Forgotten Memories and Uncovered Secrets

First, a huge thank you to my IRL friend, Xaliber_gaming28, for giving me this suggestion and helping me with certain details for this part. Continuation of "Homecoming" Enjoy!

"Ah... It's nice to be back on Lothal for a change." Ezra said.

"I agree." I said.

The Rebels and I were on Lothal to make sure everything was in order. Thanks to the Lothwolves, there were only minor problems on Lothal. Ezra and I were relaxing in the fields, accompanied by some Lothcats. I stared off to the side and allowed myself to be lost in thought.

So much has happened over the few years I've been with the Rebels. I met legendary Jedi Masters, met Zunela, reunited with Isen, Diella, and Kayla, acquired a new lightsaber, met Aralez, battled and ended Crowvern, and made a new friend, Nerezza. Can't believe all of that happened in such little time. Such is the way of things...

"Zelara?" asked a voice.

My head shot up to the sound of my name. Turning my head, I saw Ezra with a puzzled look on his face.

"Yes, Ezra?" I asked.

"You okay? You must've been really deep in thought. I've been calling your name for almost 6 minutes now." Ezra said.

My eyes widened at the time duration.

"Really? Well, sorry for worrying you." I said.

"What were you thinking about?" Ezra asked.

I leaned my head back against the rock behind me and exhaled a heavy sigh. The Lothcat that was on my lap leaped off and snuggled under my stray hand.

"Just thinking about all the memories I've made with you and the others over the years." I said.

"Yeah, I agree. So much has happened ever since you arrived. The adventures we went on, the planets we visited, the people we befriended, the allies we made." Ezra said, smiling.

I smiled at my Padawan and turned my attention to the endless, rolling fields.

I know there is still so much the galaxy has to offer us, but... are we ready for it...? Am I ready for it...?

I was soon brought back to reality when I felt a strong presence next to me. Turning my head upwards, I saw Atlas staring down at me with his piercing blue eyes.

"It's good to see you again, Atlas." I said, placing my hand on his nose.

Atlas let out a low groan and placed his nose on my cheek. His kind gesture brought a smile to my face.

"I'm going to head back to the Ghost. Are you coming?" Ezra asked, standing up.

"I'll catch up with you in a little while." I said.

Ezra nodded and started walking back to the Ghost. I let out a sigh before looking up at Atlas.

"Ever since I met you and the Rebels, things have never been so different." I said.

Atlas breathed out and nodded.

"But I know there is so much the galaxy has in store for us; has in store for me. And I know that there are still so many secrets my mother has back at home on Maitlyn, I just... have to find them." I said.

Atlas groaned and laid his large head in my lap. The Lothcat under my hand retreated and climbed on Atlas's head, soon getting comfortable and laying down. I smiled down at the two creatures and ran my fingers through the hazel and silver fur. I looked up at the clear sky and let a sigh disappear into the air.

What other secrets are you hiding from me, Momma...?

Patting Atlas, he lifted his head off my lap and allowed me to stand up.

"Well, I'm heading back to the Ghost. You're welcome to come along." I said.

Atlas shook his head and turned around, walking back to the den. I sighed as I watched him go. Turning tails, I started heading back to the Ghost. Upon my arrival, I saw Sabine leaning against the open ramp.

"Good, you're back," Sabine said.

"Why, what's wrong?" I asked.

"Nothing. Everyone else was waiting for you. We were heading to Maitlyn to pick up some supplies."

My eyes widened in surprise.

This can't be a coincidence...

"Really?" I asked.

"Yeah. Come on." Sabine said.

I followed the Mandalorian with a wide grin on my face. Once the ramp closed, the Ghost left the surface blasted off into space. Letting out a deep sigh, I walked into my cabin and sat down on my bed.

While on Maitlyn, I can dig up any old secrets Momma probably kept hidden from me...

My thoughts were soon interrupted by a knock at my door.

"Come in." I said.

The metal door slid open and revealed my astromech friend.

"Hey Chopper." I said sweetly.

When Chopper was in reach, I patted his orange dome. Chopper let out a purr like sound. I smiled and huffed out a chuckle. Chopper soon began warbling and buzzing.

"Yeah. I'm going to see if my mother left anything behind for me; anything I could've missed. Wanna join me in my search?" I asked.

Chopper warbled and spun his dome happily. His response made me laugh.

"Okay, okay. Calm down. Once we arrive, we'll head to my house to see if I missed anything. We'll then stop by my father's old workplace to see if my mother left anything there. Sound good?" I asked.

Chopper warbled and saluted. I smiled and patted the astromech's dome. When I felt the ship land, I walked out of my room with Chopper at my side. Once the ramp was down, the others and I walked out onto Maitlyn's fields. Chopper and I followed the others for a while before going our separate ways. Once we arrived at my old house, I opened the door and was surprised to see it all in order.

It must have stayed like this ever since Kanan, Ezra, and I met the legendary Jedi Masters... Geez, that was a while ago...

I went straight to my room and started my search with Chopper's help.

"Find anything, Chop?" I asked.

When Chopper warbled, my head shot straight up.

"Wait, what did you find?" I asked.

Chopper repeated himself with a small disk in his metal hand.

"This isn't a disk, it's a hologram." I said, taking the item from Chopper.

Turning on the hologram, an image of my mother appeared.

"Momma..." I said.

"Zelara, by the time you see this, I'm already watching you from the stars. You are probably looking for more of the belongings that may trace back to me in regards to being a former Jedi. You were always persistent, one of the many things I loved about you. Well, if you are looking for answers, go to your father's old workplace in the city, the old Resistance base. Once there, go into the base's bunker and you will find something that will be very useful to you."

She then faded away. I turned to Chopper with a wide grin on my face.

"Come on, Chop!" I said, running out of my room.

Chopper warbled and sped after me. I sprinted out the door and continued onward to the old Resistance base.

Something that could be useful to me...? Wonder what it is...?

Once we arrived, I let out a heavy sigh as I looked up at Father's old workplace. It was a tall, off-white building with multiple levels with a secret bunker that only a few workers, my parents, and I knew about.

Father used to bring me here all the time. When he knew he was going to have one of those boring workdays, he'd always take me along, because he knew I would make his day less boring.

Chopper warbled and buzzed.

"Yup. My father used to work here. He was a professor who worked in certain fields, including engineering, mechanics, he even made his own droid." I said.

Chopper warbled loudly and spun his dome.

"I don't know if it's still here. Come on, we're not going to find out anything if we stand out here gawking at the building all day." I said, walking ahead.

Warbling his response, Chopper followed me inside the facility. Everything inside was pure white and a reddish-orange, colors of the Resistance.

It felt kind of weird that this place was so quiet, desolate, and deserted. It was never like this when I was younger.

"Stay close to me, Chop. It's easy to get lost in here. Place is like a maze..." I said.

Chopper buzzed and stayed right at my side. Coming up on a lift, I placed my hand on the scanner and watched it turn green.

Surprised this place still recognizes me.

Walking inside the lift, I pressed the button for the ground level. Chopper buzzed and warbled suddenly, frantically waving his metal hands around.

"Relax and trust me, Chop. I know this place like the back of my hand. Once we're on the ground level, we'll head to the secret bunker." I said.

Chopper then warbled a question that caught me off guard.

"My father's old droid? His name was Calico. Father patched him up using bits and pieces from two different droids: C-series protocol and A-series assassin. I think you and him would've gotten along well, Chop." I said, patting said astromech's dome.

Chopper warbled and spun his dome happily. Once we reached the ground level, the two of us walked out of the lift and gazed at the old equipment.

"Place must've been abandoned for years..." I mumbled.

Running my fingers along a piece of equipment, I saw that it was very dusty, like it hasn't been cleaned before.

"The bunker is this way. Come on Chop." I said.

Warbling his response, Chopper rolled up next to me. Once at my side, I walked to the far end of the room until I reached a pile of crates. Pushing them aside, a hatch could be seen. Using the Force, I opened said hatch without a problem.

"Come on, Chop." I said, climbing down the hatch's ladder.

Chopper buzzed and spun his dome.

"Yes, the hatch is big enough for you. Come on, we haven't got all day." I said.

Chopper powered up his rocket and flew down the hatch. Once I reached the bottom, it was surprisingly dark.

"Chopper, flashlight." I said.

Chopper buzzed and his flashlight turned on, making the room a lot brighter. The astromech soon warbled a question.

"This bunker was used in case of emergency, but since nothing happened, it was used to keep all unnecessary junk and clutter." I said.

As I was walking, I suddenly bumped into something that caused me to fall backward.

What the...?

Looking up at object, almost immediately I recognized what it was.

"Chop, lend me your light." I said, getting back on my feet.

Doing as I requested, Chopper rolled up next to me and flashed his light upwards. My face broke into a wide grin.

"I don't believe it..." I mumbled.

Calico...

Circling around my father's old droid, I saw that he was powered down and very rusty. Chopper warbled and tapped Calico's leg, the clang of the metal echoing throughout the bunker.

"Yup, this is Calico. I'm surprised he's still here." I said.

Chopper warbled and buzzed a question.

"I don't think this is what my mother was talking about. Sure, Calico was very helpful, but I doubt this is what my mother meant." I said.

Chopper moved away from Calico, shining his light every which way. After a while, Chopper warbled loudly.

"Wait. What did you find?" I asked.

Chopper then repeated himself more frantically. My eyes widened at what I heard.

"A starship...?" I mumbled.

Walking over to Chopper, my eyes made contact with a large starship. Recognizing the ship parts, I concluded that it was a Jedi starfighter.

"Wow. I've never seen a Jedi starfighter before." I said.

The answer hit me like a rock.

"This was my mother's... I can't believe she piloted this." I said smiling.

Chopper buzzed and spun his dome excitedly.

"You're right, Chop. This will be useful for me and the rest of the Rebellion." I said.

Opening the hatch, I climbed inside and admired the interior.

A little dusty, but I think I can spruce it up to make it look good as new.

Looking at the control panel, I noticed a hologram and picked it up. Playing it, an image of my mother appeared.

"Looks like you found my old starfighter. She's rusty, but she'll do. After the war, I hid it in the bunker and with the help of your father and Calico, we added some special features, hoping that one day, the ship will become useful to you."

Hearing this brought a smile to my face.

"The shields were taken from a bomber. Dual medium laser cannons and two ion cannons, one on each wing. There are concussion missile launchers on the belly. The black and white flaps by the engines are solar panels that double as air brakes in the atmosphere. The base of the ship is a Jedi starfighter with A-wing and Y-wing accents. Your father added a stealth mode feature for extra protection."

Hearing all the features on this ship made me feel unworthy to be even sitting in the pilot's seat.

"I hope this ship helps you with whatever you're striving for. I love you so much, my little star, and I hope to see you in the stars one day."

Her image then faded away. Hugging the hologram to my chest, I hopped out and bent down in front of Chopper.

"Wanna help me get this beauty out of here?" I asked.

Chopper spun his dome and saluted.

"But first, I think Calico needs a wake-up call." I said, standing up.

Walking over to the old droid, I opened his back and started repairing his wires and circuits. Once I was complete, I was disappointed when Calico didn't turn on.

"Hm... How did Father power him up again...?" I mumbled.

Walking in front of Calico, I noticed a button in the shape of a star in the middle of his chest. Pressing it, the outline of the star began to glow a bright blue.

"Voice activation required." the metallic female voice said.

Right, Dad always made sure his inventions and equipment were voice-activated. The only voices that work are his, my mother's, and mine.

"Zelara June." I said.

To my surprise, the old droid's eyes started glowing.

"Zelara June. Daughter of Kent and Heidi June." he said.

He's working...!

"Calico, it's me. Zelara." I said.

Hearing my voice, Calico turned his head to me. His speech then started faltering, as if he were trying to remember.

His memory circuits must be damaged...

Chopper warbled and then gave Calico a powerful shock. Calico's speech soon became clear.

"Zelara...?" he asked.

A wide smile spread across my face.

"Yes, Calico. It's me," I said.

"My word, you've grown up. Wait. How long have I been shut down?" Calico asked.

"I don't know..."

"Where are Heidi and Kent?"

I cast my gaze to the ground as my face turned grim.

"They're... dead, Calico. They died 16 years ago..." I admitted.

"Oh, dear. I am dreadfully sorry... I cannot believe I have been shut down for 16 years." Calico said.

I looked up at the droid with a reassuring smile.

"It's okay. I'll tell you everything once we clean you up." I said.

Chopper warbled and hit my leg with his metal hands.

"Right. Calico, this is C1-10P, or as everyone likes to call him, Chopper." I said.

Chopper spun his dome and saluted to Calico.

"It is a pleasure to make your acquaintance, Chopper." Calico said.

After telling Calico about Momma's ship, he was ready to help Chopper and I get it out of the bunker. Walking over to the large hunk of metal, I opened the hatch and got into the ship.

"Calico and Chopper, go and open the bunker's emergency hanger doors while I get this ship back and running again." I said.

"Right away, Lady Zelara." Calico said.

When Chopper saluted, the two droids rushed to the other end of the bunker. Looking down at the control panel, I took a deep breath before pressing a few buttons. Then, the engine flared to life.

"Perfect. Now, let's see if she can fly." I said, grasping the controls.

Seeing that the hanger doors were wide open, I carefully lifted the ship of the ground and flew it out the doors.

Yes! It can fly! Momma would be so proud...

Landing the ship in front of the bunker's hanger doors, I hopped out with a wide grin on my face.

"I'm glad this beauty can still fly. Now, all it needs is a tune-up and a quick paintjob." I said to the two droids.

"I know for a fact that Heidi would be very pleased to see you taking a liking to her ship." Calico said.

Chopper warbled in agreement. I breathed out with a kind smile. Them, my wrist-comm started beeping.

"I read you Hera," I said.

"It's been almost all day, I wanted to check up on you and Chopper," she said.

"We're great, actually. Sorry for just running off without telling you."

"Don't be. I understand. Maitlyn's your home."

I smiled at the twe'lik's words.

"Do you need us to come pick you up before we head back to Atollon?" Hera asked.

"Actually, no. Chopper and I will be able to get there on our own," I said.

"Are you sure?"

"Trust me."

"Alright, if you say so. Stay safe."

"Will do."

Cutting the connection, I sighed before turning to the two droids.

"Come on, you two." I said climbing in the ship.

Calico climbed into the cockpit behind me while Chopper locked himself in the astromech space on the wing. Powering up the ship, I lifted it off the ground and flew into the infinite space. After putting in the coordinates, the ship dashed into hyperspace.

Thank you, Momma... This will definitely help us out...

When we came out of hyperspace, Atollon was in view. Entering the planet's atmosphere, I flew down to Chopper Base and landed next to the Ghost. Seeing the others, I climbed out of the cockpit with a wide grin on my face.

"Whoa, awesome ship, Zela." Ezra said.

"Thanks, kid. It was my mother's. She used to fly it during the war," I said.

"What ship is it?" Kanan asked.

"A Jedi starfighter, modernized and upgraded with pieces of an A-wing and Y-wing."

"Wow. That's one fine ship." Hera said.

Being a pilot, I'm not surprised Hera liked the ship.

I turned around when I heard Calico walk up behind me.

"Who's the droid?" Zeb asked.

"Greetings. I am Calico, property of Lady Zelara." he said.

"He was my father's old droid. Patched up with pieces from a C-series protocol and A-series assassin," I explained.

"So, he's a fighter?" Sabine asked.

"Once I fix him up, he'll be good as new."

Sabine nodded and turned her head towards the starfighter.

"That ship looks pretty old and rusty," Sabine said.

"But she flies like nothing you've ever seen. I was going to ask you to help me paint it, but if you think it's too old to be made look like new..." I said, eyeing the Mandalorian.

"Anything can look like new with a little paint. Just tell me the colors, and we'll have this ship look like it was made for a Jedi like you."

I smiled at my friend and turned to Calico.

"Come on Calico. Let's get you fixed. Sabine, think you can lend a hand?" I asked.

"I've got two." she said, following my lead.

The two of us spent the rest of the day repairing Calico, giving him new a modulation circuit and power cell. We even gave him a cool new paint job. In the past, he was orange, black, and white, but now he's silver, black, and gold.

"Looking good Calico," Sabine said.

"Thank you, Ms. Sabine. Thank you, Lady Zelara." Calico said.

"Tomorrow Sabine, we'll start working on the ship." I said.

"Fine by me. As long as I get to paint something."

Saying goodnight, I led Calico into my cabin and powered him down. Laying on my bunk, I breathed out a heavy sigh and smiled.

"Thanks Momma..." I mumbled.

I soon drifted off into a peaceful slumber.

Finding Calico and Momma's ship, I feel like I've recovered a piece of me that I knew I was missing. I feel... closer to them, somehow...

Morning came, and Sabine and I started working on the ship. We first cleaned off all the rust and dust that stained the ship.

"Good, now that the ship's clean, let's get to painting it." I said.

Sabine nodded and pulled out her spray paints. Picking the colors that I thought would suit this ship, we began our work. After what felt like an hour, we climbed off the ship and looked at the new Jedi starfighter.

"You were right, Zel. Silver, navy blue, light blue, white, and black do go nice together." Sabine said.

"Told you." I said.

Looking at the white hull, I saw a navy blue Rebellion symbol.

"And I love the Rebellion symbol against the hull." I said.

"Knew you would." Sabine said.

I let out a sigh and smiled.

"I know your mother would've loved this." Sabine said.

"No denying that." I said.

Imagining my mother's smile made my smile grow wider in size.

"Now that's a starfighter." said a voice behind me.

Turning around, I saw Hera and the others.

"It looks amazing, you guys." Ezra said.

"Thanks kid." Sabine said.

"So, what are you going to call your ship, Zelara?" Zeb asked.

I hummed in thought as I pondered the Lasat's question. I smiled and turned to face the ship.

"From now on, this Jedi starfighter will be known as the June Atlas." I said.

I'M SO SORRY FOR THE LONG WAIT😔😓😫😞😟😩
So much family drama; I couldn't find time to write. I hope this makes up for it. The next few parts are going to be based off some of my favorite episodes from the show.

May the Force be with You!
