Y/N POV

I found the entrance to the sewers no problem. And from there, I just followed the path which I knew lead directly to Umbrella's underground laboratory known as the NEST, that is where I believe Leon and Ada were heading.

I never really understood why Umbrella built an entrance to their laboratory that could be accessed via the sewer line, but I never really questioned it either. The Birkin's were always a curious pair in my eyes, I just learned to keep out of their business.

Continuing to make my way through the sewers, ignoring the foul stench in the air, I eventually came across a door that was seemingly locked. I had no problem simply palm-thrusting the door right off its hinges, causing it to hit the ground with a loud crash.

I stepped through the door and my eyes widened at what I saw. There was a burnt Zombie lying on the ground and next to it was LEON unconscious with Ada's coat  wrapped around him. I ran towards him and squatted down exclaiming "Leon?!"

He slowly began to stir before his eyes opened, he looked at me confused "Y/N?" I quickly asked "Leon what the hell happened?!" I then noticed his arm which had been bandaged up to cover a gunshot wound. I looked around noticing that Ada was absent so I asked "And where's Ada?"

Leon looked around saying "She was just-" He cut himself off when he noticed she wasn't there. He then explained "We encountered a blonde woman I think she was called Annette, she shot me." I just nodded again in understanding before regaining my composure.

"She can't have gotten far, I've not been gone that long." Leon stood up and grabbed his handgun before saying "Okay." He then looked down and noticed the wound in my side from that monster's tentacle "Y/N, you're injured."

I placed my hand on the still bleeding wound and grinned saying "Yeah, it will take more than this to stop me." It was true, while the injury hurt like hell and made breathing a bit difficult due to the positioning of the hole, it was nothing I couldn't live through easily.

With that the two of us set off through the sewers, even having to wade our way through the disgusting green liquid. Eventually though, we got out of the water and made our way through a series of passageways that branched from the sewers itself.

We encountered a few Zombies along the way though they were nothing we couldn't deal with. And once again we found ourselves crawling through murky green water before suddenly there was a drop.

We slid down the bank and came to a splash at the bottom. Leon muttered "Argh, shit!" I added "That's probably what's in this water as well." Leon added "Thanks, I didn't need that image." I just shrugged at him as we continued.

Eventually though, we were confronted by a large creature that suddenly burst from the surface of the water. From its appearance, I guessed it was a victim of the G-Virus, it intrigued me to see what the results of this virus actually looked like compared to the T-Virus victims.

It took longer than the Zombies but we eventually took down the creature with only minimal effort. Once that was out of the way, we finally returned to following the underground paths that eventually lead us to a ladder.

Climbing that lead us to some sort of observation room with a large window. We found some ammo and herbs here which we split 50/50 between us and then continued over to a small descent, that lead us into another large room.

This one seemed like some sort of office mixed in with a generator room. The two of us walked around before hearing a strange noise coming from the window. Leon muttered "I don't like the sound of that." I added "Me neither."

We went over to the window. We went over to the window and peered out. It was hard to make anything out at first however as we looked closer our eyes widened when we noticed Ada lying among all the garbage.

I gasped out "Ada!" Before turning to Leon saying "We've got to get her out of there!" Leon responded "You don't have to tell me. But how?" I thought for a moment and said "Good question."

We turned and made our way towards the door that lead to her however we found it sealed shut. I attempted to pull it off its hinges however I had no such luck. I then turned to a series of six generators. Three of them had white lights on and keys inserted into them.

I said to Leon "These keys, I believe if we get each of these, we will be able to hopefully open the door. Leon nodded and said "Sounds good. Let's split up, we'll have more luck finding them that way." I agreed and with that we split up.

My search lead me back through swampy waters once again and I had to deal with more of those G-Virus creatures however eventually I came into a large room with various metal doors. After solving a brief and relatively easy puzzle, I not only came away with the King and Queen chess keys but also a FLAMETHROWER that was housed behind one of the doors!

Taking the weapon with me, I made my way back up to the room where Leon was already waiting. He asked "You got the pieces?" I nodded and gave them to him. He began inputting them into their respective slots on the control panel.

The large steel door opened up and we both quickly descended the staircase. We arrived at the large door leading to where Ada was located however once again, the power was off and the door couldn't be opened.

We turned around and walked into another room, there was another control panel here however this one just required me to flip three switches to get it working. The real trouble came as we turned to leave though.

Suddenly a giant clawed hand thrust itself through the ceiling! It hit a gas pipe which lead to a fire starting and blocking our path! The gigantic claw thrust itself through the ceiling several more times before suddenly the shutter door to the left with suddenly torn down.

The figure revealed itself and my eyes widened when I recognized the clear features of William Birkin! He was near unrecognizable though due to his presumed mutation with the G-Virus. He looked horrific with a giant claw and a massive eyeball on his shoulder.

Upon seeing me, I noticed a look appear in Birkin's eyes before he suddenly lunged forward and attacked us! Both me and Leon managed to dodge and raced through the shutter and down the hallway.

Birkin followed close behind until we arrived on some sort of platform that seemed to be under construction. There was a giant container attached to a crane which gave me an idea. I turned to Leon and yelled "Leon! The crane, if we hit hi with this container, we may be able to push him over the side. I'll stall him, just wait for my signal!"

Leon nodded and went over to the console. I pulled out the shotgun I found in the cop car and opened fire. Birkin seemingly soaked up all my shots until he eventually dropped to his knees stunned.

I yelled out "NOW!" Leon pushed the button and the container came flying in out of nowhere and crashed into Birkin, he was knocked back but regained his footing. Leon moved the container back and waited for my second signal.

I decided to drop my shotgun, cracked my knuckles before rushing at Birkin and punching him directly in the giant eye. I spat out "You know, I never thought it would come to this William, I always liked you, but you have forced my hand."

(Just to establish, Y/N did know about Sherry though he never met her directly. They won't meet until towards the end of the book with the Resident Evil 6 segment where Y/N will also meet Jake as well.)

Continuing to wrestle Birkin to the ground, he managed to slash at my side and cause me another injury. Eventually I yelled "Leon again!" Leon nodded and pushed the button. The container swung around as I leapt off Birkin just in the nick of time.

The container hit Birkin and this time, regardless of how much he tried to hold on, he was sent plummeting down into the abyss below. I just stood over and stared down at him muttering to myself "What a waste of a perfectly good mind."

Though I quickly pushed my thoughts aside to focus on another matter. Was Ada alright?
