The Final Dance

Geralt stayed up all night, making sure she was still breathing. Just like last time, her heart stopped, and he waited for her heart to never beat again; it did. Geralt didn't know how Jaskier could even stand to be in the room with her, constantly on the edge of losing her; he hated it.

Geralt got some ale and drank some to keep himself awake, but he fell anyway next to her. Yennefer woke up and sighed, realizing her boy toy wasn't next to her. Sure Yen was disappointed, but she guessed that Lillian was important. Yen got up and went to check on both of them. She sighed weakly, seeing Geralt slumped over on Lillian's bed, sleeping while he was still sitting in the chair.

Yen checked on Lillian and saw the symbols that she made appear to save Jaskier were on one of her arms. Lillian's marks kept appearing and disappearing, making her want to see what Lillian was. Lillian woke up, and for a second, the markings disappeared completely. Lillian yawned and woke up and held her head in pain.

"Yennefer? I have so many questions right now," Lillian said as Geralt was still sleeping.

Lillian carefully got up and put the blanket around him.

"As do I, your mark on your arm is fading fast, and it looks like you will be hunted due to your magic powers. It would help if you told us what you are," Yen informed.

"I don't know what I am, and if I did, I would tell you. I have a husband and maybe kids; why would I leave them behind? If I'm a monster, I want to ensure that I am dealt with properly. I have been a little hard on Geralt for that reason. I would hate to think I was a monster, but if I was, then well, I could change, or I will have to be killed," she stated.

"Why do you keep thinking that Geralt is your husband?" Yen asked.

"What?! I don't! I have no idea what my husband even looks like!" Lillian protested.

"Well, apparently, your other side is very fond of him. A little too fond of him if you ask me," Yen said, glaring at Lillian.

"Look, I care about him as a friend, nothing more. You have nothing to worry about. Maybe he and my husband are the same height. I don't know, I want to be with him and I... whatever I did to him, I'm sorry. I would never do anything intentionally harmful to either of you. Maybe the real me knew him from a past life I don't know. All I know is that I want all of this to be over with," Lillian said as Yen left the room.

Lillian looked at her mark and then at all the bandages on her hands. She didn't understand why she couldn't keep her feeling bottled up better. Maybe that was why Lillian kept mistaking him for her husband. Embarrassment filled her, and Lillian hoped her husband could forgive her for this. But what if he didn't want her back? It was possible, and that alone would break her heart, but if he could tell that she liked Geralt, maybe he would let her go. She had to let him go just in case he was gone. It felt odd because it felt like a large piece of her was missing from her now. Maybe she lost someone close to her that she loved dearly like a child to some horrible disease.

Yennefer hated her too, but Lillian knew he would never go for an enslaved person or whatever she was. Yennefer had nothing to worry about, and Geralt seemed happy to sleep with whoever he wanted. Lillian hoped Yennefer would be okay with sleeping with every girl Geralt could get his hands on. She wasn't happy about it, but it was his choice, not hers. Good thing Geralt couldn't have children; otherwise, half the women in the land would be pregnant.

"Hey, you are alive! Are you feeling okay?" Jaskier asked as she sighed.

"Despite not remembering what happened again, sure I'm peachy. Yennefer also wants me dead now, too, so that's a plus," Lillian added.

"Geralt slept in your bed? It's not his fault your other half is very. How do I put this in a way that makes sense? Your other half is horny for your husband; there is perfect sense!" Jaskier smiled as she slapped him.

"Sorry... I wish I could keep my feelings to myself. Make it easier for everyone," Lillian said softly.

"Wait, Lillian you..." Jaskier paused.

"It's probably why my other half mistakes him for her husband. It's nice, but I can't stay with both of you. I don't even know what I am, and it's not fair to any of you," Lillian said softly.

"Are you kidding me?! You need to tell him!" Jaskier informed.

"No! Are you kidding me? Geralt is happy with the whores in the inn, and Geralt won't change for me, and I don't want him to. If he likes doing that, then so be it," she informed.

Geralt woke up even though he didn't want to. The smell of old blood hit his nose, making him get up quickly. Geralt almost forgot about Lillian, and to his surprise, she was gone. Panic filled him as he left her room only to find her looking at a plate of food rather sadly. Jaskier was with her, but she still seemed depressed.

"Good morning, Geralt sleep well?" Yennefer asked with a smirk.

"What did you do to Lillian?" Geralt asked, making Yennefer look at him oddly.

"Nothing; I just asked Lillian why she kept mistaking you as her husband, that's all. I think Lillian feels bad about that, and she should. After all, you are mine," Yen smiled.

"Lillian needs to remember who she used to be, and I have to pretend to be her husband, then fine, as long it gets her where she needs to go," he informed.

"You are full of surprises, honestly; I thought you would be bedding her the moment you saw her. She is beautiful," Yen chuckled.

"I'm not a home wrecker; we need to keep moving," Geralt muttered.

"Away from your problems or her? You know something is wrong with her either you smell it, or you already know what she is, so what is she, Geralt?" Yennefer asked.

"Something more powerful than anything I have ever come across. Lillian smells human, but it must be that spell on her arm. If that golden dragon was right about her being able to create different magics, then I think she created the spell, but maybe she unintentionally removed her memories," he answered.

"Why would she cast such a spell on herself?" Yen asked.

"You haven't seen her powers yet. That may be why. Lillian loved her husband dearly. Maybe she accidentally killed him with them or one of her children," Geralt theorized.

"Figures she would; she seems like the person that comes unhinged quite easily," Yen chuckled.

Geralt ignored that last comment. Seeing Lillian so devastated bothered him. Lillian had to feel the loss of the person she lost or killed on accent, and Geralt knew there was one way to fix that. The old Lillian loved dancing, and there was a kingdom nearby. Geralt was friends with the king after he killed a creature for him and loved his parties. The king threw on once a month, and he would have one tomorrow.

They headed to the kingdom without saying much to each other. Lillian kept to herself most of the time. They entered the domain, and sure enough, the king was throwing a party at the castle. Geralt and Jaskier managed to get in, and the king was more or less too drunk even to care what was happening. But the wife was making sure that everyone was having fun.

"Come to slay another monster witcher," the queen asked.

"Here for the party," Jaskier cut in as Jaskier was already eyeing some women.

"I'm not interested; I think I will go to an inn and stay there or be with Roach," Lillian informed as people sang and danced.

"Well, the more, the merrier, have fun!" The queen said as Lillian rolled her eyes at Jaskier, who was probably lying up a storm to bed a woman.

"Care to dance?" Geralt asked as she looked at him oddly.

"You don't dance," Lillian informed.

"I can make an exception for you," Geralt said as she sighed.

"Look, go have fun with Yennefer, do whatever it is; witchers do best. I'm not in the mood for making her jealous or mad at me, and I prefer not to get cursed," she informed.

"Why are you in such a bad mood?" Geralt asked.

"Because you want to sleep around or be with Yennefer, I'm going to be with Roach," Lillian muttered.

Geralt pulled Lillian close to him, making her angry, and he thought it was cute that Lillian got mad at him. She tried to break free, but Geralt started dancing with her. She seemed very bad at first until her muscle memory kicked in.

"I can't dance. It was one of the reasons why I didn't want to now. Can we please stop? We are making a fool out of ourselves!" Lillian growled.

"Your old self liked dancing. The old you told me so; in fact, you and your husband got married in a castle," Geralt informed as he noticed a line went away.

"Really, wow. That's..." Lillian paused as her anger melted away quickly and smiled at him.

"Nervous?" Lillian asked the elder, and he smiled a bit.

"Not at all," he said as she chuckled.

"Good because of all the trouble you put me threw today..." Lillian stopped speaking elder, and he was now growing concerned for a second.

"Impressive I never thought we would just get married in a castle of all things. This has been fun, but I'm leaving so I don't get into trouble with Yennefer," she informed as she broke free of him and left the room.

"Fuck!" Geralt growled, realizing it could have been her mood affecting her memory.

He needed to find Lillian and figure out what was happening with her. Geralt headed outside, but before he could, he was somehow in a completely different area. He had no idea where he was but knew this must have been meant for Lillian.

"Hello, witcher, fancy seeing you here," a man's voice said as roots quickly grabbed hold of his ankles and hands.

"Welcome to my cellar; I hope you have some time to answer a couple of questions for me," he chuckled, making Geralt smirk.

"Good luck getting me to tell you anything," Geralt smiled as the wizard that held him smiled.

"The more you tell me, the faster I will let you die," he informed as he held a knife in his hand.

"You idiot, Geralt, you forgot your coin! Why do you always forget something and I have to give it to you every time? Your lucky I'm not mad at you..." she sighed as she looked over at Roach.

"I know I should tell him, but I have a husband, Roach," she informed as Roach looked at her.

"Jaskier will tell him I know he can't keep his mouth shut about anything. I want to be happy. Is that too much to ask for?" She asked as she petted her and then headed back to the castle.

"I got some extra herbs for the trip back to your home," Yennefer said as she was heading back inside with her.

"Have you seen Geralt? I think I found a job!" Jaskier said excitedly.

"I thought he was with you," Lillian said as Jaskier held Geralt's sword.

"He never leaves anywhere without it...," Lillian said as she put her hand on one of the walls.

"Lillian, something wrong?" Yennefer asked, knowing that if Geralt was gone, that meant that someone was trying to get to Lillian or at least to ever whoever they thought was Lillian.

"You sick bastard! Taking my husband on our anniversary when I have children with me! I'm not going to let you get away with it so easily!" She hissed as her hair turned white, and her eyes turned as black as night.

"Lillian?!" Jaskier asked, seeing her face remind him a lot of Geralt when he took that black elixir.

"You two need to stay with me and don't for under any circumstances leave my side. A wizard took your father, and I have had to deal with six of those today!  I knew we shouldn't have come here, they're after me, but they don't know which of us is the creature with all the powers," Lillian muttered as she grabbed both of them by the wrist and quickly headed out of the castle to the others side of the kingdom.

"Lillian, no one took him, alright? Calm down!" Yennefer informed as men with swords started to come after them. She let go of their wrists and snapped her fingers, breaking all of the men's legs with ease.

"Sofia, I know you don't believe me when I tell you I'm dangerous, but I am. With what I am, no living being should have this much power, and that's why I don't use it often. I only use it for healing because I have seen more death than I care to admit. I killed armies to protect what I hold dear, and in the end, it was for nothing. You and your two brothers were the only survivors of a village by the coast. I know you don't remember because you were only three, but I did what I had to do. When I was your age, people wanted the powers I was gifted with, which killed almost my entire family. That's why I vowed only to use my powers to help those in need. I'm tired of fighting a fight I can't win, but I will keep fighting for all your siblings and your father because they mean more to me than my own life. If I have to die today, so be it," Lillian informed as she used her magic to break into the house.

A fire ring was around her, but she smirked at the wizard. She made sure to be in her standard form to throw off the wizard that had Geralt captive.

"I see you brought the Bard with you; he is hiding his powers so well. How did you do it for all these years? Why now are you just starting to use your powers again?" The wizard asked as Lillian laughed.

"Wizard, what makes you think my son has my powers? Don't you know that my magic can't be passed on? I am older than the magic you are currently using. I made your magic," she informed as she walked threw the ring with ease.

"The guardian is a man. It said so in the awakening journal!" The wizard growled.

"You mean the one I also wrote. It throws people off just like your owl friend. You aren't getting my children or their children ever," Lillian informed as she pointed to the ceiling, and an owl fell from the rafters and turned human. Lillian made them both get on their knees.

"He is in the cellar; get him out of here and take care of him for me. I have business with this wizard," Lillian ordered.

"Mercy, please!" The wizard begged as she smiled.

"If I show you mercy, then you will kill my children, and I won't let that happen," Lillian growled as Jaskier and Yennefer went into the basement and got Geralt free. He was covered in blood and burning up with a fever, but hopefully, Lillian could fix that.

They heard screaming and two loud bangs. Yennefer and Jaskier hurried with Geralt up the stairs to see both of the people had exploded. Lillian looked sadly at them and then looked away.

"I'm sorry I'm a monster, but I hope you know it doesn't mean I love you both any less. I want to protect you all from me, but I can't even protect my husband from myself. Take him to the inn. I will meet you there," she said softly, asking them both to look at her, terrified.

Geralt was right. Her powers were more potent than anyone thought possible.
