Chapter 8
(And this is when I realized, I've almost run out of things to say in the before story author's note.) Enjoy this chapter!

Ryoko had no idea what was going on with Gladion, but she sensed a dark presence within him that shouldn't have been there ever since the accident happened. Now she had confirmed this dark presence.
Being the midnight form of the pokemon Lycanroc, she knew when darkness was in a place that it shouldn't have been.
Ryoko had no clue why Gladion was able to be in (y/n)'s room after being in his coma-like state, but telling (y/n) of her discovery would make the situation worse so she made up her mind to keep silent. She then remembered her responsibility to wake (y/n) from her serene sleeping. She would have to have a talk with the girl.
For now she would simply follow her to the apartment that had been prepared for them. She slightly nudged (y/n) with her snout. When the girl didn't stir, she nudged her again which produced the desired results. (Y/n) woke up but didn't even take notice to the extra blanket that wasn't there the previous day.
"I had the weirdest dream, Ryoko. Gladion was in it. It was so weird," (y/n) said with a yawn as she sat up. Ryoko would have said something to her if there hadn't been a knock at the door followed by the Captain announcing that they had reached Kalos and would be docking soon.
(Y/n) scratched her head a little and hopped out bed. She then walked over to the her luggage. She hadn't bothered to change since yesterday and was perfectly fine with that. It wasn't like she was going anywhere fancy. She pulled out a brush, looked at it briefly, and promptly tossed it aside.
Ryoko watched as (y/n) searched her bags for her trainer bag and hat. Ryoko knew very well that (y/n) was not complete without her trainer bag and hat.
"Okay, Ryoko, Moon, Reiji, we need go check on Gladion before we leave. Come on," she said. She seemed ready to go but she waa forgetting one thing.
"(Y/n), aren't you forgetting something," Ryoko said. (Y/n) tilted her head to the side.
"Forgetting what, Ryoko?" (y/n) asked. It was of no surprise to Ryoko that she didn't notice this one thing she forgot to do.
"Breakfast," Ryoko simply said with a serious look. (Y/n) had a moment of realization that quickly made a pout find it's way to her expression.
"Awww, but can't I eat breakfast after I check on Gladion?" (y/n) whined, clearly eager to leave.
"No because you'll forget." Ryoko often had to remind(y/n) to eat in the morning at she was a little worried about the girl.
"Your not my mother ya know." (Y/n) still pouted as she spoke not wanting to give in to Ryoko's order of sorta.
"And you're not about to starve yourself, now eat." Ryoko said. Her red eyes began to glow more intensely. (Y/n) noticed this and went to her bag a pulled out a malasada. It was one of the few she'd brought with her and even knew how to make them.
"Happy now?" (y/n) said as she ate the malasada. Ryoko said nothing but the glowing in her eyes decreased.
"If it makes you feel any better, I will go and check on him while you eat," Ryoko said. (Y/n) nodded. Ryoko, in response, left the room.
(Y/n) had taught Ryoko how to open doors but made her promise not to display this talent in front of others. She didn't bother to close the door as she swiftly made her way to Gladion's room. She peeked in the door that she'd slightly cracked. Gladion was wide awake and stared at her. The fact that he saw her didn't startle her, but it made her wonder exactly what was going on.
She howled loud enough to get (y/n)'s attention who got the message all too clearly. "Gladion's awake" was the message that was hidden in the howl. (Y/n) bolted to the cracked door and threw it open. There Gladion was, still sitting up in his bed and staring in the direction of the door.
As soon as she saw him, (y/n) let tears rolled down her face and she rushed over to him tackling him in a hug. He hugged her back tightly but said nothing.
"Why? Why did you have to leave?" (y/n) said to him as she cried on his shoulder.
"I didn't leave. I've been here the whole time" he wanted to say, but he was still mute thanks to Necrozma's efforts. The one thing the two of them hadn't expected was Ryoko's response to this.
"(Y/n), he can't talk to you. Something's wrong with him." Gladion's eyes widened for he had heard Ryoko loud and clear just as she had heard him.
"What?" (y/n) asked Ryoko. She wasn't clear on the situation and was very confused at the moment.
"Something is preventing Gladion from speaking to you but I and other pokémon can understand him perfectly well which is why I am surprised you can't understand him too," Ryoko explained. It only made half of sense to (y/n) but all she did was cling to Gladion even more, afraid that he could slip away at any given moment.
"So you know what I did to the boy do you. That's not the least of your worries. Just know that you can't stop me." A sick feeling came over (y/n) as she realized who'd said that.
It was Necrozma. That voice came from somewhere but she didn't know where, but suddenly it all made sense. Gladion had been possessed by Necrozma. That had to have been it. That could explain why Necrozma had disappeared after the flash of light and also why Lusamine had so strongly suggested he be sent to Kanto instead of Kalos with her. But had Lusamine known that he had been possessed by a pokémon?
"Umm...(y/n) Gladion says that you're squeezing him too hard and you'll send him to an early grave if you continue," Ryoko said. Sure enough, Gladion was gasping for air which made (y/n) wonder how he was even able to tell Ryoko anything, but she released him despite the fact. Her attention then focused back onto Necrozma.
"Gladion, is...Necrozma inside of you...like when...you know, your mother?" (y/n) asked him. He gave her a somewhat sad look and nodded. This was all of the confirmation she needed. She decided to forget about Necrozma's presence and focus on how to help Gladion.
"Are you going to go back into a coma again?" she asked. He shrugged his shoulders, letting her know that he didn't know. He then mouthed something and she looked to Ryoko for the translation.
"He said, since when can you understand pokemon." (Y/n) eyes widened and she realized that Gladion, although he was her best friend, hadn't even known about her hidden ability. Probably because she had discovered it while he was gone which also explained the whole Guzzlord incident.
"I um...it's complicated. I don't really know how it works, but we need to get you ready to go. We're going to the pokemon professor's lab. There is one here in Kalos. Can you believe that?" (y/n) rambled on. She was talking to Gladion as if nothing had happened, as if Gladion had never even been in a coma and this made Ryoko wonder how long she could keep up the act.
"Gladion said what if he goes into a coma again" Ryoko stated. That was when (y/n)'s act broke. She looked at Gladion and tears welled up into her eyes.
She was sitting next to him but then she stood and said, "I'll fix him before he does." Her (h/c) hair covered her eyes which hid the fact that they were now glowing with rage. Not even (y/n) herself noticed the glowing in her eyes, but it vanished as soon as it had appeared. "Come on we should go."
(Timeskip brought to you by Ara, the greatest female Elsword character of all)
They were now on their way to Lumiose city where professor Sycamore and (y/n)'s appartment waited. It wouldn't be long since (y/n) had brought her ride pager with her. It worked long distance and she was able to call Mudsdale to help transport them to Lumiose. This earned her several surprised looks but she didn't care.
She was up front and Gladion had to hold on the her in order to stay on which she didn't mind but it seemed to be having some kind of effect on Gladion because his face gained a shade of pink every now and then. She hoped that he didn't have fever because that would be awful considering the condition he was already in.
Moon sat in (y/n)'s lap and enjoyed the scenery. After a good bit of riding, they arrived at one of the many gates and asked for directions to the pokémon research lab.
A random but nice stranger gave them directions and off they went. (Y/n) had let Gladion hold Moon while she went into her bag to retrieve Ryoko and Reiji for professor Sycamore to see.
She had only gotten Ryoko out of her pokéball when a sudden sharp object was placed against her neck. A mysterious person in a trench coat put their gloved hand over (y/n)'s mouth and dragged her away, but Gladion didn't notice until he saw Ryoko run off and (y/n) missing. Ryoko began going down an alley that didn't have very many people in it and saw the figure still dragging a struggling (y/n) away.
