Adrien's text to Marinette

       I understand, and I will wait as long as I need too.

      
      Marinette reads the text he sent and smiles. She thinks, well, one is for sure Adrien never stopped being the kind person I remember him to be that is for sure. The thought makes her feel rather relieved.

       Bethany notices her mother's smile. She wonders, why it is she rarely sees it anymore.  It has been years since her father's death.  A fact which reminds her she does not remember him that well. She tries too but it is hard when her mother never speaks about him.

    "Mom, Adrien is good to you,"  Bethany says.

   "Bethany, I know, but I wish to do things at my own pace,"  Marinette says.

    "Daddy has been gone for years," Bethany remarks.

     "He died when I was a few months along with you,"  Marinette says.

      "I never got to tell him the good news since he was away on business when I found out,"  Marinette tells her.

       "I am sure he loved you, but now someone new loves you,"  Bethany says.

        "Bethany, I do not think now is the time to say such things.  Besides, you are too young to understand,"   Marinette says.

        Bethany shakes her head at her mother. She thinks I understand more than you think, mom.

      She asks,  "What did Adrien say anyway?"

      "How did you know I heard from him?"  Marinette asks.

      "I just know,"  Bethany replies.

     "He says, he will wait as long as he needs too,"  Marinette answers.

      "Awe, that is sweet,"  Bethany says. She smiles and thinks, he loves my mom.

        
         Marinette's text to Adrien

        Adrien about the other day, I am sorry to have rushed off like I did.   

          
    Adrien's text to Marinette

     Do not worry about it.


   Marinette's text to Adrien

    It was rude of me not to listen to what you had to say.

   Adrien's text to Marinette

  It is okay, I get it.

  I should have known better than to give you a rose when we have not seen each other in years.


   Adrien's text to Marinette
     I meant what I said earlier about waiting for you.

    I will wait as long as I need too for you.

   

     Marinette can not find words to describe her response to him. She feels surprised.    She is pleased he has not asked her out since she would have told him no.  She breathes a sigh of relief that he is so patient with her.  Perhaps, he is a better friend than she gave him credit for anyway.

     Bethany's  POV:
       Adrien must love mom a lot to be willing to wait for her.

       He must have loved her for a long time.  

   Bethany's  POV:

   Adrien loves mother for years and just now realizes it.

   It sure seems that way, but how can I be sure?


 Bethany's  POV:
   Why is my mother so against him and her?

  She shakes her head and thinks, to bad he would have made a great stepfather.



Adrien's POV:
  I see no sense and making Marinette feel rushed.

   I love her too much to pressure her.

  Besides, who knows if my plan to wait will pay off in the end or not?


    Adrien's POV:
     I envy that man Marinette married.

  I envy the fact she has so many memories with him.

  I envy the fact that she still loves him and refuses to move on from him.

 I envy the fact that she does not see me as anything more than a friend.

Adrien's  POV:
  I will wait for you and perhaps one day you will see me as more than a friend.

   He sighs as he puts his hands inside his pockets.

Marinette's POV:
  She shakes her head.

 She thinks, well Agreste be prepared to wait a long time.

   She has no intent to fall in love with someone new that easily.

  
Marinette's  POV:
  It is ironic how things turn out sometimes.

  She was in love with Adrien once, but that was a long time ago.

   It was before she went away to China and found someone new.

  It was before she fell in love with a man who saw her as more than a friend and married him.


 Marinette's  POV:

 She can not believe it.

She refuses to believe that Adrien loves her.

She is happy at last to have him as a friend.

  Funny how things change so much in five years or so, huh?


      Little does Adrien know that a certain someone saw him the other day with Marinette at the cafe.  Little does he know that that same someone was not too happy to see them together.  Little does he know that he could be in trouble.
