07: Friend

Fallingwish sat by the camp entrance, staring off into nothingness as she simply waited for time to pass. The sun was beginning to rise, so she wouldn't have to wait much longer. The excitement of the previous day still resided inside of Fallingwish, as every few minutes she had to remind herself again that she was a warrior now, and each time brought a new rush of joy. Now, she could be freer than ever. She could explore on her own, hunt when she wanted to, and join patrols without being bossed around by every other cat. It was a change, but to Fallingwish, that change was the best she could ever wish for.

Yet she hadn't wished for it, it had come to her. Fallingwish still had no idea what she would wish for, yet had decided to wait until the right time. When that time came, she was sure that she would know the answer.

Fallingwish jumped when she felt a tap on her shoulder, and whipped her head around to face Squirreltail. Seeing him next to her, her pelt grew warm. How long was he there?

"Your vigil's over now, Fallingwish. You should get some rest now, and maybe join a patrol later." Squirreltail stated. "There should be an empty nest for you in the warriors den."

"O-okay, Squirreltail. I'll see you later, I guess." Fallingwish said, before quickly heading to the warriors den.

Once inside, she found an empty nest with no cat's scent on it, meaning that it wasn't currently in use. Fallingwish climbed into the nest, realizing how tired she was from her long night without sleep. The tan and white she-cat was called into the land of sleep before her head fully hit the bed of moss of feathers.

Fallingwish slowly blinked open her orange eyes, before sitting up and letting out a yawn as she stretched out her newly energized body. Slowly padding out of the den, it felt strange, like she was on the wrong side of camp. Sleeping in the warriors den would definitely take some getting used to.

Looking up at the sky, Fallingwish realized that it was already sunhigh. Well, then I should go hunting and be somewhat useful to the clan. She thought to herself.

Fallingwish left camp, not caring if any cat saw her leave. She was a warrior now, she was allowed to go out on her own.

Once she got far enough away from the camp, Fallingwish spotted a sparrow perching on a nearby branch. She quietly made her way towards it, careful as to not rustle any leaves. Once she got close enough to her chosen prey, she leapt to the branch the creature was standing on, landing on top of it in the process.

Fallingwish dug her claws into the unfortunate sparrow, and before it could alert any other birds in the surrounding area, she bit down on its neck hard, cracking it, and killing the bird.

The she-cat raised her tail, proud of herself and her catch, though knowing that she probably wouldn't be able to do it again without mistakes.

"Nice catch!" The meow coming from below surprised Fallingwish, and as she looked down, the sight of Frostpaw- the AshClan apprentice- surprised her even more. Fallingwish hadn't realized she had come so close to AshClan territory, but there she was, right by the border.

Fallingwish put down her catch carefully before jumping down from the tree to meet Frostpaw.

"Oh, hey Frostpaw, what're you doing out alone?" Fallingwish asked, slightly confused about the lack of cats with an apprentice.

"I could ask you the same, Fallingpaw." Frostpaw responded, a playful glint in her eyes.

"Actually," the TreeClan warrior started, "it's Fallingwish now!"

Frostpaw's blue eyes widened slightly. "You're a warrior now? That's awesome!"

"Thanks," Fallingwish muttered.

"A-anyways, Fallingwish..." Frostpaw meowed, suddenly becoming nervous. "I was just thinking... I mean, you seemed like a pretty cool cat, and I don't really get along with anyone in AshClan, so... would you want to be... friends?"

Fallingwish felt surprised, but also didn't want to let Frostpaw down. "W-we're in different Clans..." Frostpaw's face fell, so Fallingwish quickly added, "but we could try! You're pretty cool too, Frostpaw."

Frostpaw looked right at Fallingwish with her eyes gleaming. "Really?"

Fallingwish nodded.

"Awesome!" Frostpaw exclaimed, hopping on the spot. "So, do you wanna meet at the gathering clearing tonight?"

"If you don't get us caught." Fallingwish teased.

"Of course I wouldn't! That would be you!" Frostpaw beamed.

"Alright, well, I'll see you there." Fallingwish said.

Frostpaw nodded. "Yeah! See ya Fallingwish!" She then ran off back into AshClan territory.

Fallingwish felt as if she had just made a bad decision, yet didn't feel regret. Frostpaw does seem like a great cat- AshClan isn't all that bad!
