CHAPTER THIRTY-SEVEN: A LIGHT SUPPER

Five stopped in front of a tall building, he looked down at the paper in his hand to see if he got the address right and he has.

The Handler's words were still in his head.

"She is gonna be the death of you Five Hargreeves, one day she is gonna die in your arms again and this time, she will stay dead and you wouldn't be able to save her"

"She is gonna die because of you. Just like what happen back at the theater"

"You are a danger to her. She is gonna get hurt because of you"

"Five" a voice said which caused Five to snapped out of his thoughts before he turned to see you walking up to him.

"Em, how did you know---" "When were you gonna tell me?" you asked "About what?" he asked "About Reginald putting that serum in me. Experimented on me. Putting me in my younger body and then in a coma for six years?" you asked and Five's eyes blinked a few times "You remember?" he asked "No. But Luther told me" you said "Of course, he never know when to keep his mouth shut" Five said.

"When were you gonna tell me?" you asked "Well, I was going to, but I wanted to do it slowly, 'cause I was scared that it would be too much information to you and it would fucked up your brain" he said "I just wish you would have told me back at the apartment where we were talking in the living room" you said "Would you have handled it better if I have told you?" he asked "I don't know" you said.

"I'm sorry okay, for everything. You're right, I should have told you sooner. I was a shitty friend every since I came into your life and you don't deserve that" he said "Five Hargreeves is confessing and being soft right now" she said and he let out a sigh "I want to say every word I want to say to you because I want to cherish every single second that I am with you right now. I don't care if I look or sound soft today, tomorrow or the next few weeks, months and years. I just want to know, right now. I'm sorry" he said.

"Well, then I accept your apology" she said "You are not mad at me anymore?" he asked "No, I was never mad at you, but now when the apocalypse will happen in a few days, I might as well forgive you, 'cause I don't want to be angry at you when the world ends" you said.

"We can stop this apocalypse" he said said and you nodded "Beside even so you don't see it yourself, you are actually a good guy, and after what you have told me, you also deserve happiness" you said.

"I'm only fully happy when I'm with you 'cause you are my happiness and my forever" Five said inside his head which caused you to smile 'cause you read his mind.

"Come, let's go" he said and you nodded before you two walked towards the entrance.

Five pushed one door open and held it open as you walked through it "Thank you" you said with a smile as he walked in after you before putting his hands in his pockets as the two of you walked up the stairs before you walked towards the elevator.

"Can I ask you why you are even here?" he asked "Got a letter from Reginald" you answer and Five nodded.

A part of him didn't like that his dad asked you to be there too. But he wouldn't let his dad throw shade at you too, his siblings were use to him, you wasn't and he didn't want you to be unstable after. Reginald have already cause you enough damaged and Five was not gonna let him cause you more.

He took a deep breath as he press the button on the elevator before he fix his blazer as the elevator started moving to get to their floor.

"Don't worry, it's gonna be okay" Five said "Yeah, I know, it's just after what he did to me" you said as you looked down "I will never let him hurt you again, I will protect you, I promise" he said as he looked you and you looked at him.

His eyes then widened when he saw a cut on your lips. He didn't notice it before because it was too dark but now when they were inside and it was more bright, he saw it.

"What happened?" he walked closer to you so you were inches apart.

"Are you okay?" he stroke his thumb over the cut "What happened?" he asked worried as he quickly pulled up a tissue up from his pocket, lick it a bit before he started wiping the cut.

"It's nothing Five, just ran into Lila, who tried to kill me" you said and his eyes widened.

This was why The Handler wanted him away from you. So Lila could kill you.

He couldn't believe that he almost was fooled by her, he almost made the decision in staying away from you, but not being with you hurt, beside you will just be in more danger.

So he was not gonna stay away from you, he is gonna do his best in being by your side, so he can protect you better.

"I'm fine, Five" you said as you gently push his hand away from you "But I mean, thanks for caring" she said "Of course I care" he said and you smiled.

"Five, I know that you know me and I have a feeling that we do know each other, but I'm not that person you once know anymore" you said "Of course you are. You are still the same person I once knew, but you just don't remember 'cause you have lost your memories, but I'm gonna get them back, I'm gonna unlock that door where your memories are" he said.

"Why do you care so much?" you asked "'Cause like I said, we were close" he said "I can see that you care for others" you said "No, I don't" he said "I bet you cared for that Natalie person. Your Natalie must've been very special to have people like you care for her" you said "She is very special, best person I ever met" he said "You had a soft spot for her, didn't you?" you asked and he looked down "I'm guessing you two were very close" you said and he let out a sigh as he looked down "Five?" you asked but he didn't answer, he just looked down at the ground.

"I wasn't supposed to mention her, was I?" you asked and he looked back at you "I don't care about others" he said "Well, you care for me. I must be very special to have people like you care for me" you said "You are very special, you are the best, strongest, most beautiful and most amazing person I have ever met" he said "You have a soft spot for me don't you?" you asked and he looked down "I'm guessing we two were very close" you said "We were" he said "So I was important to you?" you asked "You still are" he said.

"Well, you care for me. I must be very special to have people like you care for me" you said "You are very special, you are the best, strongest, most beautiful, wonderful and most amazing person I have ever met" he said "You have a soft spot for me don't you?" you asked and he looked down "I'm guessing we two were very close" you said "We were. Inseparable" he said and you smiled. 

"Five, I know that you know me and I have a feeling that we do know each other, but I'm not that person you once know anymore" you said "Of course you are. You are still the same person I once knew, that person I fell in love with, but you just don't remember 'cause you have lost your memories, but I'm gonna get them back, I'm gonna unlock that door where your real memories are" he said.

"You know Five, I think I have feelings for you, no more, I like you Five, a lot. So much that I think I'm falling in love with you" you said "I'm in love with you too Em. I have always being in love with you, right for the first time I saw you and even after forgetting about you, that bond and connection we had never disappeared 'cause it was unbreakable and strong" he said and you smiled.

Five then put his hands on your cheeks before he leaned closer.

But as your lips were inches apart the elevator dings and the door opened causing the two of you to pull away before you both enter.

Five glanced at the buttons before clicking on the right one while you took a deep breath as Five put his hands in his pockets before he let out a sigh.

Just as the elevator door was about to close, someone put their hand in between the doors, causing them to open and you and Five looked up while they furrowed their brows

"Wait up" Diego said as the door opened and he stepped into the elevator.

Then approaching footsteps was heard and they got louder as someone came around the corner.

"Hold it" Allison said as she entered the elevator before Klaus came around from an opposite corner and he stumbled slightly as he walked into the elevator "Hey, everyone" he said as Vanya walked in after him as Klaus stood in between Diego and Allison causing Five and you to move closer to each other so your shoulders was touching each other causing you two to looked at each other before smiling while you were both blushing a bit.

"Hello little sis. Good you're here" Klaus said as he ruffled your hair.

Luther then came in last, going in between Vanya and Five "Excuse me" he sid as he stepped into the elevator.

"Good. We're all here" Five said and the elevator dings before the door closed.

Silence filled the elevator as you were all waiting for it to stop on the right floor.

The elevator ding each time it passed a floor.

Luther was looking up when he let out a softly grunt.

Then you all scrunched your faces slightly as you smell something disgusting.

It smelled so bad that you almost couldn't breathe.

Klaus tilted his head and Diego was looking down as Vanya looked off to the side.

"Oh" Allison said and everyone started to make a weird face as they could smell it while Diego was trying not to laugh.

You furrowed your brows a little while you were looking around, trying to find out what small so bad.

"Oh..." Allison said before she covered her nose with her shirt "Oof" Five and Vanya said "Luther" Klaus said "Have you shit yourself?" you asked as Vanya pinched her nose while Five covered his nose with his hand.

"Sorry, I'm nervous" Luther said "No more eggs for you" you said as you lifted your arm and buried your nose into your elbow.

"Oh...Luther, that smells amazing" Klaus said, earning a weird look form you before you stuck your face in the crook of Five's neck which caused his face grew extremely hot almost immediately.

Feeling your warm breath tickle his neck sent shivers down his spine as did the feeling of your lips even slightly touching his skin. It was almost exhilarating. He would be lying saying it didn't turn him on ever so slightly.

The elevator dings and as soon as the door opened, you rushed out of the elevator with Five and Vanya right behind you and Allison followed after you, still covering her nose.

"Nasty" Five said, shaking his head "I'm choking" Allison said "None of that" Klaus said as he, Diego and Luther walked out of the elevator and they could hear island music play softly over the speakers.

You noticed that the room they have entered was huge. The walls was decorated and there was four tables, one of them in the center of the room.

"All right, when Dad gets here, I'll do the talking, okay?" Five said as you all walked over to the table in the middle of the room.

"I got a few questions for him myself" Diego said as Allison stopped next to table that was standing off to the side before she took off her cardigan while you walked over to stand next to Five.

"Hey, we don't wanna scare him off. He might be able to help us stop doomsday, get us home" Five said as Diego, Vanya and Luther walked around the table while Allison stayed back at the table she had stopped at as Klaus was getting a drink from the bar.

"No, we need to figure out why he's planning to kill the president" Diego said "This is a matter of life and death, you imbecile" Five said "I don't know about this, I mean if you got some randomly vist from six people claiming to be your children with superpowers from the future, telling you an apocalypse was coming in a few days, I mean would you believe them?" you asked as you glance at the siblings "I don't think this Reginald guy will believe you, and you might screw up the future" you said "It's a risk we have to be ready to take" Five said.

"Maybe you guys should take turns in talking?" you suggested "Emily, I love you but we don't have time for a debate, okay?" Five said.

"No, she is right. Okay yeah, maybe we should take turns talking. Yeah?" Vanya said before she picked up a shell from a table that was standing on the side. "Here, whoever has got this conch shell gets to talk" she said "Vanya, we don't have time for a debate, okay?" Five said "Fivey, maybe Vanya is right maybe we should take turn, Pretty Boy" you said causing everyone to look at you.

"She said the things" Klaus "What thing?" you asked "Pretty boy and Fivey was one of the nicknames you made up for me" Five explained "Like I used to call you Jumpy Guy, Coffee Boy and Short Pants" you said "Yeah, you called me that all the time. It was annoying at first so you tease me with it, but then it started growing on me" he said "I think I remember us sitting in your room when I came up with it" you said and Five smiled "Glad you're slowly remembering" he said and you smiled before you turned to the chair next to Five.

But then Five blinked over to the chair before he pulled out the chair for you while he smiled to you, "Thank you" you said with a smile as you sat down and he pulled the chair you were sitting on closer to the table.

"Maybe I should lead" Allison said as she grabbed the shell from Vanya "We all know I'm better public speaker than the rest of you" she said.

"Okay, Daddy's girl" Diego said "Oh, jealous, Number Two?" Allison asked "Hey, no more numbers. No more bullshit. We're Team Zero. We're all Team Zero" Diego said "Zero is a number" you said.

"Uh, Diego. We don't have a conch" Luther said and Diego put his finger up, nodding and he smiled fakely at Luther before he grabbed the shell from Allison and turned around, throwing it at a wall causing it to shatter "Classic" Allison said.

Then suddenly the door behind you, Five and Diego opened causing everyone to look at the door to see Reginald walking towards to the table quickly with a notebook in his hand.

You could feel your heartbeat raced in anxiety.

"Reginald is an evil and dangerous man"

Reginald glanced at you as he walked past Five to the other side of the table.

He then sat down and the others all took a seat at the table. 

You were about to walk over to another table but then Five grabbed your arm which caused you to turn to him "What?" you asked "You can sit next to be, you are part of this, beside I can focus more when you are near me" he said as he looked at you "Please sit" he said "Fine" you said before you took a seat next to Five.

Five was ready for anything if now Reginald decided to do something.

Reginald glanced at you again, like he saw and felt something in you, something very strong and incredibly powerful.

His eyes then scanned you up and down before they widened a little bit "It can't be" he said inside his head.

He then took a deep breath as he changed expression so the others wouldn't notice.

"Not only have you burglarized my lab" Reginald said as he fixed the end of his blazer and shirt sleeves "Set my chimp loose, conned your way into Mexican consulate, repeatedly stalked and attacked me, but you have, on numerous occasions, called me..." he said but got cut off when Klaus while holding a drink in his hand, moved his chair that was between Reginald and Diego, drawing everyone's attention.

Klaus sat down as he grunted softly before he looked at Reginald "Hey, Pop. How's it hanging?" he asked as he was holding a drink in his hand.

"....'Dad'" Reginald finished as he was glancing at Klaus while Five glanced between Klaus and Reginald "My reconnaissance tells me you're not CIA, not KGB, certainly not MI5, so...who are you?" Reginald asked.

Silence filled the siblings as they all looked at each other trying to figure out what to say.

"We're your children" Five started causing Reginald to look at him "Except me, but you were the one that trained me together with the others" you said.

"We're from the future. In 1989, you adopted us all and trained us to fight against the end of the world" Five said and Reginald glanced at each of them "Called us the Umbrella Academy" Five said.

"Why on earth would I adopt six--" "Seven" Allison said, cutting Reginald off "One of us isn't here" she said "Dead. One of us is dead" Diego said.

"Yeah, ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba" Klaus said as he was moving his fingers together while he put his hand up before he turned around in his chair "Enough of that now" Klaus said to the air behind him causing Reginald to look confused at him and Klaus looked at him before he waved for them to continue.

"Regardless, what would possess me to adopt eight ill-mannered malcontent?" Reginald asked "We all have special abilities" Five said as he leaned forward a bit.

"Special? In what sense?" Reginald asked "In the superpower sense" Luther said "Called me old-fashioned, but I'm stickler for a pesky little things called evidence" Reginald said before he looked at the others "Show me" he said.

Allison picked up her glass in front of her before she twisting the straw "Everybody wants to see powers all of a sudden" she said with a scoff.

"We're not circus animals, okay? We're not gonna bounce balls on our noses and clap our hands like seals for your amusement" Luther said.

Then while looking at Allison, Diego grabbed one of his knives before throwing it towards Luther.

The knife made a curved in mid air and flew towards Reginald before it turned, flying past his ear before changing direction again, lodging itself into a pillar making a loud metallic thud.

Klaus looked at the knife while Reginald wrote something down in his notebook causing everyone to lean forward a bit.

"What are you writing?" Diego asked "You are zero for two, young man" Reginald answered, referring to the night where he stabbed Diego, causing Allison to snicker into her glass.

Diego stood up from his chair and he was about to charge at Reginald but Five blinked out of his chair before he appeared in front of Diego, putting his hands on his shoulder, stopping him "Stop" he whispered.

"Now that is interesting" Reginald said.

Then your eyes glow red and as red mist-like shapes energy whisps wrapped around your hands, red whisps wrapped around Diego and he floated over and was force down on a chair "Sit down Diego and stay there" you said as your eyes changed back to normal while Five looked at you with a smile.

"That's my girl" 

You looked at Five who quickly looked away, hoping you didn't just heard what he said inside his head.

"That is also interesting. Very" Reginald said before he wrote something down in his notebook.

"All right, uh, quick rundown" Five said before he pointed on Luther "Luther: Super strength" he said before he pointed on Klaus "Klaus can commune with the dead" he said before he pointed at you "Natalie has telekinetic abilities, Metal manipulation abilities, psionic energy abilities, levitation abilities, Energy shield abilities, can created energy blasts with her hands, create a shield of telekinetic energy and can read minds but she had to choose a person to listen to" he said as he sat back down on his chair next to you.

Reginald looked at you which made you sink a bit before you look away, hoping that if you look away, he wouldn't see or notice you.

"That is interesting, fascinating. Very" you heard Reginald said inside his head before he wrote something down in his notebook.

Five then pointed on Allison "Allison can rumor anyone to do anything" he finished.

"Except she never used it" Diego said and Allison looked up before she turned her head to Diego "I heard a rumor you punched yourself in the face" she said and an energy wave travled out of her mouth to Diego, making his eyes to turn white before his fist jerked up, punching himself in the face.

"Aah. Damn it" Diego groaned as he was leaning forward while grabbing his nose while Five let out a smirked as he gestured his hand at Diego while looking at his dad.

Reginald then turned to Vanya "And you?" he asked "Uh, maybe we don't take Vanya for a test run" Luther said "Oh, yeah, that's probably not a good idea" Klaus said while moving his glass in his hand "Yeah" Luther said "It's fine. I can handle it" she said as she grabbed a fork "Handle it? Last time you handled it, you definitely blew up the moon" Allison said.

But Vanya raised her fork to tap it against her glass in front of her "No, Vanya don't" Five said as everyone moved their chair back telling her to stop.

As Vanya hit the glass with the fork making a high-pitched tone resonating, Five blinked over to you before he wrapped his arms around you so his back was facing Vanya, using his own body as a shield to protect you as Vanya's eyes moved to the fruit basket that was standing in the middle of the table making it explode causing everyone to get fruit on their face and clothes. Except for you and Five 'cause while Five was holding you, you managed to create a small red energy shield force field around you and Five which Reginald notice while he also notice how protective Five was of you.

Everyone let out a sigh as they started wiping the fruit from their clothes and face while Reginald started cleaning his monocle.

"This is my favorite shirt. Wow" Klaus said "Oops" Vanya said with a smile "That's impressive" Luther said while Allison grabbed her glass, switching the small umbrella out with another one.

The red energy shield around you and Five disappeared and Five pulled away before he put his hands on her shoulders "You okay?" he asked as his eyes scanned you for a moment, making sure that there was no damaged, his finger skimmed over your cheek "I'm okay, you didn't have to do that" you said "I know" he said "Why did you do it?" you asked "'Cause I couldn't risk losing you" he said before he sat back down on his chair.

"Look, we know that you're involved in a plot to assassinate the president" Diego said as he stood up, putting his hands on the table "You were recently hospitalized, isn't that correct? You still appear to be suffering from delusions of grandeur and acute paranoia" Reginald said "Am I?" Diego asked before he pulled out the picture they saw on the the tape on the day the president got shot.

"Explain this" he said as he put the picture on the table before pointing at it "That's you. That's two days from now, on the grassy knoll at the exact spot the president's gonna get shot" he said and Reginald picked up the picture to examined it before he looked back at Diego.

"Well...I supposed you've solved it" he said before he handed the picture back to Diego "You've single-handedly unearthed my nefarious plot" he said causing Diego to crack a small smile.

"Is that what you want to hear?" Reginald asked and Diego's face dropped "You fancy yourself a do-gooder? The last good man who will save us from our descent into corruption and conspiracy? This is a fantastic delusion. The sad reality is that you're a desperate man, tragically unaware of his own insignificance, desperately clinging to his own ineffectual reasoning" Reginald said causing Diego to sit down slowly "More succinctly, a man in over his head" Reginald said "You're wr...wrong" Diego said stuttering and everyone was quiet as you all look sad.

Poor Diego, Reginald had just humiliated him.
