Chapter 92: The Cathedral and the Return of a Familiar Face
June 29, 2013, Tall Oaks, U.S.A.
Y/N POV
Two days had passed since the events on the Submarine. Me and Ada had decided it would be best to stick together until we could uncover whatever Simmons game was. And our best bet was to investigate the site which he claimed would be the first target.
Sure enough, upon our arrival at the small town in America known as Tall Oaks, we found the entire place crawling with B.O.Ws. That combined with the rain and lightning, it felt like we were reliving Raccoon City all over again.

What made this town particularly interesting as Simmons' first target was that, according to Ada, Simmons had a lab located near the towns cathedral. As soon as the structure came into view Ada commented "There's the Cathedral. Now, to find my way into your lab Simmons."
We both used our Hookshots to reach the top of the spire. We looked down at the sight below us as Ada added "Can't believe he went through with it. Poor town, this bears investigating." We made our way across the roof.
I asked "So, you worked for Simmons before?" Ada replied in a regretful tone "Yes, unfortunately. He wasn't my proudest employer, but I didn't expect him to go this far." She then raised her hand and signalled "Quiet."
She then pointed and said "Look." I turned to see she was pointing and noticed two figures kick a gate down and run into the churchyard. Upon looking closer my eyes narrowed before widening when I recognized the man as LEON!
While I couldn't get a clear look at him through the darkness and rain, I knew it was him, the hair was a massive giveaway. Ada said "Leon! So, you've been caught up in this too. Hope you have the stomach for it. I nodded and commented "Why is it that whenever us two are working together, Leon always finds a way to make an appearance? Funny. What is this, the third time?"
I turned to Ada and said in a serious tone "No matter, let's go." We both aimed our Hookshots and launched ourselves into the churchyard, away from Leon and his unknown companion. After a short walk, we came across a crypt leading underground.
We leapt into it and instantly made our way down the stone tunnel. Before we could get far though, my own blue cube communicator started ringing. We both stopped however I turned to Ada and instructed "You keep going, I'll catch up."
She gave me a look before sighing and saying "Fine. But don't take too long." With that she proceeded down the crypt as I took the cube out of my pocket and opened it up. Once again, I was greeted by the face of Ada, which was strange considering she had literally just rounded the corner ahead of me.
The Ada on the communicator grinned and spoke up, saying "Glad to see you kept my little gift Y/N." I wasted no time snapping "You have some serious questions to answer. First off, who are you? Secondly how much is Simmons paying you? Third, why did you drag me into this."
'Ada' just grinned and replied "There is more going on here than you may think. I suggest you not jump to conclusions until you are 100% sure of the facts. I see you are already close to Simmons' old lab. Good, there is something I think you'll find, enlightening there. Goodbye."
Without another word and without giving me a chance to ask further questions, she instantly hung up. I put the communicator away and muttered "Damn you, when I find out who you really are, you are going to PAY!"
I headed down the stone tunnel myself until at last I came across Ada. I found her kneeling in front of an old chest holding onto a strange artefact. Just as I entered the room, the door behind me slammed shut and locked.
I turned to Ada just as some zombies began to crawl out of the ground. Ada said "Time for a little house cleaning." We instantly began fighting off the zombies, between the fact that I was already very experienced with zombies as well as the fact that I had fought far dangerous creatures than them in the past, we easily dealt with each one.
Once that was done, the door ahead of us opened, however before we proceeded, Ada stopped and turned to me, asking "So, was that me again?" I nodded and she instantly said "And what did she have to say?" To this I replied "She just said that in the lab there is something we'll find 'enlightening' whatever she meant by that. She was very vague about it before hanging up." Ada seemed frustrated and ridiculed me, saying "Next time she contacts you, I want to see her. Make sure she talks."
I then changed the subject pointing at the object she picked up before and asked "What's that?" Ada showed me, saying "A piece of some kind of crest, perhaps it will come in handy. You never know." I nodded in agreement and just like that, we continued for a short while until at last we arrived outside in some kind of graveyard.
Directly opposite us was a door, upon trying to open it though we realized it would require something very particular to open. I looked at the crest that Ada found and proposed "Perhaps, this piece will be of help."
We placed it on the door and sure enough it fit in. Ada turned to me and said "Good idea Y/N, now where's the rest of the pieces?" I replied "Perhaps somewhere spread throughout this graveyard, let's look around see what we can find."
Spreading out across the graveyard lead us both to another door. That door lead us into a crypt. It didn't take us long to come across another chest, similar to the one we found before. However it was on top of a trap door and out of no where, a zombie appeared and triggered said trap door, causing the chest to drop down.
Swiftly killing the zombie. I noticed something interesting propped up against a nearby wall, picking it up I fount that it was a SNIPER RIFLE! I grinned to myself and swung the rifle over my shoulder.

It didn't take us long to reactivate the trap door that lead us down into another room where we could loot the chest and get the second piece of the crest. After that, we had to solve another puzzle, this one involved fixing some circuitry so that the electricity flowed.
Zombies began dropping into the room and I dealt with them as Ada pushed the electrical chairs in the path of the wires to form and circuit and generate a useful electrical flow. The last slot was filled as we shot one of the zombies on top of the wires, frying it and opening up the way to the floor we were on earlier.
Here, we found a cell from earlier already open and it was here that we finally found the final crest piece, after narrowly avoiding yet another trap, we found there was no third piece here, instead we found a strange ring. Possibly needing it later, we decided to keep hold of it for the time being.
With these items in hand, we had to continue even deeper, we came across one final puzzle that involved getting these little gems from the eyes of two skeleton-like B.O.Ws. Normally this would be difficult, however due to my enhanced speed, pursuing them was easy and as soon as I found them, they didn't put up much of a fight, allowing us to easily secure their gems.
Placing the gems in the eyes of two more skulls, granted us access to continue. Ada commented "You're a twisted man Simmons, as twisted as they come." I just chuckled to myself. I had spent most of my life around THE Albert Wesker, Simmons was just child's play to me, it was just his bizarre actions and the strange Ada doppelganger that caught my attention.
Through this gate we FINALLY came across the final piece of the puzzle as well as the ladder that lead us back outside into the graveyard. At last we were able to put our theory to the test, placing the remaining pieces of the crest into the door and sure enough it opened up. Revealing a sheer drop ahead of us.
We leapt into it the crypt and found ourselves right opposite a door. On the other side we would finally get a clear glimpse of what this new virus was truly capable of...
Author's Note: And that's it for this chapter, I really hope you enjoyed it, I also hope you enjoy what's coming next, I have some interesting things planned once we reach the China portion of the game's story. Of course as always, thank you for reading.
