Chapter 47: The Last Hiding Place of Oswell E Spencer
(I'm really sorry for the late upload. I've started my internship today and I don't finish until 4 so I have to work around that. It will remain this day every Monday-Friday aside from the odd day here and there. I'm sorry for any inconvenience.)
Timeskip, two years later...
It had been two years since the fall of Los Illuminados and Osmund Saddler's defeat. Even though he was long dead, he still remained in the back of my mind. More-so, how easily he was able to overpower me. Without Leon and Ada, I know for certain that I wouldn't have survived. Nevertheless, I continued working under Albert's instructions which leads us to where we are now.
Lightning crashed, rain fell and thunder roared as me and Albert silently walked down a long dirt back. Almost skeletal trees lined said path leading up to a large stately mansion, the appearance and even surrounding setting reminded me of the Arklay mansion from years ago that had long since been reduced to rubble in the explosion.

The reason we had come to this seemingly irrelevant yet mysterious location was because we had both received and anonymous tip off that this was the location where Umbrella's old founder, Oswell E. Spencer was hiding out.
He dropped off the grid after Umbrella fell and I don't know why Albert wanted to find him so bad however I assumed it was due to what Krauser mentioned two years ago about restoring Umbrella. I had tried questioning him about this however he refused to speak of it, even to me which just seemed to bolster my curiosity.
Once we reached the door to the mansion, we wasted no time in both kicking it really hard, the double doors swung open with a loud bang which alerted four human bodyguards lurking the hallway, presumably hired by Spencer. All of them aimed rifles and handguns at us yelling "FREEZE!"
I didn't even speak as Albert simply ordered "Y/N." I nodded and we both dashed towards the guards, not even giving them a chance to open fire. I gripped one of the guard's arms and snapped it out of its socket before violently punching him in the face.
He fell to the ground, blood leaking from his face as I kicked him in the face, killing him. The second raised his gun and yelled "What the f-!" I cut him off by shooting drawing my handgun and shooting him in his chest twice before aiming a third at his head quickly causing him to meet the same fate.
With then nuisances out of the way, I turned to Albert just as he finished brutally pulling his arm out from one of guard's torsos letting it slung against the wall, leaving a bloody trail leaking down towards the body.
Albert turned to look at me before saying "Spencer will likely be located within his study. I suggest we find that." I just nodded and replied by saying "Very well. Sounds fine with me." We climbed the staircases and came across two locked iron barred gates.
I smirked and instantly leapt over them before muttering "Amateurs. It will take more than a low iron gate to keep me out." Albert did the same exact thing and we explored the higher levels of the mansion's entrance hallway.
Appearance-wise this mansion was almost identical to the mansion from the Arklay mountains, I assume Spencer based that location on this one right here, judging by certain details, I was lead to believe that this was the Spencer family estate.
Me and Albert navigated the mansion, heading through a door which included a long corridor, doors lined it until we eventually arrived at one door in particular. Upon opening it, we found ourselves in a library of sorts.
Keeping on our guard, me and Albert looked around, preparing to deal with any surprise attackers, when I looked on a table and noticed something. A book lay open on the table with what appeared to be a VHS tape lying next to it.
I first analysed the book, it appeared to be some kind of children's tale, the name of the story was simply 'Village of Shadows' why it was here in Spencer's Mansion confused me. However the tape caught my attention next.
Picking the old tape up, I analysed the label on the side and I will admit, I was caught off guard when I saw a simple name, a woman's name nonetheless. 'M. Miranda' was all it said, who she was, I don't know. But the nature of the tape disturbed me.
I was cut off when Albert asked "Did you find something of interest?" For some reason, I felt that the tape had best be kept secret from Albert, whatever was on there, I had a hunch it was important. I responded "It's nothing." And quickly stashed the tape in my pocket, leaving the book open on the table.
Albert emerged from behind a book case and said "There's nothing useful in here. Let's go." I nodded and said "Right." Before we both departed the library and retraced our steps, back towards the Mansion's opening room.
We crossed over to the other side of the entrance hall and entered through another door, we soon encountered more of Spencer's guards which was a good sign as it signalled we were nearing our objective.
Wasting no time cutting through the bodyguards, both literally and metaphorically. We slayed each of them one after the other. We also encountered doors that would normally require puzzles to unlock however we both just used our enhanced strength to smash our way through.
I rolled my eyes and muttered "The old man always had a thing for needlessly complicated puzzles." Albert let out a chuckle at my comment as we walked down one final long corridor before eventually reaching a large set of double doors.
We waited for a moment as I muttered "This is it. I can feel it." Albert nodded and said "He's here." Without another word, we harshly flung the doors open and entered into the large room, letting them both bang behind us.
Sure enough, looking around, we saw a lone wheelchair over by the window, facing towards the violent rain and lightning outside. As we stepped into the room, we heard the voice that we had grown to know all too well. A voice which made me shrivel with hatred.
"I was wondering when you two would find your way here. I must admit, it took you longer than I had thought." I stepped forward and commented "You're a hard man to track down Spencer. Though you also seem to not be in the best physical condition."
A sickly laugh sounded throughout the room followed by Spencer saying "Oh Y/N, ever the perceptive one. You may have lacked the intelligence of your siblings but you had your own uses in the end."
That's when he spun around in the wheelchair, allowing us to get our first good look at him. It was clear he was nearing the end of his life, there was life support hooked up to him beating slowly. His eyes still held that same sinister look in them.

Spencer grinned down at us both before asking "Why is it you have both come here?" I fell silent at this, again, Albert had never told me why we had come to this remote mansion. Yet he had insisted that I come along with him.
Albert then stepped forward and asked a question which made me instantly perk up. It was a matter I had wondered myself yet I had never thought to deliberately seek out Spencer himself to gain the answers to it.
"Tell us about the 'Wesker' project and the Progenitor Virus."
Author's Note: And that's the first chapter of the Resident Evil 5 segment. I'm sorry if it was an underwhelming start, I found this chapter difficult since I've had a rough day today, though I still wanted to write to take my mind off it. I still do hope you enjoyed the chapter, I certainly enjoyed writing it and as always, thank you for reading.
