Chapter 2

"Where have you been," a feminine voice that I didn't recognize said.

"That's not important. The fact is, he is hunting her like he was hunting Sova," a much more familiar voice said.

I was struggling to breathe a little bit. The fact was I didn't know where I was or who I was with.

"You can't tell Archar or Sova where I am. I have two more that I need to train and I can't do it with their nagging. I believe that he will be hunting them too," the familiar voice said. The sound of panic ebbed off from his voice.

"Okay, who are they and who is she? Does she know who you are?"

"She is Andorea Lifebane, I believe she now goes by Liver. The other two are A teifling named Ivory -I believe that Archar knew her at some point- and a pixie named Nikay Shadow of Ice. I believe at the moment she is living with a silver dragon."

"I make no promises that the others won't learn of this," the feminine voice said.

"Thank you Bashryn! Thank you!"

When I awoke again I was in the forest once again. There was no sign of anyone near me. No footprints or anything. Groaning I sat up and held my head in my hands. Was that a dream? I thought. Hoping that it wasn't I stood up and started walking to my hut. When I glanced up at it I froze. In place of the previously burning hut was now a hut that was punctured trough with ice spikes.

"Well, maybe it wasn't a dream," I said out loud.

"Oh. I guess the dragonborn beat us to hear," a voice behind me stated.

Quickly I spun around to see the bird person who had flown off more than a year ago. They're(her?) eyes sparkled with laughter.

"Who are you," I asked as I slowly started to back up.

"My name is Loven. I believe you have met my sister Lono," they replied.

"Are you who Bashryn and the other voice talked about?"

"Oh, Bashryn," Loven laughed, "Let me ask my sister."

I watched as Loven froze and their eyes glazed over before they practically folded in on themselves and in his place was the girl who had been 'hunting' me.

"I apologize for my brother," she said, "I believe that Bashryn and the dragonborn are not talking about us."

I looked at her confused, "Why don't you say the Dragonborn's name?"

"He is a target. It is easier for us to not say the names. Makes it easier to hunt."

"You've said my name."

"Ah ah ah. No, we haven't. Our targets are a highly viewed family of 17. Reward; 1400 gold pieces. Proof: 17 human livers."

"What about the notes?"

"What notes?"That day was a rough one. The sun was setting by the time I had found a decent place to stay for the rest of my time in town. I had found a good ally next to the market and town hall. I was looking for a semi-clean area to sleep on when I saw a glint. There on the ground next to the town hall was a relatively large shard of glass. I gently picked it up and brought it to my hair. I cut off the hair on the left side of my head and cut off some of the lengths on the right side. I sighed before going to sleep that night.

The next morning I woke up to a figure standing over me. They appeared to be a female with pointy ears, but her skin appeared to be snow white, her hair was the same color, her clothes are dark grey and her eyes are stormy.

"That wasn't much of a chase," she grumbled.

I quickly recognized what she had said and I stood up and booked it. I don't know why she let me go, but I took it. I was mildly surprised at the crowd that was in the market that morning. But I didn't slow down till I was solidly hidden in the crowd, or so I thought.

"You thought that was a good hiding spot? I mean your right in the middle of the market."

I should have turned around and figured out who they were, maybe put up a fight, but I ran. I ran in circles around the market. I passed Mr. Natoshi's shop at least 5 times trying to lose that lady.

"I'll let you live another day just because you are bothering us," She said

That was what caused me to stop and turn around. There in front of me, I watched as her hair vanished and feathers sprouted from her arms and face. Her clothes got absorbed into her and a red bandana appeared over her shoulder. A beak pulled out of her face and suddenly in front of me was an Aracrocra instead of the girl.

The Aracrocra chuckled before saying something that I will never unhear, "You will find someone who will change your viewpoint. Your life will change, but you will never lose us."

Then they (she?) spread their (her?) wings and took off, spooking the people in the market and then they (she?) were gone. I wasn't sure what had just happened, but I took it and ran. My idea was to stay near the village center and beg for food or money to buy food. After a week or so I realized this wasn't going to be easy. All around town, I could see posters with my face on them that said, "Wanted dead or alive Andorea Lifebane. Reward of 2000 gold pieces."

There have been times that I have been asked what my name was, for instance, one day a tiefling with slightly muted dark orange skin, silver eyes, and a stub of a tail walked up to me.

"Bonjour, young girl," their strong accent poking out, "My name is Monique and I was wondering what your name is little girl?"

I couldn't help but be confused. Monique had a bald head and her horns went straight except for the tips, which curl upwards. She wore a well-fitting purple button-down shirt with a black suit over it. Her pants and shoes were also black.

"Liver. My name's Liver," I stated.

"Oh! What an odd name. I'm sure that you were made fun of at school due to it."

I watched as a smile spread across her face. Her smile was slowly getting creepier and creepier so I slowly took a step back as she continued to talk, "You know what Liver, you should come home with me. I'll give you a room and food and safety."

Quickly I turned around and bolted. That day I left the safety of the village. That day I left everything I knew. I was being chased by several people. First, it was the talking shadow with glowing red eyes. Next, it was the strange pure white lady who could change shape. Now it's Monique and her sparkling eyes.

~~~~~1 year later~~~~~
I hadn't felt this much fear since the week that my life had changed. Over the past year, I had learned to hunt what was dangerous and what to avoid. I had been living in the forest due west of the town. I had made a small leaning hut against a cliff face. I had been living here for around a year I would assume. I had seen the leaves turn brown and fall. I had seen the snowfall and melt. I watched as flowers bloomed and grew. It was the longest day of the warmest season when he appeared. I had been out hunting for food and it had admittedly taken me longer than it normally would have due to a lack of animals. When I had returned I was empty-handed except for a small squirrel that could barely feed myself. With a great sigh, I was about to enter my home when I heard two voices arguing.
"She is mine! You will not teach her your ways! You will lead her to her doom," a familiar accented voice yelled out.
"Are you the shadow demon? If not then why do you fight me? Do you work for him," a deeper voice asked, "Are you looking for the end of the universe?"
"The end of the universe? You think you can protect the Universe? What are you? Some sort of protector? A guardian? Or maybe some chosen child from a prophecy that does not exist? Whatever the 'prophecy' stated no longer lives. All those 'Guardians' should be dead by now. They would be over 396 years old. That's not possible unless they're all elves, which they aren't even if the 'prophecy' is true the 'Guardians aren't all elves."
Guardians? I thought. I mean I had heard the stories about the Guardians, but if they were, no one had seen them for years. Honestly, I am pretty sure that they have never set foot in this world. Those who believe in the prophecy believe that there are many worlds and that they are all connected and would be called the universe. I think that at some point there might have been Guardians, but if they did exist, no one has seen them in years.
I turned back into the argument to hear, "Fine, I'll leave she's probably dead anyway."
Panicked I quickly hid in a bush nearby and watched as the teifling that I had hoped to never see again walked out of my house. Monique stopped a couple of strides away from my house before turning around and summoning a small ball of fire in her palm and tossing it at my house. She watched as my hut caught on fire and started to burn. I watched as Monique turned around - a wicked grin on her face - and walked away. Once she was gone I darted from my bush over to my, now burning, home. Taking a deep breath I ran inside to save the other person from the flames.
I figured that if I couldn't save my family from their awful fate then I could try to save this person from the same fate. However, when I stepped into the building I wasn't met with a burning sensation, I was met with a freezing sensation. In front of me was a silver dragonborn breathing on the flames.
"What are you doing," I yelled, "You're gonna die!"
When they hadn't responded I got closer. The flames grew around me as I continued to step closer. Suddenly they turned around, their breath still going, and I was launched.
