At the hideout, we see Leon in the gazebo roof, playing his ocarina. Leon wraps up a song with an annoyed look, seeming frustrated over something.

Leon: I don't get it, how did she do it? Crystal must have done something right.

Crystal: Done what right?

Leon looks to see Crystal, accompanied by Luz.

Leon: Oh, hey Crystal. Hey, Luz.

Luz: Hey, Leon. good to see you, buddy.

Crystal: What are you doing up here?

Leon: I've been trying to see if I could harness bard magic, like you did with your singing. *looks down and sighs* But, I haven't had any luck.

Crystal: *pats his back* Hey, I'm sure you'll figure it out. . . eventually.

Luz: *eyes widen* I know! How about you come with us and Eda?

Leon: Where are you three going?

Crystal: Mom, is taking us to the knee to teach us some magic. Mostly, Luz since she needs to learn another spell pronto otherwise she'll be put in the baby course.

Leon: Oh, that's not good. Well, I guess maybe I could learn something with you guys. Alright, count me in.

Crystal: Splendid!

Luz: C'mon, let's not waste time.

About an hour later, Eda along with the three kids arrived at the knee. Leon was wearing black winter snow boots, red pants, a yellow sweater and winter jacket, and a black winter beanie. Crystal was wearing white boots with fur on the inside, white long pants, a light purple long-sleeve winter shirt, a lavender medium length winter coat, and white fuzzy earmuffs. The gang looked upon the winter landscape in amazement as Eda speaks.

Eda: Welcome to the knee, kids.

Luz/Crystal/Leon: Wow!

The three voices echo across the isles.

Eda: The earliest witches came to the Knee to develop their magic, drawn to its natural power.

Leon: Amazing.

Luz: It's beautiful.

Eda: Though, it's not without its dangers. *gestures to the side*

The kids look in shock to see a creature gnawing at a tree trunk.

Eda: The Slitherbeast! Don't worry, if you don't mess with him, he won't mess with you.

Luz blows a raspberry at the Slitherbeast, Crystal waves at it, and Leon looks on with interest. The Slitherbeast bites through the tree trunk and sniffs in the direction of the kids. The three yelp and run off.

Eda: Here's where we'll set up shop.

Luz: I'll definitely learn my second spell here! Gorgeous views, magic in the air. And best of all, we're completely alone!

Leon: Perfect for me to practice my music. *holds his ocarina*

Crystal: And you two have, Mom and I to help you two.

a pink light illuminates Eda.

Eda: Kids, watch out!

Eda tackles the kids seconds before a pink fireball hits the spot where they had been standing in. Eda pops up over the rocks they fell behind with her staff drawn. Luz, Crystal, and Leon also pop up, and gasps.

Amity: Sorry, whoever's over there!

Luz: *ducks back down, hides her face with her hat* Forget teaching me a spell, just make me disappear.

Eda: Well, okay, but I've got a 60/40 record of making you re-appear. Oh! You meant... ah, never mind.

The twins wave to them.

Edric: Hey, guys!

Emira: It's just us!

Luz: Okay, let's do this. *stands and waves* Hey, guys!

Eda: Who are they?

Luz: *grabs Eda's jacket* Be cool! If they know I haven't mastered two spells, they'll think I belong in the baby class!

Crystal: *whispering* And please don't embarrass me in front of Edric.

Eda: *smirks and whispers* Oh, so he's your crush?

Crystal: *blushes and nods*

Leon: You let it slip?

Crystal: I didn't mean to.

Amity: *walking toward them* What's that about the baby class?

Eda: Only that it's for babies, and Luz here clearly isn't a baby. *to a glaring Luz* Nailed it. *whistles and walks away*

Crystal: *carefully steps down* Hey, guys.

Leon: *slides down the snow* Hey guys, good to see you. Especially you, my Prankster. *Leon hugs Emira and kisses her cheek*

Emira: *Emira giggles and hugs back* Good to see you to, my Chemist.

Luz: Amity! *slips and poses on the ground* Wha... What are you doing here?

Amity: I'm here to train. I'm trying to beat Ed and Em's highest score on the exam.

Emira: Aw, Mittens. That's impossible!

Edric: She still needs to use a training wand to learn new spells. So what are you guys working on? Something powerful?

Leon: I'm hoping to find something here. I'm just unsure of what.

Crystal: I'm just here to assist them with my mom.

Luz: Yup! Powerful spells! I'm working on one that's so crazy! Eda's a pretty incredible teacher.

Eda: *carrying a basket of snowballs* Luz! I shall now teach you how to identify different types of snow—by taste! *holds out a snowball* Go on, eat the snow. *shoves it in Luz's face*

Leon and Crystal look at Eda with confusion and shake there heads in disappointment.

Emira: Is this some kind of... special magic?

Amity: Ahem. I don't think the Owl Lady wants to show us any of her powerful spells. *leaves*

Eda: *points at her mouth full of snowballs; swallows* Oooh. Brain freeze! Brain freeze!

Emira: See you around, guys! Good luck with your, uh, training.

Edric picks up a clump of snow and tries to lick it. Emira knocks it out of his hand and drags him away.

Edric: Aw.

Luz, Crystal, and Leon wave as they leave before looking at Eda.

Luz: Eda! Can you please take this seriously?

Crystal: Yeah, that was a little embarrassing.

Leon: I don't even know what you're doing.

Eda: You need to take me seriously. Go taste snow without my guidance, see where it gets you.

Luz looks downcast.

Eda: Oh. *sighs* Don't worry, kid. *ruffles Luz's hair* If you listen to me, soon you'll be doing stuff like that.

They look at the Blights. Amity reads from Magic 101, then aims her training wand at a tree and draws a spell circle with it. The produced fireball destroys the tree.

Eda: And it won't be with some wack training wand, it'll be the real deal. But you have to trust me, okay?

Crystal: To be fare Luz, I wouldn't want to be caught dead with a training wand.

Leon: It's a miracle that I got to where I am without using one for basic spells.

Luz: *nods* Okay, I trust you, Eda.

Eda: We've covered snow, so now it's on to smelling moss. *pulls moss out of her pocket* Now the trick is, *shoves the moss up her nose* you really gotta get it up in there.

Luz's expression quickly falls as Leon and Crystal look at her in disgust.

Leon: Um, we're just gonna go over there. *points to a random direction*

Crystal: Yeah, we'll be near if you need anything, Luz.

Luz: Okay, good luck guys.

Leon and Crystal walk off. They arrive at a nearby cliff side and are amazed by the view.

Crystal: Wow, have you ever seen a sight so beautiful in your life?

Leon: Um, you do know I'm dating Emira right?

The two laugh in response.

Leon: Seriously though, the view is amazing.

Crystal: Yeah, you can practically see all the isles from up here.

Leon: Well, we better get to work on honing our own skills.

Crystal: Right, let's do this!

Crystal and Leon get to work on practicing their magic skills. Crystal was magnificently harnessing her magical skills in a fantastic display. Leon on the other hand was doing no better trying to harness bard magic from his instrument. After a couple hours, Leon sighs in frustration from not getting anywhere with his skills. Crystal notices and sits with him.

Crystal: Hey, what's wrong?

Leon: Well, a couple weeks back when I was hanging out with the twins, I did something that caused my ocarina to let off some magic. I've been trying to recreate that for the past few hours and have been getting nowhere.

Crystal: Oh, I'm sorry to hear that. But hey, I'm sure you'll figure it out soon.

Leon: . . . How did you do it? The bard magic, with your singing?

Crystal: I don't know. I just sing and enjoy myself. I don't worry about anything around me and just focus on my voice.

Leon listens and gets an idea. He starts to play, this time not even trying to accomplish anything. He simply plays to enjoy himself. And then . . . it happened.

As Leon played, he started to glow and magical notes flew from him. Crystal was amazed by the sight and was happy to see Leon harnessing the power of bard magic. Leon opened his eyes to see what he was doing and was surprised. He continued playing with pure joy as his song was heard across the isles. Eventually, his song ends and he let's out a triumphant cheer.

Leon: Yes yes yes YES!!! I did it!

Crystal: *hugs him* You can use bard magic!

Leon: I can! Oh my parents will be so proud!

The two hear a growl suddenly and go to investigate. The two see the Slitherbeast running off with Eda and the twins with Amity following it.

Leon: Ed and Em!

Crystal: Mom!

Leon: Wait, where's Luz?

Crystal: Over there!

Leon looks to see Luz inside of a cage. The two run over to her.

Crystal: Luz, what happened? Who put you in here?

Luz: Amity did, and she was right to do so. I got so desperate in wanting to use magic that I grabbed Amity's training wand and accidently angered the Slitherbeast. Because of me, it has Eda and the twins. Amity was right, I'll just get hurt.

Leon: Luz, that's not true. You're a good person and will accomplish your goal.

Crystal: You just had an accident, we'll rescue them. We just need to get you out of here first.

Leon: We can't, it's a magic cage. Magic can't pierce it.

Luz: *sighs and looks to the skull* You were supposed to teach me magic. But I'll never learn more than this.

She pulls a notepad and a pencil from her pocket and draws a light glyph. She activates it and watches as it flies into the sky. Stars blink above. Leon and Crystal look up and see something.

Leon: Luz, look.

Crystal: *points* You might want to see this.

Luz: *looks up* Wait. Is that...

The stars form a constellation in the form of her light glyph. She traces the outer ring with her finger.

Luz: ...a light glyph? But what does that mean?

A snowflake lands on her glove. She looks at it, seeing a pattern in the center before it melts.

Luz: Woah.

Determined, she grabs a stick. She breaks a twig off of it and catches another snowflake.

Crystal: It's like, Mom said.

Leon: Magic is a gift from the island.

Luz: It means...

She draws the glyph from the snowflake into the snow with the twig, adding a diamond to the bottom. She taps the glyph on the ground, backing away when a small pillar of ice rises from it.

Luz: ...magic is everywhere.

Luz grabs the bigger stick and replicates the ice glyph, this time the entire size of the cage.

Luz: Magic is everywhere!

She jumps off the rock and activates the giant glyph. The resulting ice pillar grows taller than the cage, launching her through the air.

Luz: Whoooo—aaah! *lands in the snow*

Leon: Oof! *looks away with a pained expression*

Crystal: That's gotta hurt.

Luz: *pops up* My second spell! Thank you, snow! Thank you, island! Thank you, Eda. *pauses*  Eda! we have to save her.

Crystal: Right, c'mon!

Leon: Let's move team!

The three of them run off. A while later, they arrive at a cave. Inside, the Slitherbeast spits purple goop at the wall. It shoves Eda, Emira, and Edric against it. The goop closes around their torsos. The Slitherbeast hops away.

Emira: Don't worry. We'll be fine!

Skeletons drop from the ceiling.

Edric: No, we're gonna die.

Luz: That's right. *pops up with a skull over her face* Death is here. *lifts skull* Just kidding, Luz is here!

Eda: Kid, get outta here! I'm just gonna sneak away when the thing starts eating the twins.

Emira: Wait, what?

Edric lets out an offended gasp.

Luz: Don't worry, Eda, I get it now. I was so obsessed with learning my second spell, I didn't listen to you. But now we're gonna save you! *jumps away* Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.

Eda: Well, at least I got to see her misplaced confidence one last time.

Emira: I just wished I could tell Leon that I love him one last time.

Edric: I never even told Crystal how I feel.

Eda: What?

Edric: . . . Okay, I admit it! I have a crush on your daughter. She's just so sweet and awesome.

Eda: *smiles* I'm glad you think so. I'd fight anyone who dares hurt her.

Edric: Thanks. I couldn't agree more.

Cut to Amity peeking around a boulder with a serious expression. Luz pops up under her with a similar expression as well as Leon and Crystal. Amity notices them and her expression becomes shocked.

Amity: Luz! Leon! Crystal!

Luz/Leon/Crystal: *grinning* Hello!

They all duck behind the boulder.

Amity: *to Luz* H-how did you get past the barrier?

Luz: Magic! Literally! Now, forget that, because we're gonna have to work together if we want to save everyone.

Crystal: Let's do this!

Leon: I'm ready!

Amity: . . . Alright, what do we need to do?

Luz: Okay, here's what we're gonna do.

Luz huddles everyone together and explains the plan. Now outside, Leon and Crystal were waiting. As they waited, Crystal noticed that Leon was shaving some ice into a beaker.

Crystal: Um, what are you doing?

Leon: It's permafrost. This stuff is perfect for ice potions.

Crystal: Okay, just make it quick. Luz and Amity should be out with everyone soon.

Leon nods and hurries with gathering the permafrost. Eventually they see Luz running outside with the Slitherbeast chasing her. 

Crystal: Alright, here they are.

Leon: All she has to do is lead it to the ice glyph in the snow.

Luz leads the Slitherbeast towards the glyph. Unfortunately, the beast steps around the glyph and steps closer. Luz remains unfazed and signals Leon and Crystal. They nod to each other and step out. Leon pulls his ocarina and starts playing while Crystal starts singing as well.

As they play, everyone else watched with interest. They were surprised to see Leon using bard magic with his ocarina, but Emira was simply enjoying the sound of her boyfriend's song. Edric on the other hand was completely enamored by Crystal's voice like back at Bat Queen's cave. The Slitherbeast falls into a trance and starts to walk towards them and right onto the ice glyph in the snow.

Leon/Crystal: Now, Luz!!!

Luz: Gotcha!

Luz steps on a huge ice glyph drawn into the snow and ducks away from the rising pillar of ice. The ice launches the Slitherbeast into the air and it lands hard on its back. Everyone else runs out of the cave and joins Luz, Leon, and Crystal. The Slitherbeast rights itself, screeches at the witches, and runs at them.

Eda: You want me to teach you kids something cool?

Amity/Emira: Yes!

Edric: Yes, please!

Eda: *runs forward, draws complicated spell circle, and grunts* Sleep spell!

Her spell circle passes around the Slitherbeast and it immediately falls to the ground and begins snoring.

Luz: Now that's my mentor! *to Eda* Did you see? I learned my second spell! I made the connection!

Eda: I saw. *ruffles Luz's hair* Nice work, kiddo. And Crystal, that was quite the performance you and Leon put on.

Crystal: Thanks, Mom.

Leon: *smiles with pride* Thanks, Eda.

Emira: *sighs* You showed some real bravery in there, sis.

Edric: Yeah, nice work, kiddo. *ruffles Amity's hair*

Amity: Grr, stop! *fixes her hair and approaches Luz and Crystal* So it looks like we'll be in the same class.

Luz/Crystal: Azura Book Club? Azura Book Club?!

Amity: *blushing and whispering* As long as it's a secret club, okay?

Edric: It's not a secret!

Emira: We're gonna tell everyone!

Amity sighs disappointedly. Edric then smiles and hugs Crystal who quickly hugs back.

Edric: Crystal, you sounded amazing. Thank you for saving us.

Edric then suddenly kisses her who blushes in response. Edric ends up blushing as well and is about to speak, but Crystal quickly kisses him back before he can speak. Edric is caught off guard but kisses back. Leon and Emira watch with smiles.

Emira: You guys were pretty heroic.

Leon: I guess that makes me your knight in shining armor?

Emira: Don't push your luck.

Leon chuckles and kisses her cheek. Eda sneezes and gets their attention.

Eda: Alright, your adorable banter is literally making me sick. Let's go home already.

Luz: On it, teach!

Crystal: Yes, Mom. *to Edric* I'll see you later, Eddie. *kisses him*

Leon: I'll see you later, Blights.

Luz draws an ice glyph under her, Crystal, Eda, and Leon and activates it which sends them flying back to the Owl House. Once there, they open the door to find King and Hooty who are standing in the middle of a mess of stuffing.

Eda: Ahem! What the heck did you two get into?

Crystal: This is exactly why I volunteer to stay to watch them.

King: Um, excuse me? We're having a moment here!

Hooty: You'll never understand what we've been through together! Never! Never!

King: *walks away* Ugh, moment ruined.

Hooty: I will be haunted by my actions forever. Hoot hoot!
