CHAPTER TWELVE: PROBABILITY MAP

You were 13 and you and Luther was training together. It went well for the first few minutes.

But then it was like you lost control, like something took over your body which cause your eyes to glow dark red before you lifted Luther up in the air.

"Natalie" Luther said before he grunt in pain but your eyes kept glowing dark red.

"Nat" Five shouted and you turned around to see Five, Allison, Klaus, Ben and Diego standing with their dad.

"Put him down" Five said and you looked at Five as tears flowed down your cheeks.

Five's expression softened as he stepped forward, ignoring his father's calls.

He walked towards you and held your arm "Hey...it's okay....come on, put him down...." he said, and as you stared into his soft green eyes, you gain back control causing you to put Luther down before falling down on your knees.

Five sat down on his knees in front of you before he hesitated wiped your tears away. He hesitated because he saw your eyes were glowing dark red. He never saw your eyes glow dark red and he had a feeling that it was not good.

"I'm sorry. I'm so sorry" you cried and Five wrapped his arms around you before pulling you close, so your face was buried into his chest "It's okay. I'm here. I'm always going to be here and I'm not going anywhere" he said.

Pogo looked at Reginald who just smiled 'cause he knew what was happening to you. You were getting stronger, your powers were evolving.

Five was walking towards his room when he suddenly heard Klaus "Oh, boy..." he said from inside of his room.

Five looked down to see saw bloody footsteps leading to Klaus' room.

His eyes followed the red stains of blood on the floor to see that they started in the bathroom before going to Klaus' room.

Five put his hands in his pockets before he walked over to the door and knocked on the door "Hey, you okay?" he asked and Klaus turned around to see Five in the door way "Hey. Yeah, I just...Long night" he said and let out a chuckled and Five knew something was wrong, his brother was not himself. He sounded broken.

"More than one, from the looks of it" he said "Yeah" Klaus said as he put on a shirt "Don't remember the dog tags" Five said, looking at the dog tags around Klaus' neck and Klaus let out a grunt "Yeah, they belonged to a friend" he said as you could hear the dog tags jingle and Five leaned his left shoulder against the door frame while he kept his eyes on Klaus.

"How about that new tattoo?" Five asked, looking at the tattoo on Klaus' left shoulder "You know, I don't totally remember even getting it. Like I said, it was a long night" he answered "You did it, didn't you?" Five asked "What are you talking about?" Klaus asked "You know, I can recognize the symptoms, Klaus" Five said as he entered the room.

"Symptoms of what?" Klaus asked as he sat down on the bed "The jet lag. Full body itch. Headache that feels like someone shoved a box of cotton up into your nose and through your brain. You gonna tell me about it?" Five asked "Your pals, when they broke into the house and they couldn't find you, they took me hostage instead" Klaus said "And in return, you stole their brieface" Five said "Yeah" Klaus said and Five let out a chuckled "I thought there was money in it, or I could pawn it, you know, whatever" Klaus said before he let out a sigh "And then I opened it" he said "And the next thing you knew, you were...where? Or should I say when?" Five asked.

"What difference does it make?" Klaus asked "What diff---Uh--- Okay, how long were you gone?" Five asked "Almost a year" Klaus said "A year? Do you know what this mean?" Five asked "Yeah, I'm ten months older now" Klaus said "No, this isn't any sort of joke, Klaus. Hazel and Cha-Cha will do whatever they can to get the briefcase. Where is it now?" Five asked as he looked around the room, trying to spot it.

"Gone. I destroyed it. Poof" Klaus said and Five looked back at him as he made a explosion with his hand "What the hell were you thinking?" Five asked aggressive "What do you care?" Klaus asked "What do I care? I needed it, you moron, so I could get back. I could start over" Five said "Just...Just..." Klaus said, getting up before he walked over to the door "Where are you going?" Five asked "Interrogation's over, just...leave" Klaus said, leaving the room.

Five then walked over to the desk before he grabbed a piece of paper and be began writing a message to Hazel and Cha-Cha saying that he had the brieface and he agree to meet up with them.

You arrived at your house before opened the door to see your mom parking her suitcase.

"Hey mom" you said "Hey Sweetheart, changed your mind?" Ella asked and you shook your head "No" you said as you leaned your back against the wall while you put your arms on cross in front of your chest as you were watching your mom walking back and forth, packing her suitcase.

"When will you be back?" you asked "Early tomorrow morning" Ella answered "Can I ask you something?" you asked "Can't it wait?" Ella asked and you shook your head "No" you said "Alrigth, make it fast, I need to catch a plan in two hours and I need to be out the door in a few minutes" Ella said.

"Why are most of my memories from the age of five to 13 dark?" you asked and your mom froze "Why can't I remember?" you asked and Ella turned around to look at you "Why do you ask?" she asked "I just wonder" you said "Well, when you were 13, you were in an accident, hit your head pretty hard. Were unconscious for three days. And when you woke up, you didn't remember what had happen and many of your memories from the age of five to 13 were gone. The doctor call it amnesia" she explain "I don't remember waking up in a hospital, I woke up at home, in my own bed" you said "That's because I was able to persuade the doctor to take you home" she said "Were there anyone that came to visit me?" you asked and she shook her head "No" she said "Will my memories ever come back" you said "I don't know sweetheart" Ella said.

"I hope not"

"I want to remember" you said "Maybe is not a good idea" she said and you looked at her "Why?" you asked "The doctor told me that it could cause a panic attack and a seizure. You have to wait for another month, just until your mind is healthy again and your whole body is 100% recovered" she lied and you nodded, but then you felt your head became fuzzy and your vision became blurry for a few seconds.

"You okay?" Ella asked "Yeah, I'm fine" you lied before you walked over to your mom, wrapping your arms around her.

You had a feeling that she was hiding something from you and you were gonna figure it out what it was.

Maybe there is a reason why your mom hate Reginald and The Umbrella Academy, so you might find some answered there. But first you need to help Five in saving the world.

"I love you mom. Thank you for everything you have done for me. Have a good trip, see you when you get back" you said as you hugged her tight "I love you too sweetheart" she said as she hugged you too.

You then let out a sob "Is there something wrong?" she asked as pulled away "No. I'm just glad I have a mom like you" you said and she smiled "And I'm glad I have a daughter like you" she said as she slid a piece of your hair away from your face.

You gave her a kiss on the cheek before leaving, going to the Academy 'cause you want to help Five but also because you wanted answers now.

You wanted to know why you keep having memories about someone that look exactly like Five.

You enter the Academy before walking up the stairs to see Luther walking down the hallways "Hey Luther" you said and he turned around "Hey Natalie. What are you doing here?" he asked "I came to help Five" you said "Well, I'm on my way to his room right now" Luther said before the two of you walked towards Five's bedroom.

The sound of chalk tapping was heard as the Five have writing down so many equations, that they almost filled all the walls.

Five was multilingual. He educated himself in the apocalypse. He lived in a library in the apocalypse. He taught himself mathematical and experimental scientific things in regards to time and understanding how his powers work.

"Oh" Five said as he was standing on up on the bed, writing down some equations. "Okay, I think I got something Delores. It's tenuous, but promising" he said as the sound of footsteps approaching was heard and Luther entered the room with you behind him.

"Who are you talking to? What is all this?" Luther asked before looking around at all the equations that was writing all over the walls.

"Woah" you said as you looked around at all the equations "Hey Natalie" Five said with a smile as he took a quick look at you "Glad you're here" he said "What the hell are you doing?" you asked "Equations" he replied

"By the way I saw Klaus on the way here, and he look kinda sad" you said "Yeah, he went back in time, something must have happen to him there. He used a special briefcase dedicated to the Commission and when I ask him where the briefcase was since I could use it. He told me he destroyed it" Five said "I'm sure we will find another way, we always seems to, but no matter what, we can't give up" you smiled which caused Five to smile as well.

For a moment you and Five caught yourself staring at each other's eyes and lips.

But then Luther cleaned his throat which caused you and Five to blink back to reality.

"Well, anyway" Five looked back at the wall.

"I'm making a probability map" he answered he was looking at the equations "Probability of what?" Luther asked as he walked farther into the room while you stayed by the door frame.

"Of whose death could save the world" Five replied as he glanced at Luther before looking back at the equations.

"If I die, can it save the world. I mean you may never know, maybe I'm the cause of the apocalypse" you said and Five turned to look at you before he shook his head "No, you don't cause the apocalypse, Natalie. And I told you already" he said before he looked back at the equations.

"I've narrowed it down to four" Five said, tapping a circled with the chalk "Are you saying one of these four people causes the apocalypse?" Luther asked "No, I'm saying that their death might prevent it" Five said "Oh" Luther said confused while Five continued writing on the wall causing the chalk to start tapping on the blackboard.

Luther then leaned closer "I'm not following" he whispered and Five turned to face Luther.

"Time is fickle, Luther. The slightest alteration in events can lead to massively different outcomes in the time continuum. The butterfly effect. So all I have to do is find the people with the greatest probability of impacting the time line, wherever they may be, and kill them" he explained and he jumped down from the bed before he grabbed a notebook and a pen, writing down the equations while Luther nodded but in a way like he wasn't sure if he understand it or not.

Luther walked closer to the wall and saw a name "Milton Greene. So who's he, a terrorist or something?" he asked as Five was listing down the names on his little notepad.

"I believe he is a gardener" Five said, as he looked back at the wall before he looked back at the notepad, writing it down and Luther snapped his head at him "You can't be serious" he said as Five bend down to grabbed something from under his bed.

"Wait, this is madness, Five--" Luther said but stopped himself when he saw Five grabbing a gun caser from under his bed before putting it on the bed "Wh---Where'd you get that?" Luther asked "In Dad's room. I think he used it so shoot a rhinoceros" Five said as he unzip the case before opening it "It's similar to the model I used at work" he said as he took the rifle out of the case "Nice shoulder fit and highly reliable" he said before he cocked the gun.

"But you can't--This guy Milton is just an innocent man" Luther said in disbelief.

"It's basic math. His death could potentially save the lives of billions. If we did nothing, he'd be dead in four days anyway. The apocalypse won't spare anyone" Five said.

"We don't do this kind of thing" Luther said "We are not doing anything. I am" Five said.

 "I can't let you go and kill innocent people. No matter how many lives you will save" Luther said "Well, good luck stopping me" Five said and he turned around before he looked at you "Are you gonna stop me?" he asked as you were blocking his way.

"It's not the right way Five and you know it" you said "It's the only way. Are you really gonna just sit down and watch the world get destroyed?" he asked "No" you said, shaking your head "But there must be another way, something that doesn't involve killing" you said "A part of me is regretting that I ever took you with me" he said, a little angry and your eyes widened as you were trying to hold back your tears.

Then Luther grabbed Delores' neck before held her out the window which caused Five to immediately turn around, aiming the gun at him while looking through the scope.

"Put...her...down" he threated "Put the gun down. You're not killing anyone. I know she's important to you, so don't make me do this" Luther said and Five let out a scoffs "It's either her or the gun. You decide" Luther said and Five glanced at Delores with his eyes full of worry.

"Alright then" Luther said "For the love of God" you said before your eyes glowed bright red and you caught Delores with your mind as Luther dropped her.

Five put the gun down before he turned to you and a small smile appeared on his face.

You then turned to Five before you with your mind and powers took the gun away from him as well.

With your powers, you gently put Delores down on Five's bed before putting the gun over in a corner.

Your eyes then turned back to normal before you looked at Luther and Five as you put your arms on cross in front of your chest.

"You boys done? 'Cause I can do this all day, but we don't have time for this" you said before you looked at Five "Five, I know you're a good person. But killing innocent people won't do any good. Beside the equations can be wrong, you told me that you ended in your younger body becaue you got the equations wrong, what if you got it wrong again" you said before you took a step closer to Five "We can help you Five, I was shot for you. I got injured for you 'cause I want to help you, don't shut people out that want to help you. You're not on your own anymore Five. Your family is here. And even so we have only know each other for a few days, I'm here for you" you said and Five looked at you before he smiled which caused a smile to appear on your face.

"Sorry about before" he said "It's okay" you said.

"Natalie is right. You wouldn't have risked everything coming back here to save us all if you weren't a good person" Luther said and you looked at him "And you. How dare you take a hostage of something that Five is emotionally attached to just to stop him. Five told me that the only thing he had in the apocalypse was that mannequin and I understand him. I would have done the same if I were in his shoes. Beside while I was recovering I used to talk to myself and my teddy bear because I didn't had anyone to talk to other than my mom, but she was working most of the time. So don't ever do that again" you said and Luther looked down while Five let out a small smile again.

But then he looked at Luther "I'm still going to kill those people" he said as he grab the rifle again.

"That is enough" Luther said before he suddenly grab you "Sorry" he whispered before holding you out of the window.

 Five to immediately spun around, aiming the gun at Luther while looking through the scope.

"Put...her...down" he hissed "Do you mean that?" Luther asked "Of course. Put her down, now" Five hissed.

When you saw how fast Five reacted when Luther grab you, you swore you felt your heart skip a beat. That's when you realized that Five did care for you.

"Really, Luther. This is fuck up" you hissed at Luther as he was holding you. "It's not like this drop will kill you" he said.

He was right, it was not a long drop, maybe the second or third floor, but you could get hurt really badly if he let go of you.

"If I let her go, you have to put down the gun and promise that you are not going to kill anyone" Luther said and Five glanced at Luther with a killer look.

"I know she is important to you, so don't make me do this" Luther said and Five let out a scoff "It's either her or the gun. You decide" Luther said and Five hesitated for a second as he glanced at you with his eyes full of worry.

"Fine then" Luther then let go of you which caused Five to drop the rifle before blinking over to you and just reach to grab your wrist in time.

"Got you Natalie" he whispered in your ear softly before he pulled you in.

"You okay?" he scanned you up and down and you nodded before you glanced at Luther "Asshole" you whispered.

"Like I said before, I can keep doing this all day" Luther said "You're not using me for that again" you said "I wouldn't let him" Five said.

"I know you're a good person, otherwise you wouldn't just have saved Natalie or risk everything to come back here to us, but like I said before, you are not alone, you have us now" Luther said "He is right. You are not alone" Five looked at you "You have people that want to help you, don't push those away that want to help you" you said.

"There is one way. But it's just about impossible" Five said "More impossible than what brought you back here?" Luther asked and Five looked at him.

You, Luther and Five quickly found a briefcase that looks like the time travel ones, before you put metal stuff in it, so Cha-Cha and Hazel would think it was real.

The three of you then left the Academy.

You were 13 and you and Five was in his room. You have lied to your mom, saying that you were tired and went to bed early since Five have told you that his dad was on a business trip for the rest of the day, so he had invited you to his room.

Five was sitting on his bed and he had his back leaned against the wall, his legs was stretched while his feet was cross. 

Your back were laying on his lap as both of you were reading a comic each.

"This is nice" you said "Yeah. Some peace and quiet" Five said as he flipped on to the next page of the comic "I'm glad you invited me to your room" you said "I just missed some alone time with you since we can't get any of that anymore" he said "Are you sure that your dad wouldn't notice anything?" you asked "I'm sure, he left for business and wouldn't come home before tomorrow" he said "I told my mom that I was tired and went to bed early" you said "She bought that?" he asked "I sold that" you said and he chuckled.

"I hope your siblings don't busted through the door and are thinking wrong" you said "If they do that, I'm gonna punch them" he said and you chuckled before you two continue reading the comic. 

After a minute, Five closed the comic before he threw it to the side "Done already?" you asked "No, it's just" he said before he took a deep breath "I'm thinking about time travel" he said and you closed your comic before looking at him.

"Why?" you asked "'Cause I know that my powers can more than my dad say and I'm ready" he said "Five, think about it. It can be dangerous" you said "I know, but I'm not scared" he said before he look down at you "And I want you to come with me" he said "What?" you asked "I want you to come with me on my time travel" he said and you lifted up your body so you were sitting next to him.

"Are you sure that is a good idea?" you asked "I want to do this with you. So what do you say Nat?" he asked and you nodded "I would love that" you said and he smiled "When?" you asked "I was thinking about doing it next week" he said "Then let's do it" you said "It's gonna be so much fun, you and I, time travel together" he said and you nodded "The witch and the time traveler" you said "You are not a witch" he said as he looked at you.

"When and how are we doing it?" you asked "I will tell you by the end of this week. I think my plan is to pick you at your house and then we are leaving" he said "I can't wait. There is so many places I want to see" you said "And I will make sure you see them all" he said and you let out a giggled.

He then put his left hand on your right cheek and you both smiled as you leaned closer to each other.

But when your lips were inches from each other the door was busted opened.

"Number Five" an angry voice said and the two of you looked towards the door to see a very angry Reginald Hargreeves.

"Shit" Five said "What is going on here?" Reginald said angry "Dad, please" Five said but Reginald walked over before he grabbed your arm and pulled you with him "DAD" Five said as he followed after his dad.

Reginald dragged you all the way downstairs while Five was walking behind, trying to get his dad to let go of you.

"You weren't more allow here" Reginald said as he walked into the living you before he pushed so hard that you fell on the couch.

"What the hell do you think your doing, you little brat" Reginald said out loud before he walked closer to you but then Five blinked in between you and his dad "Stop dad" he said "Get out of the way, Number Five" Reginald said "No" Five shook his head.

"I told you that you weren't allow to see Natalie again and what do you do, you went against my orders" Reginald said angry "Please Dad, take this out on me, be mad at me, but please don't blame Nat. I invited her here, it was my idea to see her again. So don't hurt her please. Take this out on me, be mad at me, punish me, just don't hurt Nat or blame her. She has nothing to do with this, it was my fault not hers" Five said as he was defending you.

"I'm so disappoint in you. You are gonna get punish, dobbelt chores and training to you" Reginald said before he looked at you who was sitting on the couch, scared "You two stay here and you don't move a muscle. I'm gonna call Miss Eversun" he said before he turned around and walked out of the living room.

You hugged your knees as you started crying and Five sat down next to you on the couch before he wrapped his arms around you, pulling you closer.

"I'm so sorry, it's my fault" he said "No, it's not. We should have realized that we couldn't keep going" you sob.

"Once in a lifetime maybe you meet someone who is instantly different from everyone else, whatever level it might be, the two of you belong together as just friends or something entirely different"
