35 | 'It's A Hard Knock Life'

Leo

I don't know if I should text Seira to come and hang out with her and that 'Scott'.

Yesterday, that shorty—Scott, weaseled himself in my 'making up' conversation or moment with Seira.

My upper lip and left eye twitched.

He even managed to persuade her in learning how to drive.

Years. I tried to convince her for years and he did it in just a blink of an eye!

I'm so annoyed that I can't even think straight and do some work in this office.

I tried diverting my thoughts to work but it's no use. I always end up staring blankly at nothing and tap my pen on the table.

And because she is the nice and thoughtful girl that she is, of course she invited me to hang out with them.

I want to hang out, but not with him.

How can I say yes to that?

I sighed, "It will be so awkward that I know I wouldn't be able to say anything."

Frustrated, I messed up my hair and slumped on my chair to debate within myself on whether or not I should accept Seira's invitation.

It's already 11:00 and they're probably meeting each other now.

I can still catch up to them, right?

The door suddenly opened and I quickly fixed my posture.

"What is Seira doing right now?" Joanna fumed.

I raised an eyebrow, "I thought she told you?"

She pinched her nose bridge, "All she texted me was she wanted a half-day off and when I replied 'no' she didn't reply back."

"She's hanging out with Scott today."

She looked at me as if saying 'really?'

"She's ditching for half a day to hang out with THE Kaneko?" she crossed her arms and leaned on the door. "I must say, I totally understand where she's coming from. If I have the chance to hang out with a handsome pop star I'd grab it 100%. Now I know why you look so—."

I cut her off and chuck a pad of sticky notes to her direction.

"Shut the fuck up."

"Shit Leo. You're annoyed aren't you?" she joked with the corners of her mouth stretching into a grin.

I threatened to throw my mouse at her direction, "If making fun of me is the only reason you're here then get the heck out of my office before I throw this at you."

Joanna's grin turned to snickering and finally when she couldn't take it anymore, she chortled her ass off.

"I'm going now but let me just tell you this. Get in the battlefield or you'll lose the chance of winning. Ciao troll face!" she advised and slammed the door shut before I can throw the mouse at her face.

Like I don't know that Joanna!

I groaned loudly and slumped back on my chair when the door opened again.

But this time I'm ready to throw the mouse at Joanna's direction.

I was almost going to chuck it but once she showed her face, I tried to hide it behind my back.

"What a unique way of greeting your guests Leo," Georgia mused.

"Sorry, I thought you were Joanna. What brings you here?"

She sat down on the chair beside my table.

"Just here to check on you. Weird, I don't see my sister around you."

I sighed, "She's learning how to drive with Scott."

Her eyebrows raised due to shock, "I thought she hated that. He must be a good teacher then?"

That last bit irked me and my nose twitched.

"She was just nice enough to accept his request. He was threatening to shout 'I like you' in public if she didn't."

Georgia scoffed, "Yeah right. So—."

"So what?" I pushed her to continue.

"Are you nice enough to accept my request too?"

"Is that why you're here?"

She nodded.

I sighed again, "Well alright. If it's anything I can do just tell me what it is that you want so I can finally do some work here."

Georgia pouted, "Okay. Go out with me."

I choked on my own spit.

"I don't know how the heck I'm still surprised after all this time."

"Well?"

I massaged my temples, "I'm afraid I'd have to say no again Georgia. You know I like someone else."

She crossed her arms, "Yeah, and that someone else likes someone else too. I bet that someone else doesn't even know that somebody likes them."

I groaned and slumped in my chair.

Georgia walked towards the door.

"Leo, the other one is making a move. You're the only person not doing one. Someone else will be snatched up before you can even scream 'I like you' in public if you're moving so slow. Anyhow, this is a win for me and Leo? This is my move," she blew me a flying kiss and walked out the door.

Instinctively, I dodged the imaginary flying kiss.

Joanna was pressuring me and now Georgia?

Suddenly, the door opened. Again.

"What is it this time!" I yelled.

Seira stood in the doorway, bewildered by my sudden outburst.

Embarrassed, I quickly sit down on my chair and swiveled it away from her.

"I just came here to ask why you didn't come with us. We had so much fun and it would've been more fun it you were there."
