Chapter 101: The Fall of Carla Radames
Y/N POV
The file and the recording had given me all the information I needed. The truth behind the doppelganger, the involvement of Simmons. Now my only question was how I factored into the equation and there was only one person who I believe could answer that for me.
The woman who brought me into this mess in the first place, Ada's doppelganger. Or as I now knew her as, Carla Radames.
As soon as I'd listened to the recording and read the file, I placed both back down on the desk. I also contacted Ada, telling her I'd found something of interest. And once I'd hung up, I set a beacon for her to follow and placed the device on the desk.
Just as I was about to leave, a voice was heard over the speakers, broadcasted across the ship. I recognized the voice as that of Carla. What she said though was peculiar, it appeared she was talking to Simmons.
"Can you feel it spreading through your body yet? I'm just giving you exactly what you gave me Simmons." Her tone sounded calm but there was a clear malice masked with each word. "At first, you'll be afraid. But don't worry. You're just becoming the monster you always were. You and everyone else on the planet."
I turned my attention to a nearby door that lead outside as Carla's broadcast continued "You and your family may have shaped the world into what it is today, but starting tomorrow. It's all going to change."
With that the broadcast switched off. I growled to myself, there wasn't much time left. With the new information that I'd learned, I had developed a layer of sympathy for her. But that didn't mean I was going to allow her crooked ambition to come to pass!
I approached the door and opened it, revealing a small ledge. I turned back to look at the desk where my communicator still rested on it, alerting Ada to its location. I sighed and headed out onto the small exterior walkway.
Looking up, I saw a small outcropping that I assumed belonged to some form of helipad. Raising my Hookshot, I grappled onto the edge and propelled myself upwards. I flipped over and landed in the centre of the helipad, creating a crack in the concrete beneath me.
I looked up as soon as I heard a voice behind me "Y/N?" Turning around, you can't believe how surprised I was to be met with the face of none other than Carla Radames, her expression was initially one of shock however it soon took a more serious tone as she added "So, you finally made it. Did you think about what I told you? I'd very much enjoy having your assistance."
Standing up I turned to face her with an aggravated expression on my face as I answered "I came here to get some last minute questions from you." Carla just let out a condescending laugh before asking "What, did you really learn nothing? Perhaps I was wrong about you."
I cut her off, retorting "I know more about you than you think CARLA!" The use of her real name caused her to go rigid however she masked it behind a confident smirk. I then added "I just have one last question to tie up loose ends."
I paused for a moment before finally saying "And that question is this. Why am I here? I understand why you want revenge on Simmons and somewhat understand why you'd drag Ada in, but why me? What did you gain by bringing in another asset that may or may not hinder your plans?"
Carla remained silent for a moment before sighing and replying "I already told you, you were nothing more than a scapegoat like my counterpart who you associate yourself with. However as time went on, I began to have other ideas."
Raising an eyebrow I asked "And what ideas were they?" Carla slowly began to step forward however I swiftly aimed my Samurai Edge at her. She stopped and at last, answered my question. "You would be the perfect weapon to use against Simmons."
She paused before continuing "Y/N Wesker, younger brother of Albert Wesker, while his brother died and eventually withered away, yet you, you lived on eluding the BSAA at every turn. You have survived many things, Raccoon City, Rockfort Island, Los Illuminados, Uroboros. The list goes on."
My eyes widened as I asked "How could you have known about any of that if you weren't there?" Carla just replied "Simple, Simmons' family has eyes everywhere. Did you really think you could stay under the radar long? How do you think I found you in the first place to contact you?"
I shook my head for a moment before changing the subject "It doesn't matter now, I'm going to give you a choice Carla, surrender now or you'll have to deal with the BSAA, they're on the ship and probably making their way here as we speak-."
As if on cue, the door behind us burst open! Chris and his new partner Piers rushed through, their guns aimed at Carla, I also still had mine trained on her from earlier as well. Carla seemingly forgot about me and turned to the two BSAA operatives.
"Still haven't had enough huh? Even after losing all your men, AGAIN." Chris was angered by her statement and growled in anger however she continued with a smug smirk "With your track record, I gotta say, I'd hate to be a member of your team Chris."
Piers warned him "Don't listen to her captain." Carla then revealed a unique handgun, inside of which was a vial containing what I assume was the C-Virus as she said "But where are my manners? I mean really, I should be thanking your men, for being such good test subjects."
In anger, Chris shot the gun from Carla's hand. Causing it to fall over the edge of the helipad to the ground below. Chris turned to me and asked "So, what is this? Were you two in cahoots?!" I sighed and replied to him "You never listen do you Chris, I did tell you things weren't as they seemed. Besides, I'm clearly also pointing my gun at this woman. I understand our previous history, but right now, you need to prioritize."
Chris sighed before once again turning his attention to Carla and saying "Ever since Edonia. All I've wanted is to see you dead. This isn't about vengeance, it's about justice, it's over Ada." Carla simply replied with a blank look as she said "You're right. It is. The aircraft carrier is preparing for launch."
Chris seemed confused as he asked "Launch?" Carla just proclaimed smirking "And the dead will flood the streets." She eyed each of us up individually as she added "Deja vu boys, Raccoon revisited. But this time, it won't just be one city. It'll be the whole world."
I found myself filled with an immense amount of rage as I roared "THAT'S ENOUGH OUT OF YOU!" Before I could fire though, there was a bright light followed by the sound of a helicopter. Sure enough, one emerged right behind Carla bathing us all in bright light!
Inside the helicopter was a man wearing a suit with sunglasses, he held a sniper and aimed it at Carla. He fired a single shot that hit Carla directly in the chest, making her stagger back, clutching her chest. The helicopter flew off shortly after before any of us could tell what had happened.
Carla watched he helicopter leave and I heard her mutter "You got me... Well played..." She turned back to us, stepping backwards as she finally added "But no one can stop it, now..." With a faint gasp, she fell backwards, falling down off the helipad much like her gun did earlier.
I ran over to the edge yelling "CARLA!" I saw her impact the ground with a thud, Chris and Piers ran over and saw her corpse. Piers yelled "Damn it! What the hell just happened?!" I responded "I can tell you exactly what happened."
They both turned to face me, weapons raised as I began explaining "The woman you saw before you may have looked like Ada Wong and claimed to be her, but it wasn't really her. No, the woman who we just interacted with was Carla Radames. Someone who used the C-Virus to impersonate Ada Wong."
Chris asked "A decoy?" Shaking my head I replied "No, Ada had no idea what was going on until recently. Carla's intention was to frame Ada in order to get revenge on a man known as Derek Simmons, you know him?" Chris nodded before asking "Yeah, but why should I trust you?"
I replied "Because on this very aircraft carrier is an office with a briefcase in it. Inside said case is a recording and a folder. Both of which are the perfect evidence. Now that all that's out of the way, I must be going."
As I prepared to leave, Chris called "Y/N wait!" I stopped and gave him another sideways glance just like before. This time he asked "Where are you going?" I responded quietly "I have somewhere to go. I assume we'll meet again Chris."
Chris wasn't done just yet as he asked "Why are you helping me? After everything that's happened between us?" I couldn't help but smile somewhat at this as I said "Let's just say it wasn't personal and leave it at that."
Without another word and before Chris could say anything, I leapt off the helipad as well, down towards Carla's body was lying. This wasn't the end though, in fact, things would only pick up from here...
