Chapter 89: The Submarine

Northern Atlantic Ocean, June 27, 2013...

Y/N POV

My eyes shot back to the blue cube in my hand, more specifically at the small blinking light on a tiny map. That light represented the coordinates for the submarine Ada informed me of. The other dot on the map was my own location that was drawing closer to its destination.

I picked up speed in the small boat I had used to get this far and eventually, the two dots intertwined with one another on the small radar causing me to instantly revert the cube back to its prism shape and tuck it away in my pocket before making my way outside.

On the small fishing boat's deck, rain was hammering down causing said boat to rock about on the uneven waters of the Atlantic ocean. I changed into the spare scuba-gear I had brought along for the occasion, hooked up the oxygen tank and without a word, leapt overboard.

As you already know, about two years had passed since Alex Wesker's experiment. After that incident, I resumed my previous act of constantly moving across the world, keeping off the BSAA's radar following the whole Uroboros incident. Though out of the blue, I received a package and message from Ada telling me she needed to meet my help with a strange task, she also sent me this blue cube and told me to meet her on a submarine which of course leads me to right now.

I don't know why she chose to contact me when she did or why she wanted us to meet on a submarine in the middle of the ocean. Though I figured I should just take the gamble and see what she had to say.

I swam downwards, deeper into the dark waters. I couldn't see all that well and I had to squint through my goggles to see in the rapidly darkening ocean. However luckily for me, I soon caught sight of the Submarine in question.

If I could speak, I'd have muttered "There we go." However being underwater, with my scuba-gear on, I kept silent and instead just swam closer to the underwater vessel until I eventually I came across a bulkhead door on the side.

I grabbed hold of the circular handle and began twisting it. For a normal person, it would be extremely difficult to twist the handle, especially underwater. However thanks to my enhanced strength, I used little effort before the hatch door finally opened.

Water instantly began flooding into the submarine, pushing me in along with it. Before too much came in, blowing my hole operation, I swiftly got to my feet and closed the hatch, sealing it back up once again.

I leaned against the door for a moment, catching my breath before removing the oxygen tank and the rest of the scuba gear leaving me in my usual black attire.

Turning back around I muttered to myself "So, where do I go from here?" The bulkhead seemed to be part of a small storage room of sorts, I noticed there was only one door, so it instantly was clear where I had to go.

Before setting off though, I reached into my holster and pulled out my Samurai Edge handgun with the new Silencer enhancement I'd put on it. Even though it was Ada who called me here, I still wasn't taking any chances.

Heading out of the door lead me out onto a dark corridor, to the right was a dead-end so my next step was to go left which lead me around another corner where I found two doors, both of which were automatic and opened up.

One seemed to be a sleeping quarters that was empty, the other was also empty and seemed to be another storage room of sorts. Neither of which interested me. As I was about to go past them though, running footsteps could be heard round another corner.

I swiftly ducked into one of the rooms just as two men in strange attire ran past the door where I was hiding, not noticing that it was still open. I decided to follow them, keeping in the shadows only to see them head right back to the storage room which I entered through.

Image of one of the strange soldiers:

They opened the door to the room and as some leftover water seeped out into the hallway, they both stepped back. One of them reached up to their helmet as if communicating with someone as I heard them speak up.

"The area of the breach is empty. Though there's water all over the floor and some black scuba-gear, someone's definitely here.. We'll begin our search of the surrounding area." This made me tense up and shrink back around the corner as I heard the two strange soldiers coming back towards me. And that's when I attacked.

As soon as one of the soldiers was in range, I lunged out and snapped his neck in an instant. The second one yelled "INTRUDER!" And opened fire, shooting several automatic rounds at me. I was able to dodge before grabbing the soldier's head and smashing it into the wall, breaking the helmet and killing the soldier in the process.

Both bodies hit the ground and as I stared down at them, I stated "That was too close." If one of those soldiers had managed to sound an alarm, I may have been in trouble. Luckily though it seemed I had the element of surprise.

Who these soldiers were, I didn't know. Were they perhaps tied to the job Ada wanted me for? Were they part of an organization which I was unaware of? Regardless though, their presence certainly began making me more cautious about what was going on.

Even with my doubt nagging at my mind, I pressed on deeper into the submarine. It didn't take me long to reach a corner where another soldier stood guard by a laser grid. I ducked back out of sight before he could spot me.

I waited for a moment until I knew the soldier wasn't facing my direction before leaping out. I performed a kick that knocked the soldier face-first into the ground, I then followed up by standing over him and aiming my now-silenced Samurai Edge at him and firing three shots into his body.

Next I turned my attention towards the barrier in front of me, I muttered "I assume stepping through here will trigger the alarm. Wouldn't want that." I began looking around for another route and the only option I came across was a small vent located on the wall.

I plucked the vent off the wall and slowly began to crawl into it. The space was tight and cramped, though I was able to crawl through it for a while until at last, I found another vent which looked down into another large room.

I kicked the vent down before slipping through and dropping into the room. Luckily, there were no soldiers around so I quickly got to my feet and made my way towards another door that lead out onto another hallway.

Just my luck though, that just as I was about to start exploring more, another soldier rounded the corner up ahead and spotted me. It was too late to hide and instead I aimed my handgun and fired four shots into his torso that knocked him back into the wall.

From there, I was back to sneaking through the submarine. I was no closer to finding any answers as to why Ada wanted me here or why there were soldiers, even when I encountered more of them, there was no answers as to who they were or why they were here.

Continuing to navigate through hallways, I eventually found myself coming to a dead end, here though, was another vent. I repeated the earlier process, plucking the grating off the wall and crawling into the vent itself.

After another brief crawl I came to something that caught my attention, ahead of me was a vent that had already been kicked in, providing me a view of another small yet open room. I wasted no time dropping down.

However when I did, there was instantly the click of a firearm. Opening my eyes, I instantly saw a submachine gun aimed at my face. Before whoever it belonged to could fire, I lunged forward, swiftly pinning my attacker against the nearby wall.

When I got a look at them though, my eyes widened under my sunglasses as I exclaimed "Ada?!" Oddly enough, Ada looked at me with an equally confused expression before asking something which made me raise an eyebrow "Y/N?! What are you doing here?"

Author's Note: And that's it for the first chapter of this segment. I did accidentally upload an incomplete version of this last night so I'm sorry for the inconvenience. I'm also sorry if this chapter was kind of underwhelming, I found it difficult with my absence from the book, I've also got a lot of planning to do with this segment, despite it being the last one of the story, I've got a lot of things to include. Even so, I really hope you enjoyed the chapter and as always, thank you for reading.
