, I was met with a Lothwolf.

"Atlas..." I said.

My Lothwolf friend grumbled and nodded. Breathing out, I sat down on my legs in front of him.

"Atlas, I need your help. The others and I are trying to take down Vader and his Inquisitors. How can we stop them?" I asked.

Atlas stayed silent; all I could hear was his breathing.

"Atlas, please. They're killing innocent people just to get to us. We need to put an end to them; we need to make them pay!" I said, standing up; my voice growing dark.

Atlas stood up and growled at me. My expression changed from anger to shock.

He never growled at me before...

"Anger..." he bellowed.

"I am angry. Angry at Vader and his Inquisitors," I said.

"Fear..."

"Yes, I fear for what could happen to my friends and the rebellion."

Atlas grumbled and took a step closer to me.

"Pressure..." he bellowed.

"Yes, I'm under a lot of pressure, and it's stressing me out." I said.

"Greatest... strength..."

I stared up at my Lothwolf friend, very confused.

"Greatest strength? What do you mean?" I asked.

"Well... under..." Atlas said.

The pieces gradually came together.

"You're saying that my greatest strength is that I work well under pressure?" I asked.

Atlas grumbled and shook his head.

"You... and... others..." Atlas bellowed.

Me and others...?

"You're saying me and my friends work well under pressure? And that is our greatest strength?" I asked.

Atlas back away and nodded. Then, dust and rock start to fall around us. Atlas's image soon began to falter.

"Go..." Atlas said.

"Wait. How does that help us?" I asked, shielding myself from the falling rocks.

When I looked up, I saw that Atlas was nowhere in sight.

"Atlas!" I cried.

The rocks soon started coming down more violently. When I looked around, I noticed that I was back in the temple.

I got to get out of here...!

Turning around, I sprinted out of the room. Once I was out, I was relieved when I saw Kanan, Ahsoka, and Ezra.

"Kanan, Ahsoka, Zelara, you won't believe what I..." Ezra began.

"Tell us later! Come on!" Kanan said.

The four of us didn't waste a second more heading towards the exit.

"Up ahead! The way out!" Kanan cried.

Once we made it out, the ground below us was cracking and rumbling as well. Looking overhead, we saw Chopper and the Phantom.

"Chopper!" Kanan cried.

Hovering the shuttle over the ground, Chopper started warbling.

"He says Imperial forces are on their way." Ezra said.

"Oh, how wonderful." I said, sarcasm poisoning my words.

Chopper opened the door and the four of us jumped inside. Once we were in, the door closed behind us and we flew into the night sky. The four of us leaned against the walls of the shuttle, trying to control our breathing.

"I saw Master Yoda," Ezra suddenly said.

"Saw him?" I asked.

"What did he say?" Kanan asked.

"He said to find Malachor. Who's Malachor?"

Kanan, Ahsoka, and I all exchanged looks of uncertainty.

"Malachor isn't a person. It's a place." Ahsoka said.

Yeah, a wasteland full of negative energy. My Master told me about it once.

"At least we're safe." I said.

"Yeah, for now..." Kanan said.

Dropping my gaze to the ground, I let out a deep sigh.

We may not have gotten the answers we hoped for, but we made it out of there. I can guarantee that this isn't the end, more like the beginning. The beginning of the end...

Hope you enjoyed this part. Surprisingly, this is actually shorter than most of my episode-based chapters. Suggestions are greatly appreciated and open. May the Force be with You!
