No Happy Endings

Jaskier was beyond tried; he stayed with Lillian all night, ensuring she would be alright. Lillian stopped breathing twice in the night, making him panic, but she started back up again. Lillian lost so much blood that he had to get three buckets of water to clean her up. He was furious wither Geralt because Lillian almost died, but Geralt was having fun with his witch girlfriend.

Jaskier had saved all of her bloody bandages that he had to change repeatedly on her hands. Lillian woke up a couple of times, but she was dehydrated with all the blood she had been losing and told him how she was confused about her feelings. He hated knowing the truth about both of them, but he was just there, and he was going to yell at both of them in anger in frustration. But Lillian, he had to be careful. When it was morning, Jaskier took all the bloody bandages and nearly kicked down Geralt's door, then dropped all the applications on top of Geralt. Geralt woke up and noticed Yennefer was gone making him sigh. Then saw all the blood and looked at Jasker in shock.

"Yeah, a lot of blood. I can't believe you didn't smell it and woke up. Lillian is fine; her heart stopped twice, and apparently, you didn't check up on her once since I took over! You are a fucking idiot!" He growled.

"I was busy," he said as he threw the bandages down.

"Yeah, fucking that dame witch! You know Lillian almost died?!" He asked

"I was busy," he said again.

"Typical of you! Things get hard, and you bail! You love her, and you were going not even to bother carrying she almost died!" Jaskier growled.

"I do! If I had known, I would have gone to her side!" He growled.

"But you were too busy because you were fucking Yennefer! You are so lucky she didn't hear it," he growled.

Lillian got up weakly and threw up blood, and was beyond confused about where she was. Lillian got up and tried to stand up but couldn't. She saw her hands and unwrapped them, letting the blood drip down on her dress. She remembered a war, but how did she get here? Was it a war?

"Anatol?" Lillian asked, remembering him slightly.

She got up and headed to the door. Blood dripped onto the floor. She stumbled a bit but caught herself on the door. She opened it, and the light hit her eyes, blinding her a bit. Find the children. Her head was pounding, and nothing made sense as she heard talking. She went to Geralt's room, and Jaskier jumped in surprise.

"Lillian?" Geralt asked, shocked to see her bleeding all over the place.

"Anatol? Where are the kids?" She asked in elder. She coughed up some blood and almost fell to the floor.

Jaskier caught her, and he looked at Geralt, annoyed.

"Don't worry, Geralt; I got her. Pretend you didn't see her bleeding everywhere. For a guy that says he loves this girl, he has an extraordinary way of showing it," Jaskier said as he helped her back to her room.

"Jaskier, how did I get in the hallway and oh my Gods! Did I kill someone?!" She asked, terrified.

"What? No, it is yours. Tell me what you remember, and we will go from there," Jaskier informed.

"Where is Geralt? Did he leave for a job or something? I'm hurt, so something must have happened to him! What happened to him?" She asked.

"He is fine; you helped a pregnant woman and almost died. He is fine; I promise you, Lillian. Let's get you taken care of," Jaskier said as she sighed.

"Okay... I saw Yennefer yesterday, I think.  Let me guess he is or was with her?" She asked, making Jaskier sigh.

"He was; she must have left right after he fell asleep," Jaskier said as he wrapped her hands up.

"Figures, he sleeps with anything that walks surprised he hasn't started working down the list of men yet," she sighed.

"You did good, Lillian; I know we don't appreciate you enough for everything you have done, so thank you. I hope your husband won't be mad seeing that you have been with two men, though," he said as she smiled sadly at him.

"I am so confused right now, honest, that I don't know what to do, Jaskier. What if I go back to him but don't feel the way I used to with him? Being with you two is crazy and fun; I see the world run into some monsters but not many recently. I don't know if I'm going to fall in love with him again," she said as Jaskier smiled.

"Well, love is extraordinary, and I think that whatever finally helped you start breaking that spell had to be a fleeting thought, maybe even. Maybe you remembered your wedding cake, and that spell was too weak and started breaking. In your heart, I know you care about this guy. He will be waiting for you, I'm sure," Jaskier smiled.

"I hope so; thank you, Jaskier, I know I was hard on you, and I'm sorry I was angry," she informed.

"Angry was an understatement, but I mean, with everything you went through, I shouldn't have said anything like that. I can't wait until I meet your husband. I am going to make him explain some things!" Jaskier said.

Lillian laughed, and Geralt got dressed but heard her laughter. Geralt missed her laughter a lot, and as soon as he was done, he went to her room. Geralt looked Lillian over and sighed as he saw how much blood was on her dress. Maybe he could get her another one. Lillian had been helping Jaskier sometimes, making her own money.

His yellow eyes scanned her body, and then she looked up at him. Her smile faded a bit when she saw him.

"Are you alright, Geralt?" Lillian asked as he nodded.

"I didn't see the cuts on your hands; they must have happened after you healed that woman," Geralt said as he went closer to them, and he saw how Jaskier was wrapping her hands and taking the bandages away from him.

"No wonder her hands keep bleeding," he said as he unwrapped her hands.

"Fine, you do it," he said as he left, annoyed.

He cleaned her wounds and looked at her cuts.

"So Yennefer, huh?" She asked.

"What about her?" He asked.

"Jaskier told me you liked her; you better not mess it up. Get her flowers even if it embarrasses you, dance with her when she asks, tell her she is pretty even when she looks like she got chewed up and spat out by a monster, and don't forget to talk about your feelings with her even when it's hard, and don't forget holidays, birthdays,  and anniversaries. Also, get her gift just because I hope my husband did that for me," she said as guilt filled him.

"We aren't like that," Geralt said as she pulled away and opened his shirt more to reveal her marks.

"Sure you aren't, then I'm blind. Like I said, stop sleeping around with people, or it will bite you in the butt, Geralt," she warned.

Geralt wanted her, but he couldn't have her. He bandaged her hands carefully and sighed a bit as he finished.

"Lillian, I was scared for you, I knew you were hurt, but she said all you needed was rest. Your heart stopped twice... I shouldn't have messed around when you were here. I keep messing up, and I have no idea how you can even stand me at this point," he sighed as she looked up at him oddly.

"Geralt witchers have a hard time feeling, and I get it. You thought I  was fine, so you were with Yennefer. Am I mad? No. Am I a bit disappointed that you did that instead of making sure she wasn't lying? You told me not to trust people right away, remember," she said.

Geralt sighed and then didn't say anything. She was disappointed; he didn't know why but that seemed worse than her being mad. Why couldn't she be angry enough to slap or yell at him that she hated him? He almost got her killed because he trusted Yennefer. He held her hands in his and pretended to look over the bandages, but he just wanted to keep her small hands in his large ones. He felt his heart race and didn't dare to look up at her.

"Geralt, I'm fine, alright," she said as he looked up at her softly.

"You could have died," he said as she smiled.

"But I didn't," she informed as he couldn't help himself any longer.

He was so close to kissing her when Jaskier barged in, making Geralt extremely pissed off.

"Your girlfriend is back; she went to get medicine for Lillian's fever," Jaskier said as he sighed a bit.

"Treat her right, Geralt; otherwise, she might turn you into a wolf," she said, then pulled her hands away and fixed his necklace.

He just kept messing up! Why?! Why was she so kind to him still? He didn't deserve it. He couldn't read her at all, but he was hoping maybe she liked him back. He didn't care that she was married or had kids. He loved her so much, and it wasn't fair she was married.

Lillian got up, and Yennefer gave her a small green bottle and drank it.

"If Geralt causes you any problems, let me know. I will beat him up for you," Lillian chuckled as Yennefer was shocked.

She wanted to make her jealous and angry again so she would have a reason to kill Lillian, but she wasn't mad nor upset. Either Lillian had the patience of a God, or she was hiding how hurt she was. Now she felt kind of evil, but evil, she didn't care. The way she looked at him, it was clear she liked him, but Geralt wasn't going to sleep with a petite girl. Who would really?

"I will be traveling again, and I'm sure we will come across each other again. It was more of a one-night stand thing," yennefer smiled.

"I think you two would be great together, don't break his heart. He has been throwing a lot already, okay? If anything tells him the truth, even if it hurts him. People don't do that enough and are left wondering what if. The spell I have, my husband, could be long gone, but I don't know because of it. I may never know or find his body even. Right now, I'm not going to give up, but I will have to accept he might be gone someday, and when I do, I hope I can move on. I think he would want me to do that," she said as Yennefer felt like a total bitch.

She was already grieving over a person she had no memory of and hid it so well behind a smile. It must have been excruciating to have to do that. She was trying so hard to hang on to him, but she had to come to terms he may be gone, and she was grieving without anyone noticing.

"That's why you saved that mother and child, not just because you remembered how but because it could have cost you your life," she said softly.

"I raised two children; both were greedy like the dragons in stories with gold. I tried, and no matter what I did, it wasn't good enough. Nothing I did was good enough for them, so I may have made a mistake with my husband and children that could have killed them all plus, I lived a long life, I think; I mean, I feel like I did. If not, oh well, human lives are so short. They may take them for granted, but I don't. Everything I have learned so far, I can't do that. Maybe he is still looking for me; maybe he is long gone. But if I'm going to be alone, at least I got those two kids," she sighed.

She was not only letting her husband go but Geralt too so they could be happy. She knew she could never make him happy and that Geralt would never have feelings for her. She had a husband, but could he still love her after being gone for so long? No matter how much it hurt her, she had to do the right thing and learn that not everyone got happy endings. She was never going to have hers, and oddly enough, she was okay with that even though she shouldn't be.
