Bad Feelings
They heard of a witch with great power near them, so they checked it out. Lillian felt awful about talking to the witch; she didn't know why but trusted her gut feeling. She couldn't go home because of Danny, but right now, she would instead go home and head to a place where a witch was. Lillian didn't like the feeling she was getting. Maybe she knew the witch, and she cursed her, or something else was going to happen that was worse. It was dark out, and the stairs were shining brightly. The moon was full, making it bright in the darkness. It still didn't make her feel better; she felt like she had been three this before. But whatever was keeping her memories locked away was giving her the warning.
"Geralt, we shouldn't go to the witch, I know we are almost there, but we can't. I have a bad feeling that we need to turn around," she informed.
"Get over it, Lillian. We need to find out who put that mark on you, why that mark is on you, and how to get that mark off of you." Geralt said as she walked beside him.
"Lillian, everything will be fine. That which will not hurt you," Jaskier said confidently.
"I'm not worried about that! Geralt, I know my mark can hurt people, but that witch, or whatever comes after meeting her, will be bad. Please trust me to know this," Lillian said.
"We are not turning around; we are right there," Geralt informed.
"Geralt, I am telling you I have a gut feeling that something terrible would happen, and you are just going to brush it off like it's nothing?" Lillian asked.
"You are worried that you may have hurt the witch somehow, and that is the mark. Get over it," Geralt said as he tied Roach up.
Geralt understood why she was afraid, but they needed answers. He cared about her, and the mark turned her into a person he didn't recognize. He hated it, as did Lillian, and Jaskier was terrified by her. Geralt wanted to know everything about Lillian and if she was a good person or not. Jaskier planted doubts in his mind, and now he couldn't shake them.
"Geralt, I am being as serious as I can be something bad is going to happen, but you are not listening to me! Do you not trust me anymore?" Lillian asked.
"I do, but I don't trust whatever thing is inside of you. I need to know what it is, Lillian, so we are going to see the witch," he said.
Lillian was trying so hard to be understanding, but with everything that was going on, she felt like her body was warning her.
"Okay, but I warned you," Lillian said as he got off Roach and tied her up.
He knocked on the door, and a naked man came to the door.
"Dear lord!" She shrieked, and she covered her eyes.
"Hello?" Geralt said as Jaskier was equally as confused.
"I need to get apple juice for the host," the man said, making Geralt realize he was under a spell.
"He is under a spell. He is harmless," Geralt said as he went in and saw a pitcher filled with some juice.
"I'm not going in there with a naked man!" She said.
"You saw Geralt naked," Jaskier pointed out.
"Hey! It was for medical reasons," she informed as he rolled his eyes and dragged her inside.
Jaskier followed Geralt, and they were led to an orgy party. Lillian couldn't believe her eyes turned red on the face while Jaskier enjoyed seeing all the naked women.
"Jaskier, cover your eyes!" Lillian demanded.
"Are you kidding me?" Jaskier asked as he was enjoying the view.
"Got your juice," Geralt said, not fazed by any of this.
"Your immune to my spell as well as your side kick over there," the witch said as he saw Lillian covering Jaskiers eyes.
"I'm a witcher, and I'm not sure what she is. Lillian has her memories blocked and a mark on her arm that we can't get rid of," Geralt informed.
"Interesting; I need to see her arm to get a closer look," she said.
"You need to turn your spell off first, I'm afraid. Lillian is a virgin, and things like this make her uncomfortable," Geralt informed as Lillian's face was red, and she was hiding her face.
"Oh, she is young; should have known," she smiled as she turned off the spell, and everyone started to panic and rushed out.
"Also, she is sixty years old or older; she doesn't remember how old she is either," Geralt said as the witch looked at him, surprised.
"Really? Now you caught my attention; my name is Yennefer," she smiled.
"Oh my God, I just want to leave," Lillian said as she shook.
"Lillian, you are fine! My god, naked people freak you out but not monsters?" Jaskier laughed.
"Well, it's funny for you, Jaskier. You have never been almost raped! Now I'm leaving. I had enough of all of this. Enjoy you're little sex party. I'm not going to be a part of this in any way, shape, or form!" Lillian said as she stormed out.
"Lillian!" Geralt yelled as she left quickly and then got sick by the building.
How people could just be okay with stuff like that made her sick. Geralt was way too okay with whatever that was and was hoping he didn't enjoy it, but that woman in that mask was beautiful, and Geralt wouldn't have any trouble getting under her dress if he wanted to. Any girl that he could get was fine; he cod get any girl he wanted, and that alone made her mad. Maybe because she met so many people like that or because those types of people tried taking her virginity away by force. She knew that Geralt would never do that, but the thought made her sick.
"Lillian, why in the hell did you leave?!" Geralt yelled.
"Wow, you have no idea, typical man!" Lillian growled.
"Sometimes we have to do things we don't like or want to do to get things done. This is one of them," Geralt said calmly.
"Say that when you don't age and men think it's okay to try to rape you, Geralt! Why do you think I don't go anywhere near you when you are with a whore or when Jaskier is with one? I can't because it makes me angry! Do you know how many women told me they had been raped by men or how many times I couldn't stop it because I drained all of my magic trying to defend myself from the child I raised?! To dam many Geralt, but you don't seem to understand that when you were looking for me, I killed people! Guilty and innocent people, and I can't forget their faces," Lillian growled.
"Lillian, you have to get over it! We have a bigger problem then, and you seem to forget that you killed people and don't remember doing it!" Geralt growled.
"You seriously think I forgot that?! I'm not stupid, Geralt, you may think I am, but every time you talk to me now, it's like I'm five! I'm not going to explode for no reason!" Lillian yelled.
"You killed nineteen people!" Geralt yelled.
"I was protecting you! I don't remember, but I got you out of your cells!" Lillian yelled back.
"No, you didn't. That thing did, and it didn't just kill those people. It butchered them! I'm trying to protect you, Lillian. I need to know exactly what you are because if memories trigger whatever it is, then people might try to kill you! They could use you as a weapon, and I don't want that. People treat people like me like monsters, and I know that is not what you are. Whatever that mark is doing to you, I don't like it," Geralt said as he looked at her, annoyed.
"You think I like this thing on my arm? I want to find out how to get it off, but right now, we aren't going to know what it is. That horny witch probably doesn't know a dame thing, and I know she is just going to screw you over or screw you," Lillian explained.
"That's fine with me," Geralt said as she scoffed.
"Yeah, I know it's fine with you because you sleep with every woman that looks at you, Geralt! I don't know what happened to you for you to be this way, but this behavior will destroy you. You might fuck the wrong girl, and you get her pregnant!" She yelled.
"I can't have children because of my mutation if that makes you feel better. With that mark, whatever is happening to you, you won't be able to either. Not for long," he informed.
"I raised two children already, and they both turned out terrible! One even sold me; it doesn't matter that you can't have kids. You need to stop this destructive behavior before you end up dead! You are not expendable, and people care about you, but you don't seem to care about that," Lillian said as a snake slithered out of the grass.
"I don't need anyone!" Geralt hissed.
"Then why? Why did you go looking for me then?!" Lillian asked.
"Because I didn't get you out in the first place; also, Jaskier kept bugging me about you because he had this stupid crush on you!" Geralt growled.
"So your guilt mixed with Jaskier annoying you? You are about Jaskier and wanted to make him happy; you care about him, and you can't hide that from me," she pointed out.
"I don't care about him, and I certainly don't give a fuck about you, Lillian! I'm tired of fighting with you! Get in there now, or I will make you!" He growled.
"I'm not your slave, so that won't work on me, Geralt! Also, if you don't give a fuck why the hell are you trying to help me and defend me? Stop with this stupid attitude you have," she growled.
"I'm tired of your stupid carefree attitude; if you have forgotten, I'm not going to be around forever; you got us in that mess! You are the one that let the king flirt with you and almost rape you! Grow up; you are over sixty years old! Not everything is sunshine and rainbows! You are the one who stayed with Danny for twenty years and let him hit you and push you around; you are also responsible for being mistreated for that same year! You asked for people to take advantage of you. Maybe if you did get taken advantage of, you would have learned not to trust people so blindly, and you would stop acting like everything can be fixed with an apology! Maybe you are an evil person, and that mark is just hiding your true nature, and if it is the case, I will not hesitate to kill you because I kill monsters. Right now, you are looking like a monster to me with all those people you killed, ending their suffering or not; you are on a fragile sheet of ice with me," Geralt growled as he tried grabbing Lillian, but she backed off.
"None of that was my fault; you told me you didn't think I was a monster," she said softly.
"I said to keep you calm! You split a tree in half because you got a little upset! Now come on!" Geralt growled.
Jaskier heard the yelling and had been standing in the doorway. He couldn't believe he finally snapped at her. The betrayal was there, written all over her face. Jaskier knew whatever the mark was; she couldn't help whatever was going on. Jaskier realized how unfair he was now Geralt was blaming her for everything. It was frustrating, to say the least, about her mark, but she asked to be raped, and she was just so kind to people that it never registered to her that a man was flirting with her. Geralt wasn't being fair to her, and he hurt her beyond what they could see.
She backed off, stepping on the snake resting in the grass. It bit her hard, making her panic and scream a bit. Geralt quickly killed the snake after it released her, and then he saw it was venomous.
"Lillian, we need to get you inside now," Geralt said as he tried touching her but used her magic to keep him away from her.
"Stop this right now!" Geralt yelled.
"You said I was a monster, and you kill monsters, so if I'm a monster, then I don't want you near me!" She growled as the position started to kick in quickly.
"Lillian, stop this. You will die!" He yelled in terror.
"Saves you the trouble of killing me then," Lillian said as her magic faded.
"Lillian, I know Geralt is difficult, but you don't need to kill yourself to make a point!" Jaskier said as he tried to get to her.
"I'm not providing a point, a monster deserves to die for killing innocent people, and that's what I did. I killed innocent people," she said as her veins started to turn black, and she passed out.
Geralt quickly picked her up and hoped it wasn't too late. He didn't mean to get mad at her; he didn't even see the snake coming out of the grass. It was right behind her, but he was so focused on being right that he ignored everything else.
"You just had to snap at her! I know she is complicated, and you are afraid of her mark, but you didn't have to blame everything on her. She probably even took that mark to save someone's life," Jaskier yelled as he picked up the dead snake.
Geralt didn't bother saying anything because he was right. All he had to do was keep her calm until he found out what that mark meant. She was a kind person, and he knew all those people she killed were out of mercy, and he called her a monster. Lillian would never hurt anyone just because she could.
"Yennefer!" Geralt yelled as Yennefer came running and saw Lillian.
"What happened?" She asked as she led them to a bedroom.
"A snake bit her; whatever made her kill all those people is maybe the only thing keeping her alive right now," he said as he laid her down gently and saw a line on her mark fade.
Jaskier handed her the snake, and she looked at it oddly.
"These aren't native in this part of the land; it will take me half an hour to make the antidote," she informed.
"She might not have half an hour," Geralt said.
"Well, it's the fastest I can make it, and it's going to take longer if you keep talking to me!" Yennefer said as she quickly started grabbing herbs.
Yen started making the antidote as fast as she could, and after she was done, she gave it to Lillian and then looked at the mark.
"I have never seen such a thing; it's not in a language. Just lines, this spell is very, very old; maybe this is a spell of an old elder. How does she get it?" Yennefer asked.
"I don't know; she can't remember when she even got it or how," Geralt said.
"Tried burning it off?" She asked.
"Also cutting it, but it healed her," he said.
"Well, this mark may be a very, very old spell, and if it is, then it's there for a reason," she said, "The antidote should be working right now, but it doesn't look like it has done a thing to her."
Maybe her mark was protecting her from him. He wouldn't be surprised; he blamed everything on her. Whatever it was, perhaps it was killing her now.
"Do you think she will live?" Jaskier asked.
"I don't know, I don't know what that mark is doing to her, but whatever it is, it can't be good," she informed.
Geralt made her so angry; she got mad like that before. Even when he was grumpy, she was right. They shouldn't have come here, and now she would die because he lost his temper with her.
"She will be fine, Geralt," Jaskier said softly.
"I told her I didn't care about her and would kill her if she were a monster. To her, she was a monster, and I was so focused on being right I didn't sense that snake by her feet. All she was trying to do was to get me to understand, and I brushed it off because of her mark," he said.
"You didn't mean anything you said to her," Jaskier said.
"Tell her that she tried killing herself again because I said she was a monster, and she didn't argue back. Her heart is slowing down; I can hear it. It's almost as slow as mine now," he said as he could bare to listen to it.
He got up and checked to see if she had a fever, and there was none. Was her body even fighting the position? Suddenly Lillian woke up and grabbed his arm, ad threw him into the wall.
"Oh fuck! Oh, fuck! Lillian, calm down!" Jaskier begged as Yennefer started choking her with her magic, but Lillian quickly broke free and started using the same magic on her.
Lillian stopped as soon as Yen passed out, and she stepped over her and headed out the door. Geralt quickly grabbed her, and she punched him in the face, creating a bloody nose. Her heart was completely calm, and she couldn't figure out why both times it was peaceful. Geralt had to stop her from leaving just in case she hurt anyone, so he tackled her to the ground. He pinned her down, but she was more powerful now than before. She head-butted him and wrapped her legs around his neck, and started to squeeze tightly. He struck her against the ground, but it didn't seem like it hurt her too much.
Finally, he broke loose, but she quickly pinned him down and put him in a chokehold. None of those humans stood a chance against her, and he could barely fight her himself. He hit her against the ground as hard as he could until she came off. He went to grab his knife, but it was gone; all his extra weapons and potions were gone. He looked around, and Lillian tossed his knife away and the rest of his things off in the woods.
"Lillian comes on; I know you are in there," he said as she just started walking away from him.
"Lillian!" He yelled as he got in front of her, and she glared at him.
Black blood started dripping down her eyes and then her nose and mark. The position must have kicked in again because, in a matter of moments, she passed out on the ground.
"Okay, I can live with this," he said as he picked her back up and took her inside.
"Oh my God, are you okay?" Jaskier asked as he grunted.
"Thanks for your help!" He answered.
"Geralt, I think I figured out her mark a bit," Jaskier informed.
"You don't understand what it is, and neither do I!" He growled.
"You touched her; she was defending herself. This whole time she was acting out because it's a dangerous mark, but what if it isn't? She saved us from that king, but what if she tried to go somewhere? We were her last thought, so she protected us. This little light of mine is a child's song; her sword fighting was the adult. Geralt, her old self, is trying to come back but can't because of that block, so it's coming back in pieces. It's not just about old memories, it's about feelings too, and she felt betrayed by you and me; that's why she tried to kill you. She had no idea it was you. It was someone else! When she saved us, she knew it was us because we were her last thought before one of the markings disappeared. This time she was trying to protect herself, and when the witch attacked and you attacked her by touching her, she fought back. That's why she left me alone because I didn't touch her," he explained.
Oddly enough, that made perfect sense, she left, and he got in her way. She was trying to go somewhere, but where and why? Yennefer woke up and was beyond pissed off that Lillian tried killing her. But Geralt straightened it out, and they would spend the night there. Hopefully, Hope wouldn't remember what he told her, but he was going to apologize to her when they were awake in the morning.
