The Court

About a week after Mercy's sleepover with Zoe and Alicia, Mercy began to get bored. She has no idea why she gets bored easily, but she does. Nothing fun was happening and Mark noticed. He also realized he needs to go back to work. So he asked Mercy if she wanted to tag along.

"How? I'm your most wanted criminal at the moment, right?", Mercy asked. She was truly confused. Mark obviously hadn't thought too much into how he would answer questions. "Yes you are... but... Duchess isn't...", He sighed. Mercy knew what he was getting at. He wants her to be Duchess. "So are you saying you want me to be Duchess?", Mercy asks. Mark nodded eagerly. Mercy shook her head and Mark nodded. They did this for a long time. "Ugh! Fine! I will be Duchess again! No promises on what I'll do, though!", she yelled as she finally gave in. Mark gave her a wink before he said, "Now be Duchess... you will have to make the journey back though...". Mercy made a soft whimper before she sighed. Last time she had to return home, she had to get a ride from Zane.

Mercy told Mint she would go back to J'Torno... apparently... they haven't left the small cottage Mercy last went to. "But! You can't go without five days warning!", Mint whined. Mercy patted his head and said, "Oh yes I can...". Mint looked up at her and shook his head as his small little mouse face wore a smile. "Now you can choose to stay here or go to the spirit realm", Mercy offered. Mint replied with, "Here". Mercy smiled as she set him on the floor so he can go to wherever he wanted. Mint waved at Mercy before he ran off. "Bye Mint!", Mercy yelled as he ran off.

Moments later, Mercy turned into her cat form and went off with Mark. Yes, it was a short notice trip, but she didn't want to shake her head for the rest of the day. Mark was taking a carriage to J'Torno with Mark. "Is it going to take forever?", Mercy questioned as she laid on her back on the soft seat. Mark shrugged as he poked her little cat nose. She made a soft sneeze and attempted to bite his finger. Mark would occasionally throw small items to get her to chase them, but she "held her ground". Really all she did was wait until he wasn't looking so she could pounce on the item.

"I just remembered something! How am I going to go back home? I mean... You can't just give me a ride back", Mercy questioned. She was perched on the head rest behind Mark. "Zane will pick you up in two days or so", he told her. Mercy slipped off the arm rest and fell onto Mark's lap as he told her the news. "What?!?", she yelled. Mark nodded hesitantly. "Why?", she asked. Mark shrugged not knowing why he asked Zane. He did remember that Zane by a rival in love when it comes down to Mercy, but the way she asks towards him, he can't tell if Zane should be a rival or not.

The rest of the ride was Mercy trying to annoy Mark in any way possible. She couldn't think of any way except one. Yes, she found out what makes Mark mad. "Hey you want to know who I have a crush on?", she asked. Mark's head snapped towards his direction. "I have a crush on this cool guy I met. His name is Andrew. I met him when I barely started my life of crime. I still meet him till today", Mercy lied. Mark turned around a slight bit angray. "Haha. Just kiddin' with you!", Mercy admitted, "I don't even know a guy named Andrew".

When Mark arrived at their meeting place, which this time wasn't in the small cottage, but instead in a mansion-like house. "Mark! You made it safe and sound... Without a guard?", a voice somewhat familiar to Mercy called out. Mercy popped out and was in view. "Oh... You brought another cat", the man sighed. This man was Hunter. Mercy shook her head and meowed. "Same cat as before", Mark informed. Hunter sighed again. Mercy jumped off the ride and ran to Hunter. She circled him leaving him a bit annoyed. She meowed again and put her paw on his foot. Mark went up to Mercy and picked her up. "No Duchess", Mark sternly said. Mercy meowed in response and wiggled as an attempt to get free of his grasp.

When it came down to the meeting, Mercy was set free to do as she pleased as the men had their meeting. "So I completed in allying my friend once again. I am glad I did because I have more friends and a friendship I didn't believe will ever start", Mark started, "So... Status report. Any problems solved?". Hunter shook his head at Mark. Mark looked at the table which had a map laid across it. Mercy, who was trying to get attention, jumped on the table and studied the map. She tilted her head at it. "So is this a battle plan?", Mark asked. "Yes. The witch is the blue marker and the yellow markers are the Eirr kingdom residents of higher power. Mercy nodded and looked at it.

As the men were discussing a battle plan, Mercy was doing her best to annoy Hunter- who was getting quite annoyed. Mercy rubbed against Hunter's leg, which made Mark very jealous and annoyed. Two in one. Two... In... One. She meowed as she continued to rub against Hunter's leg. Giving in, Hunter picked her up and stroked her back. Like a natural cat, she purred as she enjoyed the attention.

After a long time of the men discussing as to how they would capture the witch, who was Mercy, and how they would defeat the Eirr king, Mercy got annoyed. Mercy sat on a bay window hoping they would finally shut up about the topic. So, she secretly used her witch powers to turn the markers into version of chess pieces. The queen of the black chess pieces was Mercy and her chess piece had a witch hat. The king of the black chess pieces was the king of Eirrs. He had cat ears and tails. His knights also had cat ears and tails, but had armor on. The white chess piece were the High Court members. The king was Mark and the rest were his underlings.

Mercy moved the Eirr King and his knights into a specific position. Mercy grabbed her piece and set it at the bay window. Then, she went back to show them how their battle strategy should, would, or could look like. She took three of six pieces and moved them in to the frontlines so they could fight the Eirr Knights. Then she took the remaining three pieces and depicted what looked like sneaking in and facing the king. Mark's piece took on the king as the remaining to fought any guards not fighting with the others. Yes, it is a farfetched plan, but it is better then what they have so far. Mercy picked up her piece and took it to the bay window. There she played with it as if it were a toy. "Some cat", Hunter whispered.

As they discussed whether they should stick with her farfetched, mediocre plan or if they should find a new one. Mercy, annoyed that they were going to discuss the plan again, walked behind Hunter, with her witch chess piece with her, and turned into her normal form. Accidentally, she let the ears and tail stay. She held out the witch piece besides Hunter's face and said, "I think this plan is nice!". Hunter jumped a slight bit and moved away from Mercy.

"Where'd you come from?", he asked. "Somewhere", Mercy responded. Hunter, along with a few others, drew out his weapon and pointed it to Mercy. She raised her hands up in a surrendering pose and said, "Hey. I did nothing wrong! Yet". She had whispered the last part to herself. Hunter was about to strike until he noticed her Eirr features. "Wait a minute... Where's your cat Mark?", Hunter questioned. Mark shrugged not because he didn't know how to answer, but because he didn't want to answer. Hunter sighed as he realized Mercy was Duchess. "You're the cat!", he yelled. Mercy smiled and shook her tail in a taunting manner.

"Maybe... You hate cats. I am kind of a cat... What will you do", Mercy asked. Hunter is now regretting even petting her. He is also wishing Mark never took her in to be his pet. Hunter was about to attack Mercy until he stopped. "MARK! You knew about this didn't you?!?". Hunter yelled. Mark, once again, shrugged. Mercy stuck her tongue out at Hunter. "You like mutts!", she teased. Hunter and Mercy had an argument as to what seemed ages. "She calls all wolves mutts. Her friend is a mutt, her other friend is a mutt. Any wolf is a mutt to her. Whether they are friend or foe", Mark explained.

Seeing as Mercy was on her first day there, she had to "play nice". Two days later, Zane went to pick her up. Not exactly Mercy's wish, but she had to... Or else.

"Carry me!", she demanded. Zane sighed, but did so anyways. Mercy, who was somewhat tired, fell asleep. She didn't sleep long- only a few minutes or so, but they were still a good ways away. Mercy began to wonder why she didn't want to travel with Zane. She as do it a few times before, so what made this time different? Was it because people thought the two liked each other? It wasn't that, but she doesn't know what. When Zane put Mercy down so she could walk, Mercy asked, "Do you hate me?". Zane shook his head and asked why she even asked. "I don't know. Just wanted to know", Mercy replied. Zane looked at Mercy who seemed to be thinking into something very deeply. He poked her and she didn't respond.

She wasn't responding one bit, which worried him. What did he do to get her to snap out of her thoughts? He kissed her. That got her attention. Mercy pushed him away as quick as she could realize what was happening. She blushed madly and turned away. "Sorry. I just needed you to respond", Zane blushed as he realized what he had done. Mercy shook her head and continued to walk. The rest of the journey, the two hadn't talked on bit. Zane stole Mercy's first kiss and had his first as well.

The two kind of enjoyed it, but thought nothing of it.
