CHAPTER THIRTY-THREE: THE DANCE AND THE GALA

You, Amy, Five, Diego and Lila was bending down with your backs up against a small brick wall.

Diego was in a black suit with a brown and black tie while Lila was in a light blue dress while Amy were in a thin dress and Five was still in his umbrella uniform.

Diego glanced over the wall quickly, seeing that no one was looking their direction.

He then put his hands on the wall and climbed over it before he crouched down next to a parked car. Lila and Amy climbed over the wall quickly before doing the same.

You and Five looked at each other before you both jumped over.

The five of you was all hiding behind the parked car, bending down as you looked at the building where the Gala was being held.

"So, what's the plan?" Lila asked "We infiltrate, we identify, we extract. Double time" Diego said looking at you and the others before he looked back at the building.

Lila turned to Five "What the hell is he talking about?" she asked "Find the old man and get out fast" Five answered and Diego turned to look at Five "That's what I said" he said before he turned back "On me" he said before running towards another car while you and Amy followed after him.

Lila looked back at Five "After you" she said but he just clenched his jaw and narrowed his eyes at her.

"What, I can't be polite?" she asked "Cut the crap. All right? My dimwitted brother might buy your bullshit, but I don't trust you for a second and I don't know what you are up to but you leave Nat alone, understood, and if you touch one hair on my Nat's perfect beautiful head, I will kill you" he threated "Isn't her name Emily?" Lila asked "Just stay away from her" Five said "O ye of little faith" Lila said "Stick it up your ass" Five said, looking at her while he smiled fakely.

Lila smiled before she walked after Diego, Amy and you with Five right behind her.

Slow mariachi music was playing as Diego, Amy and you enter the building with Five and Lila behind you as overlapping chatter was heard.

Five quickly grabbed a glass of champagne from a waiter and took a sip as he looked around "If you want to blend in, a kid drinking champagne isn't exactly the way to do it" you said.

"I don't see Dad anywhere" Diego said "Just keep an eye out for the Majestic Twelve. I got upstairs" Five said before he looked at Diego "Diego, try not to do anything too stupid" he said and Lila chuckled softly.

"But first" Five said before he turned to look at you "What?" you asked "Come with me" he said before he grabbed your hand and lead you just under the stairs where there wasn't any people around.

"What are you doing?" you asked but he didn't answer as he pulled you close, his hand resting on your waist which caused you to blush as he brought your hands up, placing them on his shoulders while his other hand rested on your waist "How did you---?" you asked "I have learn a bit while I was away" he said with a smile.

Looking at his intense eyes makes your heart tumble against your chest.

He held your gaze for a moment longer, and you could feel something unspoken passing between the two of you. His green eyes were mesmerizing, pulling you deeper with each passing second. The way he looked at you, like you were the only person in the room, made your heart race.

"You are better than me. So don't judge me if I fall" you said "Then we will fall together" he joked and you smiled as you both rocked back and forth, your arm around his neck.

"I'm proud that I'm on this dancefloor with you tonight"

A smile appeared on your lips as the two of you were dancing to the music.

Five's lips curved into a small, satisfied smile. Seeing you so happy and excited, despite the chaos that surrounded you all, brought him a sense of relief. He was glad to see that you were getting a moment of joy. With the world on the brink of disaster, at least there was a chance for some normalcy, and he would make sure you had this experience. After all, he had bigger concerns to address. As for now he'd let you enjoy this brief escape before dealing with more pressing issues ahead.

"Thank you for finally but slowly saying that those memories were real" you said as you could feel his hands resting on your waist.

"I don't care if they were traumatic, sad or painful. I think they made me become who I am today. And even so I don't remember most of my life before I landed here. I think I was a badass before this happened" you said "You were. And you still are" he said with a smile before he puts his hands on your hips and you threw your arms around his neck.

"You are not that bad Hargreeves" you said "Either are you Emily" you both chuckled before he puts his hands on your hips and you threw your arms around his neck.

He smirks as his hands glides along the small of your back, drawing lazy circles on your sink, making your body respond to his touch.

Both of you stared at each other as you kept dancing.

You were mesmerized with those beautiful green eyes and you could see that he was tired and he just wanted to get this done so he could live peacefully without any problems.

Five caught your hand when you dropped them to his chest and he stepped to your side as he spun you around while the two of you were dancing to the music.

"You okay?" Five asked as you let out a sigh "It's just, after those nightmares I have with killing those people, I feel like a monster" you said "No, you are not a monster" he said "I feel like it" you said "Hey" he said as he put a finger under your chin before he lifted your head to you were looking at him.

"Don't see yourself like that. I see nothing evil in you. I see beauty, kindness. I see bravery and I see a strong and smart woman" he said as he remove the finger from your chin.

"I'm not perfect Five, we know that" you said "Just so you know, you're perfect in my eyes" he and and your eyes widened before you smiled "I was dying to hear someone say that I didn't need to try so hard to be perfect that I was enough and it was okay" you said and he smiled.

"I'm scared Five" you said as he looked at you "I'm scared of people leaving me" you said "I'm not gonna leave you, or am I gonna give up on you" he said as he look at you "I will do anything I can to protect you, I'm not letting you get hurt again, I promise" he said and you looked at him.

"What's wrong, Five?" you asked him as you both sway to the music in the background, slow dancing together.

"Nothing" he said casually "I'm just...unsure of how much time we have left together" he said, you're suspicious, as if something's off, but you don't press further, as you absentmindedly glide across the floor with your hand in his, all he has in his mind is how many deaths of yours he has to witness before he can live the entirety of a lifetimes together with you.

I live here on my knees as I try to make you see

As you continued to dance, you felt a warmth spreading through you, the kind that made you want to stay in this moment forever. Five's grip on your waist was firm but gentle, grounding you in a way that felt safe and secure. You couldn't remember the last time you felt so at ease, so content.

You stared into his green eyes that were staring right back at yours Y/e/c as you kept dancing.

His eyes never left yours, and you found yourself getting lost in their depths, the world around you both fading away until it was just the two of you, swaying to the music. You didn't want the song to end. The thought of letting go of him, of breaking this connection, made your chest tighten.

"You know" Five's voice broke through your thoughts, soft and steady "I've always been alone. But moments like this....they remind me that maybe, just maybe, it's nice to have someone to share them with"

His words took you by surprise, and you felt warmth bloom in your chest "I'm glad I get to share this moment with you" you softly said.

He smiled, a genuine warm smile that made your heart ship a beat "Me too"

He moved a strand of your hair behind your ear and tilted your head up so you were looking at him

While dancing, Five kept his green eyes on your gentle y/e/c eyes which he had loved since the day he met you.

You think it was weird, he acted like an asshole and a dick to everyone including his siblings but when he was with you, he acts so different, he acted more soft and kind.

Right there even so you have only know him for a short time, you felt like you have know him for longer and you have actually realized that you have falling in love with Five Hargreeves.

You slowly felt yourself leaning in, noticing Five doing the same.

You two stared at each other before stopping. You put your left hand on his chest as he had his arm wrapped around your waist, and you both leaned closer so your faces were inches apart.

It was almost like a magnet was dragging you together. Your noses and chests was touching.
Neither of you knew what to say. Both breathing heavily, sexual tension above all else was high, noses and chest touching. You could both feel each other's warm breath on your faces. It could have been your teenage hormones acting up or your feelings became too much for you to keep bottle in.

The music swelled and for a moment you felt like you were flying. Your faces were close so close that you could feel his breath on your skin, warm and steady. 

"You know, falling in love and open up your heart to someone can sometimes feel scary. But within that fear resides the magic of transforming vulnerability into strength. And when someone makes you feel alive again it's worth the risk. You might never be ready for it, but you might never be ready if you don't take a chance. Because sometimes the best thing in life are worth taking the risk for" you said.

Those words hit him hard and it was like something took control over him.

"It's okay. You don't have to work over time to get people to love you. Love isn't earned, it's giving" you both smiled.

"My whole life changed when I met you, Em. You make me want to enjoy it again. You also gave me hope"

The distance between you seemed to shrink with every second, your bodies moving in perfect harmony. You could see every detail of his face and you found yourself wondering what it would be like to close the gap between the two of you, to press your lips to his.

Fuve thought about it too, he think that this was the perfect moment to have your first kiss.

No one has ever see Five this way, so vulnerable before, he wasn't able to trust anyone with this, not even his own siblings, no one, except you, 'cause everything with you always remained easy. The trust, the love, the vulnerability and feelings were so natural with you and the same went for you.

But before the two of you could connect your lips, you both heard the sound of men murmur indistinctly coming from upstairs causing you both to pull away.

"I will check it out, you stay down here" Five said before he walked up the stairs and as he reach the top he heard voices and footsteps.

He spotted a group of men walked down the hall, he watched them enter a room before they closed the door.

Five looked around to make sure no one was here and as he saw no one was here, he blinked away.

You were sitting over in the corner when Amy came over "You okay?" she asked "I have being better" you said "Talk to me" Amy said as she sat down next to you.

"You wouldn't understand" you said "Try me" she said and you looked at her "I have seeing things the past few months than most people have in a life time, I have just found out you have powers, you and your siblings are from the future, you are a 30-year-old woman stuck in a 16-year-old, so nothing you can say is gonna scare me away" she said.

"I'm scared. I have had nightmares that my powers will go out of hands and I will kill everyone around me included the people I love" you said "That won't happen" she said "How do you know that? Five told me I did it before and it turns out it was real" you said "Yeah, but you were young, and the way Five told the story, it sounded like you did it to protect him and his siblings" she said "I'm still scared" you said "I don't think you are gonna hurt anyone, not anymore" she said "But now with my memories gone, I don't know how to control them" you said "You will get your memories back and then you will learn how to control them again" she said and you looked at her "I believe in youand so does that little guy with the school uniform" she said.

"I think I will find Five, help him" you said "Do that, I will stay here" she said and you nodded before getting up and left.

Five appeared in a closet inside the room where the group have walked in. He leaned forward to look out of the shades of the door.

He could see all the Majestic 12 gathered in a dark room that was dimly lit by a few lamps that were placed around the room.

"The president is continuing to make inquiries into Roswell and the other crash sites, gentleman. And, as you know, we cannot allow him to get his nose into our business. I've confirmed the motorcade will indeed be turning left on Elm Street. We'll have our people in place" a man explained.

"Gentlemen, this plan of yours seems ill-timed" said the man that had his back to the closet, and Five narrowed his eyes as he could recognize the voice, it sound like Reginald "It's going to be a turkey shoot" a man said.

Five moved a bit making a soft clatter causing the man to turn and looked at the closet and Five's eyes widened when he saw it was Reginald, his dad.

"Dad?" Five whispered "Shh" Reginald said to the other men and he grabbed a metal stick from a stand near the fireplace before he slowly wanted towards the closet door.

But before Reginald could stabbed it through the closet, Five blinked away.

Five appeared in the hallway, but as he turned around, he saw one of the Swedes who was wearing the same outfit as a waiter to blend in.

"Shit" Five muttered and the guy grabbed his blazer and pulled him forward before he pushed him against the wall causing him to grunt before the guy shoved him towards another side of the hallway.

But before Five could hit the wall, he blinked away before he appeared behind the guy and kicked him in the leg, causing the guy to fell on his knees.

Five then jumped up on his back trying to snap his neck as he made a straining noise, but the guy lifted his arms behind himself before grabbing Five by the shoulder, leaning forward, swinging Five up and threw him onto the floor causing Five to groan.

The guy lifted his fist to punch Five but he blinked away with a whooshes before he appeared behind the guy.

The guy got up and turned around to look at him and Five clenched his fists, causing energy to sputter as he tried to blink but nothing happen, meaning his powers was failing him again.

"Oh, shit" Five said as the guy began walking towards him before he punched Five in the face.

You walked up the stairs before you turned and your eyes widened when you saw Five getting attack by a guy.

The guy was about to threw a punch at Five, but then your eyes glow red and you raised your arm up, stopping the guy from moving to punch Five.

Five looked at you with a smile before you threw the guy against the wall.

"What the..." you said before you looked down at your hands.

The guy got up before he threw a punch at you causing you to fall to the floor with a grunt.

"Stay away from my woman" Five said as he kicked the guy in the back.

But the guy turned around before he punched Five.

Diego walked upstairs and as soon as he heard Five grunt, he looked to the right and saw him fighting against a guy.

"Five...Talie" Diego said and was about to walk over and help Five, but then a belt was wrapped around his neck causing Diego to let out a gasp as the second Swede pulled him backwards.

Then the third Swede name Axel arrived and he punched Diego in the stomach a few times. But then Diego kicked the guy causing him to stumble backwards, Diego then threw a knife towards him but it miss and hit the shelf next to him.

Then Lila came walking up the stairs and she stopped when she heard both Five and Diego groaning while you were laying on the floor with a bleeding lips as you let out a grunt.

Lila looked to the left and saw Diego fighting against two guys. She was about to walk over and help Diego but stopped when she heard Five groaning and she saw him getting slammed into a wall.

Five groaning and he was getting slammed into a wall.

"Lila" Diego said and she looked at him "Help me! Lila! Help..." he said.

"Protect Number Five at all costs"

Lila grabbed Diego's knife, that was stuck in the shelf before she turned around to ran over to help Five.

Lila kicked off her heels and jumped up on a small table, before she jumped up, grabbing the chandelier that was hanging from the ceiling and kicked the guy before she wrapped her legs around his neck.

Five sat up from the floor and blinked twice to see how skillful Lila fought. He could almost recognize the fighting patterns and skills.

Lila then let go of the chandelier and with her strength she pulled the guy down on the floor.

"You're welcome" Lila said to Five who was narrowing his eyes at her.

Five saw the guy get up and he ran towards him before he push him out of the window.

Five then looked out the window to see Reginald waiting for his car.

You then lifted of one of the swedes which name was Axel up in mid-air with your powers "Leave my family alone" you said as your eyes were glowing red before you with your powers threw him into a wall.

The other swedes which name was Oscar looked at you before he threw a fist at you but you dodged down before you kicked him hard in the face causing him to fall to the floor.

Then Amy came running up and her eyes widened at the sight.

Five then blinked over to you "I've got you" he said before he grabbed you and blink away and Diego saw as Lila grabbed her heels and ran downstairs.

"Well, that it's not a fair fight" Amy said as she saw Oscar getting up.

Diego looked at Axel "Oh, yeah, mofo. It's just you and me. Show me what you got" he said and Axel charged towards Diego.

Oscar grabbed Amy from behind, but she headbutted him causing him to stumble back. Amy then turned around but Oscar threw a punch at her, hitting her in the face causing her to stumble back, she put her finger under her nose before taking it away to look at it and she noticed blood.

"Is that really how you treat a woman? Have your mom taught you nothing?" she asked

Oscar threw a punch at Amy but she dodged it before she threw a punch at him. Oscar threw a punch at her but she made a sweeping kick, and sweep her legs under his causing him to fall to the floor, knocking him out.

Diego was still fighting against Axel.

Axel was strangling Diego but then Amy knocked out Axel with a vase and he felled to the floor.

"You're welcome" she said "I had it under control" Diego said "Yeah, control getting your ass kick" she said.

Then Diego looked at the window and saw Reginald Hargreeves in front of the building with Grace "Dad" Diego said "Let's go" Amy said and they ran downstairs.

"You okay?" Five asked as you leaned your head against his chest, his heart was racing, you could hear it thumping loudly in your ear.

The two pulled away from each other and he wipe the blood off your lips with his hand "Sorry" he said "It's okay" you said and he smiled as he slid a piece of your hair away from your face.

"Is that him?" you asked as you pointed behind Five and he turned around to see his father opening a door to a black limo.

Five took a few steps forward "Tell me about a complicated man, Muse. Tell me how he wandered and lost!" he shouted out in Anicent Greek causing Reginald to look at him as Five continued speaking Anicent Greek to him with his American accent.

Five remember the words, it was the citing from the opening paragraph of the book he had read to them when they were kids.

"Reggie. What are you waiting for?" Grace asked from inside the limo and Reginald looked at her "We need to go" she said and Reginald looked at Five.

He then spotted you standing next to Five and he narrowed his eyes at you for a few seconds before he got into the limo and it drove away.

"What did you just said to him?" you asked "It was the Odyssey, I got his attention" Five replied.

Then Amy, Diego and Lila ran up to you "Was that him?" Diego asked "Yeah" Five said as you all watch the limo drive away.

"You know, I'm starting to get the feeling Dad's avoiding us" Five said "Hate to be the boring one, guys, but, uh, it's time we get the hell out of here" Lila said, rubbing the back of her neck before she walked in front of the four of you.

Five took a step forwards, facing Lila "When you say 'we' who exactly are you referring to?" he asked, leaning forward and Lila turned around to look at him "Not a lot of ambiguity in that sentence" she said "Listen, I don't know who you are or where you came from, but whatever it is, I'd advise you return posthaste" Five said as he glared at her "She's right Five, we need to get out of here" Diego said, stepping forwards.

"I just saved your life, you kinder-shit. If I hadn't stepped in, all that would be left of you is a blazer and some bloody socks" Lila said "And that's the problem. You're too good. You ask too many questions. You know too much. And you fight like you know what you're doing" Five said "He's got a point" Diego said, looking at Lila "So I know how to handle myself, and that makes me the bad guy?" Lila asked before she pointed on Amy "What about Amy, she can fight too, she also know too much and ask too many questions" Lila said "Don't drag me into this, bitch" Amy hissed "What about Emily? None of us knew she could fight like that" Lila said "That's because I know her" Five said in a tone like he was getting sick and tired of repeating that sentence.

"Yeah, Amy can fight, but she don't know too much and she don't ask too many questions. And also she is more trustworthy than you" Five said "I will take that as a complement" Amy said.

"Funny, you're quickly to jump my throat but not your girlfriend?" Lila asked as she pointed at you "You know, Lila, that is very brave of you insulting Nat in front of me" Five hissed "Five, now is not the time" you said.

"Whoever you are, you're in my way. If I see you again, I will kill you" Five said as he was looking at Lila with a threatening look.

Five then glanced over his shoulder, to look at you with only one thing in mind, get you back home so you could rest.

You took a step forward but 'cause of the fight, you were about to fall but Five caught you as he blinked over to you and he hooked his arms around your waist.

"Easy" Five said and you let out a chuckled as you pressed your nose against the side of his face. You could hear his heart thumping rapidly in his chest.

"I'm fine Five, really" you said as you pulled away from him and his hands moved from your waist, before he place his right hand on your cheek and his left hand on your back.

"I'm okay" you said while Five's eyes studied yours, looking for a hint of pain that suggested otherwise, but he couldn't find anything in your Y/e/c that was staring into his green ones "I just lost my footing" you said.

Five then grabbed your hand "Come, let's go" he said before he lead you away, Amy glanced at Lila before she followed after you and Five.

Lila step forwards before she looked back at Diego who was not moving a bit "Diego, we need to go" she said "I was getting my ass handed to me back there. You helped Five, not me or Talie" Diego said, stepping closer to her "Why?" he asked "Because he's a kid and you're a man. Bloody act like one" she said "Why didn't you help Talie?" he asked "Cause she didn't need any help" Lila said "Five would have wanted you to help Talie over himself" he said "Yeah, I was going to help her" Lila said.

"Yeah, but Talie help me, not you and after that you just left and left me to be saved by a kid" Diego said before he walked passed her "Diego, I...I...We shouldn't--" she said but was cut off when Diego stopped before he turned to her "You know what?" he said, stepping closer to her "I'm used to dealing with liars, Lila, but I like it better when I know what they're lying about" Diego said before he turned around and began walking away "Oh, come on, Diego. Really? You're just gonna walk away?" Lila shouted but he ignored her "Diego!" she shouted as he ran away.

"Believing in yourself makes things go better for you"
