The Loyal Pet

Mercy is good company even when you don't know who she truly is. Mark really likes to have her as a pet. He probably wouldn't if he knew she was his enemy. Mark bought Mercy many things. He bought her a beautiful silk collar with diamonds embedded in it. He feeds her lots of delicious foods that vary in flavor. He even bought her a cat bed that was extremely expensive. Mercy likes the attention, but she feels she's tampering with feelings that she can break easily. She doesn't want to be a pet if it means she hurts someone's feelings.

"Duchess. I have to go on a journey soon. I'll have to leave you here", Mark sighed. Mercy looked up at him and tilted her head. "I get to stay for a couple extra days, but I will have to go for a long time". Mark was laying on his bed looking up at the ceiling. He had is arm covering his eyes. Mercy went up to him and nudged his hand. She wanted to see if she could possibly cheer him up a slight bit. "I really don't want to leave you here, but sadly, I have to". Mercy walked up to the door and meowed loudly. She wanted him to go outside. That's what he did.

Mark followed Mercy. She took him around the house and even made him go outside. Outside she pranced around and had him chase her. She knows that once he goes she can go inform them about her plans. Although, by the time he leaves, she wants to know if she can help him out with something. It would be good to know that she left him without hurting him. Anyways, Mercy was playing with him the whole day. She was being a loyal pet. She knew being a pet isn't something she would be for long. If she decides to keep that title, nothing will change. She'll still be Mercy the witch.

"Mark. Why are you playing with Brat?", asked Hunter in a rude manner. Hunter was slowly easing up to Mercy. She could tell, but he probably has some history with cats. "Yes, I am playing with my dear Duchess. May I ask you something? What do you have against cats", asked Mark. Hunter stared at the two. Mercy wasn't looking at Hunter instead she was rubbing her head against her paw. "You see. I was an orphan when I was young. I had no one to live with. One day, werewolves approached me and asked if I wanted to live with them. They had huge grudges against cats which I caught on to", Hunter explained. Mercy feels kind of bad now. He should understand that cats can bring the best out of you just as much as a dog can. Mercy abandoned her spot and approached Hunter.

She began to rub her head against Hunters leg. Hunter rolled his eyes, softly patted Mercy's head, and walked off. Hunter is a stubborn one that's for sure. Mercy and Mark continued to play. They hadn't even realized the time until one of the other members told them. It was late at night. Mark went to his room so he could get his rest. Mercy followed, of course. It didn't take long for Mark to sleep. Mercy on the other hand couldn't sleep. She wasn't tired and she was worried she might change back to her original form. Since she couldn't sleep she wondered around the house. She talked with the local mice which everyone thought were eaten. She even went to see if the others were still awake. No one, but Mercy and the mice were. When she grew too tired, she fell asleep on the couch. Another successful night without changing.

When the morning came around, Hunter woke Mercy up. He didn't want her on his furniture. Mercy wanted to hiss, but she wants to make cats look good so she didn't. This time she missed breakfast. She didn't care, though. "Mark!", yelled Hunter, "When will our next meeting begin?". "Now", replied Mark as he walked down the stairs. Hunter nodded and Mercy listened. "I've been wondering. Should I revoke the deal I made with Jacob. I want to keep him as a friend if it isn't too late", began Mark. Mercy looked up at Mark, "He wants to keep him as a friend... well now I know how to help".

The meeting went on for a couple hours before it ended. The only thing they discussed was to see if Mark should revoke his deal. In the end, they don't know what to do. Mercy knows exactly what to do, but she won't say anything till she knows how to help him and until it's the night before he leaves. Luckily, it was tomorrow. Sadly, she doesn't know where he'll go.

Anyways, I'll skip over to the important part. It's just after sundown the next day. Mercy found a way to talk to him without giving herself away. Now all she has to do is talk to him and make sure he doesn't freak out. "Duchess... I have to go tomorrow and I'll have to leave you", Mark said as he stroked Mercy's back. Mercy knew she had to tell him what to do. She bit him. "Ouch! What was that for?!?", he yelled. Mark looked at her wide-eyed. She hadn't bit him before and since she doesn't seem like that kind of pet he didn't expect it. Mercy looked at him with her head tilted.

"Oh shut up. I'm a cat. Besides I needed to tell you something", said Mercy telepathically. Mark fell off his bed. "Great. You freaked out. Anyways, before I can't talk to you through the mind link I set on you I want to tell you something", she began, "I think you should make amends with your friend. I don't think a deal should break a friendship". Mark was speechless. The only thing running through his mind was her speaking. "Oh yeah! Your a great owner. I'm glad you took me in".

"Duchess! How come you haven't talked to me before. Never mind that! You speak... err... telepathically that is", Mark said in amazement. "Don't get too excited. This can't happen often. My goal is to make people happy. I had to become a pet. Your my first owner, though. I've decided you'll be my only owner. I'll help others, but none will be my owner", explained Mercy. Without a word, Mark got up and hugged her. Mercy purred as he held her. "Duchess. I'm sorry I'll go, but visit when you get a chance. You see, since I can't be around I decided I would set you free with your collar on". Mercy really wants to tell him who she truly was, but can't. She pushed him and walked out his room.

"Bye, Mark. Don't miss me too much, but if you wish to then do so. I'm going to go now and help others", purred Mercy. Mark waved her goodbye. She's only leaving now because she needs to get a head start. Mark is obviously going to make amends very soon. She also needs to tell them Marks plans and she needs to let them know he might visit soon to end the deal. Until he does, Mercy will be home with Mint. She will also be bothering Zane. This is good news for all. Mark will possibly get his friend back, Jacob will possibly have this deal put down, and Mercy'll finally be out of cat form for a while.
