For Fucks Sake!
Geralt returned after his two days were up in the in, and he was grateful that she was sleeping away still. He returned with her horse and the sword she lost while fighting the creatures so she would have them when she woke up. The mage said she was going to be just fine and that Jaskier made the right call to burn her wound; otherwise, she would have died on the way to the mage.
Geralt was going to stay until the woman in green woke up, but she looked like a troublemaker even when sleeping. She didn't look like an angel or an innocent child but a girl that didn't have a sweet bone in her body. Who was he to presume that she had it rough? He made sure he found her sword and gave it back to her and a knife she had with her. Her horse was a white horse with grey spots, and she seemed annoyed with him. It took him forever to get the stubborn horse to move. She went as far as sitting on the ground to stop him from taking her to her master. Finally, he bribed the horse with a carrot; all the men there did say the woman in green liked her ale; maybe the horse did as well. Geralt was going to try ale next if she didn't move. Geralt had no idea how she even rode that stubborn horse. But it must be like her, very persistent and bullheaded, never taking bribes unless it was essential.
Geralt left to go to another town to see if there was a job to do. No witcher died of natural causes, and they always died by a monster's hand or by people killing them, so Geralt might as well keep going until he dies. Jaskier almost got left behind since he overslept but managed to catch up to the witcher's disapproval. Geralt left hours after the young mage decided he needed to go to bed to rest for a bit; however, the girl in green woke up.
The woman in green got out of bed and noticed that someone had healed her wounds; she decided to get up and leave in hopes she could maybe collect her bounty still, but since she was here, someone had found her and probably already collected it. Better than being those creatures' lunch. Hopefully, the person that saved her was still going to be in the village she came from. Stella got dressed and headed outside to see where she was. Stella paused as she saw footprints near the door and her horse. The man that helped her was large but kind since her horse was there and her sword was where it should be. Then Stella noticed a long white hair on Agata's bridal, and she smiled, knowing how stubborn her horse was with men.
"So a man brought you here; I hope he realized that you come running if I have an ale. I never met a horse as stubborn as you or as strange, but that is why we get along so well," she smiled.
Maybe whoever healed her knew who saved her life. She went back into the mage's house and knocked on the doors until the mage woke up tired.
"Oh, your awake that's amazing! I didn't think you would be awake for another day or so," he explained.
"Do you know who saved my life?" She asked as the Mage gulped a bit.
"A witcher did; he had yellow eyes and white hair," he informed.
"Know which way he went?" She asked.
"He didn't say, but he left maybe two-three hours ago," he said.
"Okay, besides the one an hour north from here, is there another town nearby?" She asked.
"There is; it's a week away from here. Just keep going north; you will find it. Any reason why you want to go after a witcher? I heard he killed over ten Bukavac; he gave me the horns to pay for your treatment," he explained.
"Well, I owe him my life now, so I have to repay him even if he doesn't want it," Stella said, then sighed weakly, knowing she was going to have to follow his tracks which she was good at.
Maybe too good, but either way, Stella was a person that followed the rules, so to speak, plus it was odd that destiny sent her a witcher of all people. Witchers were very few in numbers, but Stella ran into two already while traveling and now the third one. It to weird to be a coincidence, and this one was kind enough to give her back her weapons. Maybe this one will take her along without trying to sleep with her. The other two Stella put in place relatively quickly, but men were men. Stella left and decided to stop by her witch friend for new positions and healing herbs since those got mostly ruined when she was tossed into the cave like a rag doll.
One week later.
Geralt had made it to the town with Jaskier by his side somehow. They decided to call a day for a while. Jaskier was complaining, driving mad, which made them stop. He needed to get laid or something to drown out Jaskier's annoying nature. Maybe some ale; if he left the girl sooner, he would have left Jaskier behind. He knew that girl would be okay, but for once in his life, he felt terrible for leaving her behind. Geralt wasn't sure why because he didn't care about her. Maybe because he knew she was trouble, Geralt might have to kill her later on as he did with most of the people he met.
"You are not welcome here, witcher!" A man yelled.
"Get out of here, you fucking witcher!" A man yelled.
"I would be nice to him if you want your problem to go away!" A girl's voice rang out in a sing-song voice behind him.
He turned around and saw no one, but he knew someone was there. The men calmed down a bit and sighed. They didn't like taking orders from a woman, especially a woman who knew what she was talking about.
"Women! Always trying to create problems! We are the men here, and we deal with our fucking problems!" A man screamed angrily.
"This place is lovely," Jaskier pointed out as the people here were as friendly as a den of snakes.
"A woman said there is a problem here; there might be a job here if we ask the right person about it," he stated.
"You want to help a town that hates you?" Jaskier asked.
"Only the people that want my help. Sometimes people have to be scared enough to enlist the help of another monster to get rid of the problems they have," he stated as they went to the Inn.
The innkeeper gave him a death stare as he entered, and everyone drinking ale also gave him disgusted looks. Not many people liked his kind, but it seemed one person did.
"Your room has already been paid for you, a witcher. We don't need your help here, so leave tomorrow; otherwise, you will end up dead," the innkeeper hissed.
"Who paid for my room?" Geralt asked.
"I don't fucking know, and if I did, I wouldn't be telling no witcher. We already have problems with women getting their noses into things they don't belong to. Now we got a witcher here too; it seems where ever there are whores there are witchers," he spat.
Geralt was used to this type of talk because witchers didn't have feelings, or so the rumor was. But it was easier to be treated like a monster than a human being sometimes. You slay demons, maybe sleep with some women, get paid, and then leave. Simple enough to do, but sometimes that lifestyle made people lonely, it was a common problem amongst the witchers, but no one spoke of it.
The innkeeper told Geralt where his room was, and it was big enough for two people. Jaskier didn't want to be alone in the pub, but he was going to try to make money here while Geralt was in his room. He was about to start singing when someone covered his mouth.
"I wouldn't do that if I were you, these men gutted a person who sang badly, and one of your people insulted another, and he was burned alive. These people are scared out of their mind also, don't drink the ale; it will make you shit for days," a woman's voice said quietly.
He nodded as she let him go, and he turned to see a woman dressed in men's clothing. Stella smiled a bit as Jaskier couldn't believe his very own eyes. She could pass as a man looking so dirty and clothes looking like she had been working all day.
"Do I know you?" He asked.
"Depending on if you know the witcher," she smiled.
"I'm a friend of his," he stated as they sat down at a nearby table.
"Good, I'm glad he has at least one witchers don't make friends easily, but I'm sure you figured it out already. I'm the girl he saved a week ago. Anyway, so far, these people haven't given me access to what is hunting them down. I took a shortcut getting here and have been looking into the people's death, but it's strange. It seems like three other villages are affected by the same thing almost. There is an abandoned building here in the woods, it's a castle, but it might be the source of this," she said as Jaskier looked at her oddly.
"Why are you telling me and not killing whatever is? What is going on here anyway?" He asked.
"I am a woman, and they won't let me help them. I know the witcher will locate it or them, and when he finds the creature or creatures, he will determine if they are harmless. I don't know if they are innocent and the villagers are using them or it to kill off people they don't like. I haven't seen anything, but people are missing, mostly the new folks that come into this place. I have been to the other two towns a day away from each other, and the same thing is happening. I am a lot stronger than I look, but I can't find the creature. It's like it doesn't exist, but I know it does. To me, it's strange the witcher hasn't picked up on it. But there are a few creatures they can't pick up right away...." she said softly.
"There is?! Dear fucking lord, what did we get ourselves into this time?! Also, I saved your life too; if you want to pay me back, we can get a room..." he paused as she pulled out a knife and stabbed it into the table.
"If you flirt with me again, I will ensure you will never have children. I cut off a man's balls for less," she hissed.
"Duly noted, if there is wine here, that will be just as good," he chuckled nervously.
"Good, also do me a favor and tell your witcher friend what I told you but don't tell him about him not being able to find the creature or creatures or that I am here. I want it to be a surprise; men always think women are so helpless, but as I said, I'm a lot tougher than I look. But my looks always get in the way of my capabilities. Now, if you excuse me, I'm going to be digging up more graves," she informed as she took her knife and left.
Without even hesitating, he went up to the room that Geralt was staying in and knocked on the door. Geralt opened the door. Jaskier smiled but looked horrified.
"I may have overheard something essential. But it is dangerous, and two other towns nearby are letting people die to it isn't just this one," Jaskier said.
"Weird, all of these guys died of natural causes. I have been digging for days for nothing!" She muttered as she dropped the body back into the hole and started to bury it.
"How far is the mansion from here?" Geralt asked as she paused.
"I don't know; wait, how the fuck should I know?! I have been outcasted because I'm with you!" Jaskier informed.
They went up the hill, and Stella saw them walking to the mansion in the middle of the woods. Stella put her shovel down, and she took off the men's clothes, revealing her red top and black pants. She had already inspected the mansion, but that place was a maze, and she left before dark after finding nothing. Maybe they could find something there that she missed. It would be nice to fight next to a witcher and to annoy one too. Sure they were strong and mean sometimes, but Stella met two of them before this, and she found out they were kinder than they let on.
"Stay here," Geralt said as Jaskier sighed.
"Why do I always have to stay here?!" He asked.
"Because you can't fight, you may also annoy the creatures enough to get them to attack," he said as Jaskier sighed and sat on the ground, annoyed.
He started to sing softly as he saw a woman climb out of the wall as he was messing around with song lyrics. He paused and cringed as she disappeared back into the wall.
"For fuck sake!" He muttered as Stella came riding in on Agata.
"Where is the witcher?!" She asked as she jumped off.
"In the mansion, I'm pretty sure a girl with black hair just went into the building. She went threw the walls," he stated as she looked at him, shocked.
"You didn't even go in there to help him?!" She asked.
"He told me to stay like a dog! But I also am not good at fighting to tell you the truth. I might get hurt," he said as he heard screaming from inside.
"You idiot! You may have killed him!" She yelled as she grabbed her sword and a bottle of blue stones.
She quickly ran up the steps and opened the doors. She ran inside only to be sent flying backwards and landing on the ground. Her long black hair covered her face,e but that was not enough to stop her from killing these creatures and saving the witcher inside.
"You fucking bitch! You just pissed me off!" She yelled as she used magic to force Bruxa back into the mansion.
Jaskier got up, shocked as the screaming continued, but she managed to put up a shield and drop her sword to grab a small bottle and throw it. It shattered and exploded, sending the creature flying. She picked up her sword and took off running up the stairs.
"Witcher!" She screamed as she ran down the long hallway only to have the creature she hurt come after her.
Geralt was on the third floor fighting two at once, but one was strangling him while the second one was coming to take a bite out of him.
"Get off of him!" She yelled as she used her magic to force the one that was trying to take a bite out of him away from him
She sent Stella flying into the wall, breaking it. She hit the ground hard as she quickly got her sword and swung it, cutting off her arms. Then the third one Stella stabbed, and she promptly pushed him down to the ground. She went through the floor and smiled brightly as the witcher stood up, annoyed. Geralt got out his sword, and she smirked as he was covered in blood.
"You're welcome," she said as he saw a Bruxa behind her, and she saw one behind him.
She quickly tackled him as the two beasts flew into each other and landed on the floor next to them. Geralt used his magic to make the floor collapse underneath him, making them fall to the next level.
"Are you trying to bring this building down on our heads?! This place is ancient, you know!"'she yelled as he looked at her angrily.
"I wouldn't have to if you didn't show up!" He hissed.
"I saved your life, you boar!" She growled.
"I didn't ask you to!" He growled as he rolled on top of her as Baruxa came down on them but went threw the floor before she could break her neck.
"You fucker! You weigh as much as a fucking cow!" She yelled.
"Have you ever had a cow land on you?!" He asked as she smiled.
"Yeah, as a matter of fact, and I'm staring right at him!" She informed.
He glared at her and couldn't believe this woman! She was complicated and said what was on her mind. He felt like he knew her from somewhere, and when he saw her eyes, he knew he had seen her before. HOW DID SHE FOLLOW HIM?!
"How did you get here?!" He asked as she smiled
"Simple same way as you did, by horse!" she answered as they got up as the Bruxas were behind him.
"Run!" She shouted as she grabbed his wrist and took off running.
They went outside, and all three were waiting for them. Stella's horse was protecting Jaskier by breaking the skull of the Bruxa that Stella managed to hurt bad enough. She had no hands, so she was defenseless as Stella's horse used her hooves to stomp on her skull.
Geralt and Stella stood with their backs to each other, making Stella smile. One Bruxa was standing in front of them, and Stella quickly put up her shield as the one in front screamed.
"We will drain your blood! We are gods!" The one in front of Geralt screamed.
He put his shield up, but Stella was sliding backward since she was lighter than Geralt.
"Hey, witcher, when I count to three, drop your shield and hit the ground; these things will knock each other out, and we can kill them. Trust me; it has worked before," she said as he sighed.
There was no other natural choice, two against two was an even match, but these were vampires; also, since they were out in the open, they could turn into bats and fly around. Stella wasn't as strong as he was, and with the third one by Jaskier, he couldn't take the chance of them turning. They would be more robust and faster.
"Fine," he said as blood dripped down from her nose.
"Three, two, one!" She yelled as they hit the ground.
Both creatures went flying as their eardrum-breaking screams hit each other. Stella quickly got up and decapitated the one she was fighting before she got up. She ran over to Jaskier and cut the head of the one that Agata had trampled.
"Good girl, I'm getting you an ale when we go to the next town," she smiled as Jaskier looked at them, shocked.
"You murdered my sisters!" The Bruxa screamed.
"You are a murder that murdered people," he informed as he quickly killed her.
"Not bad for an old man," Stella smiled.
"Your horse just killed that monster," Jaskier pointed out.
"No creature how different is a monster unless it starts killing people out of anger, hunger, or for fun. I don't kill any beast until I know for sure if they are truly monsters, and in this case, the villagers were at fault for this too. I smelled burned flesh, and the villagers were hiding them. So yes, they were monsters but remember, never kill any beast out of fear. Just because they are different, then you don't mean anything. They all feel things," she said softly.
"You are braver than most," Jaskier said.
"I prefer to be more aware that not everybody is a monster until proven otherwise," she smiled.
"How's your leg?" Geralt asked as she smirked.
"Got a scar, but I'm fine thanks to you and this kid over here. Are we even now?" She asked as he looked at her oddly.
"You know you save me; I save you. I think I saved you plenty today," she chuckled as she got into her bag and got out a healing elixir.
"You didn't owe me anything," he stated.
"I would say otherwise, witcher. Stella, by the way, is my name. I worked with your kind before; quite a nice bunch, honestly. A little bit too horny for my liking, but I know your kind only lives off of five things, so that I won't hold it against you," she smiled as she tossed him the bottle.
"Five things?" He asked.
"Monster hunting, coin, ale, sex, and food," she chuckled with a small smile.
"Sounds right to me," Jaskier muttered as Geralt was going to ask her something.
"So sorry, no, I won't sleep with you. I'm not that type of girl, and I don't sleep with anyone unless I truly love them. I have yet to find that person. Your brothers Asher and Jerzy tried to court me, but I threatened to cut their balls off, so don't even try. See you around the witcher. Also, I would be careful with the healing position you carry. It looks like you pissed yourself," she smiled as she got on her horse and took off.
Geralt was trying hard not to smile, but he finally broke. For once, he smiled and chuckled a bit as he watched her leave. Never before had he met such a girl that was so; how would he even describe her? She was kind and intelligent, wasn't afraid to get her hands dirty, and was good with a sword.
"Dear god you are smiling? No! Don't do that! Why are you smiling like that?!" He asked, shocked.
"She is just different; I have a good feeling we will cross paths again someday," he smiled.
"I hope not! She is too scary for my liking and a bit of a bitch!" He informed.
Geralt drank the potion and put the empty bottle in his suitcase to find a small bag of coins. He couldn't believe this girl, and inside there was a piece of paper saying where she was heading next.
"You demon!" He chuckled as he now knew where he was going next.
