Chapter Seventeen

CHAPTER SEVENTEEN

The Dramatic Duo

***

I made a promise to myself that I would never go back to Forks... yeah, I am currently breaking that promise.

Jacob drove his motorcycle to the high school, for what I assumed was intimidation purposes, but I refused to get on one of those death machines, and therefore drove my trusty car. I parked it in one of the spots in the parking lot, and when I got out, a lot of people stared at me.

"Nice bike, Black." I teased, sauntering over to where Jake was casually leaning against the vehicle. "There are so many ways you could die on that thing."

"I don't need another safety lecture." He shot back, rolling his eyes and fighting off the grin I saw fighting its way onto his face. "I already know the probability of my bike exploding, you told me this morning."

"It's an important thing to know!" I shot back, crossing my arms over my too-tight black T-Shirt. A group of teenagers passed us, and one girl with particularly large hair gave me a coy smirk. I blushed, averting my gaze as Jake chuckled at my awkwardness. I slapped his arm, rolling my eyes. "Where's Bella? And why do I have to be here?"

"She's in that car," he pointed to a silver Volvo pulling into the parking lot. Edward Cullen caught sight of us, and mumbled something to the girl beside him. "And because coming to Forks is our thing now, remember?"

"Why can't our thing be making pizza, or playing football, or something not physically painful!"

Jacob shushed me as Bella and Edward got out of the car, my nose immediately scrunching up in disgust. Jacob bore a similar expression, but he forced his face to relax when Bella approached us, looking like she didn't take my advice for some iron supplements.

 "I thought you left town."

"Dial down the stalker-ness." I muttered, low enough that Bella couldn't hear. Jacob sent me a glare from the corner of his eye, and I held up my hands in mock-surrender.

"Yeah, to visit my mom." Bella responded, her tone as indifferent as always, like she only has one emotional setting. "Why?"

"He's checking if you're still alive." Edward crossed his arms, glaring at me, although he was talking about Jacob. I mocked his glare, crossing my eyes like an annoying three year old. Jake snorted.

"We're here to warn you," I jumped in, deciding that I have had enough of these guy's dramatic love-triangle, or whatever the hell it was. I took a step forward, brushing past Bella so I could glare down at Edward, only getting more people to stare at us. I lowered my voice, encase one of these humans have super-hearing. "If your kind ever come on our land again-"

"Hey," Bella walked forward, trying to push me back, but only succeeding in straining her frail wrists. "What are you talking about?"

Edward's expression was pained, "Emmett and Paul had a... misunderstanding."

"There's nothing to misunderstand," I shot back, jabbing my finger at his chest, although not wanting to touch him. "You keep your bloodsuckers off of our property."

"What's going on?" Bella asked again, looking around and casting tentative looks at her classmates walking slowly past us. "Edward-"

"She has the right to know," Jacob walked over to us, taking his stance beside me. "She's the one the red head wants."

Bella's eyes widened so wide I thought she was going into cardiac arrest, her voice was high and shaky when she spoke, "Victoria? Why didn't you tell me?"

"I was trying to protect you."

 "By lying to me?"

Bella took a deep breath, holding her hands out in front of her, "Okay, we are going to talk about this-" she threatened, pointing one pale finger at her boyfriend. She rounded on Jake next. "Why haven't you called me back?"

"Oh-" I instantly knew my part in this, and took a nervous step back, "I actually have a pottery class in ten minutes, so I gotta-"

"'Hola, this is Tony, I am probably somewhere reading a book-'"

I winced, raising my hand to my face, as Bella recited the voicemail that Quil and Embry had recorded a few weeks ago. Jake was running out of excuses, so I played it into his phone to try and throw Bella off... obviously it didn't work.

"'I might not call you back because I don't understand modern technology," she let her hands flop to her side, giving Jacob a slightly hurt look, while I could tell Edward judged me greatly. My entire face felt red, although I felt the sudden urge to laugh at how funny this scene really was.

"In my defense, I didn't get a phone until I was fifteen-"

"I had nothing to say," Jacob blurted out, reaching over and slapping his hand over my mouth. I rolled my eyes, tempted to lick his hand, but not wanting to get poisoned.

"Ow!" Jacob yanked his hand away, he glared at me, and I grinned innocently, "I'm gonna wait in the car."

"Yeah, please do."

As I walked past Edward, I stop and clenched my teeth. "You really don't want to break the treaty, William Shakespeare." I whispered, before trudging to my car.

I didn't get far, before a tap on my shoulder made me halt. I turned around, only to see Bella Swan staring back at me with her big eyes. I raised an eyebrow, "may I help you?"

She blushed, the one time she has any color in her face, and cleared her throat. "I was wondering if I could get a ride to La Push with you... I don't really want to get on that motorcycle."

"Especially with Jake driving, am I right?" I smirked, and she visibly relaxed, nodding once and smiling lightly. I smacked the hood of my car like I was a salesman, and swung the door open so Bella could crawl in. "Sorry if there's some random gum packages in there, my boyfriend has a bit of an issue." I called, jogging over to the other side of the car, saluting some kids watching us with eyes like a hawks. I climbed in, slamming the door shut behind me. "And sorry if it gets freezing in here, you know I don't really notice." I pointed to the red button, "just press that of you get cold."

I tried to ignore how strongly she smells of the vampires as I pulled out of the parking lot.

"Sorry if I smell bad to you," she said, bashfully tucking some hair behind her ear. "I know you don't like their smell."

"You're fine," I assured, rooting in the glove-compartment until I found one of Embry's almost full packs of gum, and unwrapped a piece. He really does have an issue...

 "Embry's your boyfriend, right?"

I smiled slightly, liking the way it hears to have someone else say it. "Yeah, he is."

"Are you guys... imprints? Jake kinda explained to me what imprinting is, but it wasn't that good."

 "What did he say?"

"I dunno, some kind of poem, and then said that Sam imprinted, Jared imprinted, and you and Embry did... he didn't necessarily say it was to each other though, I think he just thought it was obvious."

I gave the girl a sideways smirk, "was it?"

"Well, kinda." She admitted, shifting in her seat and glancing out the window, tracing a rain drop as it streaked down the glass. "If you're observant."

 "Are you?"

 "Not really, no."

I laughed, flipping on the windshield wipers when it got too hard to see. "Yeah, he's my imprint. It's really freaky at first, but now it's just really awesome."

Bella sighed deeply, resting her head back on her pillow of brunette hair.

 "Yeah.... I know the feeling."

A/N: (Just a little 'Lyssa gif to show how adorable she, and Shay Mitchell, is!)

Bella and Tony give me very mixed emotions.

Would you guys be interested in a "meet my O.C's book?" that might just be me being really basic, but I read a few, and thought it looked really fun to inform you about all of my O.C's! If you want to know names, and the universe they come from, just ask, and I will tell you so you can get a grasp on whether you'd like it or not!

Also, Teen Wolf is not on Netflix... but does anyone know where I could go to watch it for free? I have heard that I make a lot of "Stiles" references in Forever and Always, but don't really know who the hell Stiles is.

Next chapter will include the bonfire! So get excited for that!

Thank you all, and keep voting and commenting!
