37 | My Sign is Leo

Seira

Tears threaten to escape my tear ducts and tension filled the air between me and Georgia.

Is that what people think about me?

'At least I'm not forcing myself on everybody'

'At least I'm not forcing myself on everybody'

'At least I'm not forcing myself on everybody'

I wiped a stray tear from my cheek and fought to stay in my strong facade.

"Okay," I said softly and she turned her back on me.

"Seira! Georgia!" a voice suddenly boomed.

We turned our heads towards the voice that belong to our father.

"We were supposed to have a nice family dinner tonight and what I hear when I arrive are the both of you arguing?"

I looked away and he sighed.

"Okay, whatever problems the both of you have I'm sure we can settle it at the dinner table right?" he suggested, hopeful.

"We're not kids anymore dad. We don't do that anymore," Georgia said and walked away.

"Georgia!" Dad called her out.

I started to walk away and he called my name.

"Seira! Don't walk away from your problems too. Let's settle this out with your sister."

I stopped walking and I said without facing him, "Just like how you walk away from your problems too dad?"

Georgia

As usual, Dad went to me first and tried to persuade me to give in.

What did I expect?

"Hey," Dad greeted me as he slid in my room.

I sat on the edge of my bed facing him, looking tired and defeated.

"Hey," I replied softly. "You're here to make me apologize right?"

He sits next to me and nodded.

I hugged myself, "I don't want to."

"You have to. You're sisters. You know she's very sensitive and she needs to be guided. She doesn't want to listen to me and I-I don't think she ever will again. So please, talk to her."

I narrowed my eyes at him and I snapped, "I need to be guided too dad.
Why is it always her? I really try not to think about it dad but I can't stop thinking of our life before her. If, If she wasn't here maybe we'd all still be together."

"Georgia! What happened is not Seira's fault!" Dad yelled.

"I know! I know it's wrong to think about it that way. But she's making it very difficult! I'm tired of carrying her above my shoulders all the time. And what do I get? I get insults from that ungrateful brat!" I spat.

The corners of dad's mouth rose, "Well, I may or may not have heard that you called her a flirt."

"I did not say that!" I defended myself.

"The point is the both of you insulted each other. And because you're the eldest and the most mature sister, let this slide and apologize."

"Ugh, why do I have to apologize first? I got mad at her for Leo. She's leading him on and she has no clue she's doing it. Her immaturity and selfishness brings my Leo in a world of pain," I complained.

Dad sighed, "You're saying this argument is for a boy? Are you kidding me?"

"Dad! Leo is not just a boy."

"I know you like him. But if the problem is between him and Seira then don't put yourself in it."

I glared at him, "If it concerns Leo and his feelings then I won't back down."

He sighed, "Okay. If I can't tell you otherwise then can you please just tell her what she's doing wrong rather than insult her?"

Stunned with his comment, I stood up, "Who's side are you on?"

"I'm on neither side. I just want the both of you to make up already."

I groaned, "Whatever dad. I'm tired and I won't talk to her unless she snaps out of it!"

I finally concluded our conversation and pushed him out of my room.

After I closed the door, I leaned my back on it and thought about how he's going to go try and talk to Seira next like he always does.

After almost a minute of standing like that, I decided to eavesdrop on his conversation with Seira outside her door.

It wasn't closed properly and I can hear their conversation in the gap.

"Seira I know you're awake," my dad started.

He cleared his throat and continued, "I-uh-actually don't know what to say."
"I know you don't always want to talk to me."

Well she doesn't really want to talk with you most of the time dad.

"If-if only your mother was here she'd know what to do. Both of you miss her right? Both of you wishes she'd be here instead of me right?"

My heart suddenly feels like it's being squeezed.

"Stop it Dad," Seira replied with her voice sounding very hoarse.

"Anyway, Georgia was just trying to protect you. It might have been an argument but somehow it's just her way of-," Seira cut him off by screaming.

"I don't want to talk to you or Georgia! I wish she wasn't my sister. And I wish the more that you aren't my father! Now get out!"

Silence filled the air until dad bravely spoke.

"Okay. Just call me if you need anything."

His footsteps grew louder as he neared the door and I run as fast and silently as I could to my door.
