25 | Oblivious to the Obvious

Seira

I'd rather be dead than lose all of my friends.

Georgia gave me a harsh slap back to reality even though I am depressed.

I realized that I don't want to make my friends feel like I did because of me.

I called Leo on his apartment telephone but all my calls immediately go to voicemail, so I've decided that a face-to-face apology is more sincere anyway.

Next I tried to message Mario on Instagram to try and ask him where I could visit him but he blocked me.

I guess he doesn't want to talk to me anymore and I guess I deserve it.

I let out a sigh of defeat.

Well, avoiding me or not I won't give up in apologizing.

Good news is at least C.W forgave me but not after she gave me an hour of scolding and explanations.

Let me say it again, I deserve it.

I insisted that I work for her today but she kicked me out of the office and told me that I won't be going to work until I can apologize to Leo.

I'll say it again, I deserve it.

I tried to apologize to Leo in his office but his secretary told me he didn't go to work today.

I guess he really did ignore my calls.

And so here I am at 7:00 PM with a box of pizza outside his apartment and ready to knock.

Actually, I have been ready to knock since 30 minutes ago.

Surprisingly, the door opened when I almost collided my knuckles on the door.

His usual messy dirty blonde hair stick out of control and bags appeared under his captivating blue eyes.

"Are you coming in or what?" he asked.

"I-yes!" I replied nervously.

The television played advertisements in the background and from what I'm seeing Leo kept his apartment space clean.

Except for the living room where his gaming consoles, blankets, pillows, and rubbish are out.

I winced and my face turned to worry.

Leo must really be stressed and I know it is my entire fault.

"This is not completely your fault if that's what you're thinking. I'm sick and I don't feel well enough to go to work. I think it's because I was out looking for you all night the other day," he nonchalantly said. But I know he is low-key aiming those words at me.

I felt a guilt arrow stabbing me in the heart and I awkwardly stood in the kitchen.

He settled himself in a beanbag and asked me, "Are you going to tell me something or did standing become your hobby after you went with that guy?"

Another guilt arrow stabbed me.

I walked towards him, "Leo, I-I'm sorry. I didn't mean to worry you like that."

He scoffed, "You totally knew that's what I'm going to do once you left without telling me."

I sank down on my knees, "I know what I did was stupid. I know I'm stupid. And if it will make you forgive me I'll do anything you ask."

"I just need to know the truth. I don't need anything else," he offered.

"I-," I closed my mouth, hesitating to tell him.

What would he do or say if I tell him we were chased by a murderer?

Should I tell him about Mario?

After I messaged the woman Mario told me to, he asked for me-made me promise, that I shouldn't tell anyone I was with him.

I'm not one to break a promise nor want to purposely inflict pain to my friends but...

"Are you going to tell me or not?" Leo asked again.

I gulped, "I wanted fresh air so I went out with a friend to the arcade and I-we, saw a woman getting murdered and was chased for it."

"Is that the truth?"

"Yes, I'm telling the truth," I exclaimed.

Spitefully, he said, "You wouldn't even bother telling me who this 'friend' was that you trusted so much to escort you outside?"

I looked down in remorse and suddenly he stood up.

"I guess not," he said and slowly walked out to the balcony until I finally decided to speak out.

"He's Mario Nielsen. I've seen him-coincidentally, a couple of times, most of the times in Oblivion. I believe he is working there and I think you might know him," I admitted.

Indignantly, he replied, "You're lying."

"No. I promise that I'm not. Please Leo, believe me," I begged.

"Do you think I'm stupid...," Leo paused when he realized my attention is caught by the television wherein an anchorwoman is broadcasting news.

"After being missing on his Detroit concert yesterday, Scott Kaneko is bombarded with angry and worried tweets from his fans after he tweeted 'I'd really love to see everybody in Detroit but my sudden state is forcing me to postpone the event for the time being. Hopefully I'd be able to overcome this very soon. I'm really sorry'."

"This tweet left everyone in the entertainment industry curious of his sudden disappearance and has led to various rumors."

"But one rumor caught the attention of everyone, claiming that Scott is unable to perform because he is critically injured. We've tried to contact the pop-star for an exclusive interview but his manager declined and released a statement in his behalf saying I quote, 'The press and Mr. Kaneko's fans should not feel any more worries for he is only resting but his situation is a matter that we will not take lightly as his physical and emotional health is of utmost importance to us. Mr. Kaneko sends his deepest regrets for not being able to attend the concert and sends all his love to his understanding fans'."

"Did Scott Kaneko's sudden disappearance and vague comment confuse you? Are you curious to know what he is hiding? Tune in to our Instagram show to find out more."

The news left me shocked and I stopped moving as it flashed the face of the guy I trusted and treated like a friend.

Mario's real name is Scott Kaneko and he is a famous pop-star and obviously I'm too stupid and oblivious to that fact.
