Lothal Through Their Eyes

Continuation of "My Ex-Pirate" Enjoy!

It's been a few months since I joined the Rebels, and nothing really seemed to change. I met a lot of different people, like Ahsoka and Captain Rex. I even found out that we're part of a greater rebellion. An amazing amount of people that speak out against the Empire.

I'm glad to be part of the Rebels...

Right now, the Rebels and I are on Lothal, making sure everything was in check. I was walking around the plains, chatting away with Ezra.

Thankfully, everything was in check. Thanks to the Loth-wolves protecting Lothal in my absence, Lothal was becoming a little safer...

"Sometimes I still can't believe that you grew up here on Lothal." I said to Ezra.

"Yeah. There's no place like home." Ezra said.

I nodded with a smile.

Even after losing his parents, Ezra still puts on a brave face and fights for what he loves. Now, he's a Padawan, fighting for the galaxy... I honestly couldn't be prouder of him...

"So, what do you think of Lothal, Zela? I mean, three years is long enough for you to feel something," Ezra said.

"I'm five, going on six, years older than you. I'm not that old, kid," I said.

"Just saying."

"But really though. Lothal is a wonderful place. Even though the planet is under the Empire's control, it's the people and the creatures that make this place special."

Ezra nodded firmly.

"Exactly what I feel." Ezra said.

I nodded and smiled softly at the boy. Ezra and I made our way back to the Ghost, where Sabine was waiting for us.

"Hey Sabine," I said.

"Hey, you two. Z, there's this new painting I've been working on, and I need your help with it. Think you can help?" Sabine asked.

"Sure. You lead, I follow."

Sabine smiled and began to walk. I waved goodbye to Ezra and began to follow the blue and teal haired Rebel. I walked into Sabine's cabin and saw a lot of paintings around the room. On the walls and on the ceiling.

"You did all of these?" I asked.

"Yup, sure did." Sabine said.

"They're amazing..."

I really was in awe. She's an amazing artist...

"Okay, so what do you need help with?" I asked.

"Oh, I don't need help with anything." Sabine said.

I did a double-take and gave the girl a confused look.

"What do you mean?" I asked.

"I heard about what happened, to you... and your parents..." Sabine said.

My face darkened and felt tears well up in my eyes.

"Zelara, I'm so sorry. Coming from someone who been through a similar situation, I know how it feels..." Sabine said in a soft voice.

Not wanting to cry, I slightly turned away from Sabine.

"You're not alone anymore, Zelara. You have us, the Resistance, and the Lothwolves. We've all been through that time one way or another, but that's in the past. We're all in this together, no matter what." Sabine said.

I turned back to her and wiped away my tears. I then gave her a soft smile.

"Thanks, Sabine..." I said.

"Anytime..." she said.

Sabine is an amazing friend and a wonderful young woman... I'm glad we're friends...

Later that afternoon, I was walking back to the Lothwolf den to see how Atlas and the others were doing. I walked past the rocks to see all the other wolves, eyes following my movements. I then saw Atlas standing in the center of the rock pillars' clearing.

"It's been a while, Atlas..." I said.

Atlas walked up to me bowed his head. I did the same. I then cup his giant head and placed his forehead on mine.

"I missed you..." I said.

"Welcome home..." Atlas said.

I stepped back and smiled. Atlas smiled inwardly. Then, I had a great idea.

"Atlas, can you and some of the others do me a favor?" I asked.

Atlas quizzically cocked his head to the side. A few minutes later, I returned to the Ghost to see Kanan and Ezra waiting for me. The sea of the night was soon drowning the world in its beautiful darkness.

"Hey, where were you this afternoon?" Kanan asked.

"Just visiting some old friends..." I said.

"Really? How are they?" Ezra asked.

"They're good... Speaking of which, there's something waiting for you tomorrow. You're welcome to come along for the ride, too, Kanan."

The Master and Padawan looked at me quizzically.

"What is it?" Ezra asked.

"Like I said. You must wait and see tomorrow. For now, let's get some shuteye." I said.

I patted the boys' shoulders as I walked by to my cabin. I sat on my bed and then smiled. I looked up to the metal ceiling and sighed.

I can't wait to see the look on Ezra's face...

The new day soon dawned, and Ezra, Kanan, and I were bright and early, standing on a flat stone in the plains of Lothal.

"So, what are we doing here anyway?" Kanan asked.

"You'll see. Hold your hand out to the plains. Connect with me, and then project out." I instructed.

I soon held out my hand and began to connect with the creatures of the Lothal. Ezra and Kanan didn't ask any further questions and did the same. A few seconds later, we opened our eyes and saw Atlas and two other Loth-wolves standing before us: a white wolf and a black wolf.

"Whoa..." Ezra said.

"For someone who spent his whole life on Lothal, you're acting as you've never seen these guys before." I said.

"I know how Ezra feels. Loth-wolves are extremely connected to the Force, and just to stand in their presence is an honor." Kanan said.

Atlas and the others walked up to us and bent down. I walked over to Atlas and got on his back.

"Hop on," I said turning to the boys.

"You want us to ride them?" Ezra asked.

"Yup. They know who you guys are, so they trust you. This was my surprise."

Ezra's face lit up like the morning sun.

His expression was so cute...

Kanan got on the black wolf and Ezra got on the white one. The wolves got up and walked up to the edge of the rock.

"I want to show you what Lothal looks like from a different perspective; through their eyes." I said patting Atlas's head.

Atlas groaned and shook out his fur.

"Ready guys?" I asked.

The two Jedi nodded.

"Alright Atlas, let's show them OUR Lothal." I said.

As if what I said was a command, Atlas jumped off the rock and sprinted across the plains with the two other wolves following. The fresh, morning breeze, hit us and it was refreshing. We felt the soft pounding of the wolves' paws stomping the ground in our hearts.

Riding on Lothwolves always makes me feel so free...

"So, what do you guys think?" I asked looking next to me.

"This is awesome!" Ezra cried.

"So cool!" Kanan said.

I smiled brightly.

"Time to see what the wolves see," I said.

"How?" Ezra asked.

"Connect with the wolf and only the wolf. Soon, you'll be seeing what it sees."

I placed my hand on Atlas's head and began to connect with him. Kanan and Ezra did the same. When we opened our eyes, everything was black and white; everything was so much bigger and clearer.

"This is so cool!" Ezra cried happily.

As we were passing by many different creatures, they were blue.

"Whoa, why was that Lothcat just blue?" Kanan asked.

"Because it's Force-sensitive. That's how Loth-wolves see the world. They can see the Force, and who or what is sensitive to it." I said.

"Is that how they see us?" Ezra asked.

I nodded towards the young Padawan. We went all around Lothal; the sun began to set.

I know Ezra, Kanan, and the others have been around this planet over a hundred times, but the way these two are now... they're acting like this is their first time on Lothal...

"Alright Atlas, time to show these guys our favorite spot of all." I said.

Atlas nodded and his strides became quicker. Atlas and the other wolves soon stopped on top of a cliff that overlooked Lothal's plains. The boys and I got off the wolves and walked to the edge of the cliff, staring at the sunset.

"I've seen this sunset over a thousand times, but it feels like I'm seeing it for the first time..." Ezra said.

"Lothal is a beautiful place. What can I say about this planet that hasn't already been said?" I asked.

The two Jedi nodded in agreement.

"Even in darkness... Lothal's light... will never fade..." Atlas bellowed.

"I think so, too." I said.

"I second that notion." Kanan said.

"I third it." Ezra said.

We all watched the moon rise in the distance and saw the stars come out to play with smiles on our faces.

"We better start heading back to the Ghost, or Hera will have our heads." Kanan joked.

Ezra and I nodded with smiles and hopped back on the wolves.

"Back to where we started, Atlas." I said.

Atlas nodded and bolted down the cliff with his companions in tow. As the wolves were sprinting, Atlas and the others began to howl. I couldn't help but smile and howl myself. Ezra and Kanan looked at each other and smiled. The next thing I knew, I heard the boys howling as well.

Seeing through the eyes of other living creatures can really be beneficial as you walk the path of life. Everyone and everything looks at the world differently, and as a Jedi, we see with the Force. We see the world not as it is, but what it could be. I think Ezra and Kanan understand that now...

Hey everyone! Hope you enjoyed this chapter. I'm trying to put little morals into my chapters, just like this one. "Any experience can be transformed into something of value." -Vash Young. The next part is either going to be my own, based off an episode, or a "slice of life" skit. I don't know yet, but I know you guys are going to enjoy it! May the Force be with You!
