Nora's POV

-What?! Are you crazy?!- I heard my mum yelling from the stairs.

-Why not?! I'll control this city!- my dad answered.

-And you'll destroy it like the last one?!-.

It was normal that my mum and dad fought like that.

I used to go ti my room when that happened so I couldn't hear them but that day I decided to go out.

My mum was right, Star City was very good and I wanted to know it more.

Maybe you can find the coffee man.

My consciousness! It likes joking!
I didn't went there to meet that man, I just wanted to visit the city.

-The world is small!- a male voice said behind me.

I turned and in front of me there was Ray.

-Hey!- I said trying to smile.
-I was thinking yesterday... I've never seen you here- he said.

-Yeah, I moved here some days ago-.
-Oh I see- his phone rang -Oh I'm sorry, wait a minute, it's work-.

He talked at his phone for a few minutes and then he sighed finishing the call.

-Is everything ok?- I asked.

-No, my secretary just fired so I have to find a new one- he answered.

Maybe if I had a job I wouldn't had to listen to my parents fighting all day.
-Well... What if I get the job?- I said.
He looked at me, surprised.
-Really?-.

-Yeah, why not? I was looking for a job indeed-.
He smiled.

-Perfect! You start tomorrow! Come with me, I show you your place so you know where to go tomorrow- he said.

So I followed him to a skyscraper and I discovered he was the boss of an important company.

We took a lift and arrived at the last floor: wow, the view was amazing! You could see all the city from there!
Ray opened a glass door: the office was huge and clean, even too much!

-This is your office- he said.
What?
-What? Are you serious?- I said surprised.

-Yes I am. Mine is in the opposite part of the building if you need help-.
Wow, I had no words!

-Ray!- a female vouce said.
We turned: a young beautiful woman was in front of us with an Ipad in her hands.

-Oh Felicity! I'm coming, just a few minutes!- Ray said -She is my new secretary-.

-Hi- the blonde woman said -I'm Felicity-.

-I'm Nora. Nice to meet you!- I said.
-Ok so, you start tomorrow ok? You'll find on your desk what you have to do- Ray said.

-Perfect. Thank you for the job- I said.
He smiled and left.

I don't know why but my instict was saying that woman was his girlfriend.
I left the building and called my mum.

-Hey mum!- I said.

-Nora! Where are you?!- she said worried.

-I'm in city centre. I just found a job- I said.

-Really?! That's great! I told you, you're starting a new life!- she said.

-Yes you were right...-.

I couldn't stop my mind from thinking about Ryan in that moment... But, as my mum said, I was sure that he would have approved what I was doing.

Later, that night...

-Did you heard about that man who has been killed? The one who was running for mayor?- my mum asked my dad at dinner.
-Oh yes, I ordered to kill him-.

I sighed and my mum hit her hands on the table.
-Why?! Why Damian?! Why are ypu doing all of this?!- she said.

-Because you will be the one who will be the mayor!-.

-So you can control the city?!-.
-Exactly!-.

I couldn't listen to them anymore, so I got up and left the room.

-Nora!- my dad yelled.
-Yes dad?- I asked.
He approached me.

-You know you don't have to talk about this with anyone right?-.
I nodded and then runned to my room.

Once I was there I wore my pijamas and grabbed my phone: there was an anonymous message.

A: Hi! I'm Ray, Felicity found your number. I thought that since you are my secretary is good that you have my number and I have yours.

I smiled and saved his number.

N: Yeah you had a good idea! :)

R: Are you having a good evening?

N: My parents are yelling at each other like everyday

R: Oh, that's bad! You need company?

N: Yeah, why not!

So we spent all evening talking and knowing better.

I was so excited to start working with him!
