The Night
Night, the time some kids fear. Bedtime stories of witches, vampires, werewolves, the boogey man, and more revolve around night. Many townsfolk don't want to spend the night in a forest, but others don't care. Mercy is one of those who doesn't care. She's a witch after all. Night is the time she likes to travel the most, but she can't always do so because she's too tired. At night, the werewolves howl a soothing tune from time to time. Mercy let out a long sigh of relief and said, "What a week".
Mercy might not last a whole night, but at least she can make a camp on a trail the High Court is unfamiliar with. For a while now, the werewolf was following. Of course, he has been for a couple days now. "I hope we can meet up with those people I saw earlier. They seemed like fun", Mercy told Mint. "Who?", asked Mint. "Oh, that's right. You see I found a group of people who were being chased. I watched them for a while and decided to secretly help them. That's why I was leaving the werewolf town", explained Mercy.
Mercy was seemingly walking a peaceful path for once, but by now it's obvious such a thing won't happen. The howls in which Mercy enjoyed so much began. Mercy couldn't understand what they were saying, but the nearby werewolf could. "Alert! A girl with blue hair and silver eyes is wanted by our forces! Turn her in and we will reward a high price". The werewolf heard this, but completely ignored the message. Much like how Mercy ignored him.
Mercy could sense the presence of a nearby witch, or possibly warlock. Witches and warlocks aren't always on good terms, but some are. It depends on who they are. Mercy, like usual, didn't care. It could be the witch who taught Mercy how to use her magic and informed her on the different types of beings. Little is known about this witch. She was only known by Mercy. Mercy hadn't seen her for a while and doesn't intend to see her again. That's because the witch told her not to.
Being followed was something Mercy didn't like to happen to her in the night. It's just creepy. Mercy thought, "Stalker. Cats have that as a profession, but mutts who can be noticed! Ha, they can only be noticed". Mercy wasn't so against werewolves. She has lot of friends from the orphanage who are werewolves. She just liked to tease them. Especially to those who tend to annoy her. Mercy walked for hours occasionally thinking about what the werewolf was doing. Mint also questioned this, but never spoke about it since Mercy didn't. Mint understands when she has a plan or doesn't care.
The night was still Mercy's favorite time of the day even though it might be the most annoying. Mercy had traits which made the night her most active time of day. Mercy didn't feel most active at these times since she grew up in a place where day is the most active time. You'd grow accustomed to this if you grew up in the TreeHouse. Mercy liked the fact of having a younger sister. A shame she can't see her often. A huge shame...
It took a while before Mercy decided to camp. She was being cautious about it since the werewolf never strayed far. She and Mint fell asleep quick. Even though Mint is a spirit who tied his soul with Mercy's, he still has to sleep. He regenerates his power when he sleeps which means Mercy's power is just as strong as it can get. She needs Mint. Without him she gets sick faster and gets hurt more easily. Mint doesn't have to sleep everyday, but he does it to keep Mercy strong. The werewolf who followed watched over the two. He didn't want to sleep and lose them, but he didn't want to steal from them right now.
