My name is Akira Haunting and i'm thirteen years old. My eyes are a dark amber with a red tint. My hair is dark brown and I always put it up in a pony tail but I leave my bangs down. The ends of my hair is a dark red and all of my bangs are dark red too. I am what you would call a shifter. Shifters can shift into one thing like a demon or some kind of animal real or not and so on. We have our 'human' shift which we use usually during the day when all the humans are out. We can also have a half-shift which is where we are half human and half whatever you can shift into. Then we have our full shift. But for some reason I have to be the special one and I can shift into many creatures but I mainly shift into a silver fox.

"Akira, are you ready yet? We need to go!" My mother yelled at me from down stairs.
I decided to ignore her cause this gathering thing wasn't very important to me. I'm finally old enough to go to this but I've been dreading this moment I'd rather stay here and go run around with my friend. As I'm sitting here texting my friend Alno I hear footsteps coming up the stairs. I quickly shift into my half shift as my mother opens the door.
"What are you doing" my mom glares at me and waits for my answer. I look at her and mumble a smart comment before I get up and quickly walk past her. We live out in the country with lots of woods and we have our own farm animals and gardens so we look like a normal family to anyone that drives by on the road. But tonight we go through the woods to the gathering. Mother said that everyone is required to be in a half shift and everyone is separated into different groups. I'll be put into the 'new shifters' group. Once we get there my mom points to where I'm supposed to go and I sit on a big rock that's the farthest away from the Great Trees that the three leaders sit on. The Great Trees are twisted together to make perfect spots to sit on and look down at everyone. I observe everything from this rock I'm sitting on as more shifters come.
"Hello" A male voice says behind me and I jump since I was so caught up with looking at everything else. I turn around and see a guy about fifteen. I see one of his eyes is black so he must be a demon shifter. He's about half a foot taller than me and his other eye is a dark brown. His hair is also a dark brown and it comes down to about his shoulders, just a bit shorter. He's wearing black jeans and a black long sleeve shirt.
"I'm Xic" he looks at me and waits for my response but I can't seem to find my words. "You don't talk much do you" Xic sits next to me, still looking at me and I look away. We sit in silence as the last of the shifters come. My friend alno wasn't able to come today since his family had something going on.
"Alright, since mostly everyone's here the gathering will begin" the leader sitting in the middle is always the one to start the gathering and the first to talk. His name is Kurama and he has two sons which sit on either side of him and their names are Basil and Yuma. Once everyone settled down Kurama started speaking again. "Now there is one special shifter here today her name is Akira Haunting. Akira, could you come up here on the little part of the Great Trees" I looked at him for a moment not sure what to do then I felt Xic nudge me. I looked at him and he smiled. I quickly walked up to where I was supposed to go and he told everyone about how great I am and that there hasn't been a multi shifter in three decades. I could care less though, I really hate the attention and I just want to be left alone. Finally after what felt like forever Kurama let me go back to where I sat. I saw Xic was still there and I sat on the other side of the rock hoping he wouldn't talk to me. I started thinking and got lost in my thoughts.
"Hey, are you ok?" I felt someone poking me. I came out of my thoughts and jumped and looked up to see Xic looking down at me. "The gathering is over but we have some time to talk before everyone starts leaving". He says with hopeful eyes. Great now he's probably gonna ask how it is to be 'so great and amazing'. I wish he'd just go away. "So Akira is it?" he asks. I look at him and nod. He just sits beside me like I'm another normal shifter. "Would you like to hang out sometime. Maybe go through the woods? I've got a place in the woods I hang out at a lot I could show you where it is if you want." He looks at me and I sense he's confident to get me to go. I nod slightly then hear my name being called. I get up but I feel his hand grab my wrist and I look at him. "Can we meet at twelve, in the woods behind your house?" he asks and his grip on my wrist gets a bit tighter. I nod and he lets go and I quickly walk to my parents and then I glance back to where he was but there was no trace of him.
"Who was that?" My mom looks at me sternly. "Oh.. Um it was no one" I walk ahead of them and fully shift into my silver fox. I get home run upstairs and lock myself in my room thinking about Xic. What does he want? He's a demon shifter and I'm an animal shifter. My parents would never accept me even talking to him. Oh well I guess they just won't know anything about him.

I open my window and shift into a cat so I can easily climb down from the second floor without hurting myself on the way down. I decide to stay in my cat shift so I can easily sneak into the woods without my parents noticing. I looked around for Xic but I didn't see him so I layed down in a little space between a few trees and a rock. I stayed there for a few minutes till I heard something and I perked my ears up to listen. I heard nothing so maybe it was just a mouse scurrying by. Next thing I know there are hands around me and holding me up in the air. I wiggle around and hiss to try to get out of the persons hands.
"Hey, calm down it's just me" I hear Xic's voice and turn around to look at him. I shift back to my half shift. "Sorry about that, just instincts." I think for a second. "And how did you sneak up on me like that? No one has ever snuck up on me without being caught" I look at him and tilt my head in curiosity. "Well I am a demon shifter so I can teleport and be quiter than a mouse" He smiles at me. "Follow me" He starts walking and I hesitate but walk slightly behind him. After walking for about twenty minutes I see something similar to a tree house. He teleports into it and before I can shift into a cat I get teleported into the tree house. I look at him and he takes a few steps closer to me where I can feel his body warmth. I look up at him and the next thing I knew I felt his lips on mine.
