The Light Trial
I opened the bottle, and as you could imagine, there was another note inside.
"In Dazzle Cave, the
Stones are like stars
By testing your determination
You will get very far
The Sun Star Diamond
Is somewhere all alone
Head to the back of the cave
To find it resting in stone."
"Looks like we're going to see Stella." Spencer said.
"Guess so. Well Farcilia, it was a pleasure seeing you," I said.
"Likewise. Good luck on your last three trials, Courtney." she said.
"Thanks Farcilia, but call me Allegra. We're family, aren't we?"
Farcilia smiled and nodded. I turned to Jet ran my fingers through his black fur.
"Think you can fly us to Dazzle Cave, big guy?" I asked.
Jet nodded eagerly. Spencer and I hopped on and I turned back to Farcilia.
"Head east from here and you'll be in Radiant Grove. Then head west and you'll be at Dazzle Cave." Farcilia said.
"Alright, thanks Farcilia. Oh, Yukiya said hi." I said.
She smiled brightly and nodded.
"Radiant Grove, Jet!" I said.
Jet leaped off the edge and flew ahead.
"Do you have an answer for Rokai yet, sis?" Spencer asked.
"Still working on it..." I said, looking back at him.
Spencer nodded and looked at the world below us.
So far this Spring Break has been really fun so far. I'm meeting up with family that I somehow forgot I had... wonder what happened with my memories about them?
When we arrived at Radiant Grove, the sun was beginning to set, painting the sky with different shades of purple, yellow, red, orange, and pink. Jet landed and the two of us hopped off. I looked behind me and saw the entrance of Dazzle Cave. I turned back to Jet placed my head on his.
"Thanks for the ride, Jet." I said.
Jet nuzzled against my head and backed away. Spencer and I waved goodbye as Jet flew away. Spencer and I turned our attention back to the cave and saw bright, colorful lights emitting from inside. We walked inside and saw the most beautiful crystals ever. They came in millions of colors, shapes, and sizes. I looked at a crystal and saw that my reflection was all deformed. I chuckled and continued in the cave.
"Okay... where's this Sun Star Diamond?" Spencer asked.
"The note said that it's in the back of the cave, but the question is... how do we GET to the back of the cave?" I asked.
"Well, if our determination is being tested, we have to be determined with the choices we make."
"You should've been the one to take these trials instead of me."
Spencer laughed and his laugh echoed throughout the cave. Then, I had an idea. I raised my hand over my head and thought of what I wanted to become. Then, I recited a transformation spell.
"Transformo!" I said.
Black particles rained down and then spun around me like a whirlwind. I felt myself shrinking and my arms turning into wings. When the particles disappeared, I was a green Larkbat.
"Whoa! I didn't know you knew that kind of spell, Courtney." Spencer said.
I nodded.
"But what was the point in turning into a Larkbat?" Spencer asked.
I turned to the ongoing cave and screeched. It echoed for a while until it died down.
"Oh... I get it. Echolocation." Spencer said.
I nodded eagerly.
"Great thinking. With that, we'll find that Sun Star Diamon in no time." Spencer said.
I smiled and flew ahead, with Spencer close behind. When we went down the tunnel, the path split in two.
"Which way, Courtney?" Spencer asked.
I looked at the path on the left and screeched. It then bounced back at me. I looked back at Spencer and pointed down the path to the right. He nodded and hurried after me as I flew down the right path. Through the tunnel we went, and beautiful gems were illuminating the tunnel. On the other side were three more paths.
"Which way now?" Spencer asked.
I turned to the right path and screeched. After a while, the echo bounced back. I then turned to the middle path and screeched. Almost immediately, it bounced back. I looked back at Spencer and pointed to the left path. He nodded and followed me through the tunnel. On the other side of the tunnel, the path split into four paths.
"Great... now what?" Spencer asked.
I looked to the first path on the left and screeched. It echoed bounced almost immediately. I looked to the path next to it and screeched. Immediately it bounced back. I turned to the third path and screeched. The echo kept going. I looked at Spencer and pointed down the third path. He nodded and followed. The sparkly gems were like stars, dancing and twinkling on the walls. Then, we finally reached the back of the cave. Crystals standing as tall as me were all around us, as well as small gems and crystals stuck in stone. I concentrated on my power, and soon turned back into myself. Spencer and I looked at the gems and crystals as if we were touring a museum.
"The note said that the Sun Star Diamond was resting in stone." I said.
"So we need to start looking on the walls and ceilings." Spencer said.
We looked to the sides of us and even above us, but the Sun Star Diamon was nowhere to be found.
"Ugh...! This is too hard! What else did it say on that note? Any clue on where it could be?" Spencer asked with an annoyed tone.
"If I remember correctly, it said that the Sun Star Diamond was all alone," I said.
"So you're saying that this isn't even the back of the cave?"
"It is, but in every book I read, there's always a secret tunnel that leads to treasure."
Spencer rubbed his temple and chuckled.
"You read WAY too many mystery novels," Spencer joked.
"If there is a secret tunnel, which there is, you have to admit that I am a better wizard than you." I said.
"Deal."
We shook hands and nodded.
NEVER make a bet with me, because you will surely lose in the long run.
We split up and started looking for a secret tunnel, or at least something that will lead to it. I ran my fingers across the gems and crystals along the wall, putting a little pressure on them, seeing if one of them with trigger something. Then, when my hand pressed against a pink crystal, I heard a click. I stepped back and watched the wall push back and slide to the side. I looked back at Spencer with a triumphant smile. He returned a playful glare.
"Remind me again, dear brother. Who is the better wizard?" I asked.
"Fine, you win. You are a better wizard than me." Spencer said.
"And don't you ever forget it."
I ruffled his hair, and got a playful punch on my arm in return. We turned our attention to the newly opened path and saw a bright light. We walked up to it and saw a gem stuck in stone. It was yellow and it was shaped like a star.
"If that's not the Sun Star Diamond, I don't know what is." Spencer said.
"I agree." I replied.
I walked up to it and touched it. Powerful light magic crashed over me like a mighty wave. Then, the diamond started to glow brightly. I stepped back and watch the rock and stone around it starting to break. When the dust settled, the Sun Star Diamond was free for the taking. I walked up to it and pulled it out. It was bigger than my hand. I turned to Spencer and smiled. He smiled back. I tossed up the Sun Star Diamond and snapped it away.
"WOW! Awesome job, Allegra!" cried a cheerful voice behind us.
We turned around and saw and girl with light skin, blonde hair, and was wearing a short, yellow dress.
This must be Stella.
"You're Stella, right?" I asked.
"You remembered me!" she said.
She ran up to me and hugged me. I smiled and hugged her back. When we parted, she still had the same smile on her face.
"I'm so happy to see you again, Allegra!" Stella said.
"I am too, but there's something I need to tell you first..." I said.
I soon explained everything to her. My heart ached when I saw her smile fade away.
"But I'm remembering everything, little by little," I said.
"And when Courtney's on her last trial, maybe, hopefully, her memories will return." Spencer said.
"What he said."
"Well you have nothing to worry about. You're doing amazing so far. You only have two trials left, and I'll see you guys at the end." Stella said.
"Thanks Stella."
She smiled brightly and nodded.
"By the way, on my way here, I found this." Stella said, holding up a small bottle.
It was like the others, but black.
This is my second to last Wizard Trial... I have to make this...
"I'm growing tired of waiting, sister. This plan of yours has gotten us nowhere!"
"I agree. This is the Dark Trial, our specialty. We should make it harder than it already is."
"Now that I can allow. During this next trial, you two can summon... the Noxhound..."
