Chapter 1

The picture in the media section is of Mahogany Elberts.

The Island of Anonymity was, according to the residents of The Callan Diamond, the most horrible place on the Earth. It was supposedly a theatre of darkness where the most uncreative and the rogues and rebels lived. But their theories were not practical, for no one who currently lived in The Callan Diamond had ever been to the Island of Anonymity, besides the crew The Antravilla.

Two phrases were very popular in the Callan Diamond:

'One who visits the Island of Anonymity never returns.'

'Child, go to sleep or you will be thrown into the Island of Anonymity.'

On the second day of every month, The Antravilla would carry about thirty men and women who, according to the High Council of The Callan Diamond, were either rebels OR rogues OR people who had become uncreative in nature and were no longer of any use to them.

The thirty unfortunate passengers on The Antravilla every 2nd day of the month would turn pale on even the thought of looking at The Island of Anonymity.

But, was this stereotype really true?

Absolutely not.

The Island of Anonymity was a wonderful place, bustling with sweet scents, endless chattering and radiance. One could never get bored there. The people were cheerful and friendly, and help was always available.

But every coin has another side.

Although being an amazing place, there were an awful number of dark secrets which brought a bad name to the island. Many old and experienced people said that the Wingwords Writer was brought to the island after her mysterious abduction and was murdered brutally there. But no one was sure about the theory.

Back to the topic of the 2nd day of every month. The islanders eagerly looked forward to this day. The folks who were good at making delicacies were assigned to prepare a feast for the thirty passengers of The Antravilla, the dock was decorated wonderfully, and the island would shine like a diamond, for the old wizard Monchlotte Fosbler would cast one of his amazing spells of spreading diamond glitter on every nook and cranny of the island.

A group of elderly men and women, and a few enthusiastic youngsters and children, called the Welcoming Party, would stand on the dock with garlands of sweet-smelling orchids and mouthwatering snacks in their hands, waiting patiently for the arrival of the Antravilla.

As soon as the ship would come in sight, they all would cheer merrily. And as soon as a sour-faced passenger would set foot on the dock, he would be immediately garlanded and fed a pastry.

He would then be welcomed with sweet words and dragged to the Townhall, where a feast took place on every 2nd day of the month, accompanied by entertainment for the thirty passengers. The same would be done to the rest of the 29 passengers.

One of the frequent members of the Welcoming Party was a girl, about eighteen years of age. Her name was Mahogany Elberts. She lived with her widowed mother, Mrs. Genevieve Elberts in their small farm.

Mahogany was a sturdy girl, with beautiful fiery wavy ginger-red hair and deep red eyes. By nature, she was bold, outgoing, quick of temper, a little clumsy and fun-loving. To explain in simpler terms, she was the life of the party.

Little was known about her past. All that was disclosed to the world was that she came with her mother, as one of the passengers on The Antravilla on the second day of April.

Mrs. Elberts was a stern and unfriendly lady with a rude nature. That was the main reason behind her loneliness. She settled with Mahogany on the far edge of the Pine forest and set a dairy farm there, on her small piece of land. She delivered milk to all the households in The Island of Anonymity.

Our story begins on one particular, normal second day of the month, at the time when Mahogany joins the Welcoming Party, and the Antravilla is is sight.

The sun shone brightly. The Welcoming Party cheered loudly as the Antravilla slowly neared the port. The ladies' faces were plastered with smiles and their hands were occupied with trays full of cakes and desserts.

All but one of the members of the Welcoming Party were happy. And that spoilsport was Mahogany.

She seemed to be in an extremely bad mood, for she was swearing and muttering to herself the whole time.

She was lost in her own thoughts when she was suddenly startled by a loud thundering sound which almost exploded her eardrums.

She turned around, and to her horror, saw the owner of the thundering sound. The volcano had erupted!

"Runnnnnnnnn!" she screamed at the top of her voice.

A cloud of smoke enveloped around the island. The whole island was suddenly dissolved into confusion. People ran towards the ship, hoping to be saves by it. Women ran to their houses to rescue their children. A few lucky families were reunited and were looking for a means of escaping. All the confusion led to a massive stampede. Innocent people were stepped over. Some of them were pushed into the sea. Children were choked. Some were wailing to be rescued. A river of lava was flowing towards the villages.

But where was Mahogany?

Mahogany stood speechless in midst of all the chaos and confusion. Something stirred in her mind.

A memory.

'Three Careers for The Heiress!'

'Three Cheers for The Tiny Wingwords!'

'By the power vested in me by the Almighty, I now name this child-'

'Sleep tight forever, little child!'

'My baby!'
-----

Mahogany was pulled out of her thoughts by a little push and a stamp on her foot.

Mahogany lost her balance and fell from the edge of the dock.

She expected to feel herself hit the cold and salty ocean waters, but she seemed to hit something very strong and hard.

She felt pain in her head. Her vision blurred. The pain became unbearable.

She clapped her hands on the aching spot, and to her horror, saw a hot red liquid- blood.

She lost consciousness and fell into darkness.

Hey everyone!
God, this chapter was really bad. But I can't help it. I am weary and tired.

I am currently studying for my exams, which are starting from next month, which is, TOMORROW!

This idea just hit my head and I couldn't help but write it down.

I hope you don't mind the little detail and lack of dialogues. I will edit it all out as soon as exams get over.

The next chapter's got to be better than this. I promise. Please don't give up on this book.
