As thousands of writers around the world embark on their NaNoWriMo adventure, I'm joining the crowd with a slightly different purpose. You see, I have too many stories already that need editing and writing another one just adds to the pile of drafted but ultimately not quite completed stories.

The reason I want to do this is simple: I want more for these stories than just Wattpad. Take The Descent, for example. It's a story that was born on Wattpad and only exists because of a challenge on Wattpad. However, there are many more adventures for Denton and his buddies, some of which currently reside in my mind, others which need to come out.

Intervention has a similar story. There's at least another two stories there, but before I can go there I need to wrap this one up, clear up some of the plot holes in the story and just in general tidy things up before I keep going.

Hive Island is really just part one of three, where the two remaining parts still need to be written. In the end, they're either three novellas or one combined story with three parts.

My problem is that I like to write. I don't like editing. I don't like polishing. It takes away from my writing. But, at the same time, I recognize that it needs to be done, to bring the story to a natural close.

So for me, this November is not about NaNoWriMo. It's about past NaNoWriMo's, past stories and the future of these stories. I already started this process with Intervention earlier this year. My goal is to continue working on it, reading through each chapter, jotting down what needs to be improved and so on. My aim is to make a long list and then get it rewritten

My ultimate goal is simple: I'd like to get these stories onto Amazon Vella and eventually onto Amazon, one way or another.

That's NaNoWriMo for me this year.
