Mercy and Mint stopped resting ten hours after confronting the High Court's leader. I would have done the same thing if I met him myself. The next village was the one Mercy was on her way to, but she was so harshly interrupted. This next town was a famous and well respected town. It was third in the power ranks for cities. Mercy knew of the tensions between high court and this town, so she hoped it would be a bit safer. Although she was wrong, for they just recently made up. The High Court offered the city three times the amount of Mercy's bounty if they managed to capture her. This town was known as J'Torno.

     Mercy always had to sneak into J'Torno. She did so through a small abandoned mine she found when she first visited. Mercy could teleport in, but others could see her do so. In J'Torno magic of any kind is a crime. They believe magic weakens one's abilities. Mercy took this abandoned mine as she always did, but Mint felt it wasn't right this time. When Mercy made it to the other side, she couldn't help but hear others talking. "The mine they informed us about should be around here", one voice said. "Why are we helping in finding a witch anyways... she could just be accepted as a part of the system", the other said.

     Mercy understood what this meant. The High Court is in an alliance with J'Torno. Now that she knows this she must act quick. That's when she got an idea. "I could just turn into a cat! No one will know then", she thought. Without hesitation, Mercy transformed into her cat form. She looked beautiful as cat. Her fur was a blackish-blue color, that pretty black color you occasionally see on animals. Her fur shined magnificently. Mercy had white tips on her nose, ears, paws, and tail. On her chest was a diamond-shaped splotch of white.

     "Ah, there it is! See I told you it would be around here and you said it wouldn't. Ha", one of the voices happily said. "Yeah, sure. I guess you were right", the other whispered shamefully. "Is that a cat? What's it doing peeking out of a mine", one asked. Mercy just meowed and crouched as if she were scared. "Poor thing... you lost there", a voice asked. This person was young, he seemed like he wasn't so rich. He had clothes that were in very bad shape. Mercy thought, "Me? Poor thing. I should be saying that to you". The boy reached out carefully to Mercy. Mercy decided to act as if she were startled and ran. They'd buy a lie like that. As the boy were about to grab her, she ran fast and far.

     What would a cat possibly do in a time like this? Why would a stray cat be wondering around? Aren't strays considered rare here? Those are questions Mercy should've thought about! Mercy blindly turned into a cat! She even sent away Mint, she hadn't realized that for a while. She had no collar, which meant a guard can pick her up and take her to a place where a kid can adopt her! Mercy just walked around as a stray cat. No one noticed her, she just wandered as a cat. When a guard walked near Mercy, she only hid.

    Poor, poor Mercy. Acting so senselessly. How shameful. Oh well, back to the story. Mercy was walking as she heard sudden whispers. No body was around, but animals. Other cats approached her with the look of a demon. Mercy just stood there. She only had claws, which she never really needed to defend herself. If she were to fight, she wouldn't even know how. "Well, well, well... I see a new cat walked into MY territory", a cat unhappily said as he approached Mercy. "Your... territory?". Mercy turned at him with her head tilted to the left. "A beauty like you surely should know what I'm talking about", he laughed. Mercy stayed quiet. "Scram. I don't want new cats", he hissed.

    Mercy ran off into a crowd of humans. She knew she couldn't stay a cat forever so she studied a female merchant. "I don't want to be a cat here anymore! Somewhere else, but here", she thought. "I'll change into her!". Mercy finally had a good idea. Go undercover and look like a human! Genius! She changed into the human and decided to leave town. That's the best plan yet.
