I liked making Linda laugh. I kept going around saying random things to people that, for the most part, I didn't even know. To be quite honest, I think she was a bit afraid to talk to them.

Other than that, there was really nothing to do but talk to people and eat the delicious strawberry cupcakes set out so precisely on the table. I caught Linda yawning a few times and I had to admit, I was feeling a bit tired myself.

"I'm ready to go, but if you like we could stick around a bit longer," I told her.

She shook her head. "I'm ready,"

"Alright, I'll just sign my name in the guest book then we can..." I froze as I saw the man I hated walking toward the bar. Of course he was invited. Just remember what Mum said; let it be.

Linda followed my gaze and frowned. "What's wrong, Paul?"

"It's...nothing," I sighed as I leaned over the thick guest book and signed my name.

We had to park aways because there wasn't a very large parking lot, so everyone was parked along the road. Luckily for Linda, the sidewalks were smooth enough to go along in her wheelchair.

Suddenly I heard a muffled scream behind me. I whipped around and saw Linda, and someone's hand was cupped tightly over her mouth. I looked up and saw Jake, his scruffy unshaven face just as menacing as I remembered. I was filled with so much hate for him I couldn't contain myself. Balling my hands into fists, I struck him across the face and he staggered back; I had taken him by surprise.

He recovered faster than I expected, though. He came at me, grabbing my collar, ready to hit me back, but my instincts took over and I kneed him down below. He crumpled to the pavement, moaning aloud.

"IF YOU EVER DARE TO LAY A FINGER ON HER AGAIN," I screamed at him. "I WILL NOT HOLD BACK!"
