2 | The Party
The dress she chose was... Let's just say, bold. Naavah wanted to feel free tonight and obviously look good. The dress comprised a blue-red floral crop top and matching high waist shorts. She rolled her brown hair in beautiful bouncy curls and finished her makeup with light eyes and cherry red bold lips. Finally, when Naavah looked at the mirror, she couldn't stop the smile from appearing at the corner of her lips.
Covering herself in a navy blue overcoat, she grabbed a white chained purse. Shoving her cell phone and other accessories in it, she closed the door behind her to go downstairs. Coming downstairs, she saw her mom in the living room watching TV. She was a very calm person who has an insane amount of faith in her daughter. Her mom had one look at her way and said, "Be careful, Princess. I trust you, but not the guys hovering out there. Come home on time and be smart. Enjoy."
Naavah smiled, kissing her on the cheeks, and promised, "Mom, I'm your big girl now. I will come home all safe and sound on time, okay? Love you."
Coming out of her home, Naavah went to Ay's place, which was just a few houses beside her. Naavah saw Ay's 'current interest' Ross's car in front of her house. Without knocking, she went inside and found Ross waiting for Ay too. She was just saying hello to him when they noticed Ayana coming down with a similarly exposed dress as the one Naavah was wearing. Ross's eyes went wide, and he started to drool at the sight of her. The poor guy offered her his jacket, and Ay covered herself with it, letting out a giggle.
Ross was driving them to the party today. As he was driving the car, Ay was sitting beside him and Naavah in the backseat. She could see him stealing glances now and then at her best friend. But Naavah knew Ay. Ay was not at all oblivious of Ross's glances. But she changed her boyfriend with seasons. As she said, Ay didn't find the one yet, so she continued trying until she found the one. As they reached the party and were about to enter, Ross pulled Ay in a chaste-full kiss, leaving Naavah in an awkward position. The kid was damn worried about his girlfriend looking so damn hot.
After the kiss, they held hands and looked at Naavah. "Hey! You can open your eyes, you know? Not that you haven't seen me doing this before. Even you have done this before! Don't be a baby!" Ay said as she rolled her eyes.
"Sorry, girl! No matter how many times I've seen you do this, don't make out when I'm beside you! I feel like a third wheel. I love you, but please don't!" Naavah told her dramatically.
"Oh god! You need a boyfriend. And you better find one tonight!" Ayana groaned at her best friend.
"Not possible to find my type here, Ay. I already tried, you know that. They are just immature kids. No offense Ross," she said the last line dramatically, looking at Ross. He just chuckled, showing his thumb it's okay.
"But let's get inside and see what this party offers," she winked at Ay and entered the house.
They followed her right behind while Ay said, "I heard some outsiders are also coming. Keep your eyes open, Naav. Love can strike you anywhere, anytime, and I might just win my bet from this morning," Ay chuckled devilishly.
This party comprised what all parties offered. The moment they entered the party, they had to adjust their eyes with the dimmed light. There were so many people, and she was sure not all of them were from their college. Ay was right. Katie must have invited a few other guests as well. There was a dance floor, and so many of them were enjoying the DJ. The bar was huge and was offering colorful drinks. All the girls were looking classy and slutty, just like they have dressed.
Naavah removed her overcoat and found almost all the eyes of both guys and girls looking at her. She was blessed with a very curvy and full figure, and when she removed her coat, her quite open cleavage and full, thick, long legs were on display. She even noticed a few of the guys gulping down, looking at her.
Glancing at them, they slowly moved towards the bar, and then Naavah ordered a fruit punch, not wanting to get drunk yet. They have time. But Ay obviously has something different in mind. She ordered alcohol straight away. Ross decided not to drink tonight as he was supposed to drive, and he wanted to take care of Ay. Poor guy. He must have thought that he will change our quirky Ay into a committed Ay. But Naavah was not sure if Ay believes that he was the one.
Ross was also having fruit punch like Naavah. While she looked around, he asked her, "So Naavah, what is your plan now? Now that graduation is over."
"Umm... No more morning classes and assignments, that's the best part for now! Besides that, I've planned on joining dad's office," she exclaimed and let out a sigh of relief.
Ay was listening to them. She asked, "What about the drooling guys? Any plans of making one of the lovesick puppies your boyfriend? Or are you planning on trying office romance? Or getting married straight?" Naavah rolled her eyes at Ay while sitting on the bar counter more comfortably and then showed her middle finger. Ay laughed at that and started whispering something into Ross's ears.
Naavah was still the center of attraction. From the corner of her eyes, she saw Dave, the top basketball player of their campus, coming towards her way. This guy was really sexy, and besides, he has been crushing on her for years. But Naavah felt nothing special towards him, not that she was proud of that. He was a great guy to be together with. But she didn't feel any sparks with him. Even though Dave was sexy and cute, he wasn't matured enough for her.
"Hey Naavs, you are late. I have been looking for you for quite some time," he said in a gentle yet sexy tone.
"Yeah, was busy," she tried to keep some distance, not wanting to lead the guy anymore. There are so many girls who are crazy for him, and he needed to look for someone who showed interest back to him tonight.
"You look gorgeous, you know? All the eyes of every guy are on you. So had to catch up with you first, so I could ask you for dance first," he said sheepishly. He felt nervous while looking into her eyes.
"Umm... Thanks," she thought for a moment. Beside her, she saw Ay already going dizzy, even she has started showing PDA with Ross. Naavah sighed and looked again at Dave and said, "Okay, why not? One dance can't hurt, right? Let's go."
With Dave, she walked to the dance floor and started to enjoy the song. He was a smooth dancer. Dave put his hands on her waist eventually and started moving. His moves were very demanding, and he held Naavah very close to his body. Suddenly, Naavah found him holding her so close to his body, and his stare so intense that Naavah started to feel uncomfortable. His lips were slightly parted, and his eyes were on her lips.
"I've been into you from the beginning of their college years, you know?" he confessed suddenly.
"Umm... Dave, let's just not talk about it right now," she tried to change the topic.
"Not now, then when? This is the end of our college life. If you don't accept my feelings now, we may not see each other again. No matter how many girls I went out with, I always wanted it to be with you. I like you, Naavah."
She pushed him on the chest and made a distance in between. "I'm sorry, Dave. But I always made it clear for you. I can't. I don't feel that way for you. And I never will."
"How can you say so? Give me a chance, see if you feel anything. Just a kiss, see if that makes you feel something for me," he tried to kiss her forcefully.
"Move, Dave. Don't ever try this again with me," Naavah screamed and returned to the bar, not looking behind to see him again.
How could he force himself on her? Was this how love worked? Forcing on someone to return the feelings?
Naavah was pissed when she ordered drinks, this time with alcohol. Some boys came and offered her for dance, but she was done for the night. She politely turned them down and didn't agree anymore.
Suddenly, a very charming, and to be honest, extremely hot boy came and took the seat beside Naavah. He was tall, perfectly beautiful curly hair, and with eyes so deep to get lost in them. He looked at her and smiled genuinely. She couldn't help but smile back at him too. He took it as permission to start a conversation.
"Hi, I am Drake, Drake Williams. May I know how a gorgeous woman like you is sitting here alone?" he gave a hand.
"Hi... I'm Naavah. Naavah Woods. And don't you think the dialogue was super cheesy?" she shook his hand lightly with a light chuckle.
Drake felt lost at the melodious sound of her laughter for a second. The girl was giving his heart such warmth that he never felt before.
But he just met her.
He immediately composed himself and then said, "Naavah Woods... Hmm... Any connection with the Wood Corporations? And nope! I find my dialogue super awesome," he scrunched his nose and thought for a second before saying that.
"Yes, it's my father's. And the question is reversed to you. Any connection with the Wood Corporations? And, yeah, the dialogue was cheesy," she chuckled again. Naavah was curious. He seems interesting.
"Well, I had an interview there a few days back, in their Accounts department. Let's just say my hopes are very high to work with your father. And no, my dialogue was just fine. And awesome," he winked playfully.
"Well, good luck with that. You are quick to look for a job, I see. I also have plans to work with my father for some experience. And the dialogue was cheesy indeed," she narrowed her eyes in the end.
"I hope you find that impressive. I am just so ready to start with my life and be a responsible man, you know? Take responsibility and everything. Really looking forward to work with you, Naavah. And nope, I am not cheesy. It's just because you are gorgeous."
Be a responsible man?
Take responsibility?
Fuck, that's sexy!
Naavah was quite impressed with this guy. She smiled at his persistence.
"Already trying to impress your boss's daughter, I see. Smooth! You cheesy cheesebuns!"
"Is it working? Me being a cheesy cheesebuns, as you mentioned?" he asked again with a wink.
Naavah smirked. Looking down and sipping the drink, she said, "Maybe..."
"Then why waste time? Let's go to the dance floor. Besides, I have some more cheese in my bucket to show you," he said, smirking.
Naavah laughed at that and started walking with him. He was following behind with a hand on her lower back.
With all the drinks, Naavah was already feeling dizzy. So, when Drake held her close, his masculine woody scent made her feel dizzier... If it's even possible. He wasn't like the other boys in the room. He was different. More on the manly side that Naavah likes. He certainly wasn't a boy. He was more like a man. They moved their bodies together, along with the songs coming one after another. And they didn't remember for how long. But Naavah was surprised he never tried to take any advantage like other boys around her. He just kept looking at her face in a daze and occasionally blinking.
When the time comes, Naavah faintly heard Ross calling her name with Ayana on his side. She was so drunk.
"Hey... Let's drop you two home. The case is going out of her hand," Ross chuckled, looking at Ay.
Naavah looked at Drake with pleading eyes. And saw the same disappointment in his eyes. As if he was asking her to stay longer.
"See you again. Soon," she smiled at him.
"Will be looking forward to it, Cherry," he faintly smiled too.
"Cherry?" Naavah asked, confused.
"That's how I'll remember you, beautiful like a flower, red like Cherry," he said, smiling.
"Why not call me a flower then?" she asked, playing along.
"Cherry is sweeter."
Fuck!
That was how Cheesbuns met Cherry for the first time.
