A Mission for Rebel Women
Continuation of "Forgotten Memories and Uncovered Secrets" Enjoy!
It was a short while after Chopper and I found Calico and my mother's ship. Everything was going by pretty smoothly, nothing too out of the ordinary. Kanan, Ezra, and I would train one minute, an important mission the next.
The Empire has become a lot scarier ever since Thrawn came into power, and the threats have worsened. Luckily, Diella and her Starbreaker Brigade have been taking care of problems within her system, and Kayla and Nerezza have been tackling any problem they run into.
At this very moment, Ezra and I were having a duel.
"Try this!" Ezra exclaimed, swinging his lightsaber.
I quickly raised my weapon to block his attack and Force pushed the kid away from me, causing Ezra to fall backward.
"That would work on a gullible stormtrooper, but not me, I'm afraid." I said.
I heard Kanan chuckle as he walked over to us.
"That was a great duel, you two." Kanan said, extending a hand out to his fallen apprentice.
Ezra scoffed and took his master's hand.
"How could you tell?" Ezra asked once he was back on his feet.
"With my eyes, Ezra." Kanan said sarcastically, waving his hand in front of his face.
I couldn't help but laugh at Kanan's silliness.
He rarely ever acts like that. Before he became blind, he was just a cocky, stoic Jedi. Now, we rarely ever see that cockiness of his. It's nice to see it.
"The Force, Ezra." Kanan said.
Ezra groaned and placed a hand on his temple. I let out a loud chuckle at my Padawan's arrogance. Feeling familiar presences coming towards me, I turned around and smiled at my friends.
"Nerezza, Kayla, Diella. It's amazing to see you, girls, again." I said as the trio drew near.
"Likewise, Zelly. It has been quite a while since we've seen each other last." Diella said.
Kayla and Nerezza nodded in agreement.
"So, how's everything going with you, June?" Nerezza asked.
"Good, as a matter of fact. Just beat the kid in a duel." I said.
The three of them couldn't help but chuckle. Suddenly, a familiar blue light emitted from my chest. That light soon landed on the ground and shaped into Aralez.
A little warning next time would be nice...
"Hello, Kayla, Nerezza, and Diella." Aralez greeted.
"Whoa, who are you?" Diella asked.
"This is Aralez, the wolf side of me. She is a living entity of my enhanced power." I explained.
"Wow, that's amazing. I never knew that about her." Kayla said.
Aralez chuckled as she looked around at the four of us.
"Where are Sabine and Hera?" she asked.
"They're at the Ghost, I believe." Kanan answered, chiming in.
Aralez nodded and started making her way over to the Ghost. Shrugging my shoulders to the confused girls, we followed the wolf girl. As Kanan said, both Hera and Sabine were conversing in front of the Ghost.
"Hello, Hera. Hello Sabine." Aralez greeted.
The two of them looked up and smiled at Aralez.
"Ara, what a surprise." Sabine said.
"I didn't know you were here." Hera said.
"Yeah, she has a tendency to pop in whenever she pleases." I said walking up next to her.
Aralez rolled her eyes and shook her head with a fond smile. When Hera saw Nerezza, Kayla, and Diella, her face became slightly serious.
"I'm glad you guys are here. I've just received a mission from Commander Sato," Hera said.
"What kind of mission, Hera?" Kayla asked.
"A breakout mission on the planet Heirtis. Apparently, there are some prisoners who are being held for speaking out against the Empire, and Sato says that they can be invaluable to our cause."
"How so?" I asked.
"One of the prisoners is an ambassador of the Senate, another is an ace pilot, and another is the governor of Heirtis."
The others and I were taken back by surprise.
An ambassador of the Senate, an ace pilot, and a governor? Sato wasn't kidding. They will be invaluable to our cause...
"So, do you want me to get Kanan, Ezra, and Zeb?" Sabine asked.
"No. They weren't assigned for this mission. Just us." Hera said.
The others and I looked at one another in shock.
"Really?" Aralez asked.
Hera nodded, her seriousness never faltering.
"Well, what are we waiting for? Let's head to Heirtis!" Nerezza proclaimed.
"We'll take my ship, the Astradamus. Knowing Sato will assign a mission to the boys, they'll need a ship to use, and I don't trust anyone besides you guys with my ship." Kayla said.
The others and I nodded, and we all followed Kayla to her ship.
I can't believe this mission is just assigned to us.
Walking aboard the starship, the ramp closed behind us. The other women and I walked in the cockpit and watched as Kayla took the controls. The engines flared to life and I felt the ship leave the ground. Before we knew it, we were already in space. Once Kayla put in the coordinates, we blasted into hyperspace. Leaning back into the leather seat, I breathed out a heavy sigh.
It certainly has been a while since I've spent time with the other girls. I'm usually with Kanan and Ezra most of the time. The last time I've really spent time with Hera and/or Sabine was when we went Valentine shopping that one time. Of course, I've spent a lot of time with Diella and Kayla; even Nerezza. But never like this...
When I looked up, I saw a beige and brown planet.
"That's Heirtis all right." Hera said.
Entering the planet's atmosphere, I saw that it was a mesa and city-planet.
By the looks of things, it was completely under the rule of the Empire.
Once Kayla landed the Astradamus, we all walked out on the windy planet.
"Where are they keeping the prisoners?" Nerezza asked.
"Sato said they're keeping them in some kind of base or bunker. Prisoners kept there will be sentenced to death." Hera said.
"You're kidding?" Diella asked.
Regrettably, Hera shook her head no.
"This is certainly going to be difficult." Aralez said.
"We'll just have to be quick." Sabine said.
"Agreed." Kayla said.
"So, where is this base the Empire's keeping the prisoners?" I asked.
"On the outskirts of the city in front of us. Luckily, we're not that far away. A click to the Northeast." Hera said.
Nodding to our captain, the seven of us made our way towards the hidden base.
Since the base is hidden, it has become quite difficult to find it. And I know for a fact that we've walked more than a click...
"Zelara, Nerezza, Kayla, Aralez, do you think you can sense where the base is?" Hera asked.
"We can try." Nerezza said.
"The first rule of being a Jedi: do or do not. There is no try." Kayla said.
Rolling her eyes with a fond grin, Nerezza held out her hand, and the others and I copied her. After a while, the four of us detected the base.
"Found it. We're almost there. A fourth of a click to the east." I said.
"Good. Let's hurry." Hera said, walking ahead.
The rest of us didn't hesitate to follow the green twe'lik. Once we were there, we quickly hid behind a rock structure. The place was heavily guarded with stormtroopers.
"All right, how do we get in?" Sabine asked.
"Leave that to Ara and I." I said.
Looking to the wolf girl, she nodded with a bold grin on her face. We came out from behind the rock structure and walked up to the two stormtroopers. Once they saw us, they immediately readied their blasters.
"This is a restricted area. Leave, now." one of the stormtroopers said.
Nodding to one another, Aralez and I held out our hands and lifted the two stormtroopers. Once they were high enough, we dropped them. Once the stormtroopers hit the ground, they were motionless.
"Well, that was easy." Aralez said.
Nodding to my other half, I gestured my hand for the others to come out. Once they did, Sabine took the reins and hacked into the base's system, and was able to unlock the door.
"Come on." Hera said.
Walking inside, we followed Sabine to the nearest control pad.
"Where are the prisoners we're looking for?" Kayla asked.
"The ambassador is in isolation cell 0948, the pilot in isolation cell 0713, and the governor in isolation cell 0508." Sabine said.
"They're scattered." Nerezza commented.
"Figures. Imagine an ambassador of the Senate, an ace pilot, and a governor starting a riot in here." Aralez said.
"All right let's split up. Kayla and Diella, you guys free the ambassador. Nerezza and Sabine, you two free the pilot. Zelara, Aralez, and I will free the governor. Once you've freed them, head back to the Astradamus. Clear?" Hera asked.
"Kyber crystal, Hera." I said.
The others nodded in agreement.
"All right, good luck, everyone. Watch out for one another." Hera said.
With a final nod, we all went our separate ways. Aralez and I stayed close to Hera as we walked to the governor's cells. Once we turned down the corner, we immediately opened fire on the unsuspected stormtroopers.
"That was easy." I said, stepping over one of the motionless stormtroopers.
Once we got to the cell, we saw that it was heavily guarded. Cracking my knuckles, I held out my hand towards the stormtroopers.
"You two are needed in the city." I said.
"We are needed in city." one of the stormtroopers parroted.
"You better get moving." Aralez said, holding out her hand.
"We better get moving." the other stormtrooper said.
With that, the two stormtroopers left their post.
"Great job, you two." Hera complimented.
"Thanks, Hera." I said.
Once I waved my hand over the control pad, the cell door opened. Stepping inside, we saw the governor of Heirtis.
"Governor?" Hera asked.
Once the governor looked up, we saw that it was a female. Her amber eyes contrasted well her light skin and reddish-blonde hair.
She's beautiful. Hard to believe she's a governor.
"Who are you?" she asked.
"We're with Phoenix Squadron." Hera said.
"We're here to get you out of here." I said.
The governor smiled and stood up.
"I am Nevaeh Raywave. Thank you, I am forever grateful." she said.
"Come on. I can sense stormtroopers heading this way." Aralez said.
Thanks to Aralez's warning, the four of us were able to get out of the cell before reinforcements came along. Not long after, red lights started flashing throughout the hallways.
"Guys, we've got the governor! Where are you?" I asked into my wrist comm.
"Kayla, the ambassador, and I are heading for the exit now!" Diella said.
"Sabine and I are leaving with the pilot now!" Nerezza said.
"All right. See you soon."
Turning off my wrist comm, the four of us sprinted towards the exit. Hearing blaster fire behind us, Aralez and I turned around and activated our lightsabers.
"Hera, get the governor to the ship. We'll hold them off." Aralez said.
"I am not leaving two!" Hera said.
I raised my lightsaber before a blast could hit Neveah and Hera.
"Hera, go!" I cried.
"They are right. We must go." Neveah said.
Hera sighed and nodded. Once the two of them were gone, Aralez and I began blocking every blast that came our way.
"Now!" Aralez cried.
The two of us extend our hands and lifted the stormtroopers in the air. Once we released them, we turned tails and made our way to the exit. Once we were outside, we saw the others, along with the ambassador and pilot, as well as the other prisoners.
"Light it up, Sabine." Nerezza said.
Sabine nodded and pressed down on an activator. My head turned to the base when a loud boom went off.
Glad the other prisoners weren't in there.
"We did it." Kayla said.
"Even though the mission was just to save the ambassador, the pilot, and governor, I'm glad we saved the other prisoners out as well." Hera said.
"So, are you not going to introduce us to your new friends?" Aralez asked.
"Right. This is the ambassador of the Senate, Sha Tiwu." Diella said, looking at the Selonian.
The Selonian smiled and bowed her head. She was very tall and had sleek black fur.
I've only heard about Selonians. Never thought I'd actually meet one.
"And this is the ace pilot, Val Rosa." Sabine said.
The pilot walked up and bowed her head. She had brown hair and matching brown eyes with light skin.
"Thank you for freeing us." said one of the prisoners.
"Of course. We'd do it for anyone." Nerezza said, looking at the other freed prisoners.
"My people are filled with hope knowing that there are people like you trying to bring peace and order to the galaxy. I will keep in touch with you, Phoenix Squadron." Nevaeh said.
"Thank you, governor." Hera said.
"And I'd be more than happy to fly by your side, Captain Hera." Val said saluting.
"And I will do everything in my power to aid you rebels, and I am certain my home planet, Selonia, will be more than happy to help you win this war." Sha said.
"Thank you." I said.
Governor Neveah took the freed prisoners back to the city, whereas the others and I headed back to the Astradamus. Once we boarded the ship, Kayla ran into the cockpit and powered up the starship. Once the ramp closed, the Astradamus left the ground and blasted off into space.
"You rebels are certainly persistent. You all work very well together," Sha said.
"Thank you, ambassador. Someone from your home planet will come for you once we reach our destination, correct?" Aralez asked.
"That is correct."
I smiled as I walked into the cockpit with Kayla, watching the blue streaks fly past us.
"I'd say this mission was certainly a big success." I said.
"Oh, most definitely. We have really powerful allies now." Kayla said.
I nodded as I leaned against the back of her seat. Once we exited hyperspace, Atollon was in view. Kayla flew down and landed her ship next to the Ghost. Walking down to the ramp, I smiled as I stood next to these amazing women. Once the ramp opened, Kanan, Ezra, and Zeb were there to greet us.
"Welcome back, everyone." Ezra said.
"I take it the mission was a success?" Zeb asked.
"Definitely." Kayla said, walking down the ramp.
"Kanan Jarrus, Ezra Bridger, and Garazeb Orrelios, the ambassador of the Senate, Sha Tiwu, and the ace pilot, Val Rose." I said.
The two of them walked up and bowed their heads.
"It is an honor and pleasure to meet you three." Sha said.
"Likewise." Kanan said.
Then, a man's voice rang throughout the base from the PA.
"Message from Commander Sato." he said.
The others and I walked to the command center and stood around the hologram. Suddenly, Sato's image soon appeared.
"I have just received a call from Governor Raywave. She has agreed to join forces with the rebellion," Sato said.
"That's great news, sir." I said.
"Did you free the pilot and ambassador?"
"We are here Commander Sato. I will be more than happy to fly in your ranks, sir." Val said.
"And I will aid this rebellion with whatever I have. I am sure my home planet will do same." Sha said.
"Thank you, both of you. Well done, you seven. You have proved more than worthy of my gratitude and praise."
"Thank you, sir." Hera said.
With that, Sato's image faded away.
"Hey Z, wanna have a duel?" Ezra asked.
I chuckled and shook my head fondly.
"Fine, but don't start complaining when I beat you." I said.
"Not going to happen." Ezra said.
We'll see about that...
The two of us ran out of the command center with our lightsabers activated.
"Are they always like that?" Val asked.
"Most of the time." Kanan commented.
During our duel, I couldn't wipe the stupid grin that adored my features.
I'm glad to have gone on that mission with the other women. I feel closer to them. Not just as friends, but as a family... And I'm kind of glad Ezra, Kanan, and Zeb weren't assigned to this mission. You never send a man to do a rebel woman's job.
Sorry, my dad's in the hospital again. All I ask is that you please pray for him.
Nevertheless, I hope you guys enjoyed this part. This part is dedicated to all my strong, independent, and amazing female readers. Men fight great, but women are great fighters.
