CHAPTER ONE: LIVE MY LIFE AGAIN

"Nietzsche once said 'Man is as a rope stretched between the animal and the superhuman. A rope over an abyss. It is a dangerous crossing, a dangerous looking-back, a dangerous trembling and halting'" a man with a moustache and a monocle, read from his book. He was standing on a top of the staircase with his notebook. A young girl was standing next to him, she had a clipboard in one hand, a stopwatch in the other and a whistle around her neck.

You were 13 years old and you and six other kids your age were all standing at the button of the staircase. You were all wearing the same shirt. It was a green tracksuit with white trainers.

This was a race up the stairs and you or the six other kids wanted to be the last.

The man closed the book and the girl blow the whistle making you and the other kids to start running up the stairs.

"As much as you must strive for individual greatness, and strive you must, for it won't come to you of its own accord...you must also remember that there is no individual stronger than the collective" the man said as the kids ran up the stairs.

Two of the boys took the lead, behind them was a boy with short dark brown hair that almost looked black and he had green eyes. 

You were running as the last, falling a little bit behind.

Then the boy with the dark brown hair blinked in front of the two other boys "That's not fair, Five's cheating!" said one of them.

"Okay, let's play" you said before your eyes glowed red and a reddish glowing mist-like shapes appeared on your hands making red energy appeared around the six other kids causing them to stop running including the boy with the short dark brown hair. 

 You smiled as you used your powers to made yourself fly a little bit up before you landed a little bit up at front, taking the lead.

"Natalie" a girl with black curly hair said "Come on, that's cheating and that's coming from me" the boy who named was Five said "Well, how do you beat a cheater, you cheat the cheater" you said with a laugh.

Once you were a few feet ahead of them, you let go of the six kids and they all started racing to the stop.

 "Tilly and Five is cheating" one the boys said "Romeo and Juliet are cheating" one of the other boys said "They adapted" the man said.

'I will never forget you Nat. I will always be here for you, I will never leave you and I will never see you as a freak or a monster'

You opened your eyes to the sun shining into your room. 

You squeezed your eyes a bit to get them use to the bright light before you opened them again as you sat up while rubbing your eyes.

You stretched your arms out to the side before pulling the sheet of your body as you got out of the bed.

You quickly changed clothes before putting your hair up in a ponytail and left the bedroom.

"Goodmorning Sweetheart" your mom Ella said as she was sitting by the table in the kitchen "Hey mom" you said before you gave your mom a quick kiss on the cheek.

"Shall I made you some food, maybe your favorite snacks?" Ella asked and was about to get up "No mom, I got it" you said "Are you sure?" Ella asked "I'm sure" you said before you walked over to the shelves.

"Why didn't you wake up, it's already 12?" you asked as you grabbed some bread and a cutting board.

Every since you woke up from the coma, you have being living with your mom in your childhood home since the doctor told you that you needed rest and recovering and even so you had your own apartment, you didn't live with anyone, and the doctor told you that while recovering you should be living with someone since you could faint or had some other side affect that could be dangerous if you were alone.  

The doctor told you that one of the side affect could be version suddenly being blurry, headache, dizzy and losing consciousness and since you were living alone, it could be dangerous since you could suddenly faint and hit your head and if your head gets damages, you can lose your memories completely if it don't get treatment. 

So Ella had suggested that you came back home to live with her so she could take care of you while you were recovering.

In the first month you wasn't allow out of the house since the doctors told you that you needed to take it slowly since your body and mind had to get use to be awake. So your mom took her job home so she could take care of you. 

You spend most of your time in your bed, sleeping, since the doctor told you that you needed a lot of rest.

You hated staying in bed all day but you didn't had a choice and when you were finally allow to get out of bed, you spend a lot of time in your room, reading, studying and drawing. And when you were finally allow to go outside, you were beyond happy.

Of course you had to get used to being in your 16-year-old body even so your consciousness is 29. You never understood why you were put in your younger body but your mom told you that it was to save your life. 

You are happy that you could now finally get your life back but the doctor told you to be careful and you should not stress yourself and you should be careful in not damaged your head or brain caused you if get too stress or your head or brain get damaged it could cause your head to be fuzzy, vision blurry which will later turn into memory lose and if you don't get treatment or get hit again not long after, it will cause amnesia.

The doctors also told you to be careful in using the full strength and too much of your powers 'cause if you ends up in a coma again, you might never wake up.

So Ella had always being around you all the time. Driving you everywhere, picking you up, always being right next to you, helping you with everything so you don't overwork yourself.

"'Cause I think you deserve to sleep. The doctors told you that you need rest and a lot of it" Ella said "Mom, it's six months since I woke up, I don't need rest" you said before you grabbed the marshmallow on the shelf for your sandwich.

"Have you taking your pills today?" Ella asked "I will do it right now" you said before you pulled up a small container filled with small white pills. 

You took one out before putting the rest in your pocket. You grabbed a glass of water, putting the pill in your mouth before you used the water to help swallow it.

Those pills was something that the doctor gave you, they like kept your mind straight and they make sure you don't get too many headaches or get too dizzy, it was important that you took them, since they were helping you recover.

You have being taking three at day, one in the morning, one in the afternoon and one in the evening before bed. And you have being taking them every since you woke up, and in a month you didn't need to take them anymore. The pills also help you with your anxiety and your panic attack that you could get sometimes.

"Did you sleep well?" Ella asked "Yeah, I slept fine" you said as you opened the refrigerator to get the peanut butter before walking back to the cutting board.

"It's funny, after so many years, you still love those peanut butter and marshmallow sandwiches. I never understand why. But you have loved them since you were five years old" Ella said "Well, it's actually funny, I don't remember why I started liking them, maybe when I was little I wanted to try something new and made this sandwich" you said as you closed the sandwich before you walked over to sit next to your mom.

"There is still some coffee left" Ella said "Black?" you asked "Just as you always like it which I never understand either" Ella said as you poured some coffee in a mug.

"It's funny. I don't really remember much of my life from the age of five to 13. Most of my memories are blank. But sometimes I hear voices and sees faces of seven other kids my age" you said as you took a bite of your sandwich while Ella glanced at you, a little worried "Do you know them?" she asked "No, I don't know. I don't remember. I can't see their faces, it's all blurry. It's probably nothing. The doctor said that there would be side effect after waking up from the coma. So it's probably my mind messing with me" you said and Ella nodded but was still a little worried.

'That's weird, why does she remember them. I told him to made her forget that she ever knew them. Calm down Ella, you're overreacting. As long as she think it's nothing, you got nothing to worry about. It has being over 16 years, so calm down'

"Did you say anything?" you asked as you looked at your mom "I was just wondering what you will be doing today?" Ella asked "I don't know" you said before you picked up the newspaper that was laying on the table.

"Is it March 24th already?" you asked as you looked at the date on the top of the newspaper and Ella nodded "So it's exactly six months since I woke up" you said and Ella nodded again "Time pass by" she said "Yeah" you said before you looked at the front page to see a picture of an older man with a monocle and a moustache, and you read the headline above the picture of the man.

'The City Says Goodbye to Billionaire Reginald Hargreeves'

"Hello little one, my name is Reginald Hargreeves and I'm gonna help you in how to use your powers. Come with me and meet the others" 

"Others, there are others like me?" 

"Of course there is little one. Did you really think you were the only one" 

"Yeah" 

"Well, you aren't. I have seven of them. Of course no one is as special as you, but they are still special. Come meet them" 

"'Reginald Hargreeves'" you read and Ella looked at her "What?" she asked "He's dead" you said "Yeah" Ella said with a small smile.

'Well, there goes the deal, well what the hell. I don't need his money anymore. Maybe it's also for the best. She is safe from him now'

"Do you know him?" you asked "I met him a few times, but that was because of my job" Ella answered before she looked at her daughter "Do you know him?" she asked "Yeah" you said and Ella's eyes widened "You do?" she asked, a little worried "Yeah, I mean everybody knows who he is. Isn't he the eccentric billionaire and adventurer who adopted those Umbrella kids?" you asked and Ella nodded "Yeah, do you remember them?" she asked "Yeah" you said and Ella's eyes widened again "I mean, everyone knows who those Umbrella kids are. I mean even when I was on the other side of the planet studying. I heard about them. Everyone in my boarding school and college talked about them and I know that one of them is a famous actor now" you said and Ella let out a sigh in relief.

"I wonder what happen to that group, why did they broke apart? I mean it must be wonderful having siblings with special powers, not feeling alone or like a freak and a weirdo 'cause you are different from the others, having people around you that are like you" you said with a sigh.

"Sweetheart" Ella said as she put her hand on her daughter's hand "Don't ever see yourself as a monster, or a freak or a weirdo. You're special" she said "Not in the good way, mom" you said and Elle tilted her head "We both know that..." you said before you lifted your left hand up and a small red energy ball appeared on one of your fingers.

"Those powers of mine is dangerous and I will never feel like I belong anywhere because of them" you said as you moved your fingers while the ball was moving from finger to finger "I will never find someone that love me for me. Someone who don't see a freak, a monster or a weirdo" you said and the red energy ball moved down to your palm before you closed your hand making the ball disappear.

"Honey. Look at me" Ella said and you looked at her "You are special. You're a beautiful, strong, brave, smart and amazing woman and one day someone is gonna see that. I mean there was someone who saw that, remember?" Ella said "Yeah and look what happen to them" you said as you looked down "Nattie, what happen to Toby and Sabrina wasn't your fault. That accident wasn't your fault" Ella said.

"We both know that it was no accident, that it was no explosion" you said "Others don't know that and also it's not your fault" Ella said "Yeah it is and maybe you're right. Maybe I should just hide my powers away or just hide myself away" you said "Baby" Ella said as she slid a piece of her daughter's Y/h/c hair away from her face.

"You can never think yourself like that. You will meet people that wouldn't be scared of you, or call you a freak or a weirdo, a monster or a witch. They are gonna be your family and maybe one of those people will be your soulmate and he is gonna love you for who you are, no matter what" Ella said "You really think so?" you asked "Of course. I bet there is a guy out there just waiting for you. You are gonna change him and he is gonna change you and that love you will feel for that guy, it's gonna be so strong that he will be your anchor. You will probably also become his anchor. That love you will feel for that guy it's gonna be so strong that some invisible red thread will connect the two of you, so no matter what happen, the two of you are destined to meet and fall in love. He might need you just as much as you need him" Ella said "Do you really think that?" you asked "Yeah, if two hearts are meant to be together no matter how long it takes, how far they go, how tough is seems, fate will bring them together to share their love forever. So If you're truly meant to be together, life will find a way to make it happen" she said as she put your face in her hands.

"I hope you're right, but what if I hurt him or that family, just like I hurt Toby and Sabrina?" you asked "I know that you're strong enough to hold control. 'Cause what's inside you is strong than your powers. Your heart and mind is strong. You just have to believe in yourself" Ella said "I don't need those people, mom. I have you" you said and Ella smiled "We both know that I wouldn't be here forever" she said and you nodded "But let's hope that is first in 50 years or more" Ella said and you smiled.

"You know what my mom used to say?" Ella asked as she removed her hands from your face "If you believe in yourself, you are halfway there" Ella said "Grandmother Amy used to say that?" you asked "She used to say many good things and I think if she was here, she would say 'Get off your ass and go live your life again, 'cause we only have one life, so we better made the best out of it'" Ella said and you smiled "I know that I have never met her, but I miss her, I didn't even know that you could miss someone you have never met" you said "You can. I mean I never met my dad, but I still miss him" Ella said "I remember how you used to tell me stories about her and I always wish I would I have met her" you said "Well, she would have loved you but she will always be with us. 'Cause the people you love will never really leave us and you can always find them in your heart" Ella said and you smiled.

"You know what" you said "What?" Ella asked "I think I want to go outside. See the town" you said "Shall I drive you?" Ella asked "No, mom. I think it's time for me to live my life again, I have being hiding myself in this house 'cause I have being afraid to go out and meet new people, start a new life 'cause I was scared that my life would repeat itself and I would end up in a coma again or hurt more people with my powers. But I think I'm ready and the doctor told me that after six months I can start living again" you said "Alright Sweetheart, if that's what you want, I wouldn't stop you" Ella said and you smiled as you got up.

"Are you coming later?" Ella asked "No, I think it's time to go back to my apartment" you said "Are you sure?" Ella asked, a little worried "Yeah, I think it's time. I will pack my bags and move back to my apartment" you said.

"Maybe you should get a roommate?" Ella asked "Do you remember what happen, the last time I had a roommate. Beside I think it's time for me to get use to live on my own" you said "Are you sure it's a good idea, remember what the doctor said?" Ella asked "Yeah, I remember. I will be careful" you said "Okay, just promise me you will be careful and be careful you don't hit your head, remember that until next month you can't get too stress otherwise the side affect will return" Ella said "I know and I will" you said "And remember to take your pills, also when your head hurts" she said "I know and I will" you said "And be careful you don't fall and hit your head, remember that if your head or brain get damaged, and you don't treat it, you will get memories lose and it will end with getting amnesia and that's means---" "I wouldn't remember, I know mom and if I keep damaged my head or brain it will end with that I wouldn't even remember my own name. I know mom. I remember everything the doctor said" you said.

"I just think it's a good idea that you get a roommate, or a good friend who can made you feel safe and who is there for you, looking out after you" Ella said "Alright, to get you to calm down, I will start looking for one next week, okay?" you asked as you put your plate and coffee cup in the sink.

"And don't worry I will also be careful with my powers" you said "Well, you can use your powers if you need to, but not too much or--" "I know what will happens. But I know how you handle myself without them. You taught me how to fight, remember?" you asked and Ella nodded "Which I was taught from my mom" she said "Yeah, you taught me some fighting skills and I also know some other fighting skills which I weirdly don't remember how or where I learn them" you said before you looked at your mom.

"Do you need my help with parking?" Ella asked "Yeah that would be nice" you said and Ella smiled before she got up and walked over to the sink, putting her cup and plate in it.

"Let's get started" you said as the two walked back into your bedroom.

Flashback start...

Ella opened the door to her daughter's bedroom and her eyes widened when she saw her three-year-old daughter sitting on the floor with reddish glowing mist-like shapes on her hands and her eyes was glowing a bit bright red while two small dragons toys figures was floating up in the air while they had red energy whisps around them.

"NATALIE" Ella called out and you looked at her causing your eyes to stop glowing and the red around your hands disappeared also making the red energy around the toys to disappear causing them to fall to the floor.

Ella rushed over to her daughter before she crouched down in front of you "Mom, did you see what I just did. I made things fly" you said as Ella picked you up in her arms "I saw sweetheart. How did you do that?" she asked "I don't know. I was playing and I just thought it would be so cool to made my dragons fly and they did" you said before clapping "It was fun" you said before laughing while your mom narrowed her eyes at her daughter.

'Maybe I should run some tests?'

Flashback ends...

Both you and your mom arrived at your apartment, both carrying a box each.

You opened the door with your powers causing your mom to give you a look "What, nobody saw it and I had my hands full, beside that was only a small part" you said and Ella rolled her eyes.

You enter your apartment before you looked around "I have not being here in a long time" you said as you put the box down on a small table "Well, everything is still how you left it. They were gonna put it on the market after you were put in a coma, but I was able to pay them into keeping it" Ella said as she put her box down on the couch. 

"I can't believe that you were able to not make them sell it for over six years" you said "Well, I wanted you to have something to return to" Ella said and you turned around before you wrapped your arms around your mom "Thanks mom" you said "You're welcome sweetheart" Ella said and you pulled away before you looked around again.

"How did you even afford to keep it?" you asked "I used some of the money that I saved" Ella replied "Yeah, I never got to ask you about that. How did you afford to send me off to one of the most expensive boarding schools and how did you afford to put me in the college. I mean when I was a little kid, you had to work two jobs just to made sure that we didn't lose the house?" you asked.

"You sent us money every month" 

"Alright. What else?" 

"You made sure that your kids stay far away from my daughter and I will made sure my daughter stay away from your kids" 

"Don't worry about it Honey. I had my ways" Ella said and you nodded before you turned around "Are you sure that you're okay with me leaving the house again?" you asked and Ella smiled "I am, I have to get use to even so you still look like my little girl, you're not and you're an adult and have to live your own life" Ella said and you smiled.

"Don't worry mom. I will be okay" you said "I know you will Sweetheart" Ella said before she looked around "What's your plan?" she asked "Well, first I wanna unpack and then I will try to look for a job tomorrow. I know that I look like a teenager but I'm smarter than most people so I can probably find a job" you said "Okay, but if you need any help, you tell me and I will help you" Ella said "I know" you said.

"How about dinner?" Ella asked "I will order some or find a diner" you said "Okay" Ella said as she pulled up some money from her wallet before she handed some to her daughter "Here, just to help you get started" she said "Mom, you don't have to" you said "Yes I do. You're my daughter, I will always made sure you have what you need" Ella said and you smiled before you took the money.

"Thanks mom, I love you" you said as you hugged your mom "I love you too, Sweetheart" Ella said.

After your mom left, you started unpacking the four boxes. It was not much, it was just your most important things.

When you opened the second box, you froze a bit when you saw a picture frame with two pictures inside.

It was the same pictures you also had in your inner pocket. 

The picture on the left side was a picture of you, Sabrina and Toby standing in front of your boarding school. It was taking that day you three graduated from the school and you had just found out that you were going to the same college. You were standing in the middle as you had an arm around Toby's and Sabrina's shoulders while you were all smiling.

The picture on the right side was the same, you three were just older and you were standing in front of your college. It was the day you three graduated and it was taking the day before the accident.

You smiled as you look at the picture.

"Don't worry Tilly, we will always be here for you" 

"Yeah, best friends forever. Year by year. Always, no matter what" 

"Don't listen to those idiots, they are only bullying you 'cause they envy you"

"Over what?" 

"That you have such cool powers" 

"You guys have powers too" 

"Not as cool as yours"

"People are only bullying because they have problems themself"

You slid your thumb down the picture.

"Natalie, you have to calm down"

"It's okay, we're here"

"STAY AWAY!"

"We want to help you. Breathe"

"NOOO!" 

You blinked a few times with your eyes, as a tear felled from your eyes "I miss you guys" you whispered before you put the picture on a shelf.

You were so busy with unpacking that you forgot all about the time until you notice that it was dark outside.

"Okay, it's already dark outside. What time is it?" you asked yourself before you lifted your right wrist, looking at the silver and golden wrist watch around your right wrist.

The wrist watch was a gift that your mom got on her sweet 16 from her mother and Ella had now giving the watch to you on your sweet 16. 

"Okay. It's late. I better get something to eat" you said before you walked over to the door, grabbed your keys and jacket before walking out the door, locking it.

Ella was looking at those test she had taking of her daughter, "Shit" she said as she looked at the test result from her daughter's blood.

Then suddenly it knocked on the door and Ella walked over before opened it to reveal Reginald Hargreeves causing Ella's eyes to widened "Hello Miss Eversun" he said "Reginlad" Ella greeted "I take it you know why I'm here" he said "How did you know?" she asked "I know more than you think" he said before he took a deep breath "I need to see her" he said but Ella didn't move.

"Don't forgot what we agree to" he said "I didn't know she would be one of them" Ella said "Of course she would, you could have see it coming" he said and she let out a sigh as she stepped aside and Reginald entered the house "She's sleeping in her bedroom" Ella said as she closed the door after Reginald stepped inside.

Ella lead Reginald to a bedroom before she slowly opened the door to find her daughter fast asleep on the bed.

"Well, she don't look much, but I can feel something very strong and incredibly powerful in her" he said as he slid a finger down your left cheek.

"What's her name?" Reginald asked "Natalie" Ella replied "Beautiful name. Fit perfect for a girl like her" Reginald said.

"Yeah. I ran some test and the results just got back" Ella said "Show me" Reginald said and Ella nodded before the two walked out of the bedroom, closing the door behind them.

Ella showed Reginald the results "Fascinating" he said as he looked at the results "Incredible. It's like nothing I have ever seen" he said.

"It started when she was three and since then her powers had being showed more and more and I think they will become stronger" Ella said "She will become someone very powerful, but only if she is train to control those powers" he said before he looked at her "I need to take her with me now" he said before he walked towards the bedroom but then Ella got in between him and the door to your bedroom "NO" she said and he stopped.

"Do you remember what we agree to?" he asked "I remember it very well. But I have grow to care for her more than I had imagined. I mean, I carried her, give birth to her. Feed her. Changed her. I love her like my own daughter which she is" she said "Listen, Natalie's powers are very strong and they will only become stronger by the years, she is stronger than all my children combined. I need her" he said "For what, your little plan oblivion?" Ella asked and he raised an brow "Yeah, I know the real reason you adopted those kids. Remember I used to work for you. I mean I helped you find those kids which a part of me regrets" she said.

"We agree that if your daughter had powerful abilities which she have, you would give her to me" he said "I know. But I'm changing that agreement now" she said before she took a step closer to him "You can't take her. She is only three" she said "My children were even younger and they are gonna be part of something big" he said "I don't care, you only need seven and you have them, so you don't need my Nattie" she said "Yes I do" Reginald nodded.

"Well, you are not having her. I want to keep taking care of her, keep raising her. I want her to stay with me" she said "You don't even know how to raise a child" he said "Well, one time shall be the first and I have done a fine job so far" she said "I'm ready to pay you" he said "I don't care about your money. I want you out of my life and my daughter's. And I want you to stay away from us" she said and he raised a brow "You will regret it Miss Eversun. The older Natalie gets the stronger she becomes, and you will need my help one day" he said "If I do, then I will come to you, but until then leave" she said as she pointed towards the front door.

Reginald nodded before walking towards the door with Ella behind him.

She opened the door and he walked outside "You will have to make a choice Miss Eversun, was is more important, your happiness or the safety of our daughter and everyone else around her?" Reginald asked before he walked away and Ella closed the door before she leaned her back against it while she ran her fingers through her hair as she let out a sigh.

"Everything around us that we call life, was made up by people that are no smarter than you and you can build your own things, you can build your own life that other people can live in, so build a life, don't live one, build one"
