The Water Trial
I picked the small bottle and looked in it. Inside was a small note. I opened the top and took out the note.
"The Aquarian Ocean is big
This is true
But by using your knowledge
You will push through
To find the Shannon Pearl Gem
Dive into the abyss
And meet a friend who will be happy to assist."
"Looks like we need to head to the Aquarian Ocean, it seems," I said.
"Yeah, but what is it about that last part, though? Dive into the abyss? And meet a friend who will be happy to assist? What does that even mean?" Spencer asked.
"Don't know, but we're not going to find out anything if we just stand around here. Let's go."
"Right!"
I put the note back in the bottle, and put the bottle on my belt. The two of us ran out the door and ran to the Aquarian Ocean shore. We made it to the ocean shore and the silver moon reflected off the water.
"Know any water breathing spells, sis?" Spencer asked.
"You bet I do, but only if you know a night vision spell." I retorted.
"Sure thing."
I placed my hands on my throat and Spencer's.
"Aqua Breathio!" I said.
A small blue light emitted from my hands and went in our throats.
"Perfect. Now, night vision." I said.
"You got it." Spencer said.
Spencer took out his wand and recited the spell.
"Lunar Sight!" he said.
A faint silver emitted from Spencer's wand, and he pointed it at me. The light flashed in my eyes, and then it dimmed down. When I opened my eyes, everything around me became clear to me. Spencer did the same to his eyes.
"Let's go." Spencer said.
"Right." I said.
Spencer and I ran in the water and then dove down. Everything around us was so beautiful, things that you can only see at night.
It was like a whole new world...
The fish were glowing, the coral was sparkling, it was like new life down here.
"Okay, we're here... place bring back any memories?" Spencer asked.
"Sadly, no. It's not like I don't want to remember, I really do want to remember what I was and who I am," I said.
"So, what do we do now?"
"The note said that we need to go to the abyss, whatever that means."
"Hm... the note also said that our knowledge will be tested. Maybe there's a clue to that abyss part?"
"You're right, Spence, but what could it mean?"
We stopped swimming and started thinking. Then, the answer hit me.
"I got it! In the ocean, an abyss is just a fancy word for trench... the Abyss Trench! The deepest trench in the Aquarian Ocean. That's where the Shannon Pearl Gem is," I said.
"Now that's using you're knowledge. Do you know where it is?" Spencer asked.
"Uh..."
Spencer slapped his forehead.
"Wait a minute... what was the last part of the note, Courtney?" Spencer asked.
"Uh... meet a friend who will be happy to assist. Why do you ask?" I asked.
"Maybe, when you were Allegra, you made a friend here?"
"And that friend can probably help us get down into the Abyss Trench. Good thinking, little brother."
Spencer smiled. We continued to swim deeper until we were at the ocean floor. We looked around the lit up ocean as we walked. Then, Spencer tripped over something.
"You okay, Spence?" I asked.
"Yeah." he said.
I reached out my hand to him and he grabbed it.
"What did you even trip on?" I asked.
"That rock." Spencer said, pointing behind him.
I looked behind him, and looked back at him with a smug look.
"Sure you did. You're just trying to ignore the fact that you're clumsy and you tripped over your own feet." I said.
"What?" Spencer asked, turning around.
There was absolutely nothing behind him.
"I swear to you, I tripped over a rock." he said.
"And what happened? It got up and swam away?" I asked.
Then, Spencer's body went pale, as if he seen a ghost. I looked at him with a confused look. I then noticed that he was looking at something behind me. I looked up, and my heart dropped. In front of us was a sea serpent. It was blue and silver with green eyes, orange fins, and silver horns. I stepped in front of Spencer to protect him. The sea serpent swam around us a couple of times until it was face to face with me. Then, it licked my cheek with its purple forked tongue. I gave a small smile and placed my hand on its snout. It began to pur at the touch. Then, I had an insane flashback.
"Minerva?" I asked.
The sea serpent nodded its head. I looked back at Spencer with a big smile on my face. He returned the same expression.
"I remember you... Minerva..." I said.
"Maybe she's the friend that we're supposed to be looking for?" Spencer suggested.
"You're right. Hey Minerva, think you can take us to the bottom of Abyss Trench?"
Minerva nodded. I got on her back and then helped Spencer up. Then, she swam towards the trench at full speed. When the Abyss Trench came to view, Minerva dove down.
"Do you know where the Shannon Pearl Gem is, girl?" I asked.
Minerva nodded and swam towards a cluster of boulders.
It looks like they're blocking something.
"Looks like we need to break through the boulders." Spencer said.
"Leave that to me." I said.
I hopped off Minerva and swam up to the boulders.
"Expulso!" I said.
A red flare was released from my hand and it hit the boulders with a giant bang. Minerva quickly shielded us from the falling pieces from the boulders. When I looked ahead, there was a tunnel with a bright light at the end of it. The three of us swam inside and saw the Shannon Pearl Gem, resting on a stone pedestal. I looked at Spencer and Minerva and they nodded. I nodded back and turned my attention back on the pearl gem. I took a deep breath and picked up the Shannon Pearl Gem. It was a blush pink and white color. It looked like a pearl, but it felt like a gem. I turned back to the others and smiled. They smiled back. We swam out of the tunnel and waiting outside was a lady with long, blue hair and green eyes. Her skin was light blue and scaly, and had pale blue fins around her neck. Her chest was covered by what looked like to be armor. Her hands and feet had webbing between them.
Is this Clara?
She swam up to my and touched my cheek.
"Allegra... is it really you...?" she asked.
As much as I wanted to correct her, I just didn't have the heart to.
"Yeah, it's me, Clara." I said.
A single tear rolled down her cheek.
"Oh Allegra! I missed you so much, little sister..." she said, hugging me.
"You too." I said.
When we parted, I showed her the Shannon Pearl Gem.
Ah... I see you're taking the Wizard Trials," Clara said.
"How'd you know?" I asked.
"Rokai told us to be expecting our little sister's return, and that she was taking the Wizard Trials to prove him wrong."
"Yeah... about that."
I soon told Clara everything. Clara frowned and nodded.
"But don't worry. I remembered Minerva, and that's a good sign. If I meet the others, maybe my memories of you guys will return," I said.
"And I'll be there to help you every step of the way... Courtney," Clara said.
"Well, it's time for Spence and I to meet Jedediah at Ashburn Volcano. It was nice meeting you again Clara."
"You too."
She gave me one final goodbye hug and let me go. I handed over the Shannon Pearl Gem, but Clara pushed it back to me.
"Keep it. You may need it in future's time." she said.
I looked at it and nodded firmly at her. I tossed it up and snapped. In the next minute, it disappeared.
"Before you go, I found this one my way here." Clara said, holding up a small bottle.
It looked just like the blue bottle I have, but it was red.
Guess this is the next clue...
"Blast! This isn't good! Even a little spark can start a fire."
"What do we do, sister?"
"Timing is everything, sisters... when she's on her last trial... we'll be rid of her good..."
