The Nature of Infinity
I paint with colors that aren't there
I dance to the music no one hears
I write with the words no one can read
And I wonder what we know
Years ago, decades, millennia past
We knew the Gods controlled the weather
We knew the Earth was flat
We knew that our planet was the center of the solar system
We knew so many things, so many facts
And I wonder what we know today
What we won't know until we know we didn't know
What we won't know until we question how, we question why we didn't know
What we won't know for years, decades, millennia to come
Have you ever tried to understand infinity?
There's always one more, one higher...and thousands, millions, infinitely more beyond
You can understand that there are infinitely more beyond
But how can that be?
An infinity within an infinity?
If it's within, isn't it smaller?
But how can one be smaller than the other when both are infinite?
You can understand that both are infinite
But you can't understand that both are infinite
Such is the nature of infinity
Of what we know
Of what we can read, what we can hear, what we can see
So I write, and I dance, and I paint
But do I really?
