00: Prologue

The she-cat stood, whiskers twitching, as the soft breeze rushed through her delicate tortoiseshell pelt, grazing her whiskers with its gentle force. She was standing in an unfamiliar field of grass, which the half moon above was shining down on, gracing the land with a soft, silvery light. Nothing moved but the air itself, until a familiar meow was heard.

"Hummingbreeze." The she cat turned to face the voice behind her, and was met with a starry, slightly transparent white tom. His orange eyes glowed slightly in the dim lighting, his bright pelt shining in the dark.

Hummingbreeze dipped her head to the ghostly figure, showing her respect. "Whitewhisker. Is there a reason you're meeting me here?" She asked, looking up to meet his calming orange gaze.

Whitewhisker's eyes grew dark, and he nodded. "Yes, TreeClan may be in grave danger." He spoke grimly, an edge of uncertainty gracing his voice.

"Danger?" Hummingbreeze's deep blue eyes went wide as fear began to curl it's deadly claws around her, threatening to rip her in two. "What's going to happen? Is there anything I can do to help?" Her voice shook, revealing her wariness.

Whitewhisker paused, shook his head, and the air grew still. To Hummingbreeze, it was as if the whole world had come to a stop, as she painfully awaited the spirit cat's words.

Finally, he spoke.

"I can't tell you much, but I'll say this;" Whitewhisker paused, inhaling sharply, as his eyes glowed with importance. "When the sky grows dark and patience is lost, birds will clash in a violent struggle. Only peace will come with a single desperate wish. ."

Hummingbreeze felt only confusion at his words, as she flicked her tail in slight annoyance, wishing to know more than what was given. You couldn't be any clearer? Is what she wanted so say, but by now she knew how StarClan was. They spoke in riddles, prophecies, as if it were a puzzle for the clans to solve. Hummingbreeze could only hope she'd understand their strange methods by the time she joined them.

With a nod, Hummingbreeze gazed up at the StarClan cat, and her former mentor. "Thank you, Whitewhisker. I promise, I'll figure it out."

Whitewhisker purred, resting his tail tip on the young she-cat's shoulder. "I know you will, Hummingbreeze. TreeClan is lucky to have a medicine cat like you." He praised, pride in his voice as he touched his muzzle to the tortoiseshell's forehead. "I'm proud to have been your mentor."

At that, Whitewhisker began to fade away. The wind grew strong, messing up Hummingbreeze's fur and sticking her whiskers to her face. Everything was starting to grow dark, the darkness inside the TreeClan medicine cat growing as well. Fear pierced her body, the prophecy eating away at her brain. She didn't know how to help her clan, when the danger would unfold, who the cats would be to carry out the mysterious message. The thoughts clawed and teared at Hummingbreeze's mind, until, at last;

Everything went black.
