Sasha and I have been hunting Streetskaters for at least two years now, and I know for a fact that she thinks I'm unqualified. The fact that my hand still shakes when I try to hold a gun is proof enough in her eyes.

Streetskaters are people who've chosen to live in iniquity outside of our walls. They try to live outside the laws, and have become more animal than human because of their wildness. Sasha and I are PeaceKeepers, the highly trained collective that hunt down and bring in the most dangerous Streetskaters to face justice. Currently, we are hunting a Streetskater named Katarina. Mr. Everhart, our leader, has taken a personal interest in her capture, so there is a lot of pressure on us to bring her in in a timely manner. 

We were about to enter this rundown apartment building when a call came in on Sasha's radio.

Brzzt. "P.K. Dep. team one-eight-four, Katarina has been spotted at a gas station about twenty miles from your current location, over." Sasha turns to me. 

"Will, we have to get over there." I frown, looking back up at the building. 

"I don't know, Sasha. For some reason, I get the feeling that she's holed up in here. You know how many sightings we've had that turned out to be nothing. I think that we should investigate this building first." She glares at me. 

"Now, you listen to me, Will." She growls. "I will NOT tolerate insubordinance from you, do you understand?" The best way to deal with Sasha when she's like this is to do as she says. Since I want to live, I say, "Okay, fine. But if this one's another dud, I reserve the right to say 'I told you so.'"

She smiles, and heads toward the car. I follow behind, glancing back at the building. Is that.... Someone on the roof? My heartbeat quickens, looking for any excuse to stay here. For some reason, I really want to go into that building. I scan the roof more carefully, but there is no more movement.
