Paintball Battle Royale

Hey everyone! This suggestion was given to me by my sis BlackCat2907 Thanks so much! Enjoy!

"Finally, a day off!" Ezra said happily.

I breathed out with an agreeing smile.

The Rebels and I finally got a day off. With everything that's been going on, getting one of these days was somewhat "unheard" of. But we're grateful we got one.

We were on Atallon enjoying the day, sometimes helping around the base. I was sitting with Ezra at the edge of the base, watching the Crawlers scurry across the earth.

"I feel like every time we get a day off; we never know how to spend it." Ezra said.

"I couldn't agree more." I said.

After a few seconds of silence, our comms went off. Then, Sabine's voice came through.

"Ezra, Zel, come back to the Ghost. I've got something to show you guys." Sabine said.

The two of us got up and made our way back to the Ghost. When we arrived, Kanan, Hera, and Zeb were already there.

"So, what's this about, Sabine?" Hera asked.

"I noticed all of us are bored since we're used to doing work or go on missions," Sabine explained.

"Yeah...?" I asked.

"I've been thinking; why don't we have a little challenge?"

What the Mandalorian said caught our attention.

"What kind of challenge are we talking about?" Zeb asked.

"I was thinking something with color." Sabine said.

I raised a curious brow.

"Color?" Ezra asked.

"I kind of expected us to have a day off sooner or later, so I made this." Sabine said.

She then pulled out a blaster that looked like her own.

"A blaster?" Ezra asked.

"Not just a blaster." Sabine said.

She then pointed the blaster at Ezra. Everyone stepped back in shock.

"Whoa, Sabine! What are you doing?" Kanan asked.

Not listening, she pulled the blaster's trigger. When the blast hit Ezra in the chest, nothing happened. We stared at Ezra, waiting for him to fall over. When I looked closer at his chest, there wasn't a wound at all, just a spot of light blue paint. I let out a heavy sigh of relief.

I thought Sabine went crazy for a second...

"Paint?" Ezra asked.

"Yup. A paintball blaster. It may look like a normal blaster, but it fires balls of paint instead." Sabine said.

"That's actually really cool." Zeb said.

The others and I nodded in agreement.

"So, what's the challenge?" Hera asked.

"It'll be a 5V1 battle royale; me against the five of you. You guys will have two minutes to find the paintball blasters I scattered around the base. I will have to try and make it back to the Ghost," Sabine explained.

"What are the rules?" I asked.

"You guys will have five lives and I'll have ten. The number of lives will decrease depending on how many times we get hit. If I can make it back to the Ghost with lives still intact, the game will be over, and I would win. If I'm able to take out all of your lives, I win, but if you could take out all of my lives before I get to the Ghost, you win."

"Sounds like a fun challenge." Ezra said.

"I'm game." Zeb said.

Hera, Kanan, and I accepted the Mandalorian's challenge.

"Oh, I almost forgot. You can't use the Force to get your way." Sabine said, eyeing Kanan, Ezra, and I.

The three of us nodded in understanding.

"Even though it's not as fun if it's a fair fight." Ezra said casually.

I rolled my eyes with a grin on my face.

"So, when do we begin?" Kanan asked.

After a while of setting up, the others and I got in position. Chopper was around to tell us when to start. When Chopper warbled a "GO," we sprinted around the base looking for the paintball blasters. I soon found a blaster on top of a crate.

They looked like Mandalorian blasters, but they were slightly different in style and design.

I picked it up and continued searching. I soon found three blasters when our two minute time was up.

"Ready or not guys, here I come!" Sabine said through our comms.

Sabine was about a couple of meters away from the base to get a head start. It was our mission to make sure she doesn't make it to the Ghost with no lives. I was sitting on top of a cliff, trying to get a bird's eye view of where Sabine was.

"Any sign of her?" Zeb asked through my comm.

"Nothing so far." I replied.

When I looked back down at the ground, I saw Sabine making her way across the plains.

"I don't think so..." I muttered.

I held out the blaster and fired at the young teenager.

Yes! Direct hit!

"Good shot to whoever fired at me. But I still got nine lives, so don't celebrate just yet." Sabine said through the comms.

I sprinted across the cliff to make it to the base's hanger. I hid behind a crate and waited for Sabine to come by. I soon heard footsteps nearby, and I smiled as I cocked my weapon. When the footsteps got closer, I jumped out and pointed my weapon at who I thought was Sabine.

"Oh, AP-5," I said, lowering my weapon.

"Might I ask what is going on?" he asked.

"Sorry, the others and I are playing a game."

AP-5 cocked his head to the side.

"A game that involves blasters?" he asked.

"It's hard to explain." I said.

I then saw something fly past me and hit a nearby crate. It was a blob of green paint. I turned around and saw Sabine.

"Surprise!" she said, firing again.

I ducked and quickly hid behind another crate.

If only I could use the Force...

Readying my weapon, I sprinted across the hanger and fired at Sabine. She gracefully dodged every single blast.

She's too quick and nimble, I can't get a lock on her...

As I was running, Sabine fired a paintball and managed to hit me, and a purple paint blob was left on my shirt.

"Four lives left, Zel. Want to make it three?" Sabine asked, firing rapidly.

I ducked behind a crate and heard the paintballs colliding with the crate.

"Guys, Sabine's in the hanger!" I said into my comm.

"On my way." Zeb said.

When the firing ceased, I took a quick peek and saw that Sabine was gone.

I keep forgetting that girl doesn't stay in one place for too long...

"Guys, Sabine's gone. Stay alert." I said.

"Affirmative, Zel." Hera said.

I cautiously walked from my hiding spot and scouted the entire hanger, but Sabine was nowhere in sight. I let out a sigh and made my way to the briefing area. Sure enough, Sabine was there cautiously checking her surroundings. I looked to my side and saw Zeb. I nodded with and smile and he nodded back as we crept on Sabine.

"Now!" Zeb cried.

His outburst made Sabine turn around in surprise. When we fired at Sabine, we managed to take out two more of her lives before she ran out of the briefing area.

Three lives down, seven more to go.

"We've got to lead her towards Kanan and the others." Zeb said.

"Right." I said.

We ran out of the briefing area and started looking for Sabine.

"Any visuals on Sabine?" Kanan asked through my comm.

"No, we lost her when she ran out of the briefing area." I said.

"She has seven lives left, and she's getting awfully close to the Ghost." Zeb said.

"Keep your eyes peeled guys." Hera said.

"Roger that, Hera." Ezra said.

While Zeb and I were walking around the base, I stopped when I heard a blaster cocking.

"Zeb, move!" I cried.

Before Zeb could heed my warning, he was pelted with three paintballs before we both ducked down.

"Karabast!" Zeb said.

I looked on his back and saw splashes of red, pink, and orange paint.

"I've got only two lives left." Zeb said.

"Don't worry, the others still have five... I hope..." I said.

I looked around and saw that the coast was clear.

"Come on." I said.

Zeb readied his weapon and walked out with me.

"Any sign of her?" I asked.

"Yeah, I only got two lives left, but I managed to get Sabine's lives down to five." Ezra said.

"I've got two. She snuck up behind us." Zeb said.

"Sabine is known for doing that." Hera said.

I let out a defeated sigh.

"You would think that since there are more of us, we would be able to take Sabine down." Ezra said.

"Well, Sabine can handle herself pretty well when the odds are against her." Kanan said.

"Not helping." I said.

"Be on the lookout." Hera said.

Zeb and I soon made our way cargo hold.

"She's definitely here. There are so many places for her to hide." Zeb said.

What the Lasat said appeared sound. Some crates were as tall or taller than Zeb and could really cover someone up if they don't want to be found.

"I'll take the high ground and scout from above," I said.

"I'll be on the lookout from the ground," Zeb said.

"Be careful. You only got two lives left."

"Kind of hard to forget."

We nodded to each other and went our separate ways. I jumped up on a crate and scouted the ground from above.

Where could she be...?

I looked all around until I saw Sabine on the other side of the hanger. I saw her cock her weapon and aim it downwards. I followed her weapon downward until I saw who she was aiming at.

Zeb...

I quickly ran across the crates and jumped down in front of Zeb. I then felt three paintballs hit my back. I sighed and looked up at Zeb.

"You alright?" I asked.

"Why'd you take the hit for me?" he asked.

"I don't want anyone out of this game just yet."

Zeb huffed out a chuckle and smiled.

"Quite heroic of you, Zelara, but now you only have one life." Sabine said.

I quickly turned around and fired at the Mandalorian. She titled her helmeted head to the side and chuckled.

"You're going to have to do a lot better than that." Sabine said.

Zeb raised his blaster and fired at Sabine twice. He missed the first shot but stuck the second.

"Now you've only got four lives." I said.

Sabine quickly saluted and sprinted across the crates.

"Kanan, Hera, Sabine's coming your way." I said while Zeb and I ran after her.

"Copy that, Zel." Kanan said.

"Watch your backs. She's coming from the cargo hold across the crates." Zeb said.

"Got it." Hera said.

Zeb and I picked up the pace until we reached the Ghost. We soon saw Ezra run up to us.

"How'd everything go with you two?" he asked.

"I took the hit for Zeb and ended up with one life left." I said.

"Sabine has four lives left. We got to get her before she reaches the Ghost." Zeb said.

Ezra looked at me with sympathy before nodding firmly.

"Where's Hera and Kanan?" Ezra asked.

As if on cue, we saw the Jedi and Twe'lik run up to us. Both had splashes of paint on them.

"What happened to you guys?" Zeb asked.

"We ambushed her at the cargo hold exit, but not before she got us both." Kanan said.

"We both have two lives left." Hera said.

"What about Sabine? Did you get her at least?" Ezra asked.

The two of them exchanged a smile and turned back to us.

"She only has one life left." Hera said.

My eyes widened in surprise.

"We might have a chance to win this." Zeb said.

"Let's go after her." Ezra said.

"Not so fast, Ezra." I said, placing a hand on the kid's shoulder.

Ezra calmed down and turned to face me with a confused look.

"What's wrong?" he asked.

"We can't just go after Sabine. Just because she only has one life left, doesn't mean she won't be able to pull a victory. Remember, you all have two lives left, and I only have one. We need to form a plan." I said.

"What did you have in mind?" Kanan asked.

With a smile, I explained my plan. When the others understood, we got in position. I climbed up on top of the Ghost and hid behind the cannons. I looked over my shoulder and watched the others in their hiding places. I then saw Sabine in the distance.

"I know you guys are here, I can see your heat signatures. Whatever you guys have planned; it's not going to work." Sabine said.

Everything remained silent. She shook her head in amusement and started making her way to the Ghost. Hera and Zeb popped out and both fired two shots. Sabine anticipated this and flipped of reach. The shots Hera and Zeb fired collided into them, eliminating them from the game.

"Nice try." Sabine said.

She then picked up the pace, quickly making her way to the Ghost. That's when Kanan and Ezra came out and fired at the Mandalorian. Sabine quickly ducked her head and watch the paintballs hit the two Jedi. Not missing a beat, she fired at the boys, taking them out of the game.

All going according to plan...

"I must say, the plan of yours was a smart one, but you're just no match for me." Sabine said, turning to face them.

She then walked back towards the Ghost, about to claim her victory. I smiled and leaned over the cannons' dome. I took a deep breath and fired at her. It felt like everything was going in slow motion. When I saw the paintball about to hit her, Sabine lunged to the side and avoided the paintball.

No...!

"Good shot, Zelara." Sabine said, turning around.

She pulled out her blaster and fired it. I got lucky when I ducked down and avoided the paintball.

"But not good enough." Sabine said.

If I could only use the Force, I could win this whole thing...

Then, an idea popped into my head. With a knowing grin, I quietly slid into the Ghost and made my way to the ramp. Placing my ear against the ramp, I heard Sabine's gloating.

"Looks like I won. All I have to do is open the ramp, walk in the Ghost, and claim my victory." Sabine said.

I quickly removed my ear and readied my weapon as the ramp fell open. When I saw Sabine, I smiled and aimed my weapon at her.

"Sorry, it has to be this way, Sabine." I said.

When Sabine turned around in surprise, I fired a paintball at her and left a bright pink paint spot on her armor.

"But it looks like WE win." I said.

Ezra and the others began to cheer. Sabine took off her helmet and smiled.

"I hate to admit it, but you guys won fair and square." Sabine said, looking at us.

We all smiled at one another.

"That was really fun if I do say so myself." I said.

"Yeah. I can't wait to do this again." Ezra said.

"Same." Zeb said.

"I have to admit, I would definitely play this again when we have another day off." Hera said.

"Same here." Kanan said.

What Kanan said kind of surprised me.

"Well, before the day's done, let's get cleaned up. I don't want this paint to stain my clothes." Ezra said.

We all laughed and walked into the Ghost to wash up. Chopper rolled in and when he saw us, he made a sound as if he were laughing.

"Shut up, Chopper." I said.

"Unless you want to look like us." Sabine said, pointer her paintball blaster at him.

Chopper warbled in panic. The others laughed at his reaction.

I really hope our next day off comes quickly because I want to play this again, but with the ability to use the Force...
