A/N Sorry I couldn't update this the other day :(
I don't remember falling asleep, or even going to bed. Yawning widely, I got up to check on Linda, who was still sleeping soundly. I don't even remember her having a nightmare, which could be a good thing or a bad one.
I poured us two cups of tea and brought them in. She looks so cute when she's sleeping, I thought, but I figured it might be a little awkward for her to wake up and find me watching her, so I gently shook her awake.
She saw me and smiled as I helped her sit up, arranging her pillows to support her back. I handed her a cup and sat on the floor, drinking my own.
"Do you want to see your dad today?" I asked
"That would be nice," she paused. "But you drove me around yesterday, I don't want to take up all your time"
"It's no bother, really," I assured her. "This is more important than anything else,"
"Thank you, Paul,"
"Oh, Linda," I began, laying a hand on her arm. It was a habit of mine.
"Yes?"
"Did you have a nightmare last night?"
"I..No, I don't think so," her face lit up.
"Oh good," I sighed, relaxing my shoulders. She finished her tea and set the cup on the nightstand. "Hey Linda, do you wanna try walking on your own?" She thought about it then nodded. I helped her up and held her hand as she took a few steps forward.
Only after seven steps did she have to sit down. Her balance was improving bit by bit with each passing day, and she was becoming more patient with it. I helped her into her chair and took our empty cups to the kitchen, glancing up at the clock. 7:54. Linda pulled out a slip of paper that had her dad's address and handed it to me.
"I think I know where this is," I told her. It was on the same road as my step-sister's house. "It's not too far away."
