Alex's Real Secret
(George's POV)
I couldn't sleep anymore, especially since I just had a sweet dream about Alex. Her bright smile appearing on her face as the snow fell as I gave her the gift. Our foreheads touching as we let out small laughs as she thanks me for the present. All this just to wake up to a loud snore.
Only, it's April and I felt horrible about not giving Alex her christmas present when I should have. Alex, Fred, and I went on adventures frequently, which made me forget to giver her the present. We had to stop our adventures once because Sirius was in the castle. And with all the examines taking place and handfuls of essays, I honestly forgot to give it to her every time and Fred didn't remind me. I sighed to myself, holding the box in my hand. I looked out the window, staring into the night. She should have been sleeping, but I knew she wasn't. She was off with Lupin in the dark, cold night.
I looked down at the present again.
She might not even like it. It's not a present for a girl at all.
I opened the small box in my hand and questioned if it was a good gift to give Alex. Then, I realized it was too late, what else could I possibly give her at this hour. It wouldn't be long before sunrise. But... why do I want to give it to her at this hour? I sighed, noting that I really wanted Alex to have her gift. It had to be right now. I looked at Fred and made sure he was asleep. He wasn't going to wake up any time soon. I grabbed my wand and walked to Harry's bed.
"Sorry to be bothering you."
Harry lifted his head. "George?" He yawned. "What time is it?"
I let out a quiet laugh. "Listen Harry, I need the map I gave you earlier in the year."
"Okay." Harry pulled the map out of the drawer beside his bed. "Here."
"Thank you. I'll give it back." I grinned and took the map. I made my way to the broom cupboard where I saw Alex with the giant black dog earlier that year. I opened the map and looked for Alex's location. My brows crashed together as I saw her footsteps at the Shrieking Shack, but she had to be there for a reason.
I walked through several halls leading out of the castle to Hogsmeade. I took a deep breath before opening the door. It creaked and Alex immidiately came into my view. My eyes widened. She was holding a blond-furred blanket around her body.
Her eyes widened. "What are you doing here," she whispered.
"I uh..." I smiled sheepishly. "I wanted to give you something."
Alex sucked in some air. "Right now!?"
There was a loud bang up stairs followed by a howl.
I locked gazes with Alex. "What's going on?"
Alex's eyes shifted. "It's probably not even close to what you're thinking."
I raised a brow. "Then what is it?"
We a loud sound like wood breaking. Alex and I looked at each other, gasping. She quickly ran down the hall and down the left door. I followed after her a moment too late. The room was empy and my eyes fell upon a dark opening. I ran in hearing echoes and ran down the damp, cool tunnel. I found myself at the whomping willow face to face with a lanky, bony creature. The tall creature turned to me. When I saw its snout, I realized that I was now facing a werewolf.
My eyes widened as it growled at me. It began running toward me, but then a blond wolf threw itself onto the werewolf, biting its neck and rolling them both away. The wolf quickly go onto its feet and growled at the werewolf.
Sucking in air, I remembered Alex's secret about taming Lupin. This must have been him. I looked around for Alex, hoping she was still alive somewhere. However, as I looked around the wolves got closer to me. I slowly moved into the entrance under the whomping willow. The wolves inched closer as I moved back. I saw the twilight to my right before actually getting into the whomping willow. Eventually, I was back at the shrieking shack, with the wolves still fighting each other in the tunnels. I took a deep breath, closed my eyes, and slid my back down the wall behind me. I heard several howls and whimpers and suddenly it stopped.
I opened my eyes and ran into the tunnel. My eyes widned to a nude, gasping Lupin and the blond wolf.
Lupin struggled to point past me. "The closet, bring me a coat!"
I quickly nodded and ran down the hall. I snatched the long over coat from the hanger and ran back to Lupin. I handed Lupin the coat and he exhaustedly put it on.
"Thank you." He breathed heavily.
I nodded, not knowing what to say. I looked at the blond wolf's blue eyes. I noticed its fur was scratched but it was more like a layer of the fur was scratched. The seemed to be looking at me. Examining its eyes, it reminded me of Alex's face. Slowly, I start to see her smile appear on the wolf's face. The fur goes away, revealing hairless human hands. The snout turned into a nose. Alex now stood in front of me, pursing her lips and adjust the ripped blanket around her body.
I stood with wide eyes. "Uh..." I let out a small laugh. "I never knew the eyes of a wolf could be so beautiful."
Alex blushed and looked away.
Lupin patted my shoulder. "Why thank you, my boy."
I paused. I didn't mean Lupin at all. I let out a small, nervous laugh.
"Let's go," Alex headed out to the closet and grabs her bag. "I won't be long. I just have to change."
I smiled, stepping into the hall. "Alex."
She paused, locking gazes with me. "Yes?"
"I have something for you." I grinned. "But please get dressed first."
Lupin walked into the small area and sat on the rocking chair. He gave me a grave stare down as Alex closed the door to the room. He gaze pierced into me as the air was filled with nothing but clock ticks. He took a deep breath. "So how close are you to Alex?"
I sucked in some air. "Pretty close, I'd say."
Lupin gave a slow nod. "And she told you about me?"
I raised a brow, pretending Alex never told us. "What do you mean?"
Lupin blinked. "Never mind. It's a different matter entirely." He took a deep breath and rocked in the chair.
Alex burst into the room. She smiled at me. "So you wanted something."
I grinned. "Not right now?"
Alex raised a brow. "Alright." She turned to Lupin. "Will you be fine?"
He nodded.
Alex smiled and opened the door. "Come on, George."
I paused, remembering I'm supposed to pretend I shouldn't know what's going on. "What about him?"
Alex grinned. "He'll be fine. Come on."
I shrugged and ran after Alex. Alex looked back several times as we walked to Hogsmeade. As soon as we were far enough from the shack she nudged my arm. "You're not telling anyone right?"
"About what?" I grinned.
She smiled. "Good."
I let out a small laugh. "You looked very cute though."
Alex stopped, blushing.
I smiled and stepped in front of her. "Alex. I would like to give you something special." I pulled out the small box from my pocket and handed it to her. "Suprise Christmas present." I grinned.
She grinned, letting out a small laugh. "It's not Christmas."
I winced. "I... forgot to give it to you on Christmas... Or anywhere near that time."
She opened the box and grinned. "It's beautiful." She pulled out the necklace with a fire turtle pendant.
I smiled. "Hold your hair."
She blinked, but did as told. I the necklace on her. "Does it fit?"
She nodded. "Perfect."
"Beautiful."
She paused and I locked gazes with her. I smiled. "You really are, Blue. That's why Fred and I gave you that nick name. Your beautiful blues eyes stand out the most."
She smiled. "You have gorgeous blue eyes."
"It's just looks. Yours are something more." My forehead touched hers.
I closed my eyes tightly and pulled away slowly. "Sorry. I should've remembered you get embarassed like that."
Her eyes suddenly widened and she looked down. "Right."
There was a long moment of silence.
She took a small breath and let out a laugh. "It's kind of funny that Fred gave me his gift in December."
My brows crashed. Just you wait, Freddie. Just you wait...
