The Time For Action

Mercy, Alicia, and Jacob tracked the High Court's leader. They needed to know which routes he would take and when. So that's exactly what they all did. They wanted to know when the perfect time for action to take place would happen. They wanted to know and now they do know. Mercy will take action very, very soon.

She will begin their plan when the High Court's leader will be on his way to his home town. That would be the most likely time Mercy will be adopted. It's not a for sure, but when you got a lead you follow it, right? Anyways, he will be heading home soon. This seems to be the best time, but then again, it would and could possibly go a different way.

The plans are simple. As he takes the path home, Mercy will jump in to the picture and attempt to get adopted. Next thing would be to get adopted. After she's adopted she must act like a clingy pet with a desire to be around its owner. Simple, right? Not as simple as it sounds, though. Mercy must act like a true cat.

"You have to get in position now! He will be on the path later on today! You must Hurry!", Alicia yelled quite seriously. Mercy nodded quite hesitantly. "Hurry", Alicia yelled a bit louder.

Mercy ran out the door turning into her cat form. She left Mint with Alicia. Mint seemed to trust her nearly as much as he trusted Mercy. Anyways, back to Mercy. Mercy ran for quite a long time. The path was far, but she had the ability to increase her speed so that's what she did. It seemed shorter than what it really was, but if she weren't a witch it would take about a couple days. Mercy attempted to avoid to take breaks, but she had to do so. Every time she took a break, she panted as if she were running for her life. In some sense, she was. I don't want to explain how so I won't.

Mercy lost track of where she was and where the path was. She believed she strayed way too far. Although, she hadn't. She made it to a road, but she had no idea if it was the right one. She walked from one side of the road to the other not paying attention to her surroundings. As she was wondering whether she failed or not, she heard thumps heading towards her. When she looked up to see what was happening, she saw horses coming to a halt right before they were about to trample her. Mercy's eyes widened in fear.

"What happened? Why'd we stop", a familiar voice asked quite annoyed. Mercy stood there. She was frozen in fear. She didn't realize she would be close to knowing true and painful physical pain really is. "I'm sorry, Sir! There was a cat in the way and I didn't want to possibly kill it", a voice replied quite fearfully. Mercy let a soft meow as she still stood frozen. "Hm...". Someone soon approached Mercy. It was the High Court's leader. Mercy finally snapped out of it. She looked at him still with fear in her eyes. His face soon was filled with pity. Mercy meowed a soft, fearful meow. The High Court's leader then pulled out a peace of meat that was rapped in a lovely linen cloth and gave it to Mercy.

Mercy ate it and when she finished she purred loudly. "Want to come with me", he asked Mercy. Mercy let out a happy meow. "You'll be my pet, but you need a soothing name. I would call you something like 'Precious', but you seem to be more of a 'Duchess", he said kindly and sincerely. Mercy meowed happily indicating she loved the name. It wasn't Duchess Von Fluff, but it was close enough. "Well, Duchess", he said as he picked Mercy up, "you are my pet now and you will live the life of a pampered one".

Mercy rode to a very familiar place. Sadly, it was J'Torno. So his home town was J'Torno, but he wasn't on good terms with it? How does that work? Mercy didn't bother to think this. I think she should've. Mercy purred the whole ride while she sat beside the High Court's leader. "This was a bit easier, yet more fearful, than I thought". This echoed through her mind eventually reminding her of her favorite phrase. Mercy looked around J'Torno remembering that one specific day. She could here the whispers of those cats echoing through her mind.

The carriage Mercy rode soon came to a halt. It stopped in front of a huge, yet humble, house. "Welcome to my home, Duchess", he said calmly. He seemed as if he has had a pet before. Mercy purred in delight. Other carriages soon arrived. The men aboard were of high power. Mercy's heart dropped when she realized who they were. They were the High Court. Maybe they had a meeting soon. "Who's the cat?", one of the men asked. "Her name's Duchess", he replied. "Mark, you got a pet without realizing you might not be able to care for it. Tell me that's not what you did", one of the other men sternly said. "Mark?", Mercy thought, "Oh... that's why Alicia kept stuttering before she mentioned him".

"May I call that cat 'Brat'? I don't like cats and, to be honest, I don't want to call a cat by its given name", another man asked. Mercy glared at him and hissed. The man looked back at Mercy and narrowed his eyes. "You may call her whatever. Just don't abuse Duchess", said Mark a bit annoyed. Mercy turned to Mark and then turned back. "This is worst then being patronized by a mutt!".  She couldn't help but wonder why they were all here. Maybe she came in to the picture just before a meeting. That's a huge possibility, but then again, they could just be hanging out... as friends?
