CHAPTER THIRTY-ONE: SOUNDS WAVES

"Your value doesn't decrease based on someone's inability to see your worth"

The next morning Elliott woke up and he walked into the living where you were sitting on the couch, drawing on some piece of paper.

"Good morning Emily" he said as he was holding some cereal "Good morning Elliott" you said before he sat down by one of the desk.

"You are up early" a voice said and you turned your head to see Five standing in the doorway that lead to the kitchen, holding a mug of coffee "So are you" you said "Well, couldn't sleep and also as soon as I smell your coffee, I was up" he said "How did you know that it was my coffee?" you asked "'Cause only you make such amazing coffee" he said before he walked over to sit next to you.

"I mean you used to make coffee for me all the time back when were kids" he said "I did?" you asked and he nodded before taking another sip.

"How many cups of coffee have you drink?" you asked "I stop counting after two" he said "Easy on the caffeine, Coffee boy. It will get you all hyper" you said "I can't help it. The way you made coffee is like whoa. It is the best coffee I have ever taste" he said before he took another sip but then you grabbed the mug.

"No more coffee for you right now" you said before putting the mug on your right side, out of Five's reach.

"What have being keeping you up?" you asked "Thinking of ways how the apocalypse will happen and how to find the rest of our siblings. Allison, Klaus and Vanya" Five answered

"Vanya?" you asked and Five looked at you "Do you remember her?" he asked and you shook your head "Her name sound familiar, but no" you said and her let out a sigh.

It pained him that you also have forgotten Vanya, you cared so much about her. She was the one you protected all the time. You always hang out with her while Five and the rest of his siblings were on missions.

"She's my sister and you and her were really closed when you were kids, you were like sisters" he said "So, I have two sisters, Allison and Vanya. And the rest are my brothers?" you asked and he nodded.

You then noticed the umbrella tattoo on his left wrist "Why do you have that tattoo?" you pointed on the tattoo and Five looked at it "I don't know. When we were around 13, Reginald force us to get a tattoo, to show us that we were part of the Umbrella Academy" he explain "So it was like he branded you?" you asked and he nodded "Yeah" he said "So you all have one?" you asked "Except Vanya" he said "Why?" she asked "Because she was ordinary. But it turns out that she has powers like us" Five said and you nodded.

"Why don't I have one?" you asked "'Cause you were not a part of the Umbrella Academy. Reginald told us that and your mom also told Reginald that you were not allow on any missions that the only thing he should do was train you" he said.

"I have a mom?" you asked "Yeah. Her name is Ella. She would drop you off at The Academy around 5:30 in the morning and then picked up later in the evening after work. Everyday from the age of five to 13" he said "What happen after?" you asked and Five looked at you.

He was scared that if he told you everything now, it will be too much for your brain and you freak out or lose control.

"I think it's best I don't tell you, but instead let your memories come back one at the time" he said and you nodded.

"Can I ask you about something?" you asked and he nodded "Anything" he said "You say that you know me, right" you said and he nodded "And that we use to be close" you said and he nodded again.

"Can you tell me about this one" you said before you rolled your sleeve up to your left shoulder "Can you explain this mark?" you asked as you revealed the circle on your left shoulder.

"Yeah, it's a birthmark" he said, not wanted to explain why you had it "So it's just a birthmark?" you asked "Yeah" he said with a nod "Okay" you said before you rolled down your sleeve again. 

"It must be cool. Having siblings who also had powers" you said "Well, it was nice not being alone. Some would say we're lucky, we have a gift that most people would kill for. But I didn't feel lucky and neither did my siblings, well except for a few of us. From the day we learned how to walk, we were trained to be crime stopping heroes. Saving the day like any other superhero, how much I hated those days and the ones that came after them" he let out a sigh. "So your life was not that great?" you asked and he shook his head "Had the worse dad in the world. Never got the chance to life a normal life. Got stuck in the apocalypse for years" he said.

"So care to tell me why you were stuck for 22 years in the apocalypse?" you asked "I'm a stubborn person. When I was 13, I wanted to time travel. I ask my father to practice time traveled, but he told me that I wasn't ready. I got mad and ran out. I jumped forwards to spring, to summer, to winter and then-poof- the apocalypse. And then I saw everyone dead, including my siblings" he said before taking a deep breath.

"I was stuck in the apocalypse for 22 years, gathering scraps and food just to survive, did my best. Fell in love with a mannequin which I named Delores" he said and you let out a small chuckled "Delores was just for emotional support. I was lonely in the apocalypse, needed something to bring comfort" he said "I understand" you said as you looked at him "So you never got to be kid?" you asked "Spent 13 years of my life forced to be a hero and the remaining years to survive a barren Earth with nothing but cockroaches to live off on" he said as he let out a sigh.

"I'm sorry about that" you said "Thanks. But the worst I have seen was your lifeless body and it was so painful" he said as he let out a sigh.

"Then I was found by my former employer name The Handler and I was recruited to a place called The Commission until I left to get back to my family" he said.

"So you lived there for so many years how...." "How am I still a teen?" he asked and you nodded "Well, that lead to the next part of the story" he said before he started explained how he came in contact with The Handler and his work at the Commission. How he became the best and most dangerous assassin. He told you how he had worked hard everyday to get back to his family and save them. How he ended up in his teen body when he used his powers to travel back.

"When I tried to project myself into a suspended quantum state version of myself that exist across every possible instance of time---" "But you couldn't bring your body through the wormhole in the fabric of space-time" you said and he nodded while smiling. He was glad that you were still smart.

"Saving my family and stopping the apocalypse was not the only reason why I left. I also left because I had a feeling that someone was waiting for me and it turns out that I was right. Someone was waiting for me" he said "Who?" you asked "You" he replied and you looked at him "You were that person that were waiting for me, even so both of us didn't knew it" he said as he looked at you.

"I met you at a diner the night I just came back and after seeing what you could do. I invited you to come with me and you did" he said "But if you're saying that we knew each other when we were kids, why didn't we remember each other when you return?" you asked "'Cause my dad made me and the rest of my siblings to forget that we have ever know you and he did the same to you" he explain "Asshole" you said "Yeah" Five said before he took a deep breath.

"But even so we didn't remember each other, we still felt drawn to each other, probably because those feelings, the bond and the connection we had when we were kids, never really disappeared. So we started falling in love and then later you got your memories back and you used your powers making me remember you as well" he said.

"So, even so we had forgotten each other, we still fell in love for the second time?" you asked and he nodded "Yeah" 

"After the both of us have gotten our memories back, did we...?" you asked "No" he said as he shook his head.

'I really wish we had' Five said inside his head which caused you to let out a small smile.

"How close where we?" you asked "Very closed. We were inseparable. Spend all the time we had with each other. Was watching the stars together sometimes. We did almost everything with each other. We have a bond that no one could explain" he said and you looked at him "I can proof it" he said before he took a picture out of his pocket.

"This picture was taking a few days before everything went to shit" he said as he moved the photo closer to you.

The photo showed you and Five together. He had his forehead rested against your cheek. You both had your eyes closed and was both smiling.

Flashback start....

"Look what I found" Five said as he picked up a small camera from a box.

You and Five was in your house and he was helping you pack some things out that your mom had found on the attic. Things she wanted to sell but she wanted you to look through the stuff to see if there was anything she wanted and Five was so lucky that he had the time off that day.

"What is that?" you asked "It's a old camera. Apparently, you take a photo of it, and it comes out on a small piece of film, and slowly the picture appear" Five said before before he walked over to you and brought the camera up to show you how it worked.  

"How do you know how it work?" you asked "My dad has one" he answered as he lowered the camera before taking the film out and showed it to you.

"See" he said and you looked at the film "Oh my god. I look hideous throw it away" you said and Five took the film back before looking at it.

"Nope, I'm gonna keep it" he said and you rolled your eyes.

"Let's take one together" you said "Amazing idea" Five said before he sat down next to you.

You gently rested your head on his chest and smiled as he pointed the camera at the two of you before pressing the button.

A flash of light came out of it, and a piece of film rolled out a second later "Shall we take another one?" he asked and you nodded "Sure, but I want to take it" you said and he nodded as he gave the camera to you.

You smiled at the camera and snapped the picture. But Five wasn't looking at the camera, he was only looking at you.

Flashback ends...

You blinked a few times with your eyes as the memory appeared in your head "Em, you okay?" Five asked and you nodded "Yeah" you said as you looked at him again.

"We look happy" you said "Yeah. And I have a few others in my inner pocket" he said "How?" you asked "Pogo gave them to me after I got my memories back" he replied.

Then suddenly another flash appeared in your mind causing you to shake your head while blinking a few times with your eyes.

"Emily, you okay?" he asked "Yeah, it's just" you said before taking a deep breath "I remember peanut butter and marshmallow sandwiches" you said and his expression changed to happy "You do?" he asked and you nodded "Amy and Elliott think it was weird that I like them" you said "Well, you and I used to make them together" he said "We did?" you asked and he nodded.

"It must have being hard for you, being in the apocalypse and being alone for all those years" you said and he nodded "It was" he said "I don't know if I would have handle that" you said "You would, you are one of the strongest people I know" he said.

"Why did they recruit you? What kind of job was it?" you asked "I was assigned to assassinate anyone who would screw up the timeline" he said and your eyes widened "So you are an assassin?" you asked "Yeah" he said, a little scared that you would be scared of him now.

"Well, you didn't had a choice, did you?" you asked and he shook his head "It was the only way to get back and save the world" he said "Then I understand" you and he looked at you "You do?" he asked "Yeah, it was either that or being stuck forever alone" you said and he nodded "Yeah" he said.

"Did you enjoy it?" you asked "It never gave me pleasure" he said and you raised a brow "No, Em, I never enjoy it" he said and you nodded before you looked down at your drawing.

"Always had a talent for that" he said as he looked at your drawing "Yeah, I don't know, it's just something I have a talent for. It helps me take my mind off things" you said and he let out a small smile as he looked at you.

"Just so you know Emily, I'm gonna help you and I'm always going be here for you" he said and you looked at him "Can I ask you a question?" you asked "Shoot" he said "Those powers I have" you said and he nodded "Have I killed anyone with them?" you asked and he looked at you "No" he lied and you nodded before you went back to your drawing while he kept looking at you.

It is good to see your face again, that made him forget the end of the world, that's how it starts and that's why he lie, he lied to you to keep you, and he hopes you forgive him. You look good and something strange stirs in his stomach. Are you happy here? Do you feel like you belong? He want it to matter, but it doesn't. You belong with your family, you belong with him. 

Nothing overcome his love for his family, but especially for you, his favorite, his confidant, the celestial body that plummets the world into flames. He still taste the ash on his tongue every morning, but looking at the end of days, at you, at your brightness, your eyes, your hands, your mistakes. He can't regret it, the end he is only left with the truth, a world without you is not worth saving.  

Suddenly there was a sound of an alarm buzzing.

"Hey, we got one!" Elliott shouted as he dropped his spoon in his bowl with oatmeal "Hey, one of those machines you asked for is going crazy" he said "Which one?" Five asked as you and him stood up from the couch before stopping behind Elliott "It's the, uh, atmospheric radar" Elliott answered as he was looking at the green radar screen in front of them.

"Good" Five said "I don't get it. What are you tracking?" Elliott asked and turned to look at Five "A hurricane? A storm front?" he asked "Sound waves" Five answered, knowing that it was Vanya.

"Sound waves" Elliott said a little bit confused "Sound waves?" you asked confused and Five took a step back "Wow. What--" Elliott said as Five grabbed your hand and blinked the two of you out of Elliott's apartment.

"Where are you going?" Elliott asked but you and Five were already gone.

You clutched Five's arm as you stumbled a bit as he blinked you two to a cornfield.

"You okay?" Five asked "Yeah, I think it will take me some time to get use to it" you said and he smiled "We used to do it a lot when we were kids. And it only took you four times to get use to it" he said "Well, I don't remember that" you said "Sorry, I thought your body was used to it" he said "Well, I think it is since I haven't throw up yet or feeling dizzy" you said.

"Well, anyway, come on" he said "Who are we looking for?" you asked as you looked around, walking past a part of the field that was a circle and the corn was knock down.

"Our sister, Vanya" he said "How many kids are we?" you asked "Eight" he answered "I have met Diego, and you have told me about Luther. What about the others?" you asked "The other one name is Klaus. He can see and talk to the dead" Five said "And the other?" you asked "Ben. He died at 16" he said "What's his powers" you asked "He can produce tentacles from another dimension from under his skin" he answered and you nodded.

You and Five continued to walk farther into the cornfield while moving the cornstalks out of the way so you could get through.

Then Five almost tripped when the two of you came into a small open area and you let out a small laugh as you saw Five almost tripping and he glanced at you before he let out a softly scoffs "Shut it" he said with a small smile.

Then you spotted Vanya sitting on the ground, hiding in between all the cornstalks, so you and Five walked closer to her before Five moved some of the cornstalks out of the way.

"Hi, Vanya" Five said with a smile as he looked down at her "Who are you?" Vanya asked, slowly getting up "I'm your brother" Five answered "I have a brother?" Vanya asked before she looked at you "Who are you?" she asked "She's your sister. Well adopted. All of us are adopted" Five answered.

"I have siblings?" she asked confused "If it makes you feel better, I didn't know I had seven siblings" you said.

"Look, you can either stay here and wait for the IKEA mafia to come back to kill you, or you can come with us" Five said before he turned around and you follow after him "Wh...Why are they trying to kill me?" Vanya asked as she followed you and Five through the cornfield.

"'Cause you're not supposed to be here, Vanya" Five said as he pushed past some of the cornstalks "In Dallas?" Vanya asked, confused "No. Here, in 1963" Five said.

The three of you walked out to a large opening area in the middle of the cornfield with corn flattened.

You and Five glanced at each other before stopping and turned around when you got few feet into the large circle.

"Holy shit" Vanya said with her eyes widened "Yeah, pretty wild, right?" Five said, looking back on the area before he turned to Vanya "It's good to see your powers are still intact" he said.

"Did those men came after you two too?" Vanya asked "Not me" you said "Maybe it's because they think you're dead" he said "Did they came after you?" Vanya asked as she looked at Five.

"Yeah, they came after me not long after I arrived here. They killed Hazel who was someone that helped me" he said.

The three if you arrived at the nearby diner and you sat down by the counter.

The waitress gave coffee Five while  you and Vanya just got water.

Five looked up from the mug as the waitress stopped pouring the coffee from the pot "Leave the pot, dear" Five said to her and she put the pot in front of Five next to his mug "Thank you" he said as he grabbed the pot before he poured more coffee into his mug before putting the pot down on the counter in front of him.

The waitress turned around "Lippy little shit" she said as she walked away.

When the woman said that, you looked at the woman and your eyes glow red before you moved one of your finger and the woman trip causing her to fell making the customers gasp. The waitress stood up again and looked around on the floor to see what tripped her before she walk to the back.

You turned your head to the left to see Five looking at your with a raise eyebrow "What?" you asked "Why did you do that?" he asked "Did what?" you asked "You tripped her" he said "I didn't do anything. I was just staring at her and then she suddenly fell" you explain.

"Love, you can control anything with your mind and one move of your finger. You tripped her, Darling" he said.

Why isn't it that I don't mind him calling me that?

Why did I just blush when he called me Love and Darling?

"You gonna tell me what the hell's going on?" Vanya asked as she was looking at Five.

"When you were a baby, you were bought by an eccentric billionaire. He raised you in an elite academy with six other siblings with extraordinary powers. But in the year 2019, in order to avoid the apocalypse, we jumped into a vortex and ended up being scattered throughout the timeline in Dallas, Texas" he explain said.

"Where you one of those siblings?" Vanya asked you "Well, in a way. She wasn't adopted by the man that adopted us but she came everyday to train and hang out with us, so she became a part of the family" Five said before he turned his head to look at Vanya.

"Any questions?" he asked "What do you mean 'the apocalypse'?" Vanya asked shakily "I mean the end of the world as you know it" Five said "Yeah, but how?" Vanya asked "You really don't remember anything?" he said

"No, nothing before a month ago" Vanya said "Then what do you remember?" Five asked.

"I landed in, like a...back alley. Got hit by a car. My head was ringing like crazy. I had no idea how I got there, where I came from" Vanya said before she looked back at Five "What causes the apocalypse?" you asked.

"Asteroid impact. The big kaboom ends everything. Just like the one that got the dinosaurs except way worse" he said as he picked up his mug "Bad news is, it followed us here" he said and Vanya looked at him "What do you mean 'followed us'?" she asked and Five looked at her "Eight days from now, the world ends in a nuclear doomsday. It's a different disease, but...same result" he said.

"That can't be right" Vanya said, tilting her head "I saw it. With my own eyes" Five said before he let out a sigh "You were there. Em wasn't" he said and you looked at him.

"Shit" Vanya said, shaking her head "I need to make a phone call" she said before getting up from her seat, walking over to a phone that was on the wall.

"Vanya" Five said "Let her make a call" you said and Five looked at you.

"You okay?" he asked "Yeah, just had a lot to take in these few days" you said.

"It's really nice to see you again. Even so you have no memory of me at all, it's still good to see you, I'm sorry I forgot to tell you back at the apartment. I have never being good with admitting feelings and opening up, but when I am with you, it just easy to let it all out" he said "I wish I did remember you. I'm actually a bit jealous of you 'cause you remember everything and I don't" you said "It's not nice when you're alone with the memories" he said and you looked down.

"Listen Em" Five said as he put his hand on your shoulder "All I have to do is find my siblings and then go back home, 'cause that will prevent the apocalypse" he said before he grabbed your hand and you looked down at your hands that was connected before looking back up at him.

"And hopefully I could get my memories back" you said and he nodded "I'm sorry I can't be at more help" you said.

"Em, you being alive and breathing and close to me is already helping me enough, it's helping me stay focus and it's giving me a reason to fight, okay Love---"

"'Love'?" you asked "What?" he asked "You just called me 'Love', and you called me 'Darling' before" you said and his face turned a bit red "Sorry about that, it's just I think I have called you that nickname I have you for many years now, so I think it was time for another nickname too. Sorry it's---" "No" you said and he looked at you "I like it" you said "Then I want to call you that sometimes if that's alright. I will call you that until the day I die" he said and you raised a brow.

"Did you just try flirting with me? Is that supposed to be romantic?" you asked and he scratched the back of his head, a little embarrassed "I don't know, I suck at flirting since I spent 22 years alone with Delores who was a mannequin" he said and you smiled "I'm not good at it either" you said and he chuckled.

Five then turned around before he walked over to Vanya and ended the call.

"What the hell?" Vanya asked as she was looking at him "We don't have time for this" Five said "That's my friend and you just hung up on" Vanya said "Listen to me" Five said as he grabbed Vanya's shoulders "Those people from the field are coming after us. They are never going to stop. Do you understand me?" he asked softly "We need to stick together, find the others and figure out how to stop doomsday. Whoever this person is, they can't be more important than the end of the world" he said before he removed his hands from her shoulders "We need to go" he said and Vanya place the phone back with a sigh.

"Come on" Five said before he turned around and left the diner.

"Sorry about him, he's a little off edge 'cause I think he is stress. But he has a point. If we are going to understand and stop what is going on, we have to stay together" you said and Vanya looked at you "Remember Vanya, you're not alone. We'll help each other and we also have to stay together, 'cause I think you are stronger together than you are alone" you said.

---

You, Five and Vanya arrived at a fight club and you spotted Luther inside a boxing ring fighting against another huge guy.

The crowd was cheering and shouting as the three of you walked through the crowd before you moved closer to the ring so you could see better.

"I thought Luther had super strength, so why is he getting his ass beaten?" you asked as as you saw Luther getting beating up by the other huge guy.

"Look, he's pummeling him" Vanya said "Hit me again" Luther said to the guy and the guy punched him across the face.

"Again! Hit me!" Luther said "Luther, are you crazy? Just hit him!" Five shouted "Come on, Luther!" Jack shouted "Hit me. I wanna feel pain. I wanna feel all the pain. Give me everything you've got!" Luther said and the guy threw a punch at him so hard that he flew off the ground causing the crowd to be quiet and Vanya's and Five's eyes widened in shock.

Luther landed on his back and the crowd started shouting again before angry shouts was heard.

"Shit. Luther" Five said "Why didn't he fight back?" Vanya asked.

Lila and Diego was laying in bed after they have slept together.

Lila slowly sat up from the bed before taking her clothes on and left slowly, so she didn't woke up Diego.

She walked out of the apartment and into a pet shop. She walked over to some puppies "Hi, little guy" she said to a puppy.

She then walked over to a small fish tank before she dipped her hand down, grabbing a small treasure chest before taking it out.

She opened it to found a golden room key with the number 217 on.

She took the key before walking out of the pet shop.

Lila arrived at the motel before she used the key, opening a door before she enter "I'm late, I know" she said as she enter, looking around.

"All kind of crazy going on outside" she said and she grabbed an envelope before she flopped down on the bed "Hey, can I order room service? I'm starving" she said.

The Handler exited the bathroom as she was brushing her hair "Of course. You deserve it" she said and Lila sat up before she smiled "Thanks, Mum" she said before she got up, walking over to The Handler and kissed her on the cheek.

"Don't be jealous of anyone, don't compete with anyone, just focus on becoming the best version of yourself
